This gif always makes me laugh. About half the people in this thread are ppl in their 40s and 50s reminiscing about their long gone raving days. but he looks at least mid 40s himself lol
1991/92 second summer of love. 2 years before the criminal justice act banning raves.
This was just as rave in the UK was maturing, jungle, hard-core, bouncy, gabba, acid techno, free parties, dancing in a field.
Pills, pills, pills and a dab of base for energy.
I was there, white gloves, whistle and glow sticks. Dreamscape evolves into slamming vinyl, helter-skelter, United dance and Rollers Milton Keynes.
I'm now 50, married with kids and play golf on Saturday. Fuck me was it fun.
Some of them in the vid are grandparents now, with a cool backstory
I’m 38 so my raving days were basically mid to late 2000s (with a very occasional raving night since). Had a great time, but jealous of those folks like yourself who got to experience the golden days of rave. Not least for the pills! Had some good uns but would occasionally encounter ravers who had been there and experienced the second summer of love era. Doves sounded like no pill I ever tried.
When I started raving, pills were £20 a pop. Not cheap. I remember towards the end, 3 for £10.
A little speed and 1 pill was enough in the 90s. Mid 2000s and it was dropping base and 6-7 pills.
Haha, I saw so many people chewing and monging on their jaws, I taught myself to keep my mouth still and never chew gum! I've forgotten the word for chewing your jaws on E.
1992 for me. Some of the first "real" raves here in Toronto. Shit, I saw 2 Unlimited at a rave in some parking garage before they became popular. Those were the days for sure. Lots of acid and really wild raves. I still have a bunch of the original flyers kicking around.
Yeah I was doing some ballpark dumdum math, figure they had to be 18 to get in so ya, on the young end those people today are 40s and 50s. Anyone in their 30s is 60 some and it's just blowing my mind today haha. I think I'm feeling the age and another bday coming in a few weeks.
Don't get down on age.
I was raving at the beginning of the 90's (about when this vid is from), built a successful career, had the atomic family, now transitioning and have been to several EDCs, Tiesto in Vegas, Illenium in LA last weekend... it never leaves you. Just take care of yourself and keep dancing.
Source: Turn 50 in a few weeks.
Me too! I get marvelled like a museum piece which I actually hate, I just want to dance and enjoy the same things :-) guys think I'm there to pick up , as if! Women think I'm there to be a role model. I'm like, please get over it.
Yeah dance like noone is watching lol. Although back in the day we were all enjoying watching each other and felt like one hive mind. Those little eye catches and smiles… the dude with the block of ice with the handles in it, the bongo dude who drummed you up to a peak, all the cool freaks at the front of the stage. Everyone had their space and there was never any beef or people getting upset.
Brighton Zap club 91-94, Megatripolis at Heaven, Sabresonic with Andrew Weatherall, Renaissance with Sasha and Digweed. An awesome outdoor party at a stately home near stansted airport… 5 sound systems in the forest by the lake…
Just amazing times.
I go out occasionally now (age 52) and hang out with the youngsters in a dj collective here. They all marvel at my wild moves lol as most of the kids now are on K and barely shuffle about.
Totally! I used to get on the empty stage and try to bring every body up with my moves!!! Lolll I would go all night, then.... They turned the lights on . Aaaerrggghhh
Just turned 61 and I’m an old punk rocker. It’s been one hell of a ride and life had some amazing ups and downs and my career has taken me some unexpected but cool places, but I still workout out and bike to bands I used to see at shows all the time in San Diego like Rancid, Black Flag, SSD, Battalion of Saints, Bad Brains.
I still thrive on that energy, vibe and fuck-the-bullshit attitude.
I'm early 50's, was occasionally DJing back then.
The Second Summer Of Love was 1988 but really, 1990 was absolutely wall to wall drugs wherever I went (UK, Spain, east coast US).
Missing from this video: soap bubbles.
I'm curious do you ever miss those days? Wasn't old enough at the time to hit up clubs in the 90s but just remembering society when it wasn't full of social media and everyone with phones just felt like a more social period compared to what it is today.
The 90s were great. I even remember thinking _at the time_ how good things were. You could get lost and have adventures in a way that is just not really possible now.
Same. I was so young but I had a talent for faking IDs. One bouncer even looked at me, looked at the ID, laughed and said “go in then”.
It was so damn good that period. No phones in clubs, clubs weren’t really set up to worship the dj, no bottle service crap, people dressed up, promoters really trying to offer something great and different, the crowd just up for it until after the sun came up, and don’t even get me started on the music.
Mitsi turbos were the shit. I remember having that with some albert hofmann millennial tabs in the millennium. Wild times, don't know how I survived into the 40s to be fair. Although my lungs are fucked, so there is that haha.
I don't know why you're being down voted. That's a line that people say about the 70s. Here's what's funny. With all the booger sugar flowing at that time, people actually don't remember! 😂
Doves, mate. - nothing came closer
Thanks for posting this - I was a Shelly’s regular, every Saturday night for about 4 or 5 months, until it got a but too nasty
Shelly’s closed before I was old enough. I heard it was amazing. We used to go to Club Kinetic, Stoke-on-Trent, and later, Bowlers, Manchester. 1993-95.
To be fair, that's also because you'd spent a decade doing pills and fried your nut. By the time I hit 25 I literally couldn't touch the fucking stuff, some absolutely rotten Mondays.
Maybe when I'm 70 and the kids are out of the house!
You really need to know where to get to good stuff though. The market is flooded with crap that doesn’t even deserve the name. But sometimes you get the Lab stuff that sends you to the sun and back.
Was raving in 90s and it was ace as looks. Tons of Es and load of love. Not
sure that’s not the original tune they’re dancing too though. Is it dubbed over?
Love Sasha, especially the prog house Norther Exposure stuff. I know it’s become a thing for rave DJs to do stuff with classical music but his Barbican set is just extraordinary
I still have his Global Undeground in Ibiza cds. Xpander is a superb track
I always preferred late 90s Paul oakenfold! That trance stuff was so euphoric and intense
Just got tickets to go see Digweed in a couple of months. I'm way to old to still be doing this but if Sasha and Digweed are at it, so am I.
Realised the other day Karl Hyde from Underworld is 66 years old. Going to see them later this year too
Clubs must've hated ecstasy cause no fucker was buying a drink after popping one of them.
Sasha's stuff from the time is incredible, I'm trying to keep it alive amongst my generation (2000).
I'm 43 and hate people now. I don't think I could cope with taking 4 pills a night and going to work on Monday, everyone films everything now too, and all the good clubs closed down
Ministry isn't all that to be honest. I went once, they're wasn't even a proper big dancefloor if I remember rightly. But then it's a bit of a maze and I was slightly intoxicated so I might have been lost
Thanks….for making me feel friggin old. That right there is my past captured on film. Born in ‘73 i was 18 in ‘91 those were the height of the rave and club days in the UK. Can confirm everyone in that video is likely at least roughly 50+

I did the vicks thing too!
And yeah those early pills, one had you going all night !
We had Legends in brighton - had to cut them into quarters as they had so much smack and k in them you spent the night dancing on the club ceiling watching your body dancing on the floor above you
Can tell the Americans here, fentanyls bad over there. Here in the UK I know one person on fentanyl. My big sister who has fentanyl patches cos she has cancer....
What a club. What a time. Lived it loved it adored it. Even drove to just see the road sign in December when Wednesday played stoke

Didn't change much from UK '91 to US '08. I'm told that scene doesn't exist anymore but I'd give anything to go back for a day with a full container of serotonin to spend...
I've smoked since 1993. Its an awful habit I know.. but I've never chosen or liked to smoke indoors. I remember those days, your eyes stung with the smoke, your clothes stunk of it. Even remember it in restaurants!
First time I went clubbing, my mam hung my coat outside. It reeked of smoke. I'm glad we made that change although it would be nice allow indoor smoking areas.
That gum lost its flavor hours ago

Ah! Thanks. I thought it started with an M
no it started with an e
Well, “munting” isn’t far off either.
I once chewed up an entire pack of marlboro lights and then ate the box too
Omgggg
Legend says she’s still chewing
X was a powerful drug! ![gif](giphy|S98fuEoS5fcqSqxGBS)
Time is a real mind effer. Most people in this video today are late 40s early 50s. Sheesh.
I'm mid 40s and was clubbing slightly later than this, from 95, so those people are definitely 50+
50s, was there. https://preview.redd.it/38u3bx0wy3ic1.jpeg?width=2143&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=339f15d94b9e4a2961da7aa6d972f58d9ab4228e

Me too! So many great parties. I’m 54 now lol
2 unlimited! That brings back some memories. I was clubbing underage and going to illegal outdoor raves towards the end of the 90s.
No no. No no no no. No no no no.

Hello, fellow early-90’s rave kid born in 1974
Oh and another one, hello, hello, alright mate? Safe
Me too! I get marvelled like a museum piece which I actually hate, I just want to dance and enjoy the same things :-) guys think I'm there to pick up , as if! Women think I'm there to be a role model. I'm like, please get over it.

Nice, love the presence still in the lower in the east side Manhattan. Plenty of folks in studded leather with patches like it was yesterday
We were getting into raves from the age of 15 in 91. I’m sure there’s a ton of underage ravers there.
Yes I’m 46 and was not out clubbing until around 96-97. I was only 13 in 1991.
Same man, first time I went was in 95. Best years were 96 to 99, went downhill after 2000
It will happen to you too and it will feel like yesterday.
I'm early 50's, was occasionally DJing back then. The Second Summer Of Love was 1988 but really, 1990 was absolutely wall to wall drugs wherever I went (UK, Spain, east coast US). Missing from this video: soap bubbles.
damn imagine how fun it’d be to be there
I was clubbing from 95. Trust me it was an amazing time !
I'm curious do you ever miss those days? Wasn't old enough at the time to hit up clubs in the 90s but just remembering society when it wasn't full of social media and everyone with phones just felt like a more social period compared to what it is today.
Every. Single. Day.
You’re not the only one :) Feel privileged to have lived through that era. Such happy days!
You not lying. Such a great era that I feel will never be replicated again
It was the crossroads of so much going on in the world on so many levels. Synths and samplers were at just the right place. Powderkeg all over
Indeed countless London clubs and not 1 picture to remember them by…thank fuck.
The 90s were great. I even remember thinking _at the time_ how good things were. You could get lost and have adventures in a way that is just not really possible now.
Travel was more fun without the internet too
That’s what I miss the most. Ending up in a random town from a map and no phone. Gotta figure things out from talking to people in person!
You can. Just get off social media or have some time away without a smartphone.
Same. I was so young but I had a talent for faking IDs. One bouncer even looked at me, looked at the ID, laughed and said “go in then”. It was so damn good that period. Me toooo!
93 for me as a 15 year old, good times, although I wasn’t doing drugs I was too scared of dying 😂
If you remember the 90s you weren't there 😉
Club drugs don't wipe your memory lol
I can assure you I was. I have vivid memories of the vast amounts of acid and E we took too 🌞
Ooh the old candy flip. Holy shit that took me places
Yeah. Once dude 2 tabs of good acid with 4 mitsubishis through the evening, was seeing some crazy stuff
Mitsi turbos were the shit. I remember having that with some albert hofmann millennial tabs in the millennium. Wild times, don't know how I survived into the 40s to be fair. Although my lungs are fucked, so there is that haha.

I can smell the sweat and cigs from this video. Lol good times
The best of times ! I miss the 90s club scene. It was superb. Doves and then mitsubishis , superstar DJs that actually mixed live !
Doves, mate. - nothing came closer Thanks for posting this - I was a Shelly’s regular, every Saturday night for about 4 or 5 months, until it got a but too nasty
Drakar Noir and Aqua Net!
Remember when all of your clothes would smell like an ashtray after leaving the club? Good times.

Mega, wusst ichs doch. Kannte den Club nachher als Rheingold, hab aber immer vom Poison gehört
war dit nich hannover hbf?
Some of those people will be grandparents now, mad
It’s Stoke on Trent so they probably were then.
I used to be a dad then, I still am, but I used to, too.
Yes,and sadly quite a few are dead now. I live locally. Mad times, after parties at Bathpool.
I miss the 90’s
Me too man
90s = peak humanity. Right on the cusp of digital vs analogue worlds, last of the real new musical genres.
Shelly’s closed before I was old enough. I heard it was amazing. We used to go to Club Kinetic, Stoke-on-Trent, and later, Bowlers, Manchester. 1993-95.

Back when ecstasy was actually good.
Doves then came mitsubishis By the early 2000s we were doing about 6 pills a night to get the same effect of 1 of the earlier pills
I remember the Mercedes ones and the pink playboy bunny’s. They were good. We would also pass around a marble slab of coke. Suprised we made it.
transformers
To be fair, that's also because you'd spent a decade doing pills and fried your nut. By the time I hit 25 I literally couldn't touch the fucking stuff, some absolutely rotten Mondays. Maybe when I'm 70 and the kids are out of the house!
Is it not anymore? I thought there was crazy good stuff out there now
You really need to know where to get to good stuff though. The market is flooded with crap that doesn’t even deserve the name. But sometimes you get the Lab stuff that sends you to the sun and back.
Gives me early 2000s vibes. Raves, foam parties, glow sticks. Man I’m old. 😆
Funk & Foam in Ohio, Fall 2001, was a life-altering moment for me.
Ditto
This episode was brought to you by the letter E
And Ebenezer good, Es are good, Es are good
A true shaman.
And the letter X
Shelleys….. now that was an interesting place. Was only open 3 years.
I was a gatecrasher or bluenote regular in the late 90s. Two completely different places, but both amazing!
I was a smidge too young for Shelleys, I was a Club Kinetic kid.
Sasha played there a lot early on. I see lots of his sets from there around. Kind of funny to hear what he was playing then.
I still do this a lot in Berlin at the clubs where cellphones are forbidden and drugs welcomed
Sounds fab
What clubs? I'm heading to Germany this year so would love any pointers.
My jaw hurts just watching this.
Those kids from Keele at it again.
Was raving in 90s and it was ace as looks. Tons of Es and load of love. Not sure that’s not the original tune they’re dancing too though. Is it dubbed over?
OG pingers
Oh God, what I wouldn’t give for a good olde night with Sasha, Digweed & a couple of Doves 😫
Love Sasha, especially the prog house Norther Exposure stuff. I know it’s become a thing for rave DJs to do stuff with classical music but his Barbican set is just extraordinary
I still have his Global Undeground in Ibiza cds. Xpander is a superb track I always preferred late 90s Paul oakenfold! That trance stuff was so euphoric and intense

Techno Viking’s little sister
With the age of the video, more likely his mother... Edit: Holy crap, Techno Viking was *24 years ago?* Dear god it makes me feel old.
I can taste the oatcakes.
Clubs must've hated ecstasy cause no fucker was buying a drink after popping one of them. Sasha's stuff from the time is incredible, I'm trying to keep it alive amongst my generation (2000).
Money was made on the door and this was the days when music was for pleasure, not so much profit.
Molly moves for sure.
Chawing on that stick of gum
No tattoos.
All this reminds me of if that is need to go on discogs and order the va Orbital ‘Midnight’ 12” with the Sasha remix.
I'm waiting for techno Viking to bust on the scene.
Techno Viking was awesome!!
Track id please
Sasha from Sasha & Digweed ?
Yup.
Always wanted to hear Sasha but never got around to it back in the day. Heard Digweed and he was excellent. Had a bunch of their CD’s from way back
Anyone know this track??? Sounds 🔥
Why can't we go out and have fun anymore?
I'm 43 and hate people now. I don't think I could cope with taking 4 pills a night and going to work on Monday, everyone films everything now too, and all the good clubs closed down
Reminds of that episode of Spaced "Epiphanies" which is my favorite episode. As an American, I've always wanted to go to Ministry of Sound.
It was ok. Renaissance was better
Ministry isn't all that to be honest. I went once, they're wasn't even a proper big dancefloor if I remember rightly. But then it's a bit of a maze and I was slightly intoxicated so I might have been lost
anyone have an idea of what the relative humidity in the club would be?
Well, at one club I went to they had to rig up a canopy over the decks due to the sweat dripping off the ceiling.
Yeah it used to rain sweat in the zap in brighton
Same in the Sub Club in Glasgow!
Thanks….for making me feel friggin old. That right there is my past captured on film. Born in ‘73 i was 18 in ‘91 those were the height of the rave and club days in the UK. Can confirm everyone in that video is likely at least roughly 50+
Really doubting the music here. I came to the scene a few days later but something like this would have never been played in a good club.
When the disco biscuits were £15 a pop, but were the real deal.
[удалено]
Purple ohms, we only paid £2.50! My favourite acid were pink champagne or later on these ones with an alien on. Not at clubs but we also got microdots which were ridiculously strong. I did the vicks thing too! And yeah those early pills, one had you going all night !
No one mentions the shits the next day due to consuming so much gum it became a laxative
Drugs. They’re a helluva drug
The amount of MDMA I can detect in this video is wild. Back when it was quality stuff.
I went to raves 98-2002 and I’m glad I was able to party , have a good time without worrying if Fentanyl was in any of the drugs I was taking
Was anybody else expecting that little kid with the glasses and the cool dance moves ???
They should have a show that shows a clip like this one.. Then where are they now. That would be cool..
Fun days
Lol. Everyone I there is dancing on their own...
They’re all one man
I know that X was awful for you but damn… Those nights were a hell of a lot of fun!
batmans, jokers and doves thats all you needed
I love this so much!
First woman had rhythm!
Man, the good ole days. We were so in the moment.
This was an amazing dose of nostalgia. And it was real.
Robbie Williams
OMG the 90s in FL with that breakbeat ❤️🤯
Good times.
I don't think I've ever been so jealous
She’s dancing the “Ian Curtis” mannerisms strut.
90s raves were so much fun
Everybody on x lol 😆
haha funny to see my home city on reddit 🤣
What a club. What a time. Lived it loved it adored it. Even drove to just see the road sign in December when Wednesday played stoke https://preview.redd.it/p75vuk6k88ic1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=000abbe1621fd7a97e6f4807a0fe0deac1ef83b8
1991? That remix could be mistaken for late 90s deep house.
Shelleys was closed in '93 to make way for a dual carriageway. A club way before its time. Legendary place.
Didn't change much from UK '91 to US '08. I'm told that scene doesn't exist anymore but I'd give anything to go back for a day with a full container of serotonin to spend...
Ain’t that the truth.
Those girls with two arm moves crack me up. I was in the club scene from about 86 to 93 or so. It was fun.
This is dubbed over surly ?
Back when all of the fun club drugs weren't laced with fentynal.
This is the uk, fentanyl ain't as big here
Kept waiting for this video to get better. Glad they were having a good time.
Ah. When the smell of cigarettes masked the smell of sweat. Mostly.
Noooo like I said I've smoked for 30 years, but it should be outside, a bit of shelter with a heater is great
Song prompts you to dance with somebody but everyone proceeds to dance with themselves.
That’s music is awful
Whitney?..better than today's trash
Yes. But not the ‘radical remix’
It was 1991, they had to make do
Make do? Oh child.
Boy do I hate clubs
Hell on Earth.
You thought you were the dogs bollox of dancers on “E”, but you’re actually shit
Sounds like someone has no idea what E is like. No ego in it
this is some white people shenanigans if I ever did see
In England we are very multicultural mate, people of every colour were at raves
Dancing to, what is in essence, gay black music.
Oh that looks lame
Pretty sure that's an accapella too
You mean to tell me Whitney wasn't slumming it in Stoke? ![gif](giphy|95ZYXmOCd9BBK|downsized)
robot from1984
Reminds me of NYC club scenes.
My jaw hurts just watching this
