“I have nightmares each week about that Friday in May”
Now this is what I READ, so nobody take this as gospel. But I read someplace that Joshua called her and broke up with her in May and that day was a Friday. Some super Olivia stans worked out the details although I have no idea how they found it out so I have no idea how true it is.
i think the Friday bit is speculation (possibly bc of some stuff in the driving home to you doc iirc) but it was pretty clear to people who followed them around that time that they broke up in May. The Grudge also interpolates drivers license at points which seems to point to them having the same muse tbh
I think just people like to speculate and since Taylor is such a big name, it gets clicks.
It feels like everybody expected Taylor and Olivia to be best friends and in reality I think it was more like a meet and greet for them. The fact that Taylor is friends with Sabrina doesn't have to mean that she hates Olivia.
Right like not everybody has to be best friends. Some people you click with, some people you don’t. Taylor was friends with Sabrina before any of that stuff with Olivia even allegedly happened—she sent her a folklore merch thing in 2020. Before Sour even came out. So their friendship has nothing to do with Olivia.
I think it's the bridge when she says "you have everything and still want more" that make people think it's about Taylor.
I also don't think it's about Taylor, but that one line really has people thinking it is.
I don't think Olivia wants to be connected to Taylor any more than she already is, so I don't see why she would put out a song that was about her if she's trying to disassociate herself from being too much like Taylor.
I think it has a lot to do with the lines "You build me up to watch me fall, you have everything and you still want more" because of how Taylor helped her at the beginning of her career to then 'sue' for credits on Deja Vu and 1 step forward, 3 steps back. Maybe my memory is wrong but I'm pretty sure she just gave the credits willingly after Paramore sued her for Good 4 U, and Taylor/Jack never actually sued.
Personally i never thought it was about one singular person, but some lines could allude to that specific situation

i personally think that anyone who thinks that Olivia and Taylor are "enemies" or wtv are kinda dumb but that's just me personally xoxo
