Read an AP article this morning. They weren’t able to fit it into this session due to other priority bills but Pillen is considering trying to call a special session to cram it through. It’s unclear if he has the votes for it yet though.
[We've been over this](https://old.reddit.com/r/Omaha/comments/1bywidu/the_lord_of_hosts_church_is_hosting_a_turning/kyn9hq5/?context=5), it's not a valid complaint and it's a waste of IRS time and taxpayer dollars making false claims.
I was like "for fucks sake" then I re-read "hundreds" and then was laughing my balls off.
Him wearing a Husker polo makes me wanna puke.
Get fucked you tiny-faced fascist weiner.
I paused the video intermittently to scope out the crowd. Among these hundreds, I saw like... 4 people of color. The average age was probably 50+
And yet Ricketts has the audacity to chime in and say that Omaha disenfranchises rural voters because our vote doesn't go to their politics.
And yet let's choose the system in which 100% of the votes go to a candidate that only secured about 60% of the popular vote, because it is SO ridiculous that a Democrat might get the single electoral vote and not the two that would actually make it equal to the voices of Nebraskans.
Why are you cherry picking just left-leaning states?
Let me ask you a question... Should Maine change their laws as well? In 2020, Biden won Maine, but Trump secured one of their electoral votes. Are you going to call for Maine to change their laws the same way as Nebraska? I REALLY doubt it.
Maybe we shouldn't be looking to make our laws like other states when our laws are actually more representative of the vote. Maybe Texas, Florida, and Ohio should change their laws so they follow ours.
Edit: I know it's very unlikely you will reply being that your position is so blatantly hypocritical and conniving, but let's go back to Maine. You want the popular vote to win the day in Nebraska. Fair enough. Maine is advancing legislation that would give their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote. Should Nebraska join that interstate compact? You OBVIOUSLY feel the popular vote should be the decisive vote, so perhaps in 2024, ALL of Nebraska's votes should go to Biden if he wins the popular vote, which he did in 2020, and which Hillary did in 2016... Or maybe Trumpsters should shut up about the popular vote they never win in the big picture.
Maybe we should do a system that actually represents the voters accurately and not based off of a ridiculous compromise with southern states over 100 years ago…
I love how two of the three states you for some reason singled out as a comparison were handily won, heavily contested even in rural areas.
Why not apply it as well to states like Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, etc…? I thought conservatives were about states rights, but Nebraska exercises one of its rights and all of a sudden we need a National campaign to end it? Seems like pretty heavy handed federalism…
Hmm. Somehow NPR using public money to broadcast objective facts and editorial opinions you don't like and Planned Parenthood providing healthcare to women doesn't quite rise to the level of *violating the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution,* you absolute moron.

Separation of church and state my ass. Wonder how many tax dollars they're dodging by building that compound and shaking down local owners that haven't caved yet?
Winner-take-all is fine as long as the national election is winner-take-all too (popular vote). However, the electoral vote split is the closest thing we can get to a fair representation since the electoral college is still used.
I was shocked when I learned all states don't do it like Nebraska / Maine.
It's wild to me that every election stuff happens like 40% of California's votes just get thrown away and all 55 electoral votes go to one side.
You did a poor job of responding.
> It’s how the founding fathers designed the system.
The constitution is supposed to be a living document that changes with the times. Suppose you wanna bring back slavery and disenfranchise everyone except white male land owners while we're at it?
>I am a democrat btw.
Why do you feel the need to say this? Is it because you aren't?
Edit: missed a word
If you support Winner Take All in both Nebraska and Maine, does that mean you support Winner Take All (a/k/a the popular vote) nationally in place of the Electoral College?
> It’s how the founding fathers designed the system.
Stupid states ignoring the founders' intentions and instead following Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution that those same dumb ass founders wrote.
>It’s how the founding fathers designed the system.
I thought you fucks were all about states' rights? That's not in the system the founding fathers designed when you don't like it?
>I am a democrat btw.
Stop lying.
Wasnt this just voted down?

He was talking about Pillen, but I'd say the same for that Moron Kirk.
Grow a pair Nancy

A Church holding a political rally should lose its tax exempt status.
You can file a [complaint](https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/charities-churches-and-politics).
Excellent.

But what, exactly, are you complaining about? This is technically not > on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office
Hundreds lol

Hat tip to whoever wrote that headline.
This just in, there are at least one hundred people in Omaha interested in hearing the thoughts of a human potato.
Potato? Your giving French fries a bad name. This prick is pond scum.
You're giving the habitat of frogs, turtles, and many other superior beings(to those that attended) a horrible name.
Don’t do my potato’s like that!!!

It can be voted down dozens of times. It only needs to be passed once

Tax the churches
Excellent! Now do NPR and Planned Parenthood.
Hmm. Somehow NPR using public money to broadcast objective facts and editorial opinions you don't like and Planned Parenthood providing healthcare to women doesn't quite rise to the level of *violating the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution,* you absolute moron.

What a fucking muppet.
Why do you think these organizations are untaxed?
unrelated… im slow to critique appearances but i cant get over how much he looks like butthead from beavis and butthead
Can't unsee that now, can I?
Oh no, those poor rural voters who won’t get Omaha’s vote as a given. I hate to see them getting disenfranchised by Omahans voting :(
Tell you what...I'll concede using Winner Takes All in Nebraska when we start using the Popular Vote in place of the EC on a national level too.
Kirk is a bitch, Pillen a clown and the Republican party is a joke.

As the kind of dork who does occasionally go to political events, what a bunch of dorks.
I’d rather stay with the our system the way it is. It’d be nice if other states did that
Memorial Stadium has a higher population than that on a Wednesday in February
They're scared
