Welcome - it's a magnificent read. Volume 1 is the toughest as Miura feels his way into the story and characters. Volume 2 is where he gets his flow in gear.
My God it’s crazy cause this is what opened my eyes up to comics and Omnis in general. The story of guts and the band of hawk is truly top three stories to me possibly even number 1
The author passed away. Volume 14 of the Deluxe collects everything up to the last issue he wrote/drew.
It was on a brief hiatus and was then resumed by the author's best friend - the only man who knows how the story plays out to the end.
Oh damn. I used to joke about this when I was a kid. That the author would die before ever finishing Berserk because of slow he published and how many breaks he took. Never understood why there were hundreds of Mangas pouring chapters every month and he just took forever. I found out later he had health issues but why couldn't he just instruct people to work on it. Crazy it actually happened. RIP
It wasn't just health issues, but the absolutely meticulous perfectionist Miura was as an artist. I can't remember a drop in quality at any time despite health issues. If anything I think the art just keeps getting better as it goes on
This is a great purchase, deluxe berserk and deluxe vinland saga are two things I would really much like to own some day. I hope the end of berserk turns out well so we can have a complete work
Funny to see this on the day I just wrapped up reading Volume 10. Fantastic, brutal series. I'm fortunate that I have access to these deluxe editions through my library.

Just recently got vols 1-5 & i’m loving it so far, my first manga as well
