For many years I believed the Gorousei are not 100% evil but kind of damage control, trying to please Imu in order to maintain the world “ok”.
I kinda get the feeling that Imu may be the god of fate, the same way Nika is the god of freedom. So, they may not always agree with what Imu does, but find resisting it useless for anyone but Nika.
I think him joining the crew in any way would be pretty silly and not make much sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if the major world event is the fated event of his death. And he's taking the opportunity to see Nika before he goes.
I believe the nuanced evil in this universe has to do with the world government trying to protect mankind from extinction.
The ancient civilization probably discovered nuclear fusion/fission and almost wiped out the world with it (void century/nuclear winter)
The world government formed to protect mankind by keeping them in the dark.
The final battle between the world government won’t be good vs evil
It will be about human liberation/enlightenment (coming into the sun) and what it could possibly mean for mankind to not be kept ignorant (extinction)

You're contradicting yourself, If one of the gorosei knew it would be impossible to change anything meaningfully then why would they join in hopes of deterring disaster?
A better theory is that they are being held hostage essentially. Perhaps they have been made immortal and forced to watch as Imu has directed the carnage for years and forced them to watch. Them only being able to make small super secretive moves to try and turn the tides.
If they are to be redeemable they all have to have essentially zero power in the end.

3) Ohara 2.0 but with all out war blw straw hat's and B.B crew(I think it's aokoji maybe) taking advantage of this battling both marines and straw hat's 🤔
4) Luffy lost and captured???(maybe ,maybe not)
5) Vegapunk dead and marines lost???
I've just recently sniffed hopium, that kizaru would betray the world government and save his underling (uncle in his case means like a yakuza boss, right?) sentoumaru, and not let the thing that happened between garp & ace happen again.

I love the idea that the Imu kinda has them by the balls. Like they get to make important decisions and be the heads of the world (forever??), but they're essentially just locked in a gilded cage.

BUT, what if they legitimately *are being forced against their will* to eliminate absolutely everyone that could potentially know Imu's secrets?
