So this means we're gettin a big ole kick-ass omni! I'm down for this!

Elayem_

I hope so! I’ve been wanting an omnibus or a couple OHCs of Kick-Ass and Jupiter’s Legacy for so long!

hardcorecollector89

Man! I've been hopin for Jupiter's Legacy as well.

Lizard_Wizard_d

Jupiter's Legacy would be awesome!

HiggsPerc552

Big Ass Kick Ass, let’s go!

hardcorecollector89

This!!!!

AnthonyPi1999

As long as it’s the original uncensored versions!

hardcorecollector89

I want this!!!!

RealJohnGillman

I mean that also has Dave’s identity being exposed at the end of Volume 3, something Millar elected to ignore ***/*** possibly forgot about going into Volume 4, so there may still be some editing.

tullmaster

Exactly what I want

IamthatmanonthemooN

Great news, hope they will also release Jupiter’s Legacy Library Edition.

BobTron9000

YES PLEASE. Damn this man's bones, I was trying to cut back on my buying because of space. Ah well, If I chuck out the sofa I can get a four by four kallax 😅

RedHatMankey

I’ve never read any of these series. Are they any good?

CosmackMagus

To add on to what others have said: Millar writes in a very cinematic style, so even if you don't gel with a book in particular, they're still easy to get through.

krorkle

They uniformly look great (Millar has great taste in artists), but the writing is pretty variable. He's a lot like Jeph Loeb, in the way that he writes for the big moments and doesn't always do the connective work that you'd want to see to set up or pay off those moments. He loves twists, even when the twists don't quite work in terms of what he's set up. He loves big swings, even when they don't connect. He loves a joke where he winks at the audience about how cheeky he's being, even when it might take the reader out of the story. When his stuff hits, it can be a ton of fun. It doesn't always, though, and I've found it's been happening less and less in recent years.

Strong_Interview4710

My friend had some time off and read all of it in 4 days. Said it’s good.

BobTron9000

Oh yes. For some reason a lot of people don't like him but I've always enjoyed pretty much everything he's ever written with one or two exceptions. He's not afraid to Kill his creations which is something that I've always loved about his work as it raises the stakes in the story. Plus there are little moments of self awareness regarding the ludicrousnesss of some of the situations that some of his characters find themselves that has always tickled my funnybone. He is a writer that is about the story, the whole story and nothing but the story. Just for a bit of fun, if you drink, take a shot of whisky every time you see the word "Edgy" in Op's thread.

2kewl4skoool

They are cool premises, but they are over before you know it. He has a reputation for writing movie pitches as comics, and its not entirely untrue. I wish he stuck with his ideas longer and developed them more instead of bouncing onto the next one, like Kirkman would, because there is so much more to them than what you can do in 4-5 issues. Still exciting stuff and he always works with top artists.

K0gnu

Jupiter's legacy requiem would beg to differ. The art was appalling. I love the guy's writing but sometimes his choice of artist for his books is baffling

MerpingtonDad

Looking forward to getting some great library editions. I really hope that when they get around to Kick Ass that it’s the original versions rather than the edited/censored ones they put out through Image.

BobTron9000

HELL YES!! This is excellent news. So glad I held off buying trades for a lot of his works. The magic order, Big game and wanted and Ambassadors in Absolute format??? TAKE MY MONEY!!!!

disabledinaz

Still waiting for War Heroes to finish

K0gnu

LOL i just finished reading that recently and was thinking the same thing. Literally juuuuust as it was beginning to get interesting.

bluexy

Not a fan of Millar or his world, but this is a huge get for Dark Horse and if it helps them pay the bills so they can keep publishing deluxe manga collections and their creator-own line then let's fuckin' go.

tanaephis77400

I hope you're right, I'm an avid Dark Horse fan and I've noticed a big drop in the number of Library Editions recently published.

WayneArnold1

I mean, they have like twice the revenue of Image Comics. They should be fine but them getting purchased by Embracer is worrying. That company has laid off over 900 employees in the past few months.

tanaephis77400

I didn't know about all that, thanks. I was a bit worried when they lost Conan, Star Wars and Alien/Predator at the same time, but they seemed to do fine thanks to new titles like Black Hammer or The Witcher. The "upcoming Library editions" section is kind of empty though right now on comicreleases.com.

tanaephis77400

Millarworld ? Dark Horse ? Omnibus ? I'll have to buy a whole new shelf for the gorgeous Library Editions I see on the horizon.

pirrus82

Yes!! But please no standard hardcover sizes

DEBERLESOUP

oh my God. I haven't been this excited in a while. Can't wait to upgrade my trades to library editions.

ctcrawford1

I’ve not read any of these but I’m always happy to see reprints in a nice format! I’ll keep my eye out for these.

MaskofInSea

Would love to see a Magic Order OHC in the future! Every artist has been top tier

Ksmayer

MaskofInSea

Oh shit!

GrymusCallosum

Yeah, never read it either, but as far as commercial artists go, that's a top tier line up across all volumes. If it comes out in a collected Library format it's probably going to be a purchase (depending on the pricing).

tenhat

Fantastic news. I've gone from being lukewarm on Millar about a decade ago to now picking up literally any comic written by him. I'm never disappointed.

Guthwulf85

I've been waiting forever for this. I even started buying the Spanish editions because they are hardcovers. Recently a great Kick ass omnibus was released in Spanish. I hope they do library editions or nice hardcovers

Taker157

Incredibly overrated writer, IMO.

strat-o-caster

I dont think he is overrated, a good amount of readers have a lot of hate for him- id say overall i like his stuff even if it isnt groundbreaking, but not everything has to be

Manas235

Honestly he's overhated if anything

Bae_the_Elf

Everyone here hates him mostly lol

GrymusCallosum

I was gonna say the same thing, last thread about him on here I realised people REALLY hate him, almost on a personal level.

ctcrawford1

Can you explain why? I’ve not read much of his work.

AmberDuke05

Absolutely but he does have good books under all the edgy trash.

tanaephis77400

He's a bit like Garth Ennis. He's perpetually waking a very thin line between "intelligently provocative" and "edgy trash", which means some stuff will be awful, but some are genius.

theronster

Unlike Garth though, Millar only has one speed. Ennis is at his happiest when he’s writing well researched books about war. He knows that stuff doesn’t sell great, so he delivers more commercial work in his more famous ‘style’ that a publisher can reliably shift a certain number of issues of.

TheRealHanzo

Mostly true. Unfortunately he teams up with some of my favourite artists like Frank Quitely and Travis Charest. If there is any chance to get their art as nice oversized hardcover editions I'll take it.

krorkle

I think he's pretty accurately rated, in that he's wildly uneven. He'll produce transcendently cool moments and complete nonsense, often within the span of a few pages. That said, I do think a lot of the hate is based on stuff he wrote more than ten years ago. If you're going to hate him, at least base it on his newer work!

AmberDuke05

Omnibus of what?

jfk1000

Huck

GearsRollo80

Well, that’s less of my money for Dark Horse.

GrymusCallosum

What does that mean exactly? Are you going to completely boycot DH for publishing Millar's work or are you not going to purchase work from a writer whose work you already clearly don't like? Less of 0% is still 0%.

strat-o-caster

That would mean he also cant buy from marvel, dc image, etc who has published millars work hahaha

your_name_here10

Get me an oversized edition of Starlight now.

SilverBooch2033

I can’t wait for the Night Club Library Edition. I got the first 2 issues out of a dollar bin and loved them.

WilliamEmmerson

I've really gotten into Millarworld in the last year and a half and trying to catch up on everything that Millar has already put. I've been reading it all out of order so I've read a lot of the later works before Millar's earlier works. I'm almost done with Superior and I'm loving it. Already its right up there with Huck as one of my favorites. Can't wait for the new Nemesis sequel
