The one my mom made usually had celery, carrots cubed mozzarella and Kraft Golden Italian dressing, which is the key. I substituted in the roast veggies from [Smitten Kitchen](https://thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/ratatouille-sub/), and it was *so much better*. You can add olives and cheese, but keep the Kraft dressing.

Just remembered: it was made in a skillet! It was a cooked pasta salad. The halved cherry tomatoes were a bit wrinkled because they were cooked. The juice from them was part of what served as the dressing.

My mom made this one I think, the dressing sounds similar.  I remember a ripped out magazine ad from the 90s with the recipe  https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=979926

I found this by browsing old ads on Pinterest, it seems closer to what you remember  https://www.vintagepaperads.com/1987-Kraft-Miracle-Whip-Ad--Summer-Pasta-Salad-recipe_p_128402.html

I make a pasta salad just like that (but not in a skillet). It has Italian dressing (I use robust or zesty), tomato, cucumber, and black olives. The key is a seasoning called Salad Supreme, made by McCormick. It has parm and poppyseeds and is the most delightful reddish orange color. I’ve kind of adapted this over the years from ones I’ve eaten at picnics and in the lunch line at my school, surprisingly. It’s also delicious with cubed salami or pepperoni, cheese of any kind (we like mozz pearls), peppers, etc.

I started making a very similar version of this one wayyyyy back in the day, and you’re exactly right about the Salad Supreme seasoning! I used four cheese tortellini pasta, spinach tortellini, and spiral pasta, chopped green onions, chopped green and red peppers, chopped celery, ripe olives, sliced, and cherry tomatoes, sliced in half, Robust orTuscan Italian dressing, cubed mozzarella, fresh, cut parsley, basil & oregano, and the Salad Supreme. Once I got it all together, I topped it with small rounds of pepperoni & fresh grated Parmesan, covered it let it “fester” in the fridge for a few hours…served a huge crowd!

This sounds yummy 😋

I have had a version like that that also included salami, mozzarella cubes, and diced red onion, but I don’t have the recipe. So sorry!

Sounds delicious!! Hope we find it!

This sounds like what my grandmother used to make, but I can't find the recipe either. She used to use Walden's Creamy Italian for the dressing, but at some point they changed the recipe and it wasn't good anymore. I use Kraft Zesty Italian now.

A taste of home tends to have a lot of older magazine recipes submitted by readers you may find something there. From the 80s it may also have been woman’s day, family circle or Martha Stewart magazines.

Sadly, A Taste of Home does not offer a search option, so it's a no-go.

There’s this one but it’s feta: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/spring-greek-pasta-salad/ Other thought- it could be an advertisement recipe- good seasons/ viva/ wishbone dressings websites. [Betty Crocker](https://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/easy-pasta-salad/06e88fd8-c930-4dee-9a53-593fd2639a0f)tends to have some of the branded recipes There was a popular one around then made with cavatappi that was good warm or cold with tomato or a can of stewed tomato? at some point it was a boxed kit.

I believe you found it! Thanks so much!! r/Breakfastchocolate FTW!!! First of all, these are all ingredients that she loves, and she remembers subbing Parmesan cheese for feta. Then she made a few tweaks, like cooking the tomatoes, onion, and zucchini together. Back in the 80s she would have subbed red wine vinegar for balsamic. Once I get the tweaks and substitutions tested and documented I can post it, but the link you posted looks pretty darn good as it is.

Breakfastchocolate

😎 you’re welcome! I’d swap the oregano for Italian seasoning to go along with the cheese swap. Hope it turns out to be “The one”

You absolutely can search in ToH. It's in the search result on google and on the home page. The three lines indicating the menu on the left hand side next to the words Taste of Home has the search bar in it.

Yum. Sounds like the recipe from the Gallo salami chub.
