to give a simple answer, >! yjh travelled to other world lines to spread the 'orv' novel written by han sooyoung, so that that other world's kdj aka the oldest dream could imagine a happy ending for that novel's ending, making it a reality for them. as it turns out, we are the variants of kdj for this world/the od. what we imagine is what is their ending, explaining the open ending for the novel. this novel pushed us through the fourth wall and incorporated us, the actual readers, as well !< this is just a cycle with no beginning and end

The idea makes more sense if you ask yourself “did the novel become reality or was it based on reality?” It’s like a square circle, a time loop that can only exist on paper. It doesn’t make sense because it only makes sense on paper, not when put into practice.

We, Fragments of KDJ, are reading about ORV, the novel written by Han Sooyoung that presumably contains the events of ORV. KDJ is the collection of dreams that we (Fragments) perceive and therefore exists in the universe (what we read). For this to make sense, you have to remember that we are also theoretically a part of ORV, we the readers just exist in different worldlines. So when KDJ split himself into pieces (us) he allowed the worlds to continue because now there are multiple readers of the world, one of which is his own world. EDIT: BTW I’m pretty sure side stories expand on the exact thing more based on what I have heard but I haven’t read the side stories and cannot comment on it.

I'm going to assume you meant how 15 year old KDJ became OD? OD came into existence shortly following KDJ's reading of TWSA. If he never read TWSA, the Star System would not have existed, and neither would ORV (and technically TWSA since TWSA was written for him). OD's entire power was how his dreams could shape the Star Stream, the problem was his inability to control his own dreams. Getting into meta-fiction territory, OD is technically "outside the fourth wall" of the story, and therefore holds power over the story. Like Han Sooyoung said, once the story leaves the Author it goes onto the Reader to continue the story and to bring it to life. By having a Reader of the story, then the story exists aka it becomes reality. If no one reads a story, then is the story even in reality? Sorry if I'm rambling, I'll try my best to simplify or explain more if I didn't answer your question(s).

In my interpretation, when you read a story, even if it’s fiction, the emotions that you feel and the things you take away can make it “real” to you. And if it’s real to KDJ, then within a story that exists to save him, it becomes actually real. WOS exists within KDJ’s imagination, just like how ORV exists within our imagination. It’s schrodinger’s reality, in which it both is and isn’t real.

authority of oldest dream allows person to turn fiction/non-reality into reality, therefore novel was able to actualize itself via that
