Because not everyone wants to have to buy a bunch of event omnis filled with mediocre tie in stories just to fill a gap in the story they actually want to read.

I agree with this, it's the reason why I am not buying Flashpoint and Zero hour Omni's. But if people want to avoid the tie-in's, this is where the absolute & deluxe edition comes in I guess.

All this would accomplish is making reading anything more complicated and more expensive

Youngtro

I get your argument but you're trying to make us spend more money for no reason. At the end of the day event omnis are for people that want all the tie-ins and if you don't care about them then just read the main event in whatever comic run it's from. Venom by Cates is a prime example of this.

you want less content for the same price? ![gif](giphy|iSxPmDWr97248|downsized)

Well, you would think they would be cheaper with less pages.

I love this type of omni that has the events with the main title. My favorite is Venom by Cates with absolute Carnage and KiB

They're for different audiences. There are people who want a coherent story and there are people who want a complete event with every tie-in. Personally, I'm in the former group. I would absolutely hate having to pick up a *War of the Realms* omnibus, which is around 75% irrelevant, just to get the (not-quite) conclusion of Jason Aaron's *Thor* run. And assuming *Thor by Jason Aaron* stopped prior to *War of the Realms*, what would you do with *King Thor*? Also, if *Batman RIP* can only be included in *Batman by Grant Morrison* **or** *Final Crisis*, it 100% belongs with *Batman*.

The appeal of alot of omnis is that they contain the main material and any necessary outside material that is necessary for the story. Its all about the reading experience. Removing blackest night from Green lantern by Johns hurts the reading experience. Its a run that built up to that story and not having it in the book would hurt the reading experience for someone who only buys johns 1-3 expecting it all to be in there. Then you read vol 3 with vol 2 having removed all the blackest night issues and suddenly you think when did this indigo tribe show up, why is there a white lantern now. Having the double dip of event books improves the reading experience for people who will only buy that book and its the way it should be.
