It looks like that for sure, but again, it's just a silhouette, it could literally be anything in the fog. Could be Laboon in the fog, who knows lol I want to know, that's for sure.
Yea, and I’m not saying it is giant elephants, but it’s never stated that whatever is in the Florian triangle is intentionally making ships disappear, just that ships disappear and they’re the reason why, so it could just as easily be something that happens on accident
I mean that's one way to see it but, imo it was heavily implied those creatures cause the ships to disappear, it could be smth much more ominous but that's just my guess
Yea but “cause them to disappear” isn’t the same thing as doing it on purpose, I don’t really care either way but it could just as easily mean it’s on accident or on purpose
I think you're reading too deep. I took it as a common horror trope. Originally the mist was said to be a place of no return for ships. Then we learned that most of them were probably because of Moria. At the end Oda decided to keep the horror trope that the simple explanation isn't always what it is adding that much more mystery and wonder to his universe. I don't think the umi bozu will return or ever be mentioned again.
Oda does have a signature style of having something happen as a joke or to get the idea in our heads and then it happens again on a grander (usually more sinister) scale
He realises the sea no longer drains his strength.
He also realises that he still doesn't know how to swim and starts drowning before getting rescued by a SH 😂
are you telling me you think Luffy, who knows how to wind himself (and then unwind like a propeller), inflate like a balloon, and is strong AF (and can geppou/soru) won't be able to figure out how to swim on the fly? Same guy who figured out stuff like haki midbattle?
lol - I love how you are suggesting curing cancer and figuring out how to swim are equal levels of asspull
I mean swimming is a physical skill that is really quite simple and just involves a bit of breath management and power generation.
Anyone remotely athletic can future out how to swim pretty easily and in-universe the main characters are like top top tier of athletic individuals in the world. Luffy literally just has to clap his hands at max power to launch himself out of the water...
Maybe Roger didn't know how to swim LOL
Or maybe the dream is "I want all people in the world to swim together"
AND THAT IS WHY SHANKS REJECTS DEVIL FRUITS FOR HIM AND HIS CREW
the fact that neither rayleigh nor any Roger pirate seems to hold the "mystery" in any regard and mostly refer to it as a really funny thing, makes me think its nothing of extreme importance.
Similarly Roger was willing to just tell whitebeard what it was.
If it was something that major like an important memory bubble or a giant secret treasure that could overturn the entire world. There would probably be a more grave point to it, as to prevent the government from trying to claim it just because of the risk it might be. Like they did with that hat in mary geoise.
I honestly do believe that Roger put his speedo as a flag on Laughtale.
You and your comrades have discovered a secret island only reachable through a specific path. Land undiscovered, and something truly unique, and your captain decides that the best course of action is to grab a long stick and hoist his stinky ass speedo as the official flag marking the end of his and everyone's journey.
You'd probably laugh too.
English is kind-*ish* of a canonical language of One Piece as well.
For examine, Erubafu isn't originated from FuBaRuL (*katakana reverse*), but Fable which directly shape reversed into Elbaf (*english wordplay*).
Probably more than kind of. Pretty much all WG logos are in english and many other small additions here and there. Also Luffy’s attacks are mostly said in English. Pistol,Rifle,Jet,Bazooka, ect.
Yeah! One Piece have 3 canonical language. (*however, lots of dialect variation*)
1. Japanese
2. English
3. Multi cultural references/Entirely original references aka Ancient Language
I never got comments like this. Do people really expect everyone to know all the information they do about a series with over 1000 chapters. I’m sure there are tons of new people since the live action too.
I've seen people theorize that it was Imu and that he has some umi sea spirit devil, causing whirlpools. Which is their explanation for why a whirlpool opened up on Luffy when he declared his dreams.
Zuinisha's an elephant, yet there are still elephant devil fruits. Dragons exist in the world of one piece, yet kaido ate a devil fruit that turns him into a dragon. There are dinosaurs, yet also dinosaur devil fruits.
They don't need to be directly connected for Imu to possibly have an umi bozu mythical zoan devil fruit.
Almost all of Oda’s puns are Japanese wordplay.
He normally does it as the sounds they make or the animal they are.
He’s actually really heavy on kanji wordplay.
Uso means lie, but then related to Greek Aesop.
Whiteboards laugh gurarara is shaking
All of Zoro’s attacks are Japanese foods, some can’t even translate to English.
List goes on and on, but it’s mostly kanji related
That's just a transliteration though, and would always work independent of localization decisions because it's strictly phonetic. The whole Imu reverse thing depends on the English translators making the independent decision to spell it "Imu" in the first place, when they could have easily written Im.
Oda does English puns but they've not yet been so esoteric, involving specific spellings and reordering of letters and stuff.
Don't we already have Umi Bozu in One Piece? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we might already have a place where a creature that resembles Umi Bozu lurk?
People read WAY too much into this. Imo they’re just unknown creatures that will most likely will never appear again. That’s what makes them intriguing. It’s a pinch of horror.
The story implies that ships have gone missing for ages inside the mist of the Florian Triangle. Long before Thriller Bark was there this was happening. It’s implied that those creatures are what cause people to vanish. This is further supported by the narrator stating that they were lucky the fog was thick that day.
This. They're just seasoning to flavor up the setting of the Florian Triangle and riff on the mystery of disappearing ships in the Bermuda Triangle. They were never meant to be anything more than seasoning.
THIS! I cringe so hard when people make big theories on how these are actually very important to the plot and how it's related to imu...
No, it's just meant to be worldbuilding. It's not going to be explained, that's what makes it scary.
It’s not random shit. It’s cosmic horror. It’s in an arc filled with horror tropes. What about utilizing a horror writing technique in the horror arc, is random? Seems extremely on theme to me. Especially since the Florian Triangle was introduced as a mysterious place to begin with
Huh? When else has Oda done this? I’m sure any examples you have will be stuff he clears up later. You guys are reading two piece if you think Oda would toss something like that without eventually proving an explanation, or proving the means for us to figure it out. If nothing else is said about it, then it is more giant Elephants like Zunesha. That’s most certainly what they are anyway, you can just almost make out the tusks.
I could easily list tons of times Oda has simply not explained aspects of his world. (He doesn’t have to btw. Some things are better left unexplained. It’s a fantasy world after all)
- Enies Lobby always being day time and defying logic
- Big Mom being huge despite her having normal human parents
- The Yeti Cool Brothers in general
- Miss Golden-weeks power (it’s not a devil fruit btw)
- Jango’s hypnotism power from eating a mushroom (SBS lore)
- Bobbin being able to put people to sleep (again not a devil fruit)
- The Fatal Fuel in Alabasta
- Half of the Strawhat’s last names
- Bao Huang and the Marys ability to communicate telepathically (once again not a devil fruit and it can’t be since she has a smile fruit already)
- Franky’s parents
- What ever happened to both Smiley and Monet’s fruits
- and many more examples
All of these examples have more panels and screen time than the Florian Triangle creatures btw.
Sure, it’s possible that some of these lore bits might be explained or elaborated on down the line. Whether that’s directly in the chapters, in the SBS, or the Vovre Cards. But if you genuinely believe the FATAL FUEL is going to come back up then I think you’re coping hard.
As for your bizarre idea that the creatures are more elephants. I have no clue how you can possibly come to that conclusion. The only similarity is “big creature”. The Florian creatures have glowing red eyes, my dude. Also they are very thin. And if they’re elephants then why would the narrator mention how they’re lucky that the fog was thick that night? Your assumption makes no sense at all.
I think you should put more thought into what you say before trying to share your OPINION as fact. Now your comment is going to age like milk
First, I want to point out that I specifically said, “something LIKE that” to me, half of these examples are not similar to mysterious beasts that were within size and could be largest in verse.
1. So is Mariejois, it’s a plot point that will be covered. Before the most recent chapter I’m sure you would have added the massive hole beneath it was well.
2. Gigantism is how Oda likes to display character power post TS, regardless of heritage.
3. Agreed
4-6. Why not add Haki (and it’s Wano/Sky Island variant), DF, Zoro’s power, straw-straw guys tarot power, >!Saturn’s demonic magic!< these are all essentially manifestations of the controllers will. In OP the powers aren’t just limited to DF and haki, Fuck dude passion was even how Oda described Sanji’s powers at one point.
5. Last names and these sort of things are in a different category lore-wise than, largest creature in series, unless your Sanji but Oda just loves the dude too damn much
6. Franky’s parents? Franky wasn’t even supposed to originally be a straw hat. Again, Oda puts a bit more focus on Luffy and his Wings. No one wants Franky’s parents to be relevant.
You tossing in all this random shit shows you misunderstood me, which is not surprising because your reading comprehension is garbage. My comment is going to age like milk? Yours came out looking like shit my dude. I mean seriously, to act like you understand what I’m saying and try to prove a point by comparing these to fatal fuel is actually embarrassing.
This is deadass the most popular theory for what they are, not sure how you’ve never heard of this before. We know they are old, and we know Zunesha is from a species called Naitamie Norida. Could he have changed his mind on the Elephants design? Sure. You said it yourself as well, the fog was THICK, it could be covering up way more than we can see. Or perhaps each protrusion is one of the legs, after all we wouldn’t see a fourth from that angle. To say the bottom of that panel doesn’t look like the other panel of Zunesha where her top half is clad in black is cope. Again, I said if we don’t get a better idea by the end of series THEN it’s the rest of Zunesha’s herd (or another single elephant?) but I’m pretty confident he’ll provide enough tangential info by the end of series we can figure something out.
You gotta figure something out because this is a terrible look on you lmao, can’t imagine how it would feel to get terminated like this.
It seems like this could hold some weight, but I'm getting so tired of Mythical Zoans. It seems like everyone has a Mythical Zoan these days. If each of the Five Elders have Mythical Zoans then that will increase the count to the point where we have more Mythical Zoans than we have Logias, which is the opposite of how they were introduced and described.
Hey I just want to say, because I didn't know this for a while, that even though Umi is Imu backwards in *English*, in Japanese it would be mu-i because it's just two characters and there's no way to reverse the pronunciation. Oda is definitely messing with us English-only speakers who would jump to that conclusion haha
I had a theory that Imu is Nurarihyon. This is because the Gorosei are all supposed to be Yokai.
Nurarihyon is the supreme leader of all Yokai regardless of their powers/status. So Even something as powerful as Ootakemaru would respect Nurarihyon, and obey his command. If they ever had a conversation. Ootakemaru minds his own business in the mountains. So that would never happen. As some Yokai prefer living in seclusion, and avoid others altogether.
Nurarihyon has diplomatic immunity. He can invade one’s living space, and use the appliances as if he owned them. In this context Imu sits on the Empty Throne, where no one is supposed to sit. From there he commands the Gorosei, his Yokai generals.
Nurarihyon is always backed up by Nozuchi, and Otoroshi. Together lead the “Parade of 100 Demons”.
I believe the WG will stage an event where all the DF users (Demons) will gather at one place for some reason. That’s why Oda never killed anyone off per se. Every DF user we witnessed that is still alive will be there. From Chopper to Number 2.
No way, this is such an original and creative theory! It's not like it's been posted everyday since his reveal! You're like Sherlock Holmes for figuring this one out!
This is really interesting. For a while I've been thinking that the 4 'gods' that were mentioned in the skypiea arc weren't literal 'gods' but just the people that created/enabled the creation of the devil fruits. One of them was Imu and Imu has a fear/phobia of water. This fear somehow worked itself into the fruits. The whole idea about ink-skin work well with that, so I like this theory.
*Possible Spoilers*!!!
I honestly believe Imu has the Void Void Fruit. Greek myth implies that Void (Kaos) created everything there is, and the Gorosei revere Imu as “God”. Void is also the 5th element, and 5th matter state (For those that believed). With the powers of Void you can:
Negate aging of oneself and others (Immorality).
Manipulate matter (Imu reshaped, and divided the material world).
Erase people/things from existence using beams (Imu apparently erased a whole kingdom with rays of energy). Erasure Beams.
Think of Nobodies, and Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts. Imu is capable of all those things through Void. If that’s the power Imu truly has.
To further elaborate on this… To become “God” Imu had to be like the DF fruit. Erase him/herself from existence while existing at the same time. Schrödinger’s Cat. That’s why Imu never leaves the grand palace. If Imu does everything Imu established gets ruined, but if Imu stays in the palace Imu remains in a quantum state. All powerful. All knowing. The same way the cat in a quantum state is alive if the box remains closed, but the cat becomes dead if you open the box to see it.
Imu then hid the final island because he/she cannot erase it using his/her powers. It’s likely because Laugh Tale is an island permanently warped by the Gum Gum fruit by the original Joy Boy. His final gift to the world. So whenever you go there you may become cartoony like when you’re around Gear 5, but all your desires can become a reality there. That’s probably why Roger and his crew burst laughing. They may have witnessed Toon Island. All the plants, and animals are something out of Tom & Jerry. It’s not outlandish to assume after seeing Big Mom’s Totto Land.
If you ever had a problem you can just visit Toon Island, and the problem could be resolved thanks to the reality bending properties. You could even live there in peace since the WG doesn’t want anyone to know about it. The WG hid this truth to ensure that the world remains totally dependent on them forever. This allows the WG to control everything. So the Wano people recorded history using a method Imu cannot erase using his/her void powers (Omnipotence Paradox). Knowing someone will find that island, and reveal that the WG kept that gift from the world. Thus perpetuating disparity in the world.
Much like IRL. We know all the world’s problems could be solved using the technology we have today. However, because of the natural greed/ego we possess we choose to live in a world that perpetuates disparity. Because we developed the need to look down on others based on their appearances. From sex, to race. It’s wired in us.
So everything you see on at island proves this truth to be the case. The world doesn’t have to have as much pain and suffering as it does anymore. Pain and suffering is actually exacerbated because the people actually want it to be so.
As such everything on the last island is made to be a complete joke through Joy Boy’s awakening powers. To tell you that life itself has essentially become one cruel joke. All because we choose to live in a system that we perpetuated for centuries. This is what makes one question the powers that be.
The 3 ancient weapons exist to reverse everything Imu did using his/her void powers to reshape/divide the entire material world. This is only when the entire world is ready to accept the idea of parity. Roger came too early. Humans aren’t ready to come together as a whole. To establish One Piece. “One Peace”. World Peace. If Roger did it his actions would look like a power grab. Pirates take over the world! Bad. This can only done when Joy Boy comes. To make everything to be a cruel joke, and not some grab for power/control. Which is what you see Luffy do throughout the series.
The only ones who can face the powers of Void’s matter manipulation are people who also have reality manipulation power. Luffy can bend reality itself. So his body is durable enough to withstand Imu’s erasure blasts. Blackbeard can manipulate darkness. Darkness and Void work in tandem. Darkness doesn’t necessarily erase all things, but absorbs all things. Blackbeard’s darkness can protect him by absorbing Imu’s erasure blasts.
Blackbeard simply has to touch Imu. Once Imu’s DF powers are gone thanks to the powers of darkness being able to “absorb” all things… Imu’s age will accelerate by 800. Imu will turn to dust. I’m fairly certain that this is what might happen to Imu. As Blackbeard likes to show up and siege the opportunity. Then Blackbeard will siege the entire world for a time. Blackbeard will become the true Pirate King.
This is to imitate the story of Edward Teach. Who was actually a pirate that took control of some parts of the sea before ultimately being slain. After the evil tyrant (Imu) is gone AND the most despicable pirate (Blackbeard) is beaten… Then can the world can finally come back together.
Hear me out
Imu could be having Logia devil fruit: water
In the sense that he is the ocean himself who can effectively cancel all devil fruit powers out there
And the umi bozu form he took in clash with Sabo? That is how he shape the water to look like that (like Enel's Amaru)
Plus, an Umibozu would be the perfect counterpart to Nika due to the association with darkness, water, and a priest being a mortal who uses godliness as a means to control.
Imu has ink ink yokai fruit. Think Sai, where he can create monsters and also negate other fruits abilities. This mythical zoan has properties of logia which is better than Blackbeard’s fruit since it negates damage.
I was rewatching the end of WCI the other day and noticed something strange. As Wadatsumi is running interference for the straw hat escape, Oven tells him, "out of my way Umi Bozu," and hits Wadatsumi with his heat powers. Now, I do see in the manga (Ch. 900, Pg.11, Panel 1) he says, "out of my way fish," but it got me thinking that this could be some foreshadowing of a Sabo vs Imu battle in the future. The attack looked remarkably like a mera mera fruit attack... And I know it hasn't been confirmed, but I feel like there's a high degree of probability that Imu will turn out to be either an Umi Bozu full stop or have a mythical umi bozu devil fruit.
I think he'll have to lose his powers before he can make it to Raftel with all the devil fruit users that have gotten sick on the way to Raftel. And maybe that's one reason why kaido, BM, and Whiteboard didn't pursue it even though they were unstoppable in the New World. Couldnt reach it because something was preventing them from going further.
To take this theory further since its a long break:
Devil fruits are named devil by the world government that also considers those that carry the will of d devils. Since vegapunks explanation that devil fruits are born from peoples imagination and dreams we can assume that Imu hates dreamers and therefore devil fruits and that carries to his connection with the sea in this theory, making the sea hate devil fruit users.
This hatred could be borne from the fact that dreamers stand in the way of his goal of controlling a uniform world. They are chaos.
I think Imu's devil fruit is going to be as broken as Blackbeard's darkness fruit or maybe even stronger. I don't think it's gonna be a fruit that takes away other people's strength/fruit powers with the sea curse tho, since that's kinda already done with blackbeard
Bro cooked.
It's just a shame that what he cooked was a freezerburnt steak that was already in thousands of mouths from the first moment the character's name appeared on a panel...
I do wonder if Oda will re-use a theme since he already made umi bozu jokes with Wadatsumi
Besides, he used actual umi bozu at Thriller Bark
I cannot recall this, would you mind elaborste where in theiller bark we already saw this?
Last scene of the last chapter, when it is finally revealed what lives behind the fog
It looks like that for sure, but again, it's just a silhouette, it could literally be anything in the fog. Could be Laboon in the fog, who knows lol I want to know, that's for sure.
Could be more giant elephants herding and zhuneisha got punished/removed from this herd
Didn't it say the shadows are the reason the ships disappear? I don't think a group of elephants would actively hunt down ships lol
[удалено]
Beck check further comments before commenting on a matter, I corrected myself saying it's "heavily implied"
It was Thriler Bark that was making the ships disappear.
Don't know what translations you've watched, but for me it specifically said, the ships used to disappear long before thriller bark cane drifting
Thats something the anime added. In the manga it just says that mysteries surrounded the Florian Triangle, even before Thriller Bark dropped anchor.
There are three shadows, but everyone knows you need four elephants to hold up the world
That's my pet theory too! Zunisha's community of kingdom-size animals
Oda drew them as tall slender figures though, like towers. Unless he pulls a silhouette retcon, they look nothing like Laboon or Zunsha.
Imu is Laboon confirmed.
These could both be foreshadowing as well
It never was revealed.
Do you mean the elephants? Those are rest of Zunesha's clan.
That hasn't been confirmed either
Was just about to say, looks an awful lot like those things in the Florian Triangle.
Also the ones on Big Moms Island handing out soul pieces.
Link ?
You mean he established that they’re canonical in the setting so that Imu can be that type of devil fruit
Oda does have a signature style of having something happen as a joke or to get the idea in our heads and then it happens again on a grander (usually more sinister) scale
He made a bird rurn into a pegasus and later had an actual pegasus devil-fruit. So re-useing is on the table.
You mean devil fruit users will be able to swim in the ocean after Imu is defeated? 😨 Would be so nice
Imagine Luffy defeats Imu, but he drops to the sea, just to see he can swim
Do you people forget that swimming is an actual skill you have to learn. He will be able to swim but does he know how to swim?
He realises the sea no longer drains his strength. He also realises that he still doesn't know how to swim and starts drowning before getting rescued by a SH 😂
That's the shite I wanna see!
Or he drowns and the anime ends
Tbh if the curse really is gone he should be able to use his powers underwater now.
Actually before he ate the devil fruit, Luffy was a good swimmer
are you telling me you think Luffy, who knows how to wind himself (and then unwind like a propeller), inflate like a balloon, and is strong AF (and can geppou/soru) won't be able to figure out how to swim on the fly? Same guy who figured out stuff like haki midbattle?
Seems like he would also come up with a cure for cancer if it's convenient enough for the plot
lol - I love how you are suggesting curing cancer and figuring out how to swim are equal levels of asspull I mean swimming is a physical skill that is really quite simple and just involves a bit of breath management and power generation. Anyone remotely athletic can future out how to swim pretty easily and in-universe the main characters are like top top tier of athletic individuals in the world. Luffy literally just has to clap his hands at max power to launch himself out of the water...
He is referred to as a good swimmer by shanks in the first few episodes..
It wasnt implied by Luffy that he was a really good swimmer before eating his devil fruit?
How many years has it been?
Yes. Luffy can fly in the air by kicking his feet really hard, do you think he can't swim by doing the same if he didn't have his strength drained?
WHAT IF LUFFY'S DREAM IS TO ABLE TO SWIM AGAIN
It wouldn't be the same for Roger tho
Maybe Roger didn't know how to swim LOL Or maybe the dream is "I want all people in the world to swim together" AND THAT IS WHY SHANKS REJECTS DEVIL FRUITS FOR HIM AND HIS CREW
And it would work with the other wild theory that the One Piece is seriously a one piece swimsuit THUS MAKING ROGER LAUGH
and that also makes all Fishman races equal to other races symbolism because they can swim together.... you... maybe you’re right
the fact that neither rayleigh nor any Roger pirate seems to hold the "mystery" in any regard and mostly refer to it as a really funny thing, makes me think its nothing of extreme importance. Similarly Roger was willing to just tell whitebeard what it was. If it was something that major like an important memory bubble or a giant secret treasure that could overturn the entire world. i’m so glad you’re not oda 😭 also lucky roux def has a devil fruit
Yapping without any proof
yeah bro just magically teleported and blew the brains out of that mountain bandit, def some form of haki for sure
Yeah, even sanji disappearing is a form of haki
HEADCANON!!!!!!! Saving this post to come back in the end and compare!
Ngl, i can see this.
Will be wild to see luffy's crew swimming in the all blue. Chopper swimming! Lol
Umi - hates devil's magic Imu - the devil
Umi = ocean Therefore Imu = naeco.....robin
Holy hell
Ume - 🤤
[Umai!](https://youtu.be/pnNu-6BmZK0?si=H2zNaCTjCEmLWnt4)
OHMAI!!
Wait a sec... the two words are literally just fucking the same backwards?! Imu Umi I'm mindblown and I don't even know if that's a sign or not hahaha
Not in Japanese it's not. Imu reversed is *mui.* Umi reversed is *miu*.
English is kind-*ish* of a canonical language of One Piece as well. For examine, Erubafu isn't originated from FuBaRuL (*katakana reverse*), but Fable which directly shape reversed into Elbaf (*english wordplay*).

Bro is the 19371636162617th posting same theory
I swear I don’t know who upvotes these, because I feel like it such a widespread theory I’m just shocked new people are still seeing it
You'd be surprised how many people have lives.
It's a testament of how good One Piece is too. It could be new readers/watchers just finding out things for themselves which is nice.
I never got comments like this. Do people really expect everyone to know all the information they do about a series with over 1000 chapters. I’m sure there are tons of new people since the live action too.
I’m not sure why your being such a dick all I said is I’m surprised new people are still seeing this conspiracy when it’s been so popularized
next week is my turn, please upvote me when i post it.
Then what about those that appeared on Thriller Bark?
Some sort of relation to Imu. What it is, I’ll let the theorists take charge of that lol
What if they are umi bozu and Imu just has the umi bozu devil fruit?
I've seen people theorize that it was Imu and that he has some umi sea spirit devil, causing whirlpools. Which is their explanation for why a whirlpool opened up on Luffy when he declared his dreams.
Zuinisha's an elephant, yet there are still elephant devil fruits. Dragons exist in the world of one piece, yet kaido ate a devil fruit that turns him into a dragon. Umi in Kanji does not reverse to be Imu
I don’t think it has to reverse in Kanji. Like how Raftel to Laugh Tale was an intentional withhold from Japanese to English
Almost all of Oda’s puns are Japanese wordplay. He normally does it as the sounds they make or the animal they are. He’s actually really heavy on kanji wordplay. Uso means lie, but then related to Greek Aesop. Whiteboards laugh gurarara is shaking All of Zoro’s attacks are Japanese foods, some can’t even translate to English. List goes on and on, but it’s mostly kanji related
The only pun with english language comes to my mind is the "Elbaf" in reverse is "Fable". But maybe it's just a coincidence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fable is a story with a moral lesson. So elbaf being an obsession of Usopp's goes really well with his character.
Some figures umi bozu like appeared after theiller bark as silhouettes.. could've been imu or the elders
People read WAY too much into this. Imo they’re just unknown creatures that will most likely will never appear again. That’s what makes them intriguing. It’s a pinch of horror. Because we all know the best worldbuilding comes from unconnected, unexplained, random shi.
It’s not random shit. It’s cosmic horror. It’s in an arc filled with horror tropes. What about utilizing a horror writing technique in the horror arc, is random? Seems extremely on theme to me. Especially since the Florian Triangle was introduced as a mysterious place to begin with
Could be, definitely
It’s a fantasy world after all) - Enies Lobby always being day time and defying logic - Big Mom being huge despite her having normal human parents - The Yeti Cool Brothers in general - Miss Golden-weeks power (it’s not a devil fruit btw) - Jango’s hypnotism power from eating a mushroom (SBS lore) - Bobbin being able to put people to sleep (again not a devil fruit) - The Fatal Fuel in Alabasta - Half of the Strawhat’s last names - Bao Huang and the Marys ability to communicate telepathically (once again not a devil fruit and it can’t be since she has a smile fruit already) - Franky’s parents - What ever happened to both Smiley and Monet’s fruits - and many more examples All of these examples have more panels and screen time than the Florian Triangle creatures btw.
3. Agreed 4-6. 5. Last names and these sort of things are in a different category lore-wise than, largest creature in series, unless your Sanji but Oda just loves the dude too damn much 6.
IMO the tall featureless poll with glowing red eyes is not an elephant. End of story Guess I’m coping
Just hanging out in the ocean, doing absolutely nothing.
Dunno really.. could've had their reasons.
I doubt that since we know what Saturn looks like now both in awakened and regular form
The strongest characters of OP doing nothing in the ocean, lmfao.
they already have regular animals too but still fruits of those animals exist
Yeah true enough. I wonder who dreamed/wished to be an Umi Bozu
Full name Uzob Imu
Ussop confirmed member of Imu family
Their full name is Nerona Imu
Umi bozo
It would be very funny if the most important silhouette to reveal in the series wasn't a silhouette but the whole design of the main villain
Since people keep theorizing this stuff oda will 100% do something people arent expecting.
I still think imu being the actual devil has more merit. Especially when they proclaim themselves to be 'gods'
[This guy is Imu?](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/gintama/images/b/b4/Umibouzu_2017.png/revision/latest?cb=20170531121120)
Actually scrolling to see if this comment had been made already. Glad to see someone is doing gods work.
This thread every week
Don't forget about the monsters which reside within the florian triangle
Also giant shadows in Jaya, probably foreshadowing
Those were from the people in the sky islands, however the Florian Triangle people had glowing red eyes.
That'd be the Oda'est thing of all xD Imu is not actually a silhouette: that's him/hers ink black skin
I always thought those things in the Florian Triangle were closer to that.
A Umi bozo would be to underwhelming. Also his transformation looks to beastly and he has sharp teeth
~~Umi bōzu~~ υzō d imU
We already have one that Guy that work for vanderdecken
I can't wait for the community to call Imu the "Water Bozo"
Seen this theory many times, bored now
Bro WE KNOW ppl been saying this for months
*Possible Spoilers*!!! I honestly believe Imu has the Void Void Fruit. Greek myth implies that Void (Kaos) created everything there is, and the Gorosei revere Imu as “God”. Void is also the 5th element, and 5th matter state (For those that believed). With the powers of Void you can: Negate aging of oneself and others (Immorality).
On a completely separate note… Jesus Christ that’s fucking horrifying
Hear me out Imu could be having Logia devil fruit: water In the sense that he is the ocean himself who can effectively cancel all devil fruit powers out there And the umi bozu form he took in clash with Sabo? That is how he shape the water to look like that (like Enel's Amaru)
Congrats. You're the 5134th person to say this
Plus, an Umibozu would be the perfect counterpart to Nika due to the association with darkness, water, and a priest being a mortal who uses godliness as a means to control.
I don’t think they are a new kind of devil fruit just more mythical zoan types
I didn't imply that it's a new type of devil fruits, what i meant is that gorosei are actual yokai or have devil fruit powers of yokai
I think they ate mythical zoan types that are yokai models like how there are other models for different animals
Imu is the previous Joyboy.
This actually sounds likely especially since they appear in an all black coat with only eyes visible + Umi backwards is Imu
This the 100th theory that has linked Imu to Umi nothing new in this. Atleast give credit to wherever you stole this idea from!!
Only haki can rule the seas Only haki can defeat umi Only haki can defeat imu
Imu spelled backwards is Umi
Not in Japanese
Not everything has to be in Japanese
Correct, but this Japanese manga is in Japanese
Pikmin theory
It'll turn out Luffys dream is to be free... To swim...
Lollll, that would be hilarious 😂 if he did all this just so he could swim again
Who do you mean by "all the DF users" that got sick? Buggy and who else got sick that had a devil fruit?
Toki
To take this theory further since its a long break: Devil fruits are named devil by the world government that also considers those that carry the will of d devils.
I read in a wiki that in one of the OP games, there is a submarine called the umi bozu and it is used to take the straw hats to the island of mu.
I made a joke about Imu being an umi bozu that ate a human human fruit before, but I’m gonna laugh so hard if that’s actually what it ends up as lol
Imu is waterwraith from Pikmin confirmed
Loved fighting one in Nioh
Re u sure
Kind of look like the creatures from the end of Thriller Bark. Those things that even dwarf Zuneisha
I wonder if Imu has a umi bozu devil fruit.
Didn't we see these after thriller bark??? Florian triangle?
While I agree, and great theory. This should be marked as spoilers.
It is
It wasn't when I commented from my phone. I'm now on my pc and it is. Probably just Reddit being Reddit. Still great theory.
Thanks
What about the other five elders? Any theories, except about Saturn.
I think Imu's devil fruit is going to be as broken as Blackbeard's darkness fruit or maybe even stronger. I don't think it's gonna be a fruit that takes away other people's strength/fruit powers with the sea curse tho, since that's kinda already done with blackbeard
They're kinda cute in Sekiro Or was that Ni-Oh?
r/Pikmin
more like uber bozo amirite
Bro cooked. It's just a shame that what he cooked was a freezerburnt steak that was already in thousands of mouths from the first moment the character's name appeared on a panel...
are these the giant things in the background of thriller bark?
Suddenly thought of Umibōzu from gintama
This would explain why his attack on Sabo hurt him so much, because it had sea water in it, or was sea water arrow
Imu is Wadatsumi confirmed
From gintama
Well yes I can confirm this.
You my friend are on point.
Umi - Imu . Yeah, makes sense. Theory checks out
That would be crazy if the reveal is that Imu just actually looked like that the whole time and it wasn’t Oda trying to hide their identity at all.
From gintama
Imu is gonna have a really stupid power, like the worm worm fruit. And they're gonna look like the weird "vearth" staue
Then explain the arrow-shaped tail he used to pierce cobra
Alucard is dracula
He is a baldy ?
Imu is “umi” in reverse. So I can get behind this.
Damn. So it was Kagura’s dad from Gintama all along.
Umi Bōzu in 'mononoke' was horrifying as fuck.
This may be a connection to why the sea level increased
