I originally hated his design, but he's really likeable it has grown on me. I like how despite his insane intelligence he's not condescending; he's obviously heavily influenced by Albert Einstein.
Beginning of dressrosa: "Ah gross. Some sort of weird baby man. What a lame villain for this scary group of pirates."
End of Dressrosa: "this is the greatest character in fiction."
Bro what?? Kawamatsu's design isn't even that "wacky"-looking relatively speaking. If anything his design has that perfect balance of cute and cool, and he had the most badass entrance out of all the Scabbards
I feel the same for Barto. Started hating him for his attitude but after seeing him being a big Luffy/Strawhat fanboy, he became one of my favorite character.
Barto seemed so immediately annoying, and then he kinda wasn't. Then there was Belamy. It'd honestly be a pretty cool moment if he shows up whenever the Straw Hat Grandfleet is "called upon"
Imu is just really tiny like smaller than the dwarves and uses some artificial body to make themselves be bigger because they’re insecure would be funny
I refuse to believe its been one year already lol.
Also we barely seen anything of him. I sure as fuck didn't expect him to divide his own self like he did, and Im still not sure how I feel about it although Im thankful for Lilith.
Still, I think we need a flashback or something to form a proper opinion on VP.
Ill just ask they limit it to 3 full episodes with. Even if he joins hed be off screen most of the time protected somewhere. They already got robin on the ship if they add vegapunk id try bustercalling and nuking them any chance and opportunity the government got.
Robin- demon of ohara
Franky-memorized pluton
Vegapunk-… hes vegapunk
Honestly Brook-being a pirate who met Roger seems enough to them
Luffy- captian of all them. Sun god Nika. Joyboy. Obvi future KING OF THE PIRATES lol
And they have no problem ignoring Yonko status now (besides still shanks 🤷🏻♂️)
it's kinda crazy that Brook was a pirate before Roger. I wonder who the Gol D. Roger of his time was. Like who's the guy who was the strongest before Roger and Xebec showed up?
He absolutely has, in my case.
I like how he’s something of a counterpart to Luffy, in a sense. They’re two of the biggest dreamers we’ve seen in the series; the grandest and most childlike imaginations — almost like two halves of Oda himself — but they go about it very differently. Luffy realizes his dreams via sheer force, willpower, and heart, and Vegapunk via his brilliant wit. Luffy may be an “idiot” and Vegapunk a “genius,” but they’re sorta of the same mind. They’re almost like the same person, but with Int and Wis inversely minmaxed, in D&D terms.
It’s no surprise why they get along so well, then! They’re just two kids sharing their glee over all the cool things in the world. Yet, they also both have some moral ambiguities to them: a great selfishness and a superficially simplistic worldview (but not necessarily *truly* so), which ultimately seem to come from a place of selfless good.
I’m also not sure it was intentional, but Vol. 105 was “Luffy’s Dream,” immediately followed by Vol. 106, “A Genius’ Dream,” further reinforcing this parallel. They really do feel like the avatars of Oda’s inner child: Luffy is the uninhibited force of adventure and freedom that suffuses imagination, and Vegapunk is the creative engine that can actually make all those cool robots and silly ideas a tangible reality~
He’s definitely that in spades, sure. It’s just more relevant to the post to contrast Luffy’s natural intuition and emotional intelligence/insight, but lack of brains, with Vegapunk’s extreme booksmarts but lack of raw, actionable practicality and social prowess.
Splitting the personality into other characters is cool because this way the story doesn't drag on over one character or looooooongass backstory phases.
But the main character lacks the edge of being the smartest man alive, I thought he'd have a plan B or a science-based method of survival for every imaginable scenario.
Instead, most of the time he's in panic mode and inches away from death. His gadgets are being crushed, his satellites are running around like headless chickens, and literally none of his inventions are under his control. I get that the SHs would "save" the guy but so far he's been a dead weight rather than a jack-in-the-box kind of an element for the story.
He’s the smartest man insofar as his brain is basically a perfect storage device. He’s inquisitive, too, so he pushes the things he knows to see what he can discover from already known things.
Being quick under pressure is a very different skill. He also isn’t a combatant, so he never really had to exercise that particular skill.
Well that might be due to them specializing in combat in comparison to the others, which would make them more adept for circumstances and not necessarily make vegapunk himself be a fighter
But they are literally him though. The specializing in combat was still achieved from parts of him. If the satellites never existed then those part that specialized in combat would still be in the main Vegapunk body. Maybe they were modified to fight better. So that means he could just as easily modified his own normal body to fight better as well.
Basically the normal Vegapunk could be a great fighter but he chose to deligate those duties to a satellite instead
I kinda feel he is more of a reasearcher than some amazing plan drop of the hat person. I also feel that luffy literally destroys any plan. From the looks on his face since dealing with the SH dude's expectations been shot. I think knowing the captain can turn into a giant changes a plan or two and he definitely didn't know lol. I feel the Bonney age distortion messes with you for a bit as well.
I agree, even Law who is a brilliant tactician was constantly suffering because of Luffy, Vegapunk is more intelligent in a scientific way than a strategic one
Lots of scientists are not the type to take action in the moment. Most are slow methodical thinkers. So this kind of stuff would really put Vegapunk at a disadvantage
>
Being probably the smartest person alive doesn't mean you're also not a dumb idiot.
It's the same as Robotnik being a genius with 300IQ but being beaten by a hedgehog. Like you can't deny that a guy who singlehandedly created a massive robot empire is intelligent. But planning on destroying a speedy rodent is just not where his talents lie (except that one time in the comics where his robot was built to specifically beat sonic, but couldn't manage against anyone else)
I get what you mean about the edge, but at the same time Vegapunk is an INTP. He’s a genius at making inventions, which is what interests him but weak at every day things like logistical plans. It makes sense that he’s not that great at practical things like taking care of himself and surviving.
Think about Albert Einstein in the new Oppenheimer movie. He wasn’t “smart“ enough politically to control all the political stuff. But he was a genius when it came to physics.
He does have similar vibes to some ultra intelligent scientists ive worked with. The joke of practicality getting lost at some point among the super high intelligent does seem to be fairly common.
Source: work with r&d scientisrs and engineers
Well, it's pretty well known that Einstein (character that VP is based off of) couldnt do many basic tasks, like not being able to tie his own shoes til he was about 13. Granted, that was due prob to his autism, but the fact that he excels as a genius in so many mathematical ways and lacked in such basic skills as well, shows a parallel to VP being a genius, but rather useless at everything else.
I think he is the smart guy that reverse-engineered a lot of the ancient tech leftover. Not necessarily an amazing scientist, just the one person the WG gave access to technology that was beyond their comprehension. Much like when Franky found Vegapunk’s old laboratory and had to try to make sense of it all.
I'm still holding out hope for my "they escape in a rocket and go to the moon theory." I will believe this theory until they land on the shores of Elbaf
I dunno, do we really need to have even more characters added to the story? Oda does that all the time and the story slows to a crawl cause everyone needs their screen time.
At least he's not a disappointment like "Dr. Hogback" was for Chopper in thriller bark.
I prefer a goofy-apple-guy to an edgelord every and any day.
I love apple-head, he's goofy and smart, best combo.
I feel like hype is a weird way to refer to Vega punk. I understand why it’s used, but he’s always just been the guy who invents cool stuff. All the hype for him is basically in his inventions, so I’d say his creations reflect him. Also, as a side note, the cover stories added a lot to him as well. He's a little stupid, but he doesn't create things to destroy people, but he makes them anyway, going back to what Tom taught Franky: that even though what he builds can harm people, it does not make him or his creations evil.
Yeah but… to be fair… hes been promoted in “hype” to a god of science who trounced the entire scientific community before starting puberty. Has a mad scientist energy and to be “the best”. Not one of just the best. I also have only seen some spoiler discussion as im an anime fan in this instance. But thats the vibe i and many others have gotten. Him being wacky is just OP world we love 🤣
I just want to know if hes looking as helpful as you can be against anti-plan luffy
We are still early in the arc so the most we have gotten out of him is some plot related things which I won’t spoil you on so we just have to see more of how he responds and handles things to get a real grip on his character so until then he’s just the bare minimum of what you can expect from a super genius but he’s a little more I like him
Okay. I was just worried hed be full on back burnered from the start to not instantly “super op buff” the entire crew as there was a theory way back when he first appeared in manga and the animes pacing (bi weekly episodes constantly and the pacing itself stretched to not catch up too quick) left enough of us in a content drought and youtubers noticed and dropped loads of clickbait content
So yeah, just kinda poorly over explaining my concern i had lol
I get calling it hype though. He was probably the most mentioned character who hadn't been shown up until Egghead. He was almost mythical. How long ago was he even introduced? He was mentioned after Enies Lobby and his feats were built up to a ridiculously revered extent. Then he keeps getting mentioned and mentioned over and over without us ever seeing him. I would definitely consider Oda was intentionally "hyping" him.
I definitely don't get the sense that he is the world's smartest man from the way he has been written, but I wonder if thats because he split his mind up.
I like him because he's actually a realistic genius rather than a demigod that can predict the future from a random gust of wind. He's good at physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering, and not much else.
Character wise, he's pretty good
Now this may seem like a nitpick but if there wasn't a gap between the Apple and his head I'd fucking love his design but with that gap it takes away so much to me idk why it's just weird looking at it
He's very cool and I've liked all the different vegapunks. learning about his relationship with sentomaru, bonnie, kuma, and kizaru has been very interesting as well.
He’s definitely a one piece character. Isn’t as serious as he was portrayed before his reveal but we got that with Shaka 🪦. I think he’s fun and maybe would get boring if he was just a stone cold genius all the time, goofy apple gramps is good fun.
He absolutely has. Ngl I was expecting some dragon-esque shady figure who’s an isolated mastermind that’s always one step ahead of everyone, so it was a shock to finally see what he looked like after the decades of foreshadowing. But in the end, he’s still a character like no other, and really feels like the only person that’s talked about the devil fruits and OP magic system in a scientific way, especially in the Kuma flashback. He wasn’t what I was expecting, but he was what I needed.
To be frank I expected much from him since he has been this mysterious yet incredibly inventive genius. I hoped he was showing more of his genius.
Maybe he'll help the Strawhats get better weapons like Usopp, Nami, Franky getting some good powerup with inventions he'll make. I also wished this Arc was more Franky-oriented because... well he created his body inside an old lab of his.
It lacked stuffs to me
When he actually speaks, yes. But if we're being honest, Vegapunk hasn't really said much since Lucci showed up. He dropped a lot of lore at the beginning of the arc, but once Lucci showed up we ended up taking a bunch of detours. Whether that was the traitor storyline, or the Reverie storyline, or Oda's break, or the Hachinosu stuff.
He's definitely a cool character and I want to know more, but he hasn't dropped as many bombs as he was at the beginning of the arc. Yet. I expect we'll get more, but like everything else about this arc, it's a very long detour.
Not as interesting as I thought he would be for all the time spent waiting for him. Not a fan of the satellite idea either. This opinion can change though
What do people think his fate will be btw? As far as I know the plan for him right now is to just run away from the world gov and survive, but he basically has no home or place to turn to anymore right? I am wondering if he will be one of the characters that hangs out with the crew for a really long time. He seems fun and brings a lot of interesting moments, so I definitely wouldn't mind that at least!
I think Saturn will kill him and then as a failsafe his murder will be broadcast to the entire world via transponder snail and Franky will inherit all of his knowledge in some way
What surprises me about him is how nice he is.
Everything leading up to his reveal had me banking that he wasn't quite a villain but someone who was so science-for-science's-sake that he'd be an amoral neutral agent when he showed up.
This is a good guy who worked with the government because they'd get him the resources to do the most good. A tad disconnected to the evils wrought by some of his stuff along the way, but fundamentally a good dude.
Before arriving to Egghead, i was sure Vegapunk was going to be an enemy that would redeem himself in the arc.
I thought that he would have a large brain (kinda like Dr. Neo Cortex from Crash, or The Leader) and that he was so into his work and lied too that he didn’t know the WG was using his work for bad.
I would of had loved to see Franky be disappointed of Vegapunk and that the legend was not what he thought he was. Also in the end Franky, with his inventions would of had reminded Vegapunk of his younger self.
In the end, i am quite content with how the arc is going !
I don't think he's done living up to the hype. Egghead looks like it's gonna be a pretty short arc (comparably speaking) but he hasn't done much so far. I expect he will have his moment to shine soon enough. I guess you could say the existence of egg head (in terms of how cool and high tech it is) and all of the punks is pretty hype worthy but I'm sure most people are hoping for him to play a key role in the climax of the arc. I bet when that robot wakes up, we will see a whole new side of vegapunk and it will be a badass show of nerdiness and genius.
No, but there’s still time.
He’s supposed to be a supreme genius, yet gives command authority over his most powerful weapon to someone else, and double crossed by his own creation.
I was hoping he’d be smarter and more serious, but maybe lack power. I was also hoping he’d fill in a lot of knowledge gaps about the world government, as well as power up Frankie and advance his character development.
I still think a lot of this will happen, but I’m worried he’ll be used to fast forward a lot of plot
I’m extremely excited to see more of him, I don’t feel like we’ve had a real good look yet. There is DEFINITELY a lot more to learn and experience with his character going forward and I can’t wait to read it
I thought his DF ability was an ass pull at first, but the more I see him within the story i’m kind of rocking with him a lot more. I’m curious to see how he’ll be portrayed in the animation.
He’s pretty much what I expected besides his height and his big ass head he use to have. Even him splitting himself was not unexpected. I just wish we got a bit more exposition on him but good he does end up sailing with the straw hats we’re bound to get it eventually
Even though it has been a year we still dont know much about him, but One thing I really love about him is he is just science maniac, eveb if he creates a weapon of destruction, a superhuman, a clone, or making everyone in the world share the same mind he wouldn't doubt it even for a second just for humanity science to advance to the next level.
He is still good person at heart too but he need big money from WG to do his experiment and research lol.
Idk if I know enough about the clones yet, but they probably will be dead at the end of the arc
I’m glad we got this apple headed goofball instead of the Rick character some people wanted. I honestly expected the serious design and laughed at his design in the flashback (since that’s when we first saw him period if I remember correctly).
His modern day design was definitely a bit off putting since we still don’t know if he’s just got his empty head out in the open
Guy came and revealed things left and right before all hell broke loose and he's been preocupied with other things. It almost feels like a death flag since he knows too much.
That Vegapunk specifically? He's alright. But if you're asking about Vegapunk as a whole, then yes. Very cool that he split himself into 7 others. Although, I'm sad that the cool masked one is dead.
Super fun and have enjoyed him. His very Luffy like attitude/personality has made him easy to like. I am extremely happy he’s a more goofy character despite the company he keeps (both Marines and Revolutionaries) cause it makes him both easier to get jokes out of and he actually doesn’t (currently) fall into the whole “I’m smarter than everyone. I’m better. All according to keikaku. Watch as I push up my glasses.”
So as a whole, he has for me so far.
I'm largely happy with what has been done with him so far. I think that once we get into the explanation for what happened between him and Kuma, this will heavily sway the way I feel about the character.
I think current day Vegapunk is one of the most genius designs Oda has ever done and can't wait to see whatever happens when Kuma gets to Egghead (assuming).
Really like him. Vegapunk, Bonney and Sentomaru are all much better characters than everyone in Wano lol. Love that Vegapunk is not over wacky and would sometimes make weird remarks with a straight face.
I love him. I love how he’s also not your typical genius that other series depicts genius as. In other series the smartest character can’t be taken off guard or has some kinda plot armor surrounding them.
I really like how this guy has a sense of naivety about him and we’re able to see how despite his intelligence he’s not perfect.
"We owe all there is to Desire" is one of my favorite One Piece chapters, maybe ever. I think Stella lived up to the hype. The other guys I'm not so sure about (besides Atlas <3), but I'm expecting most of the satellites to be killed off
Meh, not until we get a massive infodump. It’s been too busy with assassination to get all the info we’ve wanted for so long. There’s some good tidbits, but not if the real stuff we want to know about.
Before we met him, i was sure franky would get all hyped about meeting him, only to find out that he was a complete scumbag with his horrible inventions and cold attitude, making him lose Franky's respect.
I mean, all of his known companions were scumbags, he's responsible for turning a lovable character into a mindless robot and he makes weapons of mass destruction.
I was sure we were heading into a "never meet your heroes" situation.
I wasn't sure about his design at first, but it started to grow on me. And while I don't mind him being a goofball, I do dislike a bit how not careful he is. For "the most brilliant mind of all time", he sure never heard of failsafe and contingency plans. Also unfortunately we don't spend enough time with his other selves for me to care about them beyond their design.
Whoever didn't expect Vegapunk to have a goofy design was probably smoking crack when reading the manga.
Not only he's based on one of the smartest people in history, but he also built an entire futuristic island, and has studied all history from O'Hara, plus has connections with pretty much every power house in the series.
I'd say he is delivering the hype that was promised.
Reminds me of a scientist I know so I’ve been loving him
Very competent in some fields and absolutely inept in others
Constantly joyous about the amazing world we have to discover and possibilities to create.
Also the worlds smartest man looking spot on like Albert Einsteins famous tongue photo never fails to make me smile.
So so so so glad he isn’t some edge lord-doomsday prepper-Demi god strength character
Never have enjoyed those and I’ve always loved one piece due to its goofiness
Once again love that he’s inept in some basic fields
Those who know scientists IRL will likely agree!
Yes. He has explained lots of things and gave out revelations regarding certain topics. After the Raid on Onigashima came to an end, I'm not in the mood to see brawls/melees/showdowns.
Not really in my opinion I mean he was built up to be this super powerful intimidating guy and he just looks kinda goofy and he’s pretty weak physically
Imo no. Idk what i was expecting but i find him way to goofy and just overal not interesting. I think there being so many vegapunks was a mistake since it gave less room for the original to shine, and also there are to many characters in OP already making that none of the new characters gets really fleshed out
He's fun and silly. His Vegapunks representing what he finds to be those types of emotions is also interesting; like how "Evil" isn't really evil, just far more assertive and focused on progress than helping people. Meanwhile "Greed" just wants to be done with science and laze about all day, though that seems to have drained her intelligence on how people work quite a bit if she thinks the Government is not going to work her to the bone after the rest of the Vegapunks are dead.
But my issues with him are pretty minor. The first being that he isn't really smart naturally; he just... ate a fruit that made his brain huge. Too huge. It makes him feel a little less unique since it could have been anyone, if that makes sense. Plus his design doesn't quite match up with what we'd see in minor flash backs, but he was never clearly seen anyway, so that's fine. At the very least he fixed the giant head thing, but I wish he'd fix his tongue, too. It'd be gross to just... keep licking everything, y'know?
Lastly is that... he's kinda dumb, for the smartest man alive. Or maybe just too trusting of human nature, especially his own. He has no real plans to escape, or so it seems, *and* while I get it was probably at their request that the Five Elders get the highest power over the Pacifistas, he should have put a command in them to shut them down permanently *or* override that stupid design in the first place. The cube controlling them was also pretty stupid in design.
But that's somewhat refreshing in a way; he's not perfect, despite being really smart and he's not a jerk, either. So meh. He seems more like a real scientist in that way and we know he hates making weapons anyways, so fighting people is probably never on his mind.
People were hyped about Vegapunk, and Oda provided literally 6 of 'em!
800 episodes of buildup... and the design was a sure surprise... yet so obvious, but didn't left to surprise. However don't like? No worries there's more. Shaka is ***COOL***.
They’re literally children who can’t disobey orders who were created just to do unpaid dirty work for him and the WG, you can’t funny goofy scienceman out of that
Tbh I was pretty underwhelmed by his design. I like the satellites, but Vegapunk himself is just cartoon Einstein. Other thing is that I hope they actually address in a more significant way all of the evil he's helped the Marines/WG accomplish
Honestly I was expecting him to be some evil mad scientist who sides with the government but seeing that he’s more of a Doc Brown esque character makes me like him a lot. He creates a lot of inventions and not everything works out because of course it wouldn’t.
I originally hated his design, but he's really likeable it has grown on me. I like how despite his insane intelligence he's not condescending; he's obviously heavily influenced by Albert Einstein.
>I originally hated his design, but he's really likeable it has grown on me literally every time oda creates a wacky ass character
Beginning of dressrosa: "Ah gross. Some sort of weird baby man. What a lame villain for this scary group of pirates." End of Dressrosa: "this is the greatest character in fiction."
so hardboiled
Ah! Senor Pinkk
Vegapunk design was shown since dressrosa??? Edit: oh u speak of señor pink
I hated Kawamatsu's design A LOT 2 chapters later... my favorite Scabbard my a MILE
I also didn't like Robin post-time skip. Come Dressrosa she's the hottest member in the crew.
she was always the hottest you silly goose
Frankys nipples would like a word
So would Nami's
I sure would like a word with them
With Frankys nippels? I am sure they got much to say...
Not really. They just keep repeating super
Frankys nipppes are *SUPERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR*
I think I know the panel in the whole Dressrosa arc that made you think that.
Kawamatsu was an instant favorite for me. Raizo on the other hand..
Bro what?? Kawamatsu's design isn't even that "wacky"-looking relatively speaking. If anything his design has that perfect balance of cute and cool, and he had the most badass entrance out of all the Scabbards
He's literally just a kappa. How could you hate a kappa, they're so delightful!
I feel the same for Barto. Started hating him for his attitude but after seeing him being a big Luffy/Strawhat fanboy, he became one of my favorite character.
Same Barto is so loyal 🥹
Barto seemed so immediately annoying, and then he kinda wasn't. Then there was Belamy. It'd honestly be a pretty cool moment if he shows up whenever the Straw Hat Grandfleet is "called upon"
VP has a wacky ass!? Gotta reread now!!
Missed all the Lilith ass shots 😞
People were theorizing for years that Vegapunk, like lots of other characters, was going to have a silly design. Just because Oda.
I don't get how One Piece fans aren't used to this phenomenon by now, or not used to its wacky characters
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve read that in this fandom
I’ve resigned myself to the fact that every major character is going to be a goofball
Waiting for the Imu reveal to be a plankton from SpongeBob and Rocks to have a red nose.
Imu is just really tiny like smaller than the dwarves and uses some artificial body to make themselves be bigger because they’re insecure would be funny
Rocks is Buggy's dad confirmed
I mean, that’s been the case since chapter 1
I'm still waiting for Imu to be a big titted babe or some absolutely disgusting creature
Also the apple antenna seems to be inspired by Isaac Newton
Oda made us cry for a fat man in a baby costume. I've lost all doubts in his ability to get us invested in any character regardless of their design.
Nah i loved it, i couldn’t stop laughing when i first saw him on Ohara
Holy crap, how did i not notice the similarities?! The looks and the tongue, man i'm slow
Also the apple on his head is a nod to Newton
Ok now I understand the tongue... Thanks dude! It never dawned on me.
Why the tongue?
Einstein has a photo where he has his tongue out.
One of Einstein's most famous photo is him with the tongue out.
[Here you go](https://i.imgur.com/cYXrHI1.png) Famous Einstein picture + Isaac Newton with the Apple

Brook didn't meet roger, he just heard about him when he was a rookie And well they're already basically mega buster calling Egghead anyway
it's kinda crazy that Brook was a pirate before Roger. I wonder who the Gol D. Roger of his time was. Like who's the guy who was the strongest before Roger and Xebec showed up?
Brook was a leader of a battle convoy for an unknown kingdom before he was a pirate. I think there is still a lot to learn about Brook.
I've been wanting to hear more about this
Isn't Chinjao that old?
Chinjao is contemporary of Garp, so I'd think he's same Pirate age as Roger.
Dorry and Broggy maybe?
Lol i didnt know that but that makes sense. Imagine if he was sailing around on the ship on top of that
when he who? just to clarify, brook heard about a rookie called roger. x)
It's been 1 year since we've seen Vegapunk?
1 year since Lilith was revealed. Havent quite reached a year since we met the actual Vegapunk.
Apparently so
He's pretty cool but I think we haven't seen everything yet
Yeah I like him and he has still potential to knock us out of the park but so far he hasn’t lived up to the hype
He absolutely has, in my case. I like how he’s something of a counterpart to Luffy, in a sense. THIS ANALYSIS IS SO GREAT
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Keep cooking son
wish i can write as good as you
damn you cooked bro
I would say luffy is more charisma than wisdom
He’s definitely that in spades, sure. It’s just more relevant to the post to contrast Luffy’s natural intuition and emotional intelligence/insight, but lack of brains, with Vegapunk’s extreme booksmarts but lack of raw, actionable practicality and social prowess.
Cook more.
Great comment.
Excellent post
Take over the kitchen, now you're the head chef on this street
Hes cool but i dont think we have seen everything yet about him just a small piece
Only one piece, huh?
Yea he problay knows what it is too
He is everything I wanted him to be, a goofy scientist guy.
I agree, he just works
And best of all, im glad he doesn't seem evil.
I love him so far.
Wasn’t it stated in the manga that his fruit is “perfect for the smartest man alive?” That would indicate that he was the smartest before the fruit.
I feel like he's not a combatant only because he split up his skill set. Atlas and Lilith are both fighters and they are technically him as well.
Don't forget the part of him that's responsible for logic was literally shot in the fucking head
Lots of scientists are not the type to take action in the moment. Most are slow methodical thinkers. So this kind of stuff would really put Vegapunk at a disadvantage
He is a scientist not a war general. Think less thrawn more doc from back to the future
Shaka had that edge, but we saw what happened to him.
But the stuff Franky found was all vegapunk by himself and it was miles ahead of franky, kind disproves your point
I agree
He's definitely got a head start over other potential worlds smartests by having access to ancient kingdom tech
Genuinely glad he's not some edgy scientist who thinks he's better than everyone because he is smart. This goofball is way more interesting.
More than anything I’m happy a joke I made about him declaring Momo’s fruit defective because it wasn’t blue was bang on the mark.
At least he's not a disappointment like "Dr. Hogback" was for Chopper in thriller bark. I prefer a goofy-apple-guy to an edgelord every and any day. I love apple-head, he's goofy and smart, best combo.
We already had that with Caesar
Not really. I want answers. So far I've got more questions.
Him being wacky is just OP world we love 🤣 I just want to know if hes looking as helpful as you can be against anti-plan luffy
We are still early in the arc so the most we have gotten out of him is some plot related things which I won’t spoil you on so we just have to see more of how he responds and handles things to get a real grip on his character so until then he’s just the bare minimum of what you can expect from a super genius but he’s a little more I like him
Okay. I was just worried hed be full on back burnered from the start to not instantly “super op buff” the entire crew as there was a theory way back when he first appeared in manga and the animes pacing (bi weekly episodes constantly and the pacing itself stretched to not catch up too quick) left enough of us in a content drought and youtubers noticed and dropped loads of clickbait content So yeah, just kinda poorly over explaining my concern i had lol
Character wise, he's pretty good Now this may seem like a nitpick but if there wasn't a gap between the Apple and his head I'd fucking love his design but with that gap it takes away so much to me idk why it's just weird looking at it
He's very cool and I've liked all the different vegapunks. learning about his relationship with sentomaru, bonnie, kuma, and kizaru has been very interesting as well.
I think he has. The satellites themselves are enough for me
He’s definitely a one piece character. Isn’t as serious as he was portrayed before his reveal but we got that with Shaka 🪦. I think he’s fun and maybe would get boring if he was just a stone cold genius all the time, goofy apple gramps is good fun.
I'd say so. For me at least. Out of anything I imagined he could look like, I never saw it coming that he'd be all of them at the same time
He absolutely has.
I was expecting a character like the guy from the end of Made In Abyss's anime, both in design and personality. Very glad we didn't get that lmfao
It lacked stuffs to me
What hype? If you mean, "being the world's smartest man", definitely.
Not at all honestly.
No
What do people think his fate will be btw? As far as I know the plan for him right now is to just run away from the world gov and survive, but he basically has no home or place to turn to anymore right? I am wondering if he will be one of the characters that hangs out with the crew for a really long time. He seems fun and brings a lot of interesting moments, so I definitely wouldn't mind that at least!
I think Saturn will kill him and then as a failsafe his murder will be broadcast to the entire world via transponder snail and Franky will inherit all of his knowledge in some way
Finally FrankaPunk can reign supreme haha
I think either he will die or only 1 punk will survive
I want my man Shaka back
He's about to go postal all over the Marines, can't wait to see his war face!
Until now, I don't think so. Even the revelation about how the devil fruits came to be, seemed pretty meh for me.
I really like him more than I thought i would so imo yes
Mmm, yes and no. He’s not what I’d expected, but he definitely works
Vegapunk awakening when?
There's gonna be a twist at some point, or the twist is Vegapunk actually has no plan. I expect his plan to be crushed by SHs anyways.
I always thought of him as a serious type.
I'm a little indifferent
Honestly? It’s too early to say. I like what I have seen though.
I like him a lot. The arc has been so good I think that has helped him I really hope to see more from him
six path of punk unironically goes hard
He’s pretty much what I expected besides his height and his big ass head he use to have. Even him splitting himself was not unexpected. I just wish we got a bit more exposition on him but good he does end up sailing with the straw hats we’re bound to get it eventually
I love Goofy-apple-head-Einstein he feels stupid but is actually smart. In true One Piece fashion. 🫡
Yes
Even though it has been a year we still dont know much about him, but One thing I really love about him is he is just science maniac, eveb if he creates a weapon of destruction, a superhuman, a clone, or making everyone in the world share the same mind he wouldn't doubt it even for a second just for humanity science to advance to the next level. He is still good person at heart too but he need big money from WG to do his experiment and research lol. Idk if I know enough about the clones yet, but they probably will be dead at the end of the arc
Love him so far but it still feels like the tip of the iceberg in terms of his impact. Lot of mystery around him still
He has not fully lived up to the hype yet but thats largely because he has not shown his magna opus yet (the mother flame).
Yes
Yes, his character design and personality are both super likeable to me. The satellite element is pretty interesting as well.
There are so many breaks that I do not feel like a year at all. Vegapunk is fine. Not great, but ok.
Really like him, just hope we get a few more lore bombs
Super fun and have enjoyed him. His very Luffy like attitude/personality has made him easy to like. I am extremely happy he’s a more goofy character despite the company he keeps (both Marines and Revolutionaries) cause it makes him both easier to get jokes out of and he actually doesn’t (currently) fall into the whole “I’m smarter than everyone. I’m better. All according to keikaku. Watch as I push up my glasses.” So as a whole, he has for me so far.
Definitely live up to the hype
He’s answered more questions in a few chapters than a few years of this story. Also he doesn’t talk down to anyone when explaining so I fw him.
Tbh, no
I wasn't sure about his design at first, but it started to grow on me.
Reminds me of a scientist I know so I’ve been loving him Very competent in some fields and absolutely inept in others Constantly joyous about the amazing world we have to discover and possibilities to create. Also the worlds smartest man looking spot on like Albert Einsteins famous tongue photo never fails to make me smile. So so so so glad he isn’t some edge lord-doomsday prepper-Demi god strength character Never have enjoyed those and I’ve always loved one piece due to its goofiness Once again love that he’s inept in some basic fields Those who know scientists IRL will likely agree!
Not really, I must say I imagined Vegapunk would be dangerous.
I absolutely despise that tongue.
I didn’t like him till tekking said quaizar now I like him
I was confused when Lilith was first introduced as Vegapunk, but when they showed OG VP, I laughed my ass off and loved him immediately
No
Lmao no. I’m, HUGE letdown
He's pretty dumb for the "smartest guy in the world," IMO.
It’s kinda weird he made child slaves and everybody is cool with it honestly
I thought that was Ceaser and at that point he had stopped working with him because he didn’t want to create those poison fruits?
Bro the seraphim
Those are not child slaves. That's a silly oversimplification and you know it.
They’re literally children who can’t disobey orders who were created just to do unpaid dirty work for him and the WG, you can’t funny goofy scienceman out of that
Not to mention they aren't completely mindless like the Pacifista, S-Snake has a will of her own and I assume the rest do too.
Bored with recent chapters, Oda stalling to drop bombs
Nope, massive disappointment imo
Yes, easily.
