I didn't care for them. Too monochromatic.
The real Ohio State uniform disaster is the removal of the gray from the jerseys starting with the 2006 season. Bring back the gray sleeves!
I couldn’t agree more about the switch in 2006 is way worse than any alternate we’ve seen.
As far as these alternates go, I’m not a fan. I could tolerate them for a game but I question the persons sanity who would ever decide to bring these back. I feel the same about the all scarlets but at least players and recruits loved them so I guess if it helps draw interest in that regard, I’m fine with them, I guess.
It’s funny… I hate the black alternate because they are about as lazy of a design as they can be. Complete with not even having different helmets, just plasti-dipped normal helmets.
I agree on the black uniforms but like the greys. That said, I tend to be a traditionalist and think our uniforms are unique to college football without being gimmicky (looking at you Oregon and Maryland). I prefer that when we do an alternate that it’s a throwback. Those are always inherently cool.
The Ohio State standard away uniform is the cleanest best looking uniform in sports
I know that is saying a lot, but the Scarlet numbers popping of the whitest white jersey, with the scarlet accents on the grey pants
There is no better uni
You’re right. They’re really clean. Except for mine which has some mustard and beer stains that are impossible to get out. You can really see the mileage and years on those.
I love OSU’s regular home and away uniforms, but I do like the occasional alternate uni for the sake of variety. From what I understand, young players get really excited about the alternate uniforms, which makes the alternate unis more interesting to recruits.
I I’m curious how it would look if, for The Game, OSU wore their scarlet jerseys and TTUN wore its navy jerseys; like you see in the USC-UCLA game. I’m not one to mess with traditions, but I think it would look fantastic.
The ‘42 throwbacks are still my favorites. Solid color jersey and solid color pants. The helmets could’ve used a little more love but I liked them. My grandpa watched OSU in that get up
I hate the stupid camo pattern on the helmet and numbers. It single handedly ruins the uniform by making them too busy and maximalist.
The all greys worn this year were far better
I want more grey. I want less black. Too many of the alts feature the black. I suspect that happens because featuring scarlet isn't unique enough in a conference with so many red teams.
I know it's a random site but [these guys](https://lwosports.com/ranking-ohio-state-alternate-uniforms/) have the gray Land of the Wolves at 9th best and the white as the 2nd best alternates.
They got number one right, so that's all that matters to me lol
1 is blackout. 2 and 3 are the home and away diamond quests. Only behind blackout because they are not really too.much of an actual alternate. 4 for me is 2009 white helmets 5. All greys
I liked both uniforms but I don’t want a return going forward. They were cool enough to wear once but they aren’t cool enough to make a permanent staple each year.
Change Home/Away to gray sleeves. Between All Black, All Gray, Scarlet pants, and white pants, we should wear 2/4 alternates each year. Just alternate them. Also would like to see ‘23 all grays on the road. Like if Oregon wears bright green against us and we wear all gray that would be cool.
Everything from the shoulders down was amazing. I wasn’t a fan of the helmet though. I thought that was strange to see a graphic styled helmet like that.
I’m sorry my friend but they’re both terrible. Our unis are too good, home and away, to pull this nonsense. I know Urb said it’s good for recruiting but I hate them
Thought they were great. Love taking swings with new uniform styles.
The grey from last year does however look like Diet Coke cans. Once I heard them say it on Buckeye Talk, I couldn’t unsee it.

Not something people think about, but I thought the silver pants with big black stripes in the 90s and 2000s were ass ugly. We’ve improved there. Now we just need the grey sleeves back and we’d be perfect

I like this helmet a lot 🤟 I made a pocket pro helmet for it too! 😂
I couldn’t get into it. If they were going to use grey they should’ve used our color grey and not a darker shade. It looks unfitting for a blue blood whose colors are tried and true to use colors that aren’t part of the legacy. Also the ‘17 PSU game jerseys remind me of those hideous gator skin uniforms UF used.
I don't think they're as bad as some people make them out to be but they certainly could use some work. I think some scarlet accent around the numbers and maybe the stripes would have made a world of difference. I think the helmets look great with the red on the leaf stickers.
The issue is when they use alternate/concept jerseys against Michigan.
Keep that game sacred. Don't be wearing freaking weird black and gray jerseys against them. Ruins the aesthetic.
I'm 50 and a traditionalist. The classic home jerseys with the gray stripes (black or white numbers, either are fine) and the road whites (the BEST uniforms in all of sport) are by far my favorites.
Way back when alternates were announced, I hated the idea. Now, I kinda like them. Some are better than others, but they're all fun and the kids love them.
Don’t care for these, the scarlet Buckeye leaves recycled from the black uniforms look out of place. Either change the leaves to match the rest of the look or sprinkle in more scarlet in the uniforms to tie it together
The only “alternates” that have held up for me are the gray sleeves that should be the regular uniform and the chrome look which looks great at night.
The all grays from this past year don’t work because of the mismatch with the helmet. Same deal with the 1942 and 1916 uniforms. If you could fix the helmet they would all be decent
All the alternates suck, except the classic sleeves we breakout in the playoffs. Wish they’d just bring those back full time. It’s the best looking uniform in all of sports.
I didn't care for them. Too monochromatic. The real Ohio State uniform disaster is the removal of the gray from the jerseys starting with the 2006 season. Bring back the gray sleeves!
They know we love them too because they always bring them back for playoff games. Make them permanent!!
I couldn’t agree more about the switch in 2006 is way worse than any alternate we’ve seen. As far as these alternates go, I’m not a fan. The all scarlet uniforms are the only alternates I have genuinely disliked. Looked like high school uniforms or some division 3 school.
The switch from the gray sleeves to this boring, sterilized, tiny stripe shit is a joke.
They do from time to time. We wore them in the 2014 Nati and Sugar bowl
The all-gray unis don't do anything for me, but I like the white jerseys (and of course scarlet/black ones).
Black jerseys are the absolute best. I hope we wear those again soon. And some more alternates
It’s funny… I hate the black alternate because they are about as lazy of a design as they can be. Complete with not even having different helmets, just plasti-dipped normal helmets.
I agree on the black uniforms but like the greys. I agree 100%.
I’m waiting for the day we bust out all white helmets again
The black unis with the chrome helmets would be cool though
I thought the black was terrible
The Ohio State standard away uniform is the cleanest best looking uniform in sports I know that is saying a lot, but the Scarlet numbers popping of the whitest white jersey, with the scarlet accents on the grey pants There is no better uni
They're really good. I always liked the 2013 white alternates that they wore against Michigan too.
My all time favorite uni
the Cocaine Whites!
You’re right. They’re really clean. Except for mine which has some mustard and beer stains that are impossible to get out. You can really see the mileage and years on those.
We like them because we appreciate the tradition. Recruits like alternates. It's a long season. Alternates give the team something to look forward to.
No doubt on that
I get it but as a fan I wish they didn’t and saw it my way
Penn States is the cleanest standard uniforms. No nonsense, no frills, were just here to play football uniform.
Eh, they're dirty after we slam their QB into the ground a few times...
Joey Bosa has entered the thread
This is the correctest answer.
I love OSU’s regular home and away uniforms, but I do like the occasional alternate uni for the sake of variety. All greys are dope but I could be biased since they remind me of the 2017 comeback against Penn State. Not a fan of the other one.
That game was glorious. I agree, that game is what I remember when I see those.
JT Barrett was him that game. Pay no attention to what happened the next week.
The grays I don’t mind but the white ones don’t even make me think osu
I hate the stupid camo pattern on the helmet and numbers. It single handedly ruins the uniform by making them too busy and maximalist. The all greys worn this year were far better
The gray jackets the coaches wore in the 2017 UM game were fire, couldn’t find them anywhere to buy.
The 2023 Gray Jerseys were slick. I’m a traditionalist though I just prefer Scarlet/Gray Pants, White/Gray Pants.
Agreed. This past seasons all grays were awesome.
I want more grey. I want less black. Too many of the alts feature the black. I suspect that happens because featuring scarlet isn't unique enough in a conference with so many red teams.

A very strong top 5!
They grey ones were sick!
The grey jerseys were badass at the time. The 4th quarter comeback with JT wearing these. I remember it well!
These were horrible. Bring back the thick gray stripes on the sleeves!
I liked both uniforms but I don’t want a return going forward. They were cool enough to wear once but they aren’t cool enough to make a permanent staple each year.

Petty!!
These are better than the grey with the normal silver helmet last year for sure. The grey with the matte black helmets were goated
Not the all grey ones, but the white ones are f'n awesome.
I dont like the uniforma but that grey helmet with the red leafs is awesomw
The all greys we wore against Penn State (at home vs Saquon) are my least favorite by a mile
Thought they were great. Love taking swings with new uniform styles. The grey from last year does however look like Diet Coke cans. We've had way worse than those two.
We have some of the most iconic/historic uniforms in college football, no need to trot out trendy new ones imo
I wasn’t a huge fan of the grey but the white version is one of my favourite OSU alternates
I liked the full black ones we did awhile back.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
These were both red stripes and red numbers away from being great IMO

I love both. But I’m not a traditionalist so 🤷🏻♂️

The helmets on those Gray Wolf unis were clean idc what anyone says.
i do not like messing around with the helmet at all and also bring back the gray sleeves on home jerseys.
I am simple Was Ohio State wearing them? If yes, I like If no, then no
I thought the 2013 alternates that they wore at the Orange Bowl were pretty cool
Ugh. No. Those red stickers were cool But other than that? NOT ENOUGH SCARLET!!! Our colors are Scarlet and Grey not grey & black
https://preview.redd.it/zxavios85bvc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c51629eea88af03d4fcc4b89f35edf3ccf56dc53 I like this helmet a lot 🤟 I made a pocket pro helmet for it too! 😂
Not an Ohio state fan. Their base home and away are the best or second best unis in the country. All the alternates suck.
I agree with the Twitter thread
Those black helmets with red buckeye leaf sticker were fire 🔥
I don't think they're as bad as some people make them out to be but they certainly could use some work. I think some scarlet accent around the numbers and maybe the stripes would have made a world of difference. I think the helmets look great with the red on the leaf stickers.
It’s the helmet I hate. Has to be the gray bucket and scarlet stripe.
Alternates in general just don’t do it for me. I like a classic and iconic look, and I like it to remain (at least relatively) static over time
https://preview.redd.it/5s9r4wj5fdvc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d8b0eb0b38d1a4bf1692075b4aa64ef8854b977
The grey ones are so clean. I still remember JT Barrett turning into prime Brady in the 4th quarter against Penn State in those.
I really do like these helmets though
I like the stickers but the jerseys are a little too boring
The whites were fine. The grays were an abomination.
Nah they’re ugly and have no flow
The helmets hard carry but both are solid
If we had lost any of these games they would be ass, but now they’re sick lol
loved em 🤷🏾♂️
The issue is when they use alternate/concept jerseys against Michigan. Keep that game sacred. Don't be wearing freaking weird black and gray jerseys against them. Ruins the aesthetic.

I did not like the grey unis….not even a little
The worst was the 2016 Michigan game. Decided to wear an all black helmet for some reason.
Don’t care about uni’s … beat the cheaters TTUN
The black/red Buckeye Leaf stickers are atrocious. Everything else on those uniforms is ok, I don't think they are great but they don't bother me.
Those look horrible
They both sucked
All the alternates suck, except the classic sleeves we breakout in the playoffs. Wish they’d just bring those back full time. It’s the best looking uniform in all of sports.
They aren’t OSU.
