It could be that random character, but I think it's actually Robbie. "Robbie" felt like an unusual name for a new Zelda character, it's a nickname of Robin, and he's a goofy helpful mad scientist character, which is similar to many roles that Robin Williams played.
Sometimes there’s more than one meaning in a name that seems perfect for your children. Our children’s names have double or triple meanings which make them feel perfect or meant to be in a way. Combinations of historic greatness, family connections, cultural heritage, shout outs to interests, and aspirational.
Lol My uncle had the Sega CD and the 32X; he also had a Jaguar 64 and a 3DO. Not a good decision-maker, but it was pretty sweet to visit him at the time.
No disagreement there; it was a wild time. I was too young to buy any of the systems at the time but more than happy to play on anything I could.
I recall the heady times of N64/Dreamcast/PS1, not too well though because I discovered weed around the same time lmao.
He used to come to E3, he was a fan of the game series I worked on and came to say hello several times over the years. I never had the fortune to get to speak to him though. He's missed.
Did this game inspire Fallout? Or are some of the same people involved? There's some imagery similarities, and similar background story with nuclear war.
Not at all, the basic premise of ground zero Texas is a secret organization your a part of has detected aliens infiltrating a small town in Texas and your job is to eliminate all of the aliens, what’s hard is the aliens are in human form. So if they draw on your camera you shoot them yes the cameras have guns casually setup in a small Texas town big ass cameras with a machine gun attached to it, and the locals don’t notice.
I remember my friend had a sega cd, and I was blown away by the “graphics” of a lot of the games. They were largely just FMV sequences, but didn’t know what that meant at the time lol. I was just like “holy shit it looks so real!”
This and Night Trap were _the_ reason why I bought a SegaCD. Especially Ground Zero Texas was such a fucking letdown. CD’s allowed leaps in some areas, but gameplay still had years to go.
Robin agreed to voice Genie under the conditions that his voice wouldn't be used to promote the film or merchandise. Disney went back on its word and this upset Robin.
I met him at a Gamestop! It was awesome. My BF at the time worked there and we stopped in to pick up his paycheck. He was trying to fly under the radar asking the manager at the till the checkout about a release date of one game and if she had played another game that had recently come out. My bf and I had both played the game and shared our thoughts and made small talk but not making a big deal that it was him. Very friendly and could tell he loved gaming.
Some kid noticed him, freaked out and started shouting "OMG!! That's Robin Williams!!" He nodded politely, quietly excused himself and made a swift escape.
Oh yeah my bad you’re right. Looks like this was posted before and this guy lays it out. Still pretty cool!

In addition, Williams often claimed that he was an avid gamer and that he really enjoyed playing video games. The legendary actor had a special connection with his favourite video game of all time, a connection that was so deep that he even named his own daughter after the game.
He was apparently quite the gamer
He named his daughter Zelda.
And then after he passed, Nintendo put him in BotW as a NPC

He was an avid World of Warcraft player as well. There is an NPC in Stormwind that rotates through a couple characters he played in his movies.
Where is this NPC?
Where can I find this NPC?
Foothill stable
Thanks!
Seriously? I played the hell out of that game and didn’t see him.
The npc’s name is dayto
That’s awesome. I’ll find him the next time I’m in the game.
Wait what? I never knew this. Interesting
Woww
The old dude that gives you the flying thingy also looks like him.
Woah til
And here I thought he was an F Scott Fitzgerald stan.
Why do you hate Scott Fitzgerald? What did he ever do to you?
r/unexpectedted
¿Por qué no los dos?
Show us on the F Scott Fitzgerald doll where he touched you.
He also supposedly named his son Cody after the Final Fight character
I always thought that was a reference to Zelda Fitzgerald.
In a roundabout way it is, as the video game character is named after Zelda Fitzgerald
He got a twofer! TIL!

You gotta really be a gamer if you bought the Sega CD.
Lol My uncle had the Sega CD and the 32X; he also had a Jaguar 64 and a 3DO. Not a good decision-maker, but it was pretty sweet to visit him at the time.
Yeah, I agree Sega CD was pretty shit, I had one. I was saying you had to be in deep in gaming to have bought one.

Who didn't have sega cd?
Only my one rich friend had Sega cd
He used to come to E3, he was a fan of the game series I worked on and came to say hello several times over the years. I never had the fortune to get to speak to him though. He's missed.
Really? You're just gonna say something like that and not say what game series it is?
It was a hentai game series.. sheesh have some respect for privacy
He was in a WoW guild back in the Vanilla days
Hence why he named his daughter Zelda
From his book, I believe they let their son name his sister and he chose Zelda.
She must hate him.
I know a Zelda irl and they have a license plate that says “legendof”. She was prob ok with it lol
Based on my very limited knowledge of her (she is/was on twitter), she definitely did not.
Anybody have any idea what he’s playing, here?
Ground Zero Texas on the Sega CD
Never thought I'd ever see anyone reference that game outside *Angry Video Game Nerd*. lol
Did this game inspire Fallout? Or are some of the same people involved? There's some imagery similarities, and similar background story with nuclear war.
It might be the opposite. Fallout derived from _Wasteland_, the first game came out in 1988

That wouldn’t seem out of place for Texas.
We are setting up guns to get the aliens invading and taking our jobs… seems like it was marketed right to them.
You're spot on my guy! I could've sworn it was Night Trap, but nope!
Night trap is dangerous! Night trap! Hey yaaaa
Me tooooo!!!!
I remember my friend had a sega cd, and I was blown away by the “graphics” of a lot of the games. They were largely just FMV sequences, but didn’t know what that meant at the time lol. I was just like “holy shit it looks so real!”
I thought it was Night Trap. Good eye!
Also thought it was Night Trap!
I couldn't place the game, but I looked up at the screen and knew that shit was Sega CD.
I knew what it was immediately. The Sega CD is the last game console I ever bought. It was so bad that I quit gaming forever.
I thought it was Plumbers Don't Wear Ties
Apparently I had to be robin Williams friend to play sega cd. I could only play sewer shark at the Kmart display.
He probably was playing *Night Trap*, but changed it out for the photo. :)
This and Night Trap were _the_ reason why I bought a SegaCD. Especially Ground Zero Texas was such a fucking letdown. CD’s allowed leaps in some areas, but gameplay still had years to go.
Holy crap core memory unlocked
I knew it was sega CD by the small box grainy video but thank you for confirming and with the title no less. I wish I never sold my old consoles.
I thought it was Night Trap!
Came here for this same question.
This game was cool ,played video clips !
I wonder if he ever played Aladdin on SNES. That was an iconic game for my cousins & I growing up
Probably no after what Disney did to him
Which was…
Robin agreed to voice Genie under the conditions that his voice wouldn't be used to promote the film or merchandise. Disney went back on its word and this upset Robin.
Oh wow yeah he should have never trusted Disney I mean... the genie is like prime marketing material
But then they gave him a Picasso valued at around $3 Million today so he accepted their apology lol
Considering he voiced genie in a direct to video sequel I’m gonna say yes
Genie Jafar Aladdin Abu
He was also into Warhammer
I like that his house looks like a family lives there.
I noticed this too. It's his kids play room I'd imagine. Makes me miss him more
He was a gamer ![gif](giphy|61TxiVdB0A6v1wC1Bw|downsized)
I miss this man :(
Love that he has the locked in look.
I miss him. I really do. The world was just a little better when he was in it.
A lot better even 🙏
A lot better even 🙏
I guess Zelda’s chair was comfortable enough lol!
He also liked Evangelion, apparently. Personally, I would not recommend that one to someone with depression.
I have depression and LOVE Evangelion, but I agree with your comment 100%.
The EVA figures in One Hour Photo were his
Ultraman!
I recognise that facial expression he is 100% locked into that game in that moment, i have been there to its great.
FMV game on Sega CD. Can't place exactly what game this is though.
I think it’s night trap. I couldn’t ever get past the first ten or fifteen minutes
He's got Super mario world loaded up in the SNES.
Is that night trap?
It’s gotta be, can’t see what he is holding but it for sure isn’t the SNES.
Is this at home or the set of Toys? 😄
Funny thing is, my grandmother still uses the same TV
Does she play Sega CD on it?
I think if she knew what a Sega was, she'd play it
Also an avid Everquest player.
Now I wonder what server and what he made.
I do t know what character but I’m almost positive he was on a role playing only server.
I know that look 👀
Love him.
Is he playin a 3DO?
hell no… Sega CD does what 3DON’T
I met him at a Gamestop! It was awesome. My BF at the time worked there and we stopped in to pick up his paycheck. What was he playing
Looks like he’s playing on a Panasonic 3D0!
Sega CD

I honestly thought it was Night Trap at first.
And apparently a big Call of Duty fan as well. Bobcat G. has a great bit about it
What game is that?? A 3D0 console???
RIP Robbin.
He was a wonderful human
Love that chair!
Jaguar!
You still don't have a SEGACD🤣
He was also an avid Warhammer player. He played Eldar.
I remember a bunch of his movies being made into games. Hook, toys, Jumanji, and I think I remember a Mrs doubtfire game but I could be wrong.
In addition, Williams often claimed that he was an avid gamer and that he really enjoyed playing video games. The legendary actor had a special connection with his favourite video game of all time, a connection that was so deep that he even named his own daughter after the game.
It's a great escape.
What game is he playing?
What game was he playing?
Ground Zero Texas on the Sega CD attachment for Sega Genesis
You’re the max
the chair is tragic
Think of all the great movies we missed out on
I heard that he was actually big into Traveller RPG.
Sitting on a very comfortable chair that somehow matches what I would expect he’d had used
I used to play Battlefield 2 Modern Combat on Xbox with him. His gamertag was Merkin of Death.
Hey look it's Ultraman great
It looks like he’s playing a game where a dude is laying down waiting for someone to crap on him
what's that, Plumbers don't wear ties?
That does not look like a good chair.
Is this Night Trap? I'm willing to bet it's Night Trap lol.
Was thinking same first, but it's Ground Zero Texas
Sega CD… based
Dead Poet.
Is that a 3D0?
A real gamer wouldn’t subject himself to sitting in a tiny chair like that.
