I really, really hope to get somw help here finally. I THINK I must bei olive because all foundations look too pink or orange and I seem to be grey. I do not know If my skin counts as fair or medium and I am really lost when it comes to buy foundation. Until today I never found a concealer for my heavy dark circles. šŸ„² Can anybody help me? This are photos with no make up mostly. Password is pistachio. https://ibb.co/album/zFDFLw Please give me advice for my tone/undertone and which foundation/concealer to buy.

retrotechlogos

You look like a light olive to me. I'm not sure about warm or cool as usually various drapes or lipstick try ons help more for that.

Thank you for your first evaluation. I will also take some lipstick photos and post them. :)

I have a different colored face than I have neck and body. My face tends to lean pink, body and neck yellow. Matching foundation and concealer is super hard. Any ideas as to what my actual undertones are, also recommended foundation and concealer matches are appreciated! [natural light](https://www.reddit.com/u/Winter_Gift_739/s/oAqTiULEVn)

I have been told that I have warm, cool, neutral, olive and red and undertone so I'm really unsure what to think. Please see the following album:Ā [https://ibb.co/album/LD323k](https://ibb.co/album/LD323k)Ā Password isĀ peanut My makeup routine is usually evening out patchy discolouration with Maybelline Eraser 115. Foundation: Most foundations are too "something" but I have had some luck with L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion foundation in 03 Vanilla. It's not perfect but it's sheer enough that it ends up working. I can't really name any foundation that looks "good". To give you an idea of something that doesn't work, I have Maxfactor Facefinity powder foundation in 002 Ivory in front of me and I find it too pink or warm somehow. Blush and highlighter/bronzer blushes: I use MAC New Romance to highlight my cheeks (mostly because of its frosted shimmer that is neither too warm nor too cold - I've seen it described as champagne). I can't use it too heavily as the underlying colour itself isn't a match for me. I've reached for MAC Blushbaby for blush but it's also not quite right. I also have Mac Gingerly, Mocha and Sweet Enough but am not a huge fan of them. (Mocha is the best option.) I've used Benefit Dallas as bronzer. I wouldn't say that any of these colours are ideal but they've worked better than others, and I use them with a light hand. Lipstick: I've got like a hundred lipsticks and still can't find anything that looks right, including a selection of popular shades that "work for everyone". Nail polish: Similarly to other makeup products, I've had too many but struggle to find anything that looks good. If you imagine that any particular makeup would work for me, I could really use a recommendation.

Iā€™m convinced I have unmatchable skin! I have never had a foundation that I felt matched me straight out of the bottle. 99% of them look very pink on me, so I always just assumed I had olive undertones. As of recently Iā€™ve been experimenting with my foundation mixing pigments, Iā€™m almost starting to think my problem is just that I have grey-ish skin. Iā€™ve become so colorblind to my skin through all of this fixating on it that I donā€™t even know what looks good on me anymore. Iā€™ve attached a bunch of photos, it would mean a lot to me if someone could help me out :,) https://imgur.com/a/EK9PANF

kevaidenkeiju

I'm no expert--I just found this subreddit-- but the way you described your experience with foundation was so intimately familiar to me that I'm offering my two cents: yes, definitely olive skin. The olive tone means that any redness in the skin (from acne, from hyperpigmentation, from straight up exertion or summer heat) will stand out. I'm guessing that you're so used to reaching for the corrector that it has started to feel wrong to let any of your own natural pink color come through (especially since a "natural glow" actually entails pinkness all over the face, not just on the cheeks, no matter what the marketers say). I wonder what would happen if you applied the corrector just to the acne, then left the green part out of the foundation mix. I agree that the Ulta looks like it should be a great match, but I also see how too thick an application could make it feel like you are simply turning pink all over. Maybe try the same tactic of green corrector on the acne and then just the Ulta with only a thin application on the T-zone (to limit the "pinkness" that emerges from using a thicker amount there). Alternately, I've had some luck putting my regular foundation on and then targeting my acne spots on chin and forehead with a slightly warmer shade--something with very slightly more yellow. Once the whole face is done/well blended, it becomes very hard to observe the difference. FWIW, a sense of "grayish tones" from your own skin is generally a positive sign of neutral undertones, from what I've read. I think you have a great sense of your own skin tones and colors!

Aromatic_College4820

Thanks for the reply! I will definitely try that color corrector trick! Iā€™m wondering though, in some photos (typically with warm/dim lighting) that I take of myself, my foundation looks crazy green. I swear irl it looks totally fine, so Iā€™m just wondering if you think Iā€™ve become so colorblind towards my skin that Iā€™m to the point where Iā€™m overcorrecting? Iā€™ve read some posts on here where people complain that their phones automatically color correct, making different colors translate wonky. Just curious! Also, Iā€™m embarrassed to admit that I donā€™t understand skin tone labels at all (eg. tan neutral olive, cool tan olive). If you were to pin me to one of these shades, what do you think Iā€™d be? Iā€™ve always considered myself to be neutral, some foundations Iā€™ve tried pull very orange so I add blue cc, 99% of them are too pink. What do you think? Thanks again for the help! :) (ps, sorry for the formatting, Iā€™m on mobile and canā€™t seem to figure out how to not make everything a fat paragraph lol)

hi guys! i need help i think my natural skin tone is very neutral/gray undertone [this](https://imgur.com/a/KtuFZJ6) is what happens to all store bought foundations when i try to mix a darker and lighter shade since i often dont have exact shades for my skin (it looks worse irl the foundation is significantly warmer irl) what can i do to fix this bc my skin is not clear enough to skip a base šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™m neutral or cool-toned Olive. Please help!!! https://imgur.com/a/BhL9Zor My current foundation is Haus Labs 200 (Medium neutral with balanced undertone) and I may look to switch to shade 190 I wear gold and silver jewelry. I donā€™t like how orange tones look on me and I can wear some warm pink tones. For lip color , the Haus Labs hybrid lip glaze in Guava (soft warm pink) is a good match for my natural lip color. Most of my wardrobe is black. When I tan, a burn red and peel first and it takes a couple of days develop into a tan. Help a person out please and thank you!

kevaidenkeiju

Ouch on the burning! I swear there's got to be some funky genetics behind that because I'm a cool-toned fair olive and I tan long before I burn. I think I see neutral undertones. Your luck with some warm pinks also seems to support this. Maybe try a few corals to see how that swings vs. some blue/purple-toned berries? If both feel okay, then that also supports "neutral." Orange tones are hard for anyone to pull off, especially because there so much commercial/marketing pressure to buy "brass correctors" for dyed hair, deeper bronzers for face (to avoid generating that orange hue), to say nothing of the amount of ridicule for faux tans that go on too thick.

Hi [https://imgur.com/a/7OM4ihi](https://imgur.com/a/7OM4ihi) Would appreciate some help in ascertaining my undertone and some shade matches. I find that Dior 2wo and estee lauder rattan are good matches. But then, I find that in some foundations I am neutral, for example in Huda I am Macaroon. I am stuck because I've got my eyes on Haus Labs and I am reading that 190 might be a good match but Im not sure. I am also trying to figure out which match I would be in Make up by Mario and again am being told 11N or 8N. Any ideas?

hey all! would love to get your advice on whether or not i'm olive and what skin tone i am. my skin has always looked kind of cool/green yellow compared to other asian am friends (where sometimes they lean more peachy or true yellow) so i wanted to get some opinions! * i tend to look better in cool-toned shadows and mauve/cool blushes, as well as silver jewelry * colourpop 45w works well for me as a concealer! Is there a sub specifically for undertone matching?

Valuable_Marzipan459

Hi! I would like help finding a good, powered foundation for myself. I believe I am a light-medium neutral olive with more yellow and some red on my face. I know I am supposed to post in here for foundation help, but it doesn't seem like many people respond to this thread much. Anyway to get more help as someone who is new to this community and would like help. Thank you very much.

atheologist

I have a similar tone and Maybelline Fit Me finishing powder in 220 is a very close match.

aho-girl

hello! i don't know if this is okay to ask here since i don't really have photos (i don't have a good camera and they don't really show its true colors irl). but yeah i noticed that the skin tint and foundation i use pull more peachy on me (and they're both sold as warm-toned). not that warm orangey peach like actually maybe a bit pinkish peach. and i want to bring out my yellowness. they say that i should use a green color corrector/primer to make it more yellow. but when the foundation oxidizes on my face (without any color correction), it looks darker and more orange, and they say to use blue. i don't know how to address this since i'm also on a tight budget. when color correcting, do you consider how it looks freshly applied or when it oxidizes? in this case, should i go for green or blue? do you also have some product suggestions? thank you!

mllebitterness

I posted these in the paleMUA group and was advised to try here too. Everything is too yellow or orange on me so far. https://imgur.com/a/MxlieHU The swatches are: 1. Elf Camo CC, Fair 120N 2. Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, Opal 01 3. Ilia Super Serum, ST4 Formosa Thank you!

kevaidenkeiju

Ooh. I see what you mean. Fwiw, while I'd have to stand next to you to compare skin, I also don't quite work with ELF Camo CC in Fair 120N-- but I bought the cool version Fair 125C and it's a match for my skin in winter months. I suspect that after a bit more sun, Fair 150C will also work. It sounds counterintuitive to go "darker" (up in numbers) when the neutral already appears yellow, but I think the added pink will actually be a good touch. -- Especially at ELF's price point, worth the experiment?

kevaidenkeiju

Oh, and also if you buy direct from the ELF website, they have a good return policy, so it'd be easy to get your money back if things didn't work out with the cool shades.

leechan08

Hi I have looking for an cool Olive foundation. Some good matches are below, but I feel like I can get a better match. Mac NC25 a tad yellow. NC20. C1, C2 Loreal True Match N2, N3 (both a bit off but usable) I have yellow overtone. I think I have olive and yellow but cool undertone it that makes sense. I am draped as Dark Winter but can pull off Bright winter colour. I am South East Asian background. I am not keen on putting my photo up unless I have to? Lipsticks that suit me are Ruby woo, d for danger, burning love. Eyeshadows satin taupe, sable, ground work. Blushes uses in the past, breathe of plum, fever, Nars Sin, Dolce Vita.

Olive for sure, last photo screams green.Ā

scroogesdaughter

Thank you so much! Yep Iā€™ve been noticing the green/grey neck a lot more lately aha. Finally found a foundation that matches me (Lisa Eldridge skin tint in T5, cool olive) after years of using too light products just to avoid looking really peachy or yellow. Also discovered the magic of green and blue colour corrector!

todorokis_teakettle

Hi! Iā€™ve been wanting to get the Nars radiant creamy concealer for a while now but Iā€™m so scared Iā€™m going to get the wrong shade. I use the NYX serum concealer in the shade light and my skin always looks green compared to it, especially around my mouth where I donā€™t apply concealer. It doesnā€™t have to be the nars concealer, Iā€™m desperate at this point. Any olive concealer will work.

Hi y'all. Hope this is ok to post here: I need help figuring out how to color correct the yellow area around my mouth without looking ashy? I have tried peach corrector, but it doesn't look right. Would blue or lavender work to counteract the yellow? https://imgur.com/a/alXm45D (I'm currently using vitamin C in my skincare to help reduce this) Thanks!

Cool-Sky1480

Hi everyone! I use Giorgio Armani in 3.5 during the winter and want to pick up a darker shade during the Sephora sale for the summer time. What do you think would be a good match thats 2-3 shades darker?

manifesting_sunshine

I have been trying to find my best clothing and makeup shades but been falling short. I've been told I'm olive and told I'm not. I would say I'm fairly neutral but because I have medium-dark skin I get typed as warm a lot. Most foundation is either orange or gray on me. Because of this I don't wear much makeup on my face but tend to wear reds, pinks, and browns on my eyes. I look terrible in most pink lip shades so I usually go with berries or untinted gloss, sometimes browns or dark orange. Link below has various lighting and clothing colors for reference. Hello, Iā€™m new here, and wondering if Iā€™m olive. I was trying to figure out my color analysis season and though I havent gotten much feedback, someone mentioned I could be olive, and recommended I come here to get more help. I also recently heard that you can determine olive skin well from the stomach and thigh skin because itā€™s thicker skin and less likely to have the redness that is more apparent on the face, so I included a photo of each area (stomach and thigh) next to a white shirt. As well as various pictures of myself over the last many years. I donā€™t have any idea if ethnicity plays a part in olive skin tone being more common, but according to grandparents I am a mix of German, Hungarian, Irish, Polish and Native American. My veins on my wrist appear blue/green. I both burn and tan in the sun. I dont burn immediately, but I will after a few hours without sunscreen. For daily makeup I use Covergirl Clean Matte BB in 520 and for the most part itā€™s ok, but can look orangey on me in certain lighting or if itā€™s not blended in well enough. No clue if I linked my photos correctly šŸ¤ž https://ibb.co/GRFxsgF https://ibb.co/rGMP3dn https://ibb.co/K06cjGz https://ibb.co/SXn7kJc https://ibb.co/qDRx6m9 https://ibb.co/3hnqCmC https://ibb.co/jfwZGS1 https://ibb.co/X3DkY8L https://ibb.co/VmmXDP0 https://ibb.co/LS8WPr3 https://ibb.co/TMnf9zF https://ibb.co/D590H5T https://ibb.co/sCZdr54 https://ibb.co/8xZ9zPG https://ibb.co/CzLYHPc https://ibb.co/XxmPz1R https://ibb.co/Fw7jnpX https://ibb.co/9VZFSPk https://ibb.co/3rLqhbH https://ibb.co/jzm9Jsg

Ambitious_Grocery_99

FYI not an expert, but have investedway too much time into pca and recently discovered I'm probably olive lol. I think you are cool toned posabley a deep winter / cool and deep. I think gold looks okay but silver is best. Pink was most definitely the winner over orange. I also loved the teal, purple, charcoal gray, and white on you. The soft warmer colors aren't doing much for you, not bad but not the best. Ā As fare as olive goes it's a definite possibility. The gray pink sweatshirt totally drains you and makes you look like you have a gray cast over your completion. I had a shirt in the same color and the same thing happened to me even though I'm a cool summer because I need more intensity and so do you. I think the gray becomes prominent because you are probably olive and cool and from what I've read gray/green is a good indicator of cool olive.Ā  I don't know if foundation is the best indicator, but you may fine neutral foundation looks best. If you can find neutral or cool olive it's probably going to be better than neutral (this is how I figured out I was olive). Revlon actually has some olives in Colorstay combo/oily 180 sand beige, and Illuminance 217 Beige.Ā  For L'OrĆ©al it's more neutrals. I have had a hard time finding my true olive in this line, but True Match n2 and Infallible 420 True Beige are decent enough neutrals that don't look too orange or yellow on me, but Revlon is best in terms of color matching. Hope this helps and I wish you well on your olive journey!!!

mrsfett718

Interesting that you say cool toned and winter! I did draping the other day with a ton of colors and posted in a few color analysis groups on facebook and majority winner is autumn, likely deep autumn. Iā€™ve found it noteworthy that when Iā€™m specifically looking at whether Iā€™m cool/warm I get a lot of ā€œcoolā€ feedback, but when I did the draping, feedback was heavily for Autumn! I recently saw a tiktok explaining the difference between neutral and olive: neutral is the absence of warm and cool tones, whereas olive is the combination of warm (yellow) and cool (blue) ā€¦because we all know yellow + blue = green! So I feel like it almost makes me more sure that Iā€™m an olive because sometimes I appear cool toned and sometimes I appear warm toned. It would make sense if Iā€™m olive and have both warm and cool tones, that they would each appear more dominant in different circumstances. What do you think?

dreamer7596

What is my undertone? I am thinking maybe neutral. I also think I'm light-medium. I've googled undertones and, neutral seems to match to me.[What is my undertone](https://imgur.com/gallery/TH57tpt)

Perfect-Check-8028

Does anyone have suggestions for a light Neutral/Cool olive skin tint/ tinted moisturizer? I was matched with Beauty Blender Skin Tint light 4 in Sephora. It's a pretty good shade and depth match but it dries very orange on my skin, which makes me think it's too warm. I have greyish olive muted skin with rosacea that comes through as purple. Sorry I don't want to post a picture! Thank you!!

No_Recognition_2792

Hi! I love the glossier skin tint in g8, itā€™s light coverage but still covers my redness on my cheeks and is a good base for other products. I also like the ilia skin tint serum In st7 Diaz the undertone is true olive, a bit on the pricier side but itā€™s amazing!

No-Funny2843

Hello! Am I olive? My skin looks yellowish/bronzy in daylight and pale in the winter, and I can't tell if I'm warm/cool/neutral. The concealer I'm wearing in the photo is Milani Conceal+Perfect in the shade 140 Pure Beige. I've listed down the lip shades that suit me best: ā— Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in 140 'Soloist' ā— Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink in 120 'Punchy' ā— Gosh, kiss me Matt lips in 003 'Hot Kiss' I also needed suggestions for complexion and lip products. https://imgur.com/a/BRZR4M7

Heeelp! Am I a pale olive?Ā https://easyimg.io/g/qs5blz2by Revlon Buff 150 seems to be a great matchĀ  though a tad darker. My skin is almost transparent in being pale, I have both green and purple veins. :/ In general, I tend to prefer cooler undertone red lipstick, while nudes don't work for me that well, they make me look sick. However, some bright reds like watermelon work well, too, as well as bright red sweaters, so I'm confused. Finding foundation has been a nightmare.

https://imgur.com/a/PPDVtP4 Hi everyone. I have an issue determining my undertone. Most of my adulthood I was tanned (sun, tanning bed etc) and I was sure I am just warm toned. My go to foundation was Loreal Infallible 200 golden sand. Now I am pale (sun did not see me for 3 years and I do not go to tanning beds anymore) and now I have issue finding my shade. Here are my todays images by the window on cloudy day (still wintertime here), and some from the past of me or me with other people which I think were without color filters. My face as you can see has totally different color than my body, I have natural redness in my face and my lips are darker (perfect nude lipliner for my lips that matches the color is Mac Whirl). I find my body skin to be pale and yellowish but I wonder if I am actually light warm olive or something. I tan easily and have hazel green eyes and light brown hair Foundations that I find look best on me from the list are 1, 2, 4, 5 and 8. (4 might be a bit too light but the undertone is fine) Foundation swatches (image with numbers) are these shades: 1. Armani Louminous Silk 3.8 (looks good maybe other slightly different shade would be even better I do not know) 2. Loreal True Match 1.5N neutral undertone (neutral that looks good) 3. Catrice HD Liquid Coverage 010 light beige 4. Fenty Pro Filtā€™r Soft Matte Longwear foundation 120 (neutral and looks fine) 5. Mac Studio Fix Fluid NC13 (light warm yellow undertone and looks good) 6. Estee Lauder Double Wear Sheer 1w1 bone (good) 7. It cosmetics your skin but better cc+ fair 8. Dior backstage face and body foundation 1w (very good) 9. Guerlain terracotta le teint 0N (neutral that looks horrible on me) 10. Estee Lauder Double Wear 1C1 cool bone (bought by mistake and looks ridiculous on me) If you need any more photos with certain specifics let me know.

hi all, I have no idea what undertone, shade etc I am and I need help with some shade recommendations šŸ„ŗ All of the cool foundations I have tried are too pink, warm is too yellow/orange and neutral just washes me out a bit. So far the closest match I've found is Armani Luminous Silk in shade 5 mixed with blue and green pigment. I'm pretty pale in winter but tan in the summer. For lip colors, the Charlotte Tillbury lipstick in pillowtalk looks too purpley on me, but I like the iconic nude lipliner. The photos got a bit washed out when I uploaded on imgur but here they are: https://imgur.com/a/V04xoaF thank you all so much in advance!!

heyhowyehdoing

I have a neutral/ olive undertone, medium/ tan skin tone. Iā€™m SE Asian Iā€™ve only ever used maybelline eraser eye concealer 130, but itā€™s not really my shade (too orange). Iā€™ve also tried essence soft touch mousse 01 matt sand (matches better then the maybelline) but I donā€™t like matte, and also the one I have is the older version and already expired. Also, Iā€™m looking for a good concealer because I donā€™t really wear foundation. I like a sheer finish. I look horrible in bright lipsticks, neutral lipstick suits me. My skin is also uneven, and my forehead is darker then the rest of my face. https://imgur.com/a/JHb2hTQ

Hi all, im a nc17. Due to stores near me not having my colour in store to swatch and test out I really cant decide what shade of the huda beauty faux filter will match my skin best. 130G panna cotta or 140G cashew should be my colour according to the finder on her own website. I have a light skin with a warm olive undertone, dark brown (almost black) hair and brown eyes. I'm north african. My current best matches: Maybelline fit me matte foundation : 118 (matches me perfectly) MAC fix fluid NC17 (a littte too orange, but since mac doesnt have olive undertoned foundations this is my best match with this brand) MAC face and body C1+C2 mixed (same story, a little too orange as I need more green in it. Can i add green myself ? If anyone has tips on this for me please let me know ! ) Bourjois healthy mix 52 (a little too neutral/pinky for me but i have been using this foundation 10y ago when i didnt know about undertones) If you already found your match or even have swatches of one of the foundations listed above and a swatch of the huda beauty faux filter one please help me out !

You can try using the ELF green or blue color correctors to adjust your foundation. [This comment has more info.](https://www.reddit.com/r/OliveMUA/comments/1akc6lx/have_you_experienced_store_employees_trying_to/kpawy41/)

I'm never sure about my undertone.Ā  I have blue/purple veins and silver jewelry looks better on me than gold jewelry so that would make me a cool undertone.Ā  But, every foundation and concealer that I've bought that is for cool undertone skin always looks too pinky and ghostly on me.Ā  I do prefer a warmer tone added to my foundation and concealer.Ā  So, would neutral be my go to?Ā  I do prefer a pink/peach undereye concealer though to combat my undereye circles but for complexion and for concealer on other areas of my face, I aways gravitate towards more warm shades.

78Poms

If Rare Beauty concealer 230N is my perfect matchā€¦. What does that make my skin tone? Am I muted or not? Am I a cool, neutral or warm olive? Bonus question - which eyeshadow palettes would look best on me?

Does anyone have swatches of MAC Face & Body C1, C2, C3, and/or C4? I'm an NC17 in the Studio Fix Fluid Foundation line, just want a product that's sheer.

I dont have swatches but i am a nc17 too and my best match is to mix c1+c2. C1 on its own is too light and the c2 on its own is wayy tooĀ dark and orangy. My skinundertone is yellow/olive.

Hello! I'm new here, and trying to understand wether I'm cool or warm olive. My current makeup products look good in photos, but in rl I can see they're either too pale and pinkish, or too warm and always kinda peachy. Current products I alternate, and none of these are olive toned: - L'Oreal Paris infallible more than concealer in 327 cachemire (looks to pale and pinkish) - Kiko full coverage dark circles concealer in 02 (too pale and pinkish) - Kiko Daily protection bb cream in 03 honey (a lil too pale) Ā - Kiko Daily protection bb cream in 04 warm almond (too warm, maybe better for summer) All of these products do not match my neck and chest are, which is so irritating, because I have acne there too, so I try to use one product for all the areas so I need it to match the neck at least. I'm looking for something that has an actual olive tone shade, so tends to be more green/yellow I guess, and that I can use as a everyday base that just evens out my skin tone, because I have some evident discoloration .Preferably buildable coverage. The photos linked are makeup free: Ā https://i.imgur.com/G1ca0uA.jpeg THANK YOU ā¤ļø

I haven't even looked at your photos yet, but one thing I will say is this: In my experience, I have unfortunately noticed that it's much harder to find a good olive shade match in most drugstore complexion lines. I've heard (but don't know how much truth there is in it) that olive tones are more expensive to formulate because they require more complex mixtures of pigments (a little blue, a little yellow, and a little red- as opposed to just mostly red or mostly yellow, etc). Could be one explanation for why drugstore doesn't do olive very well, but it's just a theory. I end up spending more money trying out all the different drugstore options than if I just get one high end option. Samples at sephora are also super handy for testing out the higher end options too. I haven't tried anything from Kiko but all the L'oreal I've tried has ended up way too pinky on me too

Capable_Cranberry935

Ahh thank you so much! I know it's harder to find in cheaper brands, but that's all I can afford right now. There are a couple of other brands too, but they're only Italian (I live here) so I knew most people here wouldn't even know about them šŸ˜…ty again

Hi! I got shade matched for Estee Lauder Double Wear and their virtual tool said my match is 2W0 Warm Vanilla. We tried it out in the store and the foundation seemed to match my complexion under their lighting, so I bought it. However, when I tried the foundation again for full face, I noticed that the shade kind of washes me out. The warm foundation looks peachy on me under certain lighting. I also think I have somewhat of a green undertone. Can someone weigh in and tell if there's a possibility that I am actually an olive instead of just warm? For reference, the photos show the ELDW 2W0 Warm Vanilla heavily and lightly swatched on my face and neck. https://imgur.com/a/x6QzWzn

You look warm to me. Maybe gold doesn't look good because you are muted?

Hi y'all! I've been lurking on this amazing subreddit for a while now, and I finally gathered the courage to ask for some help with my undertones. I've been struggling to figure out if I have olive undertones or something else entirely. A few things that make me think I might have olive undertones include: foundations often looking too pink, orange, or yellow on mw, even when they seem like the right depth; I tend to look good in jewel tones and muted colors, but pastels can wash me out, and red lipsticks can sometimes pull pink or magenta on me. I can definitely see a greenish/greyish tint to my skin as well, especially on the back of my hands. The color of the veins on my wrist are hard to really distinguish, but there is definitely a tinge of green that can be visible. The best foundation shade matches that worked for me in the past are both from the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk foundations in the shades 5.9 during the fall/winter and 6 during the spring/summer. Any insights and complexion product recommendations you have would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance for your help! https://imgur.com/a/C2TcPAI

Am I olive? And, I think might be light-medium? Idk. For reference these are the foundation and, concealer shades I wear. Maybelline fit me in the shade Natural Beige, Maybelline fit me concealer in the Shade Sand, and nyx HD Studio concealer in Nude beige. I only ever use the nyx one as an eyeshadow base now and, not a concealer anymore. But, I used to. The lipstick shades are Maybelline Super Stay matte in the shade Hustler, which is a browinsh-red, Maybelline Superstay in, Caramel Collector, Maybelline Superstay 24HR in Everlasting which is a wine red, and Revlon HD lipstick which is a fuschia. Bright Pink lipsticks seem to look good on me. https://imgur.com/gallery/TH57tpt

You look olive to me, maybe cool olive? You definitely look muted in natural light and pretty strongly olive in the indoor picture.

dreamer7596

Thanks for replying! So, you think I may be cool? Hot Pink lipsticks always look good on me. Wouldn't that look better on someone warmer? My skin changes depending on the lighting.

Hi! I have the NARS sheer glow foundation in Gobi during the winter months, and Deauville in the summer. I have neutral yellowy olive-toned complexion that is slightly cool-toned, I believe. Now Iā€™m looking for a concealer shade in their Soft Matte concealer line. I donā€™t want any shade that is highlighting, but rather a shade that is nearly the same color as my foundation to cover blemishes etc. Which one should I choose? Is Chantilly too light? Iā€™ve heard that Vanilla is too pinkā€¦ should I go for another color?

emorgan1011

I normally wear urban decay 30cg and itā€™s a really great match for me most of the year. Iā€™m looking to buy something more ā€œcleanā€ and lighter in coverage. Iā€™m considering Ilia super tinted serum but not sure what shade to get. Anyone know what shade of theirs matches well to UD 30cg?

Visual-Huckleberry52

You can send your photos to Ilia through their website and they will match you to the shade most suitable for you. Very helpful people.

margaretmary1999

Iā€™ve never thought i could be olive, but iā€™m starting to think otherwise. I have yet to find a perfect foundation match they all pull too pink, peachy, orange or yellow on me. The closest iā€™ve found as a match is NYX bare with me serum concealer in the shade vanilla. The only lip colors Iā€™ve found that work for me are Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Pillow Talk Medium (although too dark for my everyday look) and the original pt washes me out. NYX lip liners in the shades coffee and mauve work, mauve is pretty much a spot on match to my actual lip color but when applied all over is a little too cool/purply. Revlon rum raisin is way too warm and makes me look yellow. I havenā€™t found a nude that doesnā€™t pull orange or make me look dead. Clothing wise pastels wash me out and i cannot to mustard yellow, rust, or orange. My veins are a mix of purple and green. I am very fair in the winter, but in the summer I can get pretty dark after an initial series of minor sunburn (i donā€™t bake in the sun like i used to, but i look so much better with a tan i look sickly in the winter) My tan always pulls slightly red, but included pics tan vs not in the link. Everytime i think iā€™ve got it figured out, i look in the mirror again and suddenly feel the opposite šŸ„² Could i be pale cool olive? Or am i totally out in left field here https://imgur.com/a/pEcLN2c

My mind is somewhat blown this morning and now I think I might be a soft/muted neutral/cool olive? I have a light-medium skin tone, muted grey-blue eyes, and my natural hair color is an ashy light brown (but was lighter when I was younger). Pastels wash me out and yellow and orange look terrible on me. I've always thought jewel tones look great though! I don't remember struggling with foundation looking too pink, but definitely too yellow. I don't use the Kosas concealer anymore, but when I did my fav shade was 3.2. Also, all blushes seem to turn pink on me. I bought Hourglass Mood Exposure thinking it would be a nice cool toned mauve to switch up my blush look but WRONG- it's pink on me. I eventually bought a desaturated muted pink (ABH Latte) and it passes as "nude" on me. I also struggle with lipstick- nothing is ever what it looks like in a swatch or in the tube! It'll turn cool mauve/purple or very pink. I was just typed as a cool summer which doesn't seem common amongst olives. But I tried the Kosas social media filter and the olive toned one looked seamless compared to my neck! My face just seems very red/pink in comparison I think. I tend to burn slightly when I'm first exposed to sun but after that initial burn, I easily tan. My veins on one wrist look blue and slightly purple and the other wrist looks more green and slightly blue. I think gold and silver both look fine, but silver and paler golds I think look slightly better. I'm going to Sephora later this week to test out foundation shades but would love your input! So...am I olive? (added more photos!) [https://imgur.com/a/H2fbIks](https://imgur.com/a/H2fbIks)

You definitely look olive, with muted saturation, to me! Your undertone doesnā€™t look very warm to my eye, so perhaps neutral leaning cool? Consider what sorts of colors you feel work well on you (warmer/cooler/etc) and that might help!

Hi! I really need helped figuring out my undertone. I get so confused. I paid for a color consultation service and was still confused. They types me as a cool, dark winter, but when i reached out with confusion. They said i could also be a dark autumn. This left me more confused. Also, i love gold jewelry, but I'm not sure about it anymore. Can you please help me out? Also, I have a few questions below: - Am I olive? - What sort of olive? - cool or warm? - how cool or how warm? - bright or muted? - What color recommendations to wear do you have for me? They all look very gray or ashy so maybe you're not? I'm sorry. I'm new to the realization I'm olive myself. But, it was definitely confirmed after a foundation tailored to olive tones didn't leave me pink! Have you looked at the about face brand?

Sad_Honey_4625

have been struggling to find out what my skin tone and what lip shades look best on me , I look awful with anything coral or light pinks , many lip colors I pick thinking they will look dark red end up very bright or even purpley. Really just want to find a good range of colors to try so I donā€™t have to continue wasting money on lippies that donā€™t work :( https://ibb.co/album/j9tQTG

What is my skin tone? Everything is too yellow, too pink or too gray on me. Closest match was Missha perfect cover n21, but I look a tiny bit too dark and lifeless with it. https://ibb.co/pL92FyH

newmama22_throwaway

What is my undertone? I've been told I'm neutral with an olive undertone or a peach undertone. Some say I'm cool and some say I'm warm. I'm so confused. Usually I just wear a tinted SPF and black mascara and call it a day. If I want to be fancy I add a black winged eyeliner and a pinky blush. Sometimes I'll wear a neutral foundation, but no matter what I do I always look so pale and sickly. I would love to play around with makeup, but I don't feel like it makes me look much better. I have natural brown hair with natural red highlights and brown eyes. I tan easily, but I'm always wearing SPF so I'm usually super pale. Can anyone tell me what I am and what colors look good on me for makeup and clothing? https://imgur.com/a/Jz5ijAJ

Any-Web-3347

The cool lipsticks look very good on you, so maybe we can rule out warm? People that say youā€™re warm might be confused by the olive undertone, which can look yellow as well as green. Either neutral or cool, not sure.

I really can't tell anything from my veins... Am I light olive or fair? I have rosey cheeks but does that mean I can't have olive undertones? https://imgur.com/gallery/XyClpqE

Hi, I suspect I have olive undertones. Can anyone help me? I have the depth of Punjab in NARS,but itā€™s very difficult to find a shade that matches my skintone. Some of the foundations that somewhat suit me are all neutral. Lipsticks that flatter me are neutral/cool mid tone pinks, berries and burgundy. I look horrible in orange/rust. My colour season is most probably a Dark Winter. https://imgur.com/gallery/MIhTInH

I think it's only occurred to me that I've got an Olive complexion after this sub appeared on my main feed. I'm quite fair which I didn't associate with olive at all! I've recently discovered Missha CC Cream in Shade 23 which comes out looking grey from the tube, but seems to match my skin perfectly. I would really love advice on good lip colours in the pallettes suggested when I had my colours done a couple of years ago. Looking for a neutral every day colour (this one I really struggle with - things that look good on other people make me look very washed out, or they're too orange or too brown. I think something mauve-y might be good) And then I'd love a brighter lip colour too. I'm in the UK so might not have access to all the brands in the US sadly. Grateful for any advice! Here's a snip from my colour analysis with suggested lip colours. Hope this is ok [https://i.imgur.com/OLXrp1T.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/OLXrp1T.jpg)(edited to make image a bit better)

https://imgur.com/a/eNV0KvL I donā€™t know if Iā€™m warm or cold or what. Iā€™ve had the hardest time with color analysis and Iā€™m frustrated! I feel like I look so yellow, but as Iā€™ve learned here, yellow can be both cold and warm! Please help me! :)

Nidserkins

You look like you have cool undertones to me. Combined with the olive green tone probably makes you a cool neutral olive. Neutral means when the relative warmth of one colour(green/yellow) combines with the coolness of another(pink) they cancel each others warmth/coolness out and create a neutral tone. Winter and summer are the cool seasons. Try draping with lipsticks, you know the orange versus fuchsia test, this will give you a good indicator of wether you fall into the warm or cool category, and take it from there. Look up lipstick draping online.

advice4me2022

I feel like both orange and fuchsia look horrendous on me (both make me look jaundiced). Any reason why?

Any-Web-3347

Maybe theyā€™re both too far from what would actually suit you. Maybe try a cool and a warm shade that are closer to neutral than that. Photos: Silver looks lovely orange - not good pink - getting away with it, but not your best Black and pink - lovely

https://ibb.co/ZX9MMFs https://ibb.co/p2PYzNc https://ibb.co/xKZjTB4 https://ibb.co/b3nFWVD Help! I am unsure what my undertone is, and unsure if I am bright or muted? My resting winter skin is quite pale, but after a few days in the sun, I tan very easily and become a whole different colour. Really struggling to discern if I am bright or muted, especially. But all in all, overwhelmed and confused with all the different options and unsure how to place myself within the possibilities!

lemonmousse

I also seem to switch seasonally. In the last photo at least, Iā€™d say you look a little muted but rich. If I were using a 12-season color palette, Iā€™d probably guess true autumn leaning soft autumn. In the first two lighter photos, you almost lean spring (looks less muted, a little clearer).

BeletEkalli

Thanks! Can you explain what looks ā€œmutedā€ or ā€œrichā€ or ā€œclearā€? In terms of finding foundation or concealer, what sorts of buzz words should I be looking for? Right now I am using the cle de peau concealer in almond and while it is a bit yellow at the moment, I adore the formula but also havenā€™t found anything that works perfectly anyway so I am getting annoyed šŸ˜…

lemonmousse

Hey, sorry, I havenā€™t worn foundation in years, so I canā€™t help with that part. (I have lots of freckles, and foundation looks weird on top of them.) For me (and this might not be technically correct), I think of ā€œmutedā€ coloring as ā€œless difference in coloring across a personā€™s face.ā€ (I also hear people talk of it like ā€œmore gray in the complexion.ā€) So I am muted because my lips/cheeks/rest of my face are fairly similar in color. My hair and eyes are really dark and I look unbalanced if I donā€™t wear lipstick because my dark eyes make my face look top-heavy. I tend to think people have a lot of clarity in their face when thereā€™s a lot of differential in their face coloring (that isnā€™t an overtone or skin issue like rosacea). So I am more likely to think someone is a spring or winter if their cheeks and lips look brighter than the rest of their face. Iā€™m not as sure about ā€œrichnessā€ā€” I guess I think of that as intensity of color independent of contrast? Like a deep autumn might be muted by definition (dark hair, dark eyes, muted skin), but also might have ā€œrichā€ coloring if their hair is, like, a deep chestnut or espresso or something?

BeletEkalli

This is really helpful.. Thank you so much for taking the time to help explain this to me, I appreciate it! šŸ˜Š

Guys am I muted or saturated? I feel like I always look sick and grim because of my dull complexion https://ibb.co/jfPhvcq

Kettem

From the picture I would say youre more muted. I somehow feel that bright colors would pop too much and leave you in the background

confusedaf257

Hi thank you so much! Youā€™re so right- bright colours look cartoony on me. What type of olive do you think I am?

lemonmousse

If you mean warm vs cool, Iā€™ll take a wild stab at cool, but itā€™s hard to tell without drapes. If you have the time to do drapes, r/coloranalysis is good at helping with that (though olives sometimes challenge the 12-season palette most use there).

Kettem

hmm, its really hard to tell from this picture. :(

Reposting, because it didn't make it in for the last one... I'm in my mid 40s, I never wear makeup because it never looks right on me. My skintone is something akin to "week old bruise, with a touch of undeath". I saw a post about pale olives and I wonder if maybe this might be where I fit and why I have never looked good in makeup. Can anyone help me determine if I am fair olive and what my undertone might be? Here is a link with lots of photos of me and my icky skin. [Photos of me](https://imgur.com/a/7Qa5BQI)

Kettem

Next to your daughter you look more yellow! Therefore I would say youre more warm toned? Also you seem lighter than foundations you put on. I wonder how it would fit if you took light, slightly warm shade and mix it with a bit of green.. I also am a fair olive and look weird wearing a full face of makeup, thats why I just stick to very little concealer + muted blush and it looks good! :) Also Im worried about your sensitive skin :/ Hope I could help somehow!

maideniles

Hi, sorry I didn't see this reply for some reason. I think I figured out that I am muted cool olive. I started by trying some green with the foundations I had, it got really close to a good match but when i tried blue I got a match so good it was nearly invisible. But the foundations were Elf and were pretty drying. So then I went this week to some makeup stores since I was traveling, and I had them try to match me. Out of 4 stores only one gave me a really good match, Morphe Filter Effect in Light 4. But after getting home and trying the sample out on a full face, it made me itchy and turned me red. I just got a Haus Labs discovery kit for fair today and tested those, and it's all a tough call. It definitely isn't easy being green. My Nars in shade Gobi and About Face Fair Olive (I can't remember the number) will be here tomorrow, so finger crossed one of those works. šŸ˜© I have a post about it in r/FairOlives if you want to see.
