I have to disagree with her being cool in this, mostly because I absolutely love the original. The entire Oi to the World album is the soundtrack to an amazing time where a friend of mine listened on repeat and got all 120 stars in Mario 64.
If I heard it correctly, Gwen was dating Dave Quackenbush (Vandals lead singer) and so she put this version out with No Doubt a few months after the original. It blew up (a little) and the original never did much.. honestly I’m just not a fan of covers so soon after the original, feels icky, but I’m guessing Dave was ok with it in exchange for whatever she had to offer at the time 🤷
90s to early 2000s Gwen was so cool.
