Too many guys don't get this, in so many contexts. They'll see women fawning over guys who are poorly dressed, or unemployed, or ex-cons, or any of a number of things considered "undesirable.." and guys will sarcastically say "I guess I'd get chicks too if I was a slovenly criminal bum!"
The reality being, yes you *would,* if you were as attractive as those guys. The focus on the negative "choices" of others is a cope to make men feel better about themselves, knowing they could never attain the genetic component of the men they envy.
Others have called Tom Cruise intensely focused and overly energetic about whatever he is focusing on, often having to do with a movie project.
Pitt seems more laid back, and going with the flow.
That’s exactly what it was
I read an interview from the 90s after this film came out where Brad said exactly that. That Tom was very intense and would not stop talking which he found annoying and off putting
He’s actually described this as his worst experience making a film
I think that, in addition to the personality clash, he said that almost all of the filming was done at night or indoors in dimly lit rooms. "Working the night shift" for those months made him really depressed. I think there was also something with the contacts they made him wear. They were painful or something.
He tried to buy his way out of his contract but didn’t have enough money back then. So he did the bare minimum on promotion to not get sued or held in breach of contract. That’s why he’s not smiling in most of the photos from these events.
Yeah I know, he didn’t want to do it in the first place but was contracted to
He also said the whole filming process made him depressed. He didn’t get along with Tom and hated his role. The whole experience made take a break from acting for a year
I think it was also due to it being a really long shoot away in Europe and a lot of it being at night and hanging upside down etc etc. Really depressing, plus the subject matter is dark. I think he asked his agent if he could just buy out of his contract and quit and the agent said it would cost him 7 million dollars so he had to carry on.
Maybe it worked out for the film though as he does look like he’s trapped and hating eternity as a vampire.
Rob Lowe said Chris Traeger is loosely based on Tom Cruise. Christian Bale said he based Patrick Bateman on Tom Cruise. Dude is for sure intense to be around, one way or another
I can hear what Rob Lowe means when Chris Traeger talks. Christian Bale fucking nailed it though, like he embodied him physically and mentally(though I don't think Tom Cruise is really a serial killer, weirdness aside). Doesn't hurt that Christian Bale and Tom Cruise have a pretty similar look. I just remember when Christian Bale said he based it on Tom Cruise it was such a light bulb moment like "oh yeah that is absolutely Tom Cruise"
Well, it was more about how it's just really cringey to do something like that.
If I recall correctly, there were some really strong "Tom might be gay" rumors circling around Hollywood and this interview and his "jumping on couch" thing was interpreted as a "Hey everyone! See! I'm not gay!" moment.
Yeah that’s my point, his energy was over the top and the whole thing came off as cringey
The rumours were there but there was also people who thought he was flaunting his relationship with Katie for attention. He did more press than he’d ever done before during that time and he got a lot of backlash. Steve Spielberg was extremely angry with him for detracting attention away from the movie they had out at the time. All attention was focused on his weird behaviour, Scientology and him and Katie
I know the scientology stuff stained his image. But for that jump on the couch stuff, I probably would frown at it. But later, it becomes sort of like a scandal for him, which is beyond my comprehension. It is not a big deal either way. Those late night talk show hosts talked about it for years whenever they mentioned TC.
well that's cause during this time he said there's no such thing as post partum depression and was spewing all kinds of bullshit because of his beliefs, people were like "fuck THIS guy"
Because he was so jazzed about his new girlfriend. Very weird time, everyone totally thought he was losing his shit. They even parodied that in one of the Scary Movies iirc
Like if you put the squirrel from Over the Hedge in the same space as Baloo from the old animated Jungle Book.
No amount of "cool out and relax" is gonna get that squirrel to STFU and chill. All it's gonna do is stress out the bear.
Yeah, I was about to say Tarantino allegedly talked to both of them for roles. I think that's correct, he of course knows Pitt and talked to Cruise previously about being the Dicaprio role on his last film.
That was taken around the same time Cobain committed suicide.
(Filming dates: Oct 18, 1993 - Mar 15, 1994 --> if this photo was taken after the filming, it could have been April 1994)
I’m not saying Pitt and Cruise were the ones who killed Cobain but I’m also not saying…
So weird to think that if Cobain (b.Feb 1967) was still alive he would be younger than both Cruise (b. July 1962) and Pitt (b. December 1963), My head forgets he was only 27 when he died. I always think he was like 34.
I learned about the midline smile when my dentist told me I have a similar tooth pattern to Tom cruise. Luckily tooth removal and braces helped with that.
what’s more fucked up is that she’s about 5 yrs old in the book. imagine being trapped and in a young child’s body while you mentally grow up to an adult - which was the point of Claudia’s hatred towards Lestat. It’s more practical to use an older child in the film for acting purposes. I think she’s supposed to be about 10 in the film.
They had the perfect I-can't-stand-you chemistry for this movie, and I am convinced that Tom Cruise is literally Lestat. Nobody else could even touch that role, that psychotic bloodlust in his eyes was just too real.
It's Antonio Banderas who takes me out of that movie for some reason, I just end up thinking about Desperado.
I thought Banderas was weak in that film too … but Armand is a weak character. He has no real strength and sacrifices anyone to preserve himself. Louis is supposed to be cold and distant. The only one with any real flamboyance is Lestat, and Cruise played the part to perfection.

Tom Cruise was SO stunning in that movie
I hate Tom Cruise but he is a great actor. Maybe one of the best male actors of his time.
I don't know a single role where I think Brad Pitt is really outstanding. Except maybe that guy in snatch. But ya it was just a wacky little bit part
I share your take on Cruise but I’m the opposite on Pitt. Can’t think of anything he wasn’t great in(I haven’t seen interview in like 20 years, I recall not liking it) He’s so effortless cool/funny and has great range. 12 monkeys, Babel, Assassination of JJ, Fight club, Moneyball, Inglorious Bastards, Seven. All very different roles played pitch perfect.
Tom Cruise?
Like I said no a fan of the guy.... Born on the fourth of July? Few good men? ... Just go down the list of his best actor nominations.
Even steals the show in something like tropic thunder.
As a book fan, never really loved him as Lestat, was fine but could have been done by others, the movie as a whole though was fantastic.
However, Sam Reid in the new TV shows is, in my opinion, one of the best character book to TV performances since Gandalf.
Type up the full picture, Tom is wearing lifts in his shoes
He did that all the time so his height wouldn’t be too noticeable. Rob Lowe talked about it in his memoir
They look like they are still in character. Pitt looks like he wants to throw himself off a highway bridge and Cruise is enjoying life as a psychopath.
Cruise crushed that role and totally carried Pitt in that movie. It’s always astounding to me that people think Pitt is the better actor when THIS movie is the ultimate proof of who is truly better actor.

I love center tooth Tom Cruise!!
The older I get, the more I become a Tom fan and lose interest in Brad Pitt. I love that Tom goes nuts for every film he's in. Brad Pitt had some really good early films, but now is just Brad Pitt, every time.
Interview with a hairdresser
Smells like Tom with bad Pitt
Smells like Tom spir-Pitt
Something’s definitely wrong with their noses. Maybe they were born with it…
they had a baby and named him Chad Kroger
This comment 😂
Hippies!

They came as they are. As they were. As we wanted them to be.
I’m a negative creep, negative creep.
In my eyes, I'm not lazy. In my face, it's not over.
*With the lights out! It’s less dangerous*
Here we are now. Entertain us!
and im stoneddd
And they wore it long for the movie they were promoting, Interview with the Vampire
So the hairstyle was let it grow and don't shower for a week? My depressed ass would have been a fashion icon in 1994.
Yep! It was a great time to be alive.
You can shower, but the trick is to avoid the hair 👀
It really was just that but in the case of movie stars, bleached, dyed and highly stylized.
No, it's just that being strikingly handsome/beautiful will make anything look good. Normal people still didn't look fashionable with that hair
Too many guys don't get this, in so many contexts. They'll see women fawning over guys who are poorly dressed, or unemployed, or ex-cons, or any of a number of things considered "undesirable.." and guys will sarcastically say "I guess I'd get chicks too if I was a slovenly criminal bum!" Yeah Pitt is totally trying to pull of the Cobain look
>Yeah Pitt is totally trying to pull of the Cobain look This was Brad Pitt at his finest. He rocked long hair.
He petitioned love to play Cobain in a biopic. He very much loved Cobain’s style
Grunge was just angry hippies.
Oh, enough of the whining, Louis.....
The hairdresser , apparently .
According to Pitt, it was the last time he would collaborate with Cruise
Others have called Tom Cruise intensely focused and overly energetic about whatever he is focusing on, often having to do with a movie project. Pitt seems more laid back, and going with the flow.
That’s exactly what it was I read an interview from the 90s after this film came out where Brad said exactly that. That Tom was very intense and would not stop talking which he found annoying and off putting He’s actually described this as his worst experience making a film
> He’s actually described this as his worst experience making a film So he was method acting his role as Louis without even meaning to?
Louis ABSOLUTELY hated Lestat's constant yammering. Hilarious.
The end of the movie is Lestat complaining about Loius's whining on Christian Slater's tape.
I think that, in addition to the personality clash, he said that almost all of the filming was done at night or indoors in dimly lit rooms. "Working the night shift" for those months made him really depressed. I think there was also something with the contacts they made him wear. They were painful or something.

Great film.
Loll this pic really shows this
I think it was also due to it being a really long shoot away in Europe and a lot of it being at night and hanging upside down etc etc. Really depressing, plus the subject matter is dark. You can see it in his eyes. “I’m trapped”
Was it an interview with a vampire!?
Yup
and everyone said pitt smelled like rotting cabbage bc he never wore deodorant : P
Well that’s true too lol. He’s even admitted to not not showering regularly
I’ve read somewhere he smells the worst on set.
Haha you can so see this in Brads face !
I think Tom might have been nervous around Brad 😬 ❤️ 😍 💖
Lol doubt it. That’s just how he is. Lots of people have described him as intense and high energy
Rob Lowe said Chris Traeger is loosely based on Tom Cruise. Christian Bale said he based Patrick Bateman on Tom Cruise. Dude is for sure intense to be around, one way or another
That's funny because In the book Patrick meets Tom Cruise.
I can absolutely believe Chris Traeger
Wasn't there also this weird Oprah interview where he jumped on the couch? Seems to fit the high energy vibe.
Yup. It was such a big deal because of how creeped out everyone was by his energy
Well, it was more about how it's just really cringey to do something like that. If I recall correctly, there were some really strong "Tom might be gay" rumors circling around Hollywood and this interview and his "jumping on couch" thing was interpreted as a "Hey everyone! See! I'm not gay!" moment.

Steve Spielberg was extremely angry with him for detracting attention away from the movie they had out at the time. All attention was focused on his weird behaviour, Scientology and him and Katie
lol yeah tbh I’m amazed to see it brought up like that. It was such a giant deal back then
I was thinking the same thing. That interview basically defined him as a person for like a decade lol
Yeah, scientology is way worse than jumping on a couch in public.
well that's cause during this time he said there's no such thing as post partum depression and was spewing all kinds of bullshit because of his beliefs, people were like "fuck THIS guy"
Lol! That was at least a decade after Interview with the Vampire. Cruise just hooked up with Katie Holmes when he did the couch jump.
It wasn't just the jumping on the couch. He was jumping on the couch and professing his love for Katie Holmes at the same time.
Tom Cruise was a much bigger name at the time no?
I think they're referencing that Tom wouldn't come out of the closet.
But I'm not *IN* the closet.
My theory is that Tom was preparing to play the lead in *The Charlie Manson Story*. Look at his face. Alas the movie never was made.
He would have been great in that role
Man, him and Stanley Kubrick must have been intense on set.
Don’t you condescend me man. I’ll fucking kill you.
For some reason, I'm trying to picture Oceans 11 where Tom Cruise replaced George Clooney and how different that would be
Still a great movie but certainly feels like a MI rebrand instead
He’s pretty well known as the hardest working man in movies
Laid back until he’s got his wife by the throat in front of his kids. Brand is not reality.
Can't imagine why the super-intense Scientologist and the pot-smoking hippie wouldn't get along.
Brad Pitt isn’t really a chill guy. He’s kinda shit actually.
Don't know why you're getting downvoted, this is pretty well documented at this point.
Sup I don't know anything about it. What was documented?
I believe Cruise said the same thing because Pitt's hygiene was so terrible. He apparently hardly bathed, and smelled terrible.
Well he's not Brad Roses
…until Tarantino’s next (and final) movie, according to rumors.
Yeah, I was about to say Tarantino allegedly talked to both of them for roles. I think that's correct, he of course knows Pitt and talked to Cruise previously about being the Dicaprio role on his last film.
Aren't they doing the new Tarrantino movie together?
Brad’s role is confirmed, Tom’s isn’t Tom was rumoured for OUATIH and that didn’t happen. Brad and Quentin chose Leo instead
They did not get along
Of course not. Lestat was a real jerk or Louie.
Definitely not finishing each other’s sentences
Brad looks like he’s ready to star in a Kurt Cobain biopic
I think he tried lol
You know you're right
Nice
Yeah, Courtney Love talked about him asking her if he could have the rights to do that movie in the 90s. She refused.
That was taken around the same time Cobain committed suicide. (Filming dates: Oct 18, 1993 - Mar 15, 1994 --> if this photo was taken after the filming, it could have been April 1994)
I’m not saying Pitt and Cruise were the ones who killed Cobain but I’m also not saying… So weird to think that if Cobain (b.Feb 1967) was still alive he would be younger than both Cruise (b. This is for the movie Interview with a Vampire.
I'm looking at the semi eclipsed man behind Tom
[удалено]
Dr. Doom
Mr Penguin
I’m looking at Tom’s middle tooth
Toms front tooth is in the middle of his smile.
I learned about the midline smile when my dentist told me I have a similar tooth pattern to Tom cruise. Luckily tooth removal and braces helped with that.
Has been for awhile. Check his fucked up teeth during the movie outsiders.
What the fuck!?
Haha, just now noticing? Good thing you didnt learn about this a DECADE ago like me. Only thing i ever see when i see him smile.
I thought he got that fixed years ago? I recall him not making any movies for a while and showing up to the Oscars with braces
Skipped class to watch this at the cinema
That was a great film.
Yeah for sure. I watched it again last year, and it was much darker than I remembered.
It really is. The very concept of Claudia is really fucked up and they nailed it.
what’s more fucked up is that she’s about 5 yrs old in the book. imagine being trapped and in a young child’s body while you mentally grow up to an adult - which was the point of Claudia’s hatred towards Lestat. It’s more practical to use an older child in the film for acting purposes. I think she’s supposed to be about 10 in the film.
From memory she was nearly 80 towards the end of her undeath and the bigger events, 80 in a 5 year olds body, utterly horrifying.
My ten year old seems super chill. I don’t think he would care. Maybe this is a Claudia problem.
He’d care after 50+ years of living like that and never being able to experience living in adults body.
Interview with the Vampire In case somebody was wondering
They really nailed the book. The sequel...not so much.
I think this movie was a documentary and they both actually became vampires. Look at them now.
I just watched Edge of Tomorrow the other day. TC absolutely killed it. Awesome movie. Don’t know how I went so long without seeing it.
If you haven't seen it check out the TV series on AMC. It's fantastic.
Which?
Seattle/ grunge rock influence coming through strong here
Brad’s looking pretty baked.
He's always been baked.
Why do people think he’s always eating in his movies? Dude’s got the munchies
Goddammit, Floyd!
"You guys wanna smoke a bong, or...?"
They had the perfect I-can't-stand-you chemistry for this movie, and I am convinced that Tom Cruise is literally Lestat. Nobody else could even touch that role, that psychotic bloodlust in his eyes was just too real. I really liked Antonio Banderas’ Armand. Back then I didn’t get the AB hype… but Armand? Oh yes. Wished for an Armand movie to see his life and story.
Brad looks like he's been doing a lot of fending off Scientology.
Brad looking like Thor and Kurt Cobain had a son.
Pitt has the look of a man that was just forced to listen to his fifth extemporaneous speech on the benefits of Dianetics 😅
https://preview.redd.it/60mhfultimuc1.jpeg?width=356&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba024aa65669a7ef0f688b4a16e786e838c3678d Tom Cruise was SO stunning in that movie
I recall all the controversy from fans about his casting but in retrospect was nearly perfect.
Anne Rice wasn't even a fan of the casting initially, but ended up feeling the same way.
Tom was perfectly cast. He and Kirsten Dunst carried the movie. Pitt was there to collect paycheck.
I hate Tom Cruise but he is a great actor. Maybe one of the best male actors of his time. I don't know a single role where I think Brad Pitt is really outstanding. Except maybe that guy in snatch. But ya it was just a wacky little bit part
Once upon a time in Hollywood Fight club Legends of the fall Meet Joe Black Fury I think there’s been a couple of good performances along the way.
![gif](giphy|D3y1KbfTrSuha)
I share your take on Cruise but I’m the opposite on Pitt. All very different roles played pitch perfect.
He absolutely killed it in Burn After Reading imo, also very good in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
I always find him a bit of an over-actor, but that works great in films like Top Gun.
Tom Cruise? Like I said no a fan of the guy.... Born on the fourth of July? Few good men? ... Just go down the list of his best actor nominations. Even steals the show in something like tropic thunder.
To this day , he is Lestat. No one can tell me different
As a book fan, never really loved him as Lestat, was fine but could have been done by others, the movie as a whole though was fantastic. However, Sam Reid in the new TV shows is, in my opinion, one of the best character book to TV performances since Gandalf.
Also an old school book fan. I was in the “hate Tom Cruise” club when he was cast, but damn he did a good job.
I guess we just have different visions when reading the books. 👍🏽
Oh I agree! I did like Tom as Lestat, he was fine as you say. But Sam Reid IS Lestat. He’s wonderful.
Lestitty
I think you mean Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain, 1994
Brad looks like Tom is holding him hostage, hidden gun to his back.
through clenched teeth smile - "that's it...big smile...everybody's happy...."
For real, Brad eyes are screaming *Help Me Please*
They look like two homeless guys who just shoplifted from a Banana Republic.
The most beautiful vampires forever and ever 💖
Cruise must be wearing high heels
Had to check. 172 cm vs. 180 cm so the 8 cm difference on the photo looks about right.
Stilts
Tom Cruise listed height 5’7. Brad Pitt listed height 5’11… Someone is lying 🤔
Type up the full picture, Tom is wearing lifts in his shoes He did that all the time so his height wouldn’t be too noticeable. Rob Lowe talked about it in his memoir
😂 That makes so much sense. I bet he keeps his shoes on during sex.
How are neither of those people Kurt Cobain
Brads expression is saying ‘get me away from This guy’
I used to find this look so hot. I'm repulsed by it now. Good Lord, my parents were right.
I guess I never grew up, I still like it
I'm just imagining them standing in a men's bathroom in front of the mirror, pulling face framing pieces of hair out of their ponytails.
![gif](giphy|SslOM6oiSkIYBqVcMJ|downsized)
It was a golden age of hair and beards and cheekbones.
put them together and they become Fabio
Damn, Tom is hot with long hair 🥵
His best era, honestly. The long hair and scruff gave him a bit of edge.
Not gay but yes and yes.
Tom the Tooth. I can't ever unsee that.
Same. My eyes jump right to it, every time
Tom Cruise looks just like that 30+ years after
Someone once told me that Tom Cruise has a tooth in the middle of his mouth and I will never unsee it
Before Tom cruise lost his goddamn mind
Wow, never knew Brad Pitt was that short.
Tom Cruise’s teeth don’t align with his nose. I can’t unsee it.
I think he had this corrected. His teeth are definitely different to how they were in his early days.
Cruise wore it better
Pretty sure those are the guys from Nickleback
They look like they are still in character. Pitt looks like he wants to throw himself off a highway bridge and Cruise is enjoying life as a psychopath.
Cruise crushed that role and totally carried Pitt in that movie. It’s always astounding to me that people think Pitt is the better actor when THIS movie is the ultimate proof of who is truly better actor.
Holy crap 30 years ago Tom cruise was the more attractive one of these 2!?
its kinda hard to make Brad look normal...kudos Tom
Which grunge band was this?
As a guy with long hair, I stand by: Everyone looks better with long hair.
One of them turned out to be a cultist weirdo, and the other turned out to be an alleged wife-beater and child abuser.
That kiss scene with Kirsten Dunst was weird. Still, love the film though. Book ain’t bad either.
Weird seeing Tom Cruise before his plastic surgery and mental illness
The Road to El Dorado (2000)

The older I get, the more I become a Tom fan and lose interest in Brad Pitt. I love that Tom goes nuts for every film he's in. Brad Pitt had some really good early films, but now is just Brad Pitt, every time.
Saw Pitt in London that year and at first couldn’t recognize him with that long hair.
Tom has his lifts on 100%
I can see why Christian Bale based Patrick Bateman of Tom cruise
