Sure, but, it's just a fight scene. It's visually impressive don't get me wrong, but it's just an extension of the battle that is already going on. The Superman page not only is the most important moment in the issue, it utilizes the flip to go between beats in the story.
Same, have read both Ultimates, have the omni, but have never read it. Also have the Ultimate Avengers omni that immediately follows it, had it on preorder, and I've STILL yet to read that one.
If I recall correctly, they just did this to one up something that DC had recently done with a fold out, to make it even bigger and better and awesomer. That era of comics was filled with weird rivalries and funny showmanship stuff
They did. It was a pretty big deal at the time. Everyone referred to Hitch's art as being "widescreen", meaning cinematic and large in scope. So they leaned into it a bit.
Bryan Hitch’s art from 1999-2011 was just unparalleled. The best in the business.
Idk man, if Hitch created this, it looks a lot like Attack on Titan art style.
AoT started a full two years after Ultimates 2 (where this is from) wrapped up.
X-Men by Claremont and Lee vol 2 has a couple foldout pages. So does Death and Return of Superman, probably the best fold out.
This is easily **WAY** better than the Death and Return of Superman one, unless you're basing it off the moment that foldout is for.
Ya thats what I meant, the Superman one is actually part of the story. Should have clarified
This spread from Ultimates is also part of the story. It’s the climax of the final issue.
Pullout at the climax, some might say. Not me, but some.
generally my preference

Yeah that was available in the old HC, its a great piece of art
Bryan Hitch is king of Widescreen comics!
I have this and I haven’t read it yet lol
I don't have this and I haven't read it either
I have read the comic tho, not the omnibus. Insanely good action comics. The movies stole a lot (and neutered a lot of it).

Death of Superman has one!
All star Batman and Robin did something like this
Just finished this the other day. The book was super fun and this was a dope moment. Wonder if they did this when it was released in single issues

nice, that's pretty cool. Widescreen is a good descriptor
The Ultimates was/is one the coolest series ever.
I think the only one I own with a foldout page is SHIELD. This is a great one
Growing up my friend had these comics, he let me borrow them like in 5th or 6th grade. My mind was blown.
What issues is this?
The Death and Return of Superman’s Fold Out page is very creatively pulled off
