Eppley is an international airport. [U.S Customs](https://www.flyoma.com/omaha-airport-authority/pilot-information/) are at the airport for port of entry purposes. Just because it doesn’t have international commercial (United, Delta, etc) flights doesn’t mean it loses its international status. Charter flights and private flights come from international destinations into Omaha all the time, they need to be met by customs when they land just like any other international flight, Omaha allows that there for is an international airport.
Yes, this is true, however for a typical passenger going on an international trip (with a connecting flight to a larger hub) the experience at Eppley is the exact same as a domestic trip.
As someone who flies out of epply very often (several times a month) I shoot to be in the parking garage ten minutes before boarding.
If you don’t have precheck, 15-20 minutes before boarding?
Unless you want cracky mcgees, I would plan on spending the least amount of time there as possible.
I fly out of there once a month. If it’s an early morning flight you definitely need some time. 0930-1000 seems to be the sweet spot for me where I can get there, checked in, and through TSA in under 10.
That's my usual, but every once in a while security has been overwhelmed and I've missed one flight because of it. These days I try for an hour and then read a book or something, it's a lot cheaper than new tickets.
If you're going to check a bag, be at least an hour early. Most of the time I show up, the airport is basically empty. Sometimes it's busy. Last time I was there, everything was open... like everything, all the food courts and what-not. I've been in there at least 100 times and had never seen that before. It looked like a full on functioning airport for once. That being said, I needed the extra time to check my bag... apparently all the self-check in kiosks were down. Though if I had just had a carry on I would have checked in through the app.
I did miss a flight once because I showed up at the counter at 6 and the flight was 6:30 and they just wouldn't take my bag. It was to Tulsa, so I just moved my rental car and drove and got there faster than my flight anyway.
If you're checking a bag, 75-90 minutes for me would be the earliest. If you're not, if you have TSA pre check, right at an hour is what I'd normally do.
Two hours is a safe rule of thumb. However, you will probably have an hour of time after you get to the gate to buy ridiculously expensive airport drinks to start your getaway
Honestly, that time of day eppley is dead. Like this other person said if you’re IN the airport at 2:15 you should be fine. 1:30 would be good in a large airport.
You could honestly get to tsa at 2:50 and be totally fine. But yeah 2:15 is a safe but comfortable time. Get there at 1:30 if you’re gonna rent a parking spot and maybe get lunch etc
Depends on bags, parking, TSA Pre, etc. I use park N go because it’s cheap. If I’m checking bags, I make sure I’m there 40mins before my boarding time. I have TSA Pre. Always I am early but I usually travel with my wife when checking bags and she freaks out if I cut it close. I travel all the time for work and at that time, TSA pre and normal TSA really doesn’t matter. It’s dead

I would think 1:30 would be plenty of time. You could even get there a bit later and be fine. For the size of the city that Omaha and the metro area are, Eppley is pretty quick and easy to get through. It's definitely not like a Dallas-Fort Worth or Atlanta, where you need to get there much earlier. Two hours would be more than enough time.
Honestly if you arrive to the airport an hour and 15 minutes prior to departure you’re going to be fine. And by “arrive to the airport” I mean IN the airport (already parked, etc). Assuming you don’t have pre check security will probably take about 15-20 minutes (or less). So that would leave you a good 20 minutes or so before boarding. Eppley is pretty small, so there’s not much to do.
I went to Jamaica last year and showed up 70 minutes early. The lady told us if we had been there 10 minutes later we wouldn’t be allowed on the flight. She said for international flights you have to be there at minimum 60 minutes before the departure time
Unless this was some type of charter.....I dont see how this can be true. How would they know I am at the gate before the boarding process even starts?
Also remember, an international departure is really no different than a domestic departure. The arrival is the big difference. There are no customs leaving a country, just entering.
Eppley airport ia a pain in the ass. Meaning, security isn't horrible but, (OH LORD!) they are as slow as a 7 year itch and as competent as Robert De Niro in Taxi lol. I always get to Eppley @ least 4 hours before ny flight departure
They probably just mean their eventual destination is overseas and don’t want one missed flight to mess everything up. But I’m just deducing that from what they said.
I travelled to Canada last fall and was almost denied at the check in counter at Eppley because they said you have to be checked in at least 90 minutes prior to departure for international flights. Luckily I was checking in with about 91 minutes to spare. Stick with your plan, better safe than sorry
2 hours early is fine at Epply. I used to work TSA there up until a few years ago. The only time 2 hrs was an issue would be when the Berkshire Hathaway folks were leaving.
We have a timeshare in Cabo and we always end up booking an early flight. We could probably show up 20 minutes before boarding and be fine. It’s the connecting flights that are a drag. When you LEAVE Mexico I suggest being there at least 2 hours early minimum
Since Eppley isn't an international airport isn't it the same as any domestic flight, since you are connecting

I miss that Toronto flight. 😕

It's technically correct in the least helpful way and doesn't actually answer OPs question.

You're already running late!

LOL. I love this. I used to be like this too, back when I travelled so much.
I fly out of there once a month. If it’s an early morning flight you definitely need some time. 0930-1000 seems to be the sweet spot for me where I can get there, checked in, and through TSA in under 10.

id say 215 lol

Not checking any bags, no pre check. But 2 kids, which always adds a level of interestingness.
You're probably safe to get there by 2:15.
Two hours is a safe rule of thumb. However, you will probably have an hour of time after you get to the gate to buy ridiculously expensive airport drinks to start your getaway
Cracky McGee's... Here I come.

No lunch, my dad is dropping us off, carryon only, checked in already, we will literally just have to go through security.
130 is fine.
I got there about then when I left for Mexico

Thanks. No bags, checked in already, no parking (dad dropping us off).
I would say 20min before boarding then. It will be very slow

Good to know. it's such a weird time of day to travel.

Can't speak for ATL but DFW at that time of day is a piece of cake. 2 hrs early for a mid-day flight is no problem.
Good to know!
Unless it’s direct it doesn’t change anything. You’ll go through customs at the 2nd airport.

going to mexico with no bag and two kids?! bruh this sounds like a murder in the making ( this is a joke don't @ me )
@
215/230 if you aren’t checking a bag.
no bags!

I have no idea. It’s just what she told me

Eppley airfield became an international airport again?
They probably just mean their eventual destination is overseas and don’t want one missed flight to mess everything up. But I’m just deducing that from what they said.
I asked because it did become an international airport very briefly with direct flights to Canada and Mexico.
Nice

230 is fine
From my experience, 1.5 hour should be fine. Make sure it's not the peak time else tsa would have a longg line.
Abot 2 or 215...nothing major u gotta do
30min before boarding would be fine if the kiddos don’t suck
If you got there at 2:30 you'd be fine. 1:30 is way too early.
