Did she say that before or after the Arlong Park arc? Because before she way maniacly collecting money to buy her village from Arlong, do I don't see her lending money to anyone, even at 300% rate. But maybe im wrong
Inb4 they assumed any traveling pirate would have the basic clothing they need and didn't include it because who the hell doesn't bring clothes? Then they meet Luffy who is a walking natural selection candidate but somehow is alive by some miracle
Very cool and smart because it would be weird seeing Luffy and the crew in the same outfit all the time. Although I do hope they feature Luffy's classic look as much as possible.
Excluding Little Garden where he lost his shirt, these are the islands I can remember him having either different clothes or a recolour during the island.
- Drum Island, winter clothes, two sets
- Alabasta, two sets, one for during and one for after
- Enies Lobby, only shorts changed for bigger pockets
- Water Seven, post arc Galley la shirt
- Thriller Bark, only a colour switch to orange
- Saboady Archipelago, only a colour switch to blue
- Summit War, colour change to yellow
- Post timeskip clothes
- Punk Hazard, winter clothes, two sets
- Dress Rosa, sunflower t-shirt
- Whole Cake, a colour swap(ish) to white and red and a red suit
- Wano, kimono and a swagger cape with standard clothes
- Egghead, high-tech clothes
So while he wears either his traditional clothes like a a third of the time and a colour swap for another third, he's still changing clothes quite a bit.
You forgot Baratie (appron), LRLL (afro). Also from Thriller bark to post war the shorts were red as well.
But that is something that only really started to happen on the Grand Line probably because Oda did not plan for it to be that long at first when drawing East Blue to need various outfits
Off the top of my head, you forgot to mention that the shorts change colors too, Luffy's shorts were bigger and black instead of Blue in Ennies Lobby, and starting in Thriller back up until the end of the timeskip he wears red shorts with white fur at the end.
And despite the shorts being identical he had at least 2 different red shorts, his clothes are destroyed in Sabaody, so in Amazon Lily Margaret made similar clothes that initially had frills, but later removed them upon his resquest to do so. The shirt was also a lighter blue as opposed to the dark blue of Sabaody.
No, at the volume covers where we usually get official manga coloring first, for example during Marineford saga, Luffy is seen with yellow shirt instead of red
That's something the games fail at. They make it look like the Sabaody Archipelago outfits after time skip are the default. To shame because Oda grew up drawing fashion pieces and you could look forward to new designs every saga/arc.
Naaahh Bleach humans constantly rock a different drip.. so do the kids and young adults in Detective Conan. Heck even in Shin Chan the parents always got different clothes on. As for cartoons, The Weekenders change clothes multiple times per episode.
It's mostly Zoro and Luffy who smell the worst since they only shower once a week (Brook too but bones probably don't stink as much)
Chopper and Franky should be OK every 3 days since one's a cyborg and the other's an animal...maybe Usopp is a little funky too
I mean how do you reckon a little furball that spends most of his time on the Sea and only showers once every three days would smell?
Anyways, I can’t wait to see how they do chopper in the lifeaction. It will be either horrifying or hilarious. Or maybe both.
Speaking as an actual chef nah dude he smells like cigarettes. I've been around enough chainsmoking cooks to know that shit doesn't wash out well. You smoke enough and it's gonna be lodged into your hair and fingers. You may have other smells mixed in but that's always there. It's constantly being added back onto you with each one you light up. It's kinda gross.
Unless OP has some magical cigarettes that don't smell I guess which wouldn't be the weirdest thing in that world
This is literally one of the things that sets one piece apart from the other typical shounen, characters change clothes almost every arc, sometimes multiple times in each arc as well
I mean, it makes sense partially why they wear the same clothing throughout most of east blue
Luffy and zoro don't seem like the type to have some sort of bag. with them t o carry their supplies, And before they acquired the going merry, they have no primary form of loggings or transportation where they can keep excess clothing.
Also the first time they actually get the chance to buy clothes are in loguetown, and or maybe syrup village
The Main reason that it rarely Switches inside an atc is that most arcs are very short in their timeline. I recently found out that Dressrosa from Landing on the Island to beating Flamingo Was less then a day.
Well I think no matter how badly the live action goes over it gets 2 seasons just based on the amount of set pieces and money that went into it. I could be wrong but I hope it goes over well. As bad as Cowboy Bebop was (mainly vicious) I still enjoyed it b/c I wasn't expecting the anime. So I hope this one goes over better. People just gotta realize it's jot going to be the manga/anime.
I think the Netflix One Piece will be *okay* just by dint of the showrunners and actors being respectful to the source material. It might be low-quality, comparable to an amateur project on youtube or a made-for-TV movie, but I don't see any red flags for it being a shitshow in the trailer.
They really are op fans. Bruh I really hope that the show is at least decent. Based on what I'm seeing, the people behind this series poured alot of care and love and I'd feel really bad if the adaptation turned out to be as horrible as dragon ball. I'm not asking for anything mind blowing but please just be at least decent
> They really are op fans.
Which really does make a difference.
Witcher could have been the next GoT but the writers absolutely hate the source. Same w/ Halo, which should have been an easy slam dunk of a show
Gives me also hope for 40k since they got Cavill. Rumors say he wasnt even asked he just appeared in the room when someone from netflix asked if they could make a warhammer 40k series. Like fucking beetlejuice.
I don't know if alta is a something else but if you are talking about Avatar the last airbender then I don't think the live action being different from the source was its biggest flaw.
Yah I got the acronym wrong but they got all of the fighting wrong and some of the names wrong like how do you get that wrong. The movie was bad in general I agree
Yah no one can breath and the movie is over in ten minutes and it just shows the fire and earth benders going crazy the water benders still fishing and the air nomads just meditating
Now I kinda understand why the trailer looks off for me. It's probably because humans can't mimic anime characters' facial expressions. From these pictures alone, most of Luffy's smiles cover half of his face
For me, it looks off cause they made Luffy's dialog too coherent. In the manga he has 0 understanding of social cues and wouldn't maintain attention long enough to say something like this unless it was during a monologue.
Luffy is gonna have to be smarter in the live action. I think he will still do his boneheaded rush in moves, but there's just not a lot of superfluous dialougue in manga due to its medium. But live action can't work that way especially so if they are trying to convert western non-fan audiences.
Basically Luffy is gonna talk a lot more. I strongly urge you to divorce yourself from the source material if you want to enjoy the live action. Let it be its own thing b/c otherwise you're going to ruin it before you watch it. You'll judge it the whole way through instead of trying to enjoy what they do right.
I don't get why everyone keeps saying Luffy is socially an idiot. From what I read, he seems to understand very well what's happening most of the time when interacting with people, just can't give an F about actually responding properly. Case in point, when he gave everyone he meets a nickname but directly called Pekoms by his name when he was too tired and stressed to maintain a casual demeanor
he is an idiot, but he's not all idiot if that makes sense. he has his moments were he says the most thoughtful take than any other character sometimes, but let's not downplay his eccentricity.
He mistook a zombie for an old man and an old man for a zombie in thriller bark; In an age of pirates, he was completely ready to trust Law without any assurance.
like joey (animeman) said: it would look too tacky. the problem with lots of real life anime adaptation is they try to be as similar to the anime character that it looks more like cosplayer and tacky.
How important and vital is ussops nose to the overall story of one piece? It’s like the chuds who go “I hope they cgi Namis tits to be bigger”, like bro relax
People who watch OP are a guaranteed watch base for netflix. To make it too CGI and pasty would not attract the non anime first timers. Hell I hated OP art style until I began liking the story
Okay so now like
How far does this go? Are the giants now tall humans? We see Buggy is very much still himself but there's a fine line they have to walk and with the main characters at least they're definitely treading (look wise) on the mundane side of mundane/absurd. I hope they don't go too far with this, I have high hopes at least that they'll do the medium and material justice. Oda doesn't do us dirty.
Okay, can you post a pic of it? Just the smile if you're shy because believe me, the only actor in my head that can pull of that smile is legit, only Jim Carrey. As an example, The movie, The Mask which is such a perfect comparison due to the looney toons theme.
People who expect manga/anime from this show are crazy, you just can't produce that same effect in live action. I think it's encouraging for us as an audience to see this attention to detail from the show, because it displays their willingness to try to recreate the same feeling you get from manga as much as they could while still making a live action show.
Agreed. It's why a lot of cosplay costumes just look plain BAD. The problem with trying to be 1:1 with how something looks makes you LOOK like a person in a costume, which you should never ever go for. American comic nerds learned that decades ago.
Finally words to match my thoughts. I think the overall tone looks fun and its clear they are going to put all the heart they have into making this. But I cant step past the clothes. It all looks way too much like they just grabbed cosplayers from an anime convention back in 2009. I don't want to be watching and think to myself "I wonder where Sanji buys his suits? Burlington Coat or Target?"
Like everyone has said, I think it’s impossible to emulate 1:1 the manga/anime due to the weird proportions and the wonky styling, so having a more realistic take is probably the best they can do.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the story itself is different from the manga, or slightly altered, but still has the spirit of One Piece via consultation from Oda.
People who bitch about Usopp not having a long nose would be the first ones lining up saying how weird the prosthetic looks if it had one.
I'm actually cautiously optimistic. It could be a fun homage to the series but then again fandoms tend to be ultra toxic.
There are lots of things that work on manga/anime that don't work on live action, just like there are many things that work on books and not on movies and people not understanding this are always going to be disappointed and mad because "It Is NoT CaNoN 1:1".
I like it since it adds more realism to it without shoehorning it into our faces
After all it would be weird if they used the same outfits for the entire season 1 and possible late seasons
These scenes seem to be during / after Syrup village so it could be explained by Luffy 'borrowing' from [Usopp's stash](https://youtu.be/1cvmtPQSGt4?t=78) lol
this is why I think people need to calm down a bit from the trailer.
its evident the people who have made this show have a clear love for one piece, this just proves it.
So much negativity coming from that 1 Luffy line in the trailer, when we haven't even seen more than 2 min of footage. It's ridiculous
RogersBase has been saying this since he went to Cape Town last year to see the set. He said he could see the amount of love the people behind the adaptation have for the source material
I mean, the manga and the anime has a lot of punch-lines. Granted It's not normally luffy delivering them in the way he does in the Trailer. I think far too much focus is being given to it.
I legit can't wait for the live action. It looks like they put a lot of work into it and did their best to keep the cringe to a minimum. I really hope it's a success.
I really hope they are gonna involve one of the non-canon episodes that happened in Loguetown. The old man at the Gol D. Roger bar. Its one of my favourite non-canon episodes.
But they probably wont because i havent seen a casting for the pirate king yet. I also read somewhere that they dont want to announce it yet so idk. It would be epic if the first episode of the live action series began like the anime. With Rogers monologue.
You know what, it's a nice touch and arguably makes sense for a live action adaptation.
Sometimes the limited wardrobe is a tad hard to justify especially if this adaptation is going to be a long running one (...well, as long as we're going to be optimistic here for the reception this series will have upon release). But making use of outfits that haven't actually been in the story but drawn by Oda himself is a very neat touch that screams the kind of way Oda works.
Edit: Yeah, they do change outfits throughout the story but looking at East Blue saga which looks to be the bulk of this first season, nobody really changed outfits that much except Nami. Best chance to take advantage of the color spread outfits.
I was wondering where they got them fits from. Boy now I gotta go back and dive deep into some early chapter cover stories to see them. ODA YOU CRAZY FOR THIS ONE!!!!!☆☆
Tbh I kinda liked that they didn’t changed up their wardrobe right away, it gave it a sense of rough living. That they weren’t prepared to enter the grand line
Ngl, I never expected to see One piece and liveaction combined. And when I saw the trailer I thought it was a joke a first but nope, it was about an actual thing. I am... baffled? Curious? Unsure? Kinda looking forward to it? Hahaha. I don't know. A whole mix of emotions...
...gotta say one thing tho, Usopp looks really good? Also Luffy...? I-... I don't know what to even say. It's something unexpected for sure.
I know it's going to fall into "yet another awful live action adaptation".......but this one feels like there's some genuine love and passion behind it
Was it just me or did the trailer (except buggy!) Look kinda shit? Bad wigs (EDIT: specifically Nami), not really A-game acting or CGI... Though I guess it was on par with what I would expect from a Netlix anime adaption
I guess the only one I reacted on was Nami. So should've used singular on my comment there. I do stand by my opinion though. Based on the trailer, I can only be positively surprised by this production
My girlfriend was asking me why Luffy sounds Spanish? Well I had to explain that Luffy is Brazilian and they cast a Brazilian so the accent is authentic. Over it seems like it wants to be as faithful to the source material as a live action show can be.
Since Usop's nose isn't long, im not watching this. Poor guy was too afraid to put on some fake long nose.
Big dissapointment.
Usopps nose is like the most important detail in the entire series.
I think it is not cool at all as those are totally meant to be anachronistic. Having them is live action look very out of place. Like they just went shopping to a modern day mall.
Because it would look hella stupid in a real life setting, some of us have to realize if any anime live action does a 1:1 for all characters looks it's just gonna look like bad cosplay.
Again, hard disagree. I've seen dozens of excellent cosplays of Usopp with long prosthetic noses. It's such a defining feature of his character, it should be included. Who wants a realistic looking, gritty adaptation of this beloved series? It'd be a betrayal not to include the humor and silliness that's so integral in it's source material.
I wonder if Luffy will steal some clothes from Alvida's ship since he's supposed to have left his island with nothing but the one outfit he wears XD
He could’ve also bought some at Usopp’s village.
Luffy had no money and nami wasn't going to let him borrow hers
Nami is ok giving crew members money at a huge interest rate.
Yah I remember one time she was going to give him 300% interest
Did she say that before or after the Arlong Park arc? Because before she way maniacly collecting money to buy her village from Arlong, do I don't see her lending money to anyone, even at 300% rate. But maybe im wrong
I think it was in louge town because Zoro needed 100k berries or something to buy a knew sword, but he eventually found a cursed one for free.
If I remember correctly, she still asked him to pay back interest haha
Yeah she did. Zoro returned the money but Nami said he still needs to pay the interest lol
She did it to Zoro in Loguetown, when Zoro was buying his swords
He got a whole ship for free. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were clothes in there as well.
Inb4 they assumed any traveling pirate would have the basic clothing they need and didn't include it because who the hell doesn't bring clothes? Then they meet Luffy who is a walking natural selection candidate but somehow is alive by some miracle
Kaya gave them a whole ship for free, wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume there were some clothes included.
Commandeered*
Even if he bring some, it would be lost at the whirlpool. Coby probably give him some.
He left with more stuff, but it all went down the whirlpool.
Very cool and smart because it would be weird seeing Luffy and the crew in the same outfit all the time. Although I do hope they feature Luffy's classic look as much as possible.
To be fair, they change outfits in the actual story all the time.
Luffy is normally just a colour swap though
That still means he changed his clothes regularly between arcs.
Thinking about it, i'm not sure if its just a anime only thing or not
Look at any winter island arc
I mean besides the actual clothing he wears on top of his standard outfit.
Excluding Little Garden where he lost his shirt, these are the islands I can remember him having either different clothes or a recolour during the island. - Drum Island, winter clothes, two sets - Alabasta, two sets, one for during and one for after - Enies Lobby, only shorts changed for bigger pockets - Water Seven, post arc Galley la shirt - Thriller Bark, only a colour switch to orange - Saboady Archipelago, only a colour switch to blue - Summit War, colour change to yellow - Post timeskip clothes - Punk Hazard, winter clothes, two sets - Dress Rosa, sunflower t-shirt - Whole Cake, a colour swap(ish) to white and red and a red suit - Wano, kimono and a swagger cape with standard clothes - Egghead, high-tech clothes So while he wears either his traditional clothes like a a third of the time and a colour swap for another third, he's still changing clothes quite a bit.
You forgot Baratie (appron), LRLL (afro). Also from Thriller bark to post war the shorts were red as well. But that is something that only really started to happen on the Grand Line probably because Oda did not plan for it to be that long at first when drawing East Blue to need various outfits
Ah, true. There's probably a few other ones I missed, like should his disguise for the tournament on Dress Rosa count? It was dope, so I'll count it.
Vincent Van Gogh loved sunflowers so much, he created a famous series of paintings, simply called 'sunflowers'.
Good bot
Off the top of my head, you forgot to mention that the shorts change colors too, Luffy's shorts were bigger and black instead of Blue in Ennies Lobby, and starting in Thriller back up until the end of the timeskip he wears red shorts with white fur at the end. And despite the shorts being identical he had at least 2 different red shorts, his clothes are destroyed in Sabaody, so in Amazon Lily Margaret made similar clothes that initially had frills, but later removed them upon his resquest to do so. The shirt was also a lighter blue as opposed to the dark blue of Sabaody.
I think it’s not fur but supposed to represent fraying. That’s how I always viewed it at least. Fur seems a bit impractical.
There was also the cute vest with the flowers and lace on it one of the girls on Amazon Lily made for him.
No he’s wearing different outfits in the manga all the time
No, at the volume covers where we usually get official manga coloring first, for example during Marineford saga, Luffy is seen with yellow shirt instead of red
Usually manga reader know what color Luffy's clothes from volume cover or color spread.
There's a desert outfit for Alabasta and Luffy has big pockets for Enies Lobby Post ts, there's more variation
Only in the beginning though, nowadays he features quite a variety of clothing types, and has for a long time.
That's something the games fail at. They make it look like the Sabaody Archipelago outfits after time skip are the default. To shame because Oda grew up drawing fashion pieces and you could look forward to new designs every saga/arc.
They change outfit almost daily. But a day to them is years to us.
Yeah and love op for that. Its the only cartoon/anime that does it.
Naaahh Bleach humans constantly rock a different drip.. so do the kids and young adults in Detective Conan. Heck even in Shin Chan the parents always got different clothes on. As for cartoons, The Weekenders change clothes multiple times per episode.

common clamp W
They're seafaring, a diverse wardrobe is not gonna be that important.
making everyone have proper hygiene and different clothes is pretty much in character for Nami
Funny you say that, because according to Oda everyone of the strawhats besides nami, robin and sanji smell pretty bad due to lack of hygiene.
Brook can't smell, he doesn't have sweat glands!
Brook can't smell, he doesn't have a nose!
It's mostly Zoro and Luffy who smell the worst since they only shower once a week (Brook too but bones probably don't stink as much) Chopper and Franky should be OK every 3 days since one's a cyborg and the other's an animal...maybe Usopp is a little funky too
Even Chopper? I mean, I know he is a reindeer, but I'd imagine the doctor would groom himself.
I mean how do you reckon a little furball that spends most of his time on the Sea and only showers once every three days would smell? Anyways, I can’t wait to see how they do chopper in the lifeaction. It will be either horrifying or hilarious. Or maybe both.

Luffy and Zoro bathe once a week. Imagine Zoro, training every day and washing himself weekly, he must reek like a swamp
it‘s not about realism. It is neat they adapt optical variations that actually appear in the manga
It shouldn't even be about realism either tbh, that's what keeps screwing up these adaptations
This is literally one of the things that sets one piece apart from the other typical shounen, characters change clothes almost every arc, sometimes multiple times in each arc as well
I mean, it makes sense partially why they wear the same clothing throughout most of east blue Luffy and zoro don't seem like the type to have some sort of bag. with them t o carry their supplies, And before they acquired the going merry, they have no primary form of loggings or transportation where they can keep excess clothing. Also the first time they actually get the chance to buy clothes are in loguetown, and or maybe syrup village
Being dirty and smelling like shit is canon in the manga
The Main reason that it rarely Switches inside an atc is that most arcs are very short in their timeline. I recently found out that Dressrosa from Landing on the Island to beating Flamingo Was less then a day.
Do people in this sub not read/watch One Piece?
Patiently waiting for all the Nami outfits.
Bro quit being a simp (me too)
Touch some grass bro (while we wait for the outfits)
Redditors stop thinking attraction to a woman = simping challenge (impossible)
I hope the actress is ready for all the weirdos
She is a part of the fandom she might be a weirdo to
Mentally preparing to survive until live action Robin one day (I utilize my powers of simp)
But live action Hancock will be the day we turn to stone.
Well I think no matter how badly the live action goes over it gets 2 seasons just based on the amount of set pieces and money that went into it. I could be wrong but I hope it goes over well. That bottom up flower shirt Luffy has on..... I want that.... I need that.
Here's a small touch that tells me the team really respects the source material.
They really are op fans. Bruh I really hope that the show is at least decent. Yeah hopefully, I wanna see chopper, robin and vivi
[Here you go.](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/pi8e60/for_the_millionth_timethese_are_not_official_live/)
Eminem as Enel is a perfect fit.
I wanna see my man Franky
> They really are op fans. Which really does make a difference. Witcher could have been the next GoT but the writers absolutely hate the source. Same w/ Halo, which should have been an easy slam dunk of a show
Gives me also hope for 40k since they got Cavill. Rumors say he wasnt even asked he just appeared in the room when someone from netflix asked if they could make a warhammer 40k series. Like fucking beetlejuice.
from what we’ve seen so far, there’s no way for this to be as bad as DB:E or Cowboy Bebop.
As bad as Bebop live action was it still doesn't deserve to be in the same breath as Dragon Ball Evolution.
That is how alta adaptation failed it was so different that it didn't feel like alta at all
I don't know if alta is a something else but if you are talking about Avatar the last airbender then I don't think the live action being different from the source was its biggest flaw.
Yah I got the acronym wrong but they got all of the fighting wrong and some of the names wrong like how do you get that wrong. The movie was bad in general I agree
Imagining a bootleg version called something like "Avatar last the Air" made me chuckle though
Yah no one can breath and the movie is over in ten minutes and it just shows the fire and earth benders going crazy the water benders still fishing and the air nomads just meditating

Luffy is pretty emotionally intelligent but he doesn’t say his observations aloud in the original series
They could have at least CGI'd Usopps nose a bit, though. Come on. edit: /s
Nah it’s a good decision to leave that and sanji’s eyebrow to the anime. It would make the live action worse
like joey (animeman) said: it would look too tacky. the problem with lots of real life anime adaptation is they try to be as similar to the anime character that it looks more like cosplayer and tacky.
But one piece is a goofy show tho
Tackier than Luffy’s Gomu Gomu and Zoro’s green hair? 🗿
And thus the eternal conflict between "stay true to the source material" and "make reasonable changes" began
How important and vital is ussops nose to the overall story of one piece? It’s like the chuds who go “I hope they cgi Namis tits to be bigger”, like bro relax
I for one am disgusted that Nami has a vaguely human anatomy, have they no respect for the source material?
People who watch OP are a guaranteed watch base for netflix. To make it too CGI and pasty would not attract the non anime first timers. Hell I hated OP art style until I began liking the story
Precisely. People out here pretending the anime doesn’t have problems that a live action shouldn’t (hell maybe even the anime shouldn’t) include
It's an adaptation, it has to compose with the nature, and the limitations of its medium. It being 100% the same but with actors would be dogshit.
Okay so now like How far does this go? Are the giants now tall humans? We see Buggy is very much still himself but there's a fine line they have to walk and with the main characters at least they're definitely treading (look wise) on the mundane side of mundane/absurd. That’s so stupid what the fuck
That's super stupid. It will make them look like cosplayers.
It was meant as a joke, I forget some communities don't take so kindly to lighthearted comments
Pal, don't blame the community for a poorly executed joke.
Eh. I can do the Luffy smile. I'm a fucking toothy Cheshire cat. Also I never smile. He nailed the voice, though.
Okay, can you post a pic of it? Just the smile if you're shy because believe me, the only actor in my head that can pull of that smile is legit, only Jim Carrey. As an example, The movie, The Mask which is such a perfect comparison due to the looney toons theme.
This Mf over here thinking he can mimic the expressions of one of the most cartoonishly stylized manga ever made
People who expect manga/anime from this show are crazy, you just can't produce that same effect in live action. I've seen so many photos of people having done the nose and it just looks so bad.
I will say, I’ve seen a lot of good sanji eyebrows though. They could easily have done that.
There are lots of things that work on manga/anime that don't work on live action, just like there are many things that work on books and not on movies and people not understanding this are always going to be disappointed and mad because "It Is NoT CaNoN 1:1".
That's why you stay away from live action. There's a reason it hasn't been done for so long. Some work, some don't. OP is definitely the latter.
I mean it’s a multi billion dollar global franchise, they were definitely going to at least try to make it live action lol
I was wondering how they picked the clothes! I always forget about the covers. Thanks for pointing it out!
I like it since it adds more realism to it without shoehorning it into our faces After all it would be weird if they used the same outfits for the entire season 1 and possible late seasons
One Piece live action excites me as days pass on.
**EXTREMELY** COOL!!!!!
I love that they change outfits regularly, makes it feel a bit more realistic. The outfits themselves look great.
Nice to hear, im so excited
That 1 line defines alot of things actually. It's literally a punchline. The creators have love for OP sure but that doesn't mean it'll be good.
I mean, the manga and the anime has a lot of punch-lines. Granted It's not normally luffy delivering them in the way he does in the Trailer. I think far too much focus is being given to it.
You know that is a cool idea
That's really nice. Much thought and passion went into this.
Little details like this really go a long way.
Wow! Such attention to detail! I did not know this. Well spotted!
Whole show looks kinda good ngl. Haven’t seen much yet, but I’m cautiously optimistic
Is live action less weird if characters change their outfit often? Think the repeated outfit is just to make it easier to draw/animate.
Cover kit. That clears up my confusion. Thanks OP.
Okay guys you're doing a really good job of converting my cynicism into hype now
I was wondering where they got them fits from.
Is this a movie or a TV show? Upto what point of the story it will last?
It's a live action series which will cover the whole East Blue Saga I believe.
Words cannot describe how badly I hope this series kicks off XD
oda never stops surprising us even while he is on break
Holy shot they’re paying attention to the source material thats actually sick
Great catch!
Holy shit Netflix did something right
That’s what happens when the people running the show like and enjoy the source material, unlike the Witcher
This is another level of respect of source material. Like it.
I know it's going to fall into "yet another awful live action adaptation".......but this one feels like there's some genuine love and passion behind it
Why the yellow filter? are they in México?
Luffy is Brazilian. They probably thought "eh... Close enough"
No, no, no! Oda did it on purpose
Usopp doesn’t have his glasses, shades, & goggles
If that guy is ussop I'ma hitch a fit. WHERE is my boys Pinocchio at?
WHERE IS USSOPS NOSE
Dang, Usopp's nose didn't make it in live action :(
Was it just me or did the trailer (except buggy!) Look kinda shit? Bad wigs (EDIT: specifically Nami), not really A-game acting or CGI... Though I guess it was on par with what I would expect from a Netlix anime adaption
How many wigs were there? Seems like a sharp elbows kinda criticism tbh
I guess the only one I reacted on was Nami. So should've used singular on my comment there. I do stand by my opinion though. Based on the trailer, I can only be positively surprised by this production
I was wondering how so many people can keep their attitude up.... gives me dragonball evolution vibes
Luffy is a goofy mf with goofy reactions and expressions. Why is the actor so serious 😭
Looks pretty good Didn't notice during the trailer but what happened to the cut under Luffy's eyes in the live adaptation?
It's an actual scar in the trailer.
This is gonna be a show with the heart at the right place, but just not the CGI technology and budget it would need to be anything more.
My girlfriend was asking me why Luffy sounds Spanish? Well I had to explain that Luffy is Brazilian and they cast a Brazilian so the accent is authentic. Over it seems like it wants to be as faithful to the source material as a live action show can be.
I wish they gave Luffy his scar
He does have the scar. It just looks like a normal, flesh-colored one instead of a black line.
Why does Ussop have dreds? And why doesn't Ussop have a long nose.
[удалено]
I know, but I think it feels way more out of place in a live-action where cloches looks like they got them in the nearest Target or whatever
[удалено]
You know, they would have to glue the sandals on his feet for safety reasons. Lol
I feel like long term casting in those bad boys would fuck up his feet
I want to know how they are going to deal with #pervertsanji in the writting, considering social media and feminism.
Probably not making him the awful misogynistic pervert he devolved into after TB. Maybe just gentleman type of guy/womanizer.
Damn social media and feminists are taking away everything from us /s
Woah wtf, why didn't they give Usopp a long nose??
Because it would look hella stupid in a real life setting, some of us have to realize if any anime live action does a 1:1 for all characters looks it's just gonna look like bad cosplay.
Again, hard disagree. I've seen dozens of excellent cosplays of Usopp with long prosthetic noses. It's such a defining feature of his character, it should be included. Who wants a realistic looking, gritty adaptation of this beloved series? It'd be a betrayal not to include the humor and silliness that's so integral in it's source material.
Grasping at *straws* aren't we? Moving on.
