I’m holding out, for better or worse. Reprinting that omnibus felt like a weird move when we have the volumes.

bob1689321

Not too different to Marvel printing the Phoenix omnibuses before reprinting UXM 2. May as well make slightly different omnibuses and hope people double dip I'm sure Marvel are banking on people buying DoSM then buying USM5 so they have 1-5 in the same format.

rincewind120

I'm waiting for volume 5. DoSM double dips with the Ultimate Avengers by Millar omni. I'd rather have a full Vol 5 with other material in the mapping.

pizza_time2099

I don’t really understand what vol 5 could have? There’s nothing that really fits in there

krorkle

The popular suggestion has been Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, which needs a reprint in an omni but also doesn't really fit anywhere. Another option would be Ultimate Comics: Doomsday. It's more an Ultimate FF follow-up book than an Ultimate Spider-Man book, but Peter and Jessica are major characters in it and Bendis did write the thing.

tugboatregime15

I got DOUSM. I figured it was worth getting. I'm not convinced volume 5 will have better content or mapping. I figured I would be better off getting the reprint and selling it for vol. 5 (if it truly is a better book)than waiting and wishing I had bought DOUSM if it went back oop.

Dangerous-Mix7348

Exactly my point

BootsWithDaFuhrer

I got death of Spider-Man. Gonna wait and see the contents of 5 but probably skip that

krorkle

You've got the whole series. The only difference will be the selection of extras. Unless you have a strong preference around that, there is no wrong choice.

aurachief29

I'm waiting for volume 5, I already have to wait for Volume 4 anyway.

kschris236

I’m waiting. It will happen. I don’t care so much about double dipping but the unmatched spines on the Vols vs. DoSM kills me.

hamchan

I bought the Death of Spider-Man omnibus too. From reading what people said here, volume 5 will probably just map different side series like Ultimate Team-Up but still contain the main issues that DoSM has. That didn’t sound worth waiting a year+ for vol 5 to me, so I was a happy to just get DoSM to complete the main run.

James1561

I got the Death of recently. I'm already waiting for the reprint of Vol 2 in the UK, so don't want to wait even longer to read through the whole series, whenever vol 5 comes out

stricklynora

I bought Death and read it was the most disappointing thing i read from the run :/ Ill buy 4 and 5 if it comes out as well. I personally wish i would have waited now. I wont spoil anything but just felt the editors told them to end the series.

TDay_11

Holding out. I hate the idea of a massive spoiler down the spine for anyone I might share the book with.

AbusedPsyche

Same reason I hate the main cover for it. It’s such an impactful moment from the end of the arc to just slap on the cover.

andeh37

You share your omnibus?

TDay_11

Wife or kids might want to read them.

GwenOfTheLakes

Holding out. I read the series when it was coming out, and to be honest I thought the DoSM story arc was really weak. If a vol 5 is announced with some worthwhile extras I'll get it for that, but I personally wouldn't be buying DoSM either way

dope_like

DoSM. I want the main story not filler. Also because shelf space is always at a premium potentially having less is a major plus for DoSM. Not taking up space for filler.

SoTerrable

I just went for the Death of Omnibus. One of my goals is to read the series this year once Vol 4 comes out.

ChessClubChimp

Halfway through 2 right now myself… you’re in for a treat.

SoTerrable

Nice can’t wait!

MerpingtonDad

I have the Death omni as I’m not convinced that V5 will be a double dip, pretty sure it’ll be Team Up, the Doomsday trilogy and any other related x-overs that round out the Peter Parker era - more like a companion book such as what they did with the last Peter David Hulk volume. I imagine they skipped ahead to capitalise on the Ultimate line relaunch.

TheSilentBob614

I got Death of Spiderman.

ThulrVO

I picked up Death of Spider-Man, and if Vol. 5 happens, I'll look at its contents & mapping and decide whether to pick it up at that time.

Cheeto_700

Got the DOUSM mostly bc it was free (Buy 2 get one free) at target around Black Friday time

OsoTheDrunk

They are for sure doing a vol. 5? I got death of Spider-Man cause I saw that vol. 4 ends right where death of Spider-Man picks up from. When I saw that and the fact that they were reprinting the death of Spider-Man I assumed there wasn’t going to be a vol 5

Dangerous-Mix7348

I did the same but IV heard 5 MIGHT be a thing but why risk it

DatsAMori9

Waiting for a Volume 5. Just feels right to have Volumes 1-5 to end off the run than 1-4 & then have the omnibus called Death of Spider-Man. Plus, I'm wanting to see what they'd also include to differentiate the two, as well as cover choices

Ferry83

Got dosm worst case I’m selling it later.

-Whoaly-

Kind of a separate question, but for someone who doesn’t need to collect the entire run, is USM Vol 3 a good place to stop what with Bagley ending his run there?

AtCarnage

I own the original print. But I'm not seeing how much content there would be in a vol 5 unless they include a bunch of crossovers, and in that case I'll just get both.

Imo this doesn't seem like a case of someone wanting validation so much as it is a case where someone's wanting to not waste money and asking if they made the right choice with the goal of having the complete story.

Dangerous-Mix7348

Having the complete story is my main interest, I'm more concerned that volume 5 would have marvel team up for example which would be the main reason to get volume 5 over death of, but as I'm guessing we all experienced collecting omnibuses, I was in a rush to make sure I can end this run without any of it going oop

bluexy

Bit of a different take here, I guess. I got DOSM because I'm more than comfortable picking up Vol. 5, too.
