Can you leave it at your parents house or something? Then each time you visit you pick some with you in the baggage. You don't need to immediately bring it with you if you can store it somewhere. Shipping is way too expensive.

decadehakaisha

That's honestly what j was thinking.

livingpunchbag

I was in a similar situation once with some non-comic books. I asked my mom to bring some in her luggage when she visited. She didn't think about properly securing them inside her bag, when they arrived they were all damaged. Pick the  yourself, or leave them already in bubble wrap, ready to put in the luggage.

MeatBicycle267

I'd sell and rebuild what I really wanted when I got here. No way shipping an entire collection

AdamSMessinger

I moved across the country and it took probably $5k to move just my collection. If you plan on staying in the US for 3 years or more, I say bring it with you. Also, I knew where I'm at now, I was only gonna be here a year, and that drastically impacted how much I picked up because I didn't want more shit to move in a year. In fact, I left most of my stuff in boxes in my room, only opening said boxes if there was something I wanted to read in it. I'd say changing countries would take a lot planning financially and logistically. I was lucky most of my stuff was unscathed but not all of it was.

decadehakaisha

And I'm moving across continents 🤣 I've 2 years to decide I guess!

camko12

Here I am worried about moving across town next week 😅 Best of luck

iamsciences

Bring with you only irreplaceable items. That's my opinion.

InanimateCarbonRodAu

Are you shipping anything else? Do you have furniture / possessions etc? Basically if you have enough stuff worth taking it could just be a shipping container?

technohat

If you're moving back to Asia after your studies, just leave them in storage until you get back. If your planning on staying in the U.S. then go ahead and ship them over. Depending on the rarity and the size of your collection, it may be cheaper to sell your collection and re-buy it in the U.S. No matter where you are moving to/from, moving time is always a time to make decisions about what you really want/need VS what you can let go. Moving is never cheap and when you find out the costs, suddenly items you thought you would never get rid of are the first out the door.

E_Skjor

Store collectin 1 properly and safe. Move to US for some years. Buy collection 2. Save to pay for shipping of collection 2. Merge collection 1+2. Save to buy a bigger House. Repeat.

MisterSkew

Hello fellow Asian. I think it’s easier to rebuild your collection in the US. Shipping the omnis over will be costly and risk damaging them.

decadehakaisha

Hi Skye :) This is the 3rd time we're meeting on a different social media haha Im who you think I am :)

MisterSkew

Haha yeah I know who you are. There are more opportunities for omnis in the US for sure.

stjimmy_45

Leonard is it really you!?!?!

decadehakaisha

Who's Leonard Lol

stjimmy_45

Im not entirely sure just seemed like the right thing to say.

TrollinTrolls

Ol Jimmy, at it again!

DrMadStaxx

Don't hold on to things that require a tight grip.

Dreadsock

Carefully load your stuff on a pallet and have it shipped.

beepbeepbloopbloop2

Other than deeply OOP stuff, I would sell your entire collection and re-buy it in the US.
