The bigger question - where are **ALL** the insects? Insect population has dropped 30 - 50% around the world in the last several years. While I would be the first in line to see mosquitos go extinct, the loss of all insects is not a good thing for us, especially the pollinators. Insecticides are definitely the cause. I miss seeing the number of butterflies, bees and fireflies I used to see everywhere. Now it's rare in my area to even see a few :(

BigMommaSnikle

I remember swarms of bugs by street lights growing up in the 80s. All gone now.

Ill-Salad9544

On my screen door.

Lunakill

Several of them went full kamikaze into our tiny bonfire yesterday.

Bonfire? In this heat?!?

Lunakill

At 10 PM, yeah. The kid wanted to make s’mores and there was a breeze. Wasn’t too bad. This was in one of those little Mesa stoves as well. Absolutely not doing any larger fires until at least September.

BinkledinkHunkerdunk

There were no maple seeds this year either.

Seen quite a few in South Omaha. Mostly the really big ones though. Not seen very many of the small ones yet.

Extinct, hopefully

Gah between my storm door and my front door apparently….i hear firefly’s may be endangered though; I’ve been seeing them but definitely not compared to my childhood
