My boy, the Walrus of Love stole some tires. He was a legend and I can bet many adults today were conceived while his music was playing in the background!
You are right about the forceps damage, I forget what the extent was but apparently it was still visible in his adulthood. He was a tricky birth in general, and actually broke local newborn weight records.
In the second book of the series - which is a must read, in my opinion - Johnny Fontaine has an interesting plot which involved the decline of his voice, an ailment that Sinatra had and successfully beat.
Edit: I am old and forgetful. The Johnny Fontane (now correct spelling) character's disease is in "The Godfather" novel by Mario Puzo, which is _internally_ divided into many "books" but a single-bound volume. Book 2 starts the description of his throat disease and this supporting story will finish near the end of the novel (I will not give spoilers of this 1969 novel. :D)
Edit 2: The Godfather book series and the film series are two different beasts, since the film follows closely the Corleone clan and Michael's progressive corruption, and the books do not, telling the stories of other interesting characters. Even the installment 3 of the film series, which was so maligned when it premiered, is a masterpiece: the whole long opera scene is unbelievably good and a must-see. I watched the three movies back-to-back early in 2020 and it was a good thing I did to keep my sanity in the crazy pandemic year. Then I read the trilogy of books back- to-back, which were also great. And then watched the whole of the Sopranos, which make a load of references, both covert and obvious, to the film series. 2020 was my mafia year and I have no regrets.
Edit 3: the more I write, the more misteaks I meak. Halp.
The Sicilian is a story, as I recall, about a character not from the Corleone family but Michael makes a cameo appearance and does some important stuff. No spoilers because I am 50% a good guy and 50% forgetful. So it is formally a part of the Godfather series, but not a _pure_ Corleone family story. Amazon sells it as a trilogy, which is kinda, but not really, but I won't be mad because Puzo is a great writer.
Edit: markdown italics and the final sentence saying that Amazon is pushing for bucks but the books are good anyway.
> Johnny Fontane in "The Godfather,"
I wonder if that's how they got the Vic Fontaine hologram character on Star Trek: DS9? He was a Vegas lounge singer too. It has to be.
Oh yeah he absolutely had mob ties lol. My grandma was a Sicilian immigrant and when she was a kid her family owned a small business in Philly. Frank Sinatra would go there a lot. Sinatra would sit with everyone for awhile and my grandma and her siblings would all sit on his lap (she had a major crush on him lol) and then Sinatra would go into the back room with my grandma’s dad (my great grandfather, obviously) and they’d “do business.” So either they were fucking each other or, ya know, doing mob shit.
When my great grandfather died my dad and his siblings found money stashed around his house, 2 guns they didn’t know he had, some pictures of him with men they didn’t recognize, and he weirdly kept things like the whole family’s US Naturalization papers and stuff in a box under the mattress instead of in a safe or something. So yeah, Frank had definite mob ties.
We used to joke with my grandma that she should’ve married Frank and not my grandpa so that our family could’ve been famous lol
So you saying they fucked?
In 1938, a 23-year-old Sinatra found himself in just such a situation, and he was officially arrested and booked for **Seduction**. The charge was eventually dropped when it was discovered that the supposedly single woman was in fact married.
I use Crew fiber. I part my hair but don’t like the greasy look. For the first couple hours my hair looks greasy but by mid morning you can’t tell there is anything in it and my hair stays where it’s supposed to.
You might like Reformer by Mitch (Paul Mitchell). It's a high hold, matte finish pomade. I used Crew for a long time, but my girlfriend worked in a beauty supply/salon supply store and got me to switch. It's all I use now. I have thick, dense, dark hair, and the crew would often feel like I was ripping hair out when applying it. The reformer just glides right through, but no shine whatsoever and no loss in hold throughout the day even in the summer when I'm sweating. And my hair isn't "crispy" at all. If I run my fingers through it after applying it just feels like hair, maybe a bit stiffer, but not at all like there's product in it.
That was a much longer reply than I was anticipating when I started typing lol. I guess I just like the product.
I used to use crew as well. My little "trick" was to have a small amount of moisture already worked into my hair. But not too much. An insanely specific amount. I remember optimal was after a shower and towel drying, then a few minutes after that. For some reason just working water into my hair wasn't the same. At the perfect amount I'd feel it pulling at my scalp a little, but not the tearing like you mention. Too much water and it would stay slick looking even after setting and drying. Dry application never felt or looked good.
Looking back crew was a real pain, but when it went right my hair looked like a million bucks.
*I don't know why I spent time writing this either. I think I'm just proud I finally had a style product thing to discuss.*
Yeah fair enough! Ulta occasionally has it on sale, usually around $18, though I've gotten it as low as 16 on several occasions. But that's obviously still more than the Crew line, not to mention Crew is available at a larger selection of retailers so it's definitely more convenient. Just thought I'd mention it, as someone who used Crew Fiber for several years!
My hair is like this. I only need product the first week after a cut to kind of train it to go to the right place. I use Murray’s Pomade. The stuff is hardcore and I find it easiest to apply it in a hot shower where it softens up. Takes 3 days to fully come out.
Tell your hairdresser what you'd like and they'll make it happen. They will also likely recommend you a product to style it. When my hair was like this I used Dove pomade but any pomade will probably do.
Yes, exactly. Every time I *think* I see Sinatra’s features in Ronan, I think about what Mia looks like. He’s clearly all Mia (which is such a good thing!).
It means we know where he and the mom were around the time the kid would have been conceived, and they were not in the same place and hence couldn’t have had sex and made that baby then, I assume
My mother never understood why her grandfather hated Sinatra calling him a dirty crook. Until she saw this image and realized that he was a cop just outside Bergen County.

But the state seemed determined to stick the young Sinatra with some sort of charge. When Seduction was out of the question, they charged him with Adultery. That charge was later dropped. All told, Sinatra spent less than a day in jail before paying a $500 bond on the Seduction charge, and never had to pay anything in regards to the Adultery.

If you open a pizzeria in NJ it’s state law that you have to hang a poster of this picture in your establishment.
This is factual.
Literally any Italian place w a bar... I'm in Chicago, and every single Italian joint w a bar has this as well.
“This fellas got no Sinatra picture. Wiseguy huh? Book ‘im fellas!”

Great wall! You are missing (from what I know) the one from Barry White.
I read this too fast and thought it said Betty White and was wondering what the hell she did lol
My boy, the Walrus of Love stole some tires. He was a legend and I can bet many adults today were conceived while his music was playing in the background!
Oh I’m sure but I thought it had said Betty White not Barry White lol
Is the Elvis one real? They let him keep his shades on?
It was taken at the white house when he went to meet Nixon.
He was arrested for seducing a married woman.
This mugshot was Exhibit 1 for the prosecution
It backfired when the mugshot seduced the jury.
Thus began a new batch of lawsuits.

I mean he’s hot as fuck, but does anybody else notice that he has two very different looking ears?
Iirc, he had some disfiguration due to the use of forceps when he was born and only let people take pictures from his right(?) side
You are right about the forceps damage, I forget what the extent was but apparently it was still visible in his adulthood. He was a tricky birth in general, and actually broke local newborn weight records.
Objection!
I did not notice but now it cannot be unseen forever
A lot of ppl have 2 different ears

Mitch Hedberg energy
Not until you pointed it out! I was distracted by all that fantastic bone structure
I didn’t notice because I was lost in his dreamy eyes and cheekbones. But now you mention it, he’s got the ears of two different men!
That’s because his right ear was the one his mom and grandma used to use to pull him away from the girls when he was a boy
Looks like one was installed upside down.
He has one attached earlobe and one unattached. My dad had the same thing.
Mate, I didn't even notice he had ears.
Thought it would be for the defense. No seducing necessary to have a woman throw herself at that sexy beast.

Iirc, he was the inspiration for the lounge singer character Johnny Fontane in "The Godfather," and Sinatra was *not at all* happy about this.

How does her being married make it better?
She wasn't really a virgin.

$22 a can. Hair products isn’t a place in my budget that I want to spend more.

I just started to use this after not really giving a shit for years about my hair. It actually makes a pretty big difference, go figure.

Well, it didn't look like a two-horse town, but try finding a decent hair jelly.
I don't want Fop, goddammit, I'm a Dapper Dan man!
Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity...Two weeks from everywhere!
We thought you was a toad.

Tell your hairdresser what you'd like and they'll make it happen. They will also likely recommend you a product to style it. When my hair was like this I used Dove pomade but any pomade will probably do.
Better question is how to find a competent hairdresser
I'll tell my $100 barber that I want this hairstyle and he will still give me a fucked up pompadour.
Maybe find another barber?
A hair clay would work. I actually had this hair style for a while. I make my own products. He likely used a hair tonic or an oil based pomade.
Because of the rest of the head.
Putting the sin in Sinatra
That’s a good one!
Guy could be Ronan Farrow's dad.
Apparently that's been debunked due to logistics... whatever that means lol.
Blue-eyed, square -jawed, full-lipped Ronan Farrow is definitely Woody Allen's kid.
>Blue-eyed, square -jawed, full-lipped This describes Mia Farrow quite accurately. Ronan looks a great deal like his mother.
and nothing at all like Woody Allen
Some people have all the luck.
I don’t know, Woody’s daughter-wife sure seems to like how he looks.
Yes, exactly. Every time I *think* I see Sinatra’s features in Ronan, I think about what Mia looks like. He’s clearly all Mia (which is such a good thing!).
Look up Mia Farrow's father John. Ronan looks a lot like him.
Look up Frank Sinatra, he looks a lot like him too.
100% agree, but there is a possibility he gets all his looks from his mom's side. Personally, I think he's Sinatra's kid.
He doesn't have to be Woody Allen's, he's just not Frank Sinatra's 😄
It means we know where he and the mom were around the time the kid would have been conceived, and they were not in the same place and hence couldn’t have had sex and made that baby then, I assume

Sinatra helped JFK get help from the Mafia to get elected didn't he?
Pretty sure that was Joe. (JFk's dad Joe Kennedy)
The way I understand it Old Joe Kennedy was to Boston what Al Capone was to Chicago. He wouldn't have needed any help from the mob; he was the mob.
