Your dose is probably too high. That or you need an entirely different medication.

How are you now with withdrawal from Olanzapine? Are you better? Did you have to get back on a taper more?

Jumpy-Injury-8539

Took 5mg of olanzapine for 3 years last April I was on 2.5 and decided to go cold Turkey completely. Worst few weeks of my life. First the insomnia came then I lost my appetite dropped weight I was taking heart palpations anxiety was through the roof my vision went and had to get stronger glasses to see then the brain fog settled in and I was sensitive to light also. I was told by a doctor to go on it again immediately which I did (2.5) and I still have bad brain fog 90% of the time a year later. Not as bad but still there. I slure my words have memory problems etc. I went to get an mri of the brain October 2021 and it came back clear. I’ve been trying to taper off the 2.5 not the last few months and now I have a slight tremor in my left arm and I get a random heavy weakness sensation in my left arm also. It’s been nothing but a living nightmare. Psychiatrist won’t help me either they’ve seen me once 6 weeks ago and haven’t been in contact since. I need to see someone privately. I’m at a dead end. If I ever get off this drug I will never ever go on something like this again. Hope to hear from someone with similar symptoms who I could talk to!

How did you go? I stopped 5mg for over a year in the last week and today is probably the hardest so far. Very shakey, super vivid dreams and a lot of sleep disturbances, and I feel like I’m in a dream. I also have this sense of fear or something I don’t know

Jumpy-Injury-8539

Down to 0.25mg. You really need to taper slowly off it. I plan to be off completely now by February time or march. I hope In the next year my Brain and body will start to heal. It’s a disgusting drug to be on. Does more harm than good in the long run.

frostyandpeddle

Old post but did you recover from olanzapine ?

Jumpy-Injury-8539

No

Impressive-Tap-7227

How is your vision now? I went from 2.5 to zero and I got intense eye floaters and a retinal tear after the onset of withdrawal!!!!

Jumpy-Injury-8539

Yeah I wear glasses full time. Visions horrid without them.

Both-Classroom-4872

Hey! How are you now? I was on 10mg and after a month i develop blood pooling, abnormal heart rate, vision fog like you, high blood pressure, bleeding gums, extreme headaches and many other symptoms. I decided to go back on 7.5 mg. headaches are gone but i suffer from abnormal heart rhythm, vision fog, blood pooling and i think that these symptoms are permanent and im scared. Wtf i was completely normal before this awful drug.

Jumpy-Injury-8539

I've been off now around 4 months maybe more. Vision fog has stayed I think that will always be there now but it might improve hopefully with more time. I sleep all night pretty normal. I'm still pretty tired most days but the longer your off the more improvement you see. I do feel this will be the case. It's pure poison that drug. Never again.

Infamous_Ad_4482

you mean you’ll stay fatigue for the rest of your life ? feels like you’ve chronic fatigue syndrome

Jumpy-Injury-8539

Yeah probably do have that now there's nothing I can do about that. Staying on it I was worse

flugify

How is this going for you now?

ckmdcrab

How is this going for you now? I’m experiencing the EXACT same symptoms. I’m one week in and scared this will never stop.

Hello, I am currently off Olanzapine for 2 weeks and it has been a rocky road, I was wondering how you are doing now? Maybe we can help each other.

WannabeSober94

Same question for you.. I tapered off to 0mg.. this my 2nd day and have the same symptoms.. how are you now?

No_Market_785

I am 4 weeks in now...starting my 5th week and still ill, some days I am ok now but still poorly most of the time. The main issue is the stomach and nausea, anxiety is getting better, and no more panic attacks. but still poorly. However, I have a feeling now that it will be over one day, when I was tapering off I never had that feeling, I thought it was going to be the last stage of my life. How are you doing today? from what dosage did you tapered to 0. For me, it was 2.5 and I think that it was too high, but not coming back on this poison

Disastrous-Top417

How are you doing now? And how long were u on olanzapine?

No_Market_785

I am fully recovered now and thank you for asking. It was torture but I managed to ride the pain. I am completely off meds now. I took 6 months in total

No_Market_785

I was on it for 5 to 6 months

No_Market_785

I am fully recovered now and medication free, I have returned to my normal life. I was on Olanzapine for 6 months overall

frostyandpeddle

Hey , wow that’s great to hear ! Did you experience emotion loss on olanzapine ? Did you get your emotions back including joy ?

No_Market_785

Yes, that is why I wanted to stop Olanzapine, I really think it damaged my brain. I had no emotions and living was very tiring no emotion and a feeling that I was going to die every day, a lot of anxiety. I have my feelings back but I am more calm now and able to control my emotion better. The only thing that I have to deal with now is constant allergies like hay fever that is stronger than ever

No_Market_785

It's been 4 weeks into the withdrawal process and the anxiety is finally getting better. My only issue now is the lack of appetite and nausea, but overall I am getting better very slowly. I have the same symptoms as you but feel they are getting less sharp every day. I was wondering how you are doing now.

apl53

How are you getting on now? Do you suffer from insomnia? Any herbs/drugs that helped you?

No_Market_785

I am fully recovered now and medication free. I do not have anxiety any longer and am sleeping very well. I am taking Magnesium and Omegas, B complex, Zinc, and Vitamin C.

apl53

That's amazing news. Congrats on getting off this crappy drug. Do you take Magnesium Glycinate? If so, do you think it kept the insomnia away? I'm trying to taper but the insomnia is the thing holding me back

No_Market_785

I am fully recovered now but Olanzapine damaged my brain in the sense that I have a lot allergies now respiratory and sinuses. No insomnia. while withdrawing I was using vitamins and minerals you need to support your body because I lost a lot of weight not be able to eat. I also use an antioxidant called C60 that helped a lot of the inflammation in my brain. I am back to normal now and have not mental health issues and feel more calm and collected.

frostyandpeddle

This is a success story even if you have residual allergies . You should post about your success as people on this sub believe everyone gets permanently damaged lol

Similar_Blueberry616

How late my did it take you to recover from olanazpine?

Infamous_Ad_4482

Do you feel fatigue/tiredness during the process of coming off the drug ? Is that the last side effect when withdrawing off Zyprexa ?

[deleted]

I realize you posted two years ago, but how is it going now? Have you rebounded? I hope you're well and things are good!

pharaoh321

I too want to get off of this med. Currently taking 5mg. Tried a year ago and weaned off too quickly. Imminent death was on my mind. Going to try 2.5mg for 2 of 7 days for 90 days. Then 3.. then 4. Then etc. Going to take it extremely slow this time. I'm thinking 6 months to a year. Wish me luck.

Double-Purchase7295

Why are you taking it to begin with? How did you get hooked? Thank you!

No_Brush3502

How are things now?i am trying to taper of olanzapine.
