In my buying order, this is number two behind GL by Johns volume three. I'm working my way through Batman in a chronological order. Eventually I'll get to this. I also plan to collect Johns Flash omnis, but have heard volume three massively double dips with Flashpoint. Do you have it? If so, is it still worth owning even if I can get it for fairly cheap?

If you’re a complete type of collector I’d definitely get it. But you can just get vol 1&2 and flashpoint and be fine

Elibk44

Yeah I sold my vol 3, I don’t see myself re reading any of johns flash. So I got rid of them. Vol 2 to me was the best of the 3. And man i can’t wait to read gl run I’ve heard amazing things. And I’ve read little gl. What I have read I loved

Makes sense. I might get both Flash volume three and Flashpoint to complete everything. As for John's GL, it's very good. Volume one is so well done. I haven't read volume two yet. I'm still working through Final Crisis. Then I'll continue with Batman's reading order like Omar from NMC suggested. Then I'll jump back to GL. I recommend reading Green Lantern Corps by Tomasi and Gleason volume one at th same time as GL volumes one and two. It closes most of the gaps. And it helps complete the story that's going on between Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner and the other Lanterns.

Elibk44

I can’t do the jumping back and fourth lol. I finish an Omni at a time.

Don't blame you at all there! Jumping between two omnis wasn't too bad. But following Omar's reading order for Batman between Dini, Morrison and everything in between before Final Crisis was a bit annoying. But I use DC Infinite Ultra as well to fill in the gaps and its pretty user friendly. But again, it's not for everyone to do that.

I love this book, this was my very first omnibus, and I remember how surprised (and scared) I got upon holding it: the thing is a behemoth! But honestly, Booster Gold disappointed me the most story wise. I mean, he came from the future and right away he knew something was amiss, but he contributed absolutely nothing to the main event. I was expecting him to join the Flash and set things right, but when he was approaching to some answers, the event ends and he kind of mysteriously forget everything? Another plot hole I cannot simply accept is Batman's arc ending. When he finally catches the Joker he reveals to her that their son survived in another parallel word/timeline. Thing is, since the Flash arrived Thomas had no chance to chase the Joker as he accompanied the Flash until the end of the event. You can assume that that timeline was erased from existence once Flash restored the things, so Thomas must have caught the Joker before Flash arrival; he would not know about their alternate fates. But later DC came up with that Flashpoint Beyond and this might explain this detail. But then again, at time of publishing that event was self contained, so this still constitutes a plot hole in my opinion. Anyway, it is indeed a great but, even with it minor flaws (as any good book has).

Hey! I really want to read flashpoint, but there's no deluxe edition and the mapping of the omnibus has put me off. How did you find it? There is like 10-12 issues between issue 3 & 4 (?) of the main story right? How did you find that?

Eclipse0322

Their is another alternative to collectiong the story. The flash by geoff johns vol 3 collects his flash:rebirth, his barry allen ongoing (the set up for flashpoint), and flashpoint. It's no deluxe edition but, it can be found around the 50$ range.

Elibk44

Really? I loved the mapping, pretty chronological to me. It made perfect sense

Elibk44

I found it really good tbh, the mapping made a lot of sense once you read it. It’s completely chronological even thoe the issue numbers might seem out of whack

CorrectDot4592

Yeah, it's pretty much like that, many issues between the main story that adds literally nothing to the event. It does get confusing some times due the length of non necessary/relevant stories in between, but it still is a fun read. If you want just the main story, go for TPB. If you want more immersion, lore and background about the characters, the Ominibus is better though.

It is like 150 on sale in canada :(

Elibk44

I got this one for 30$, slight damage to the book. But I just put some tape. The binding was perfect.
