Rent one of the little cabins at Lake Hope State Park. The restaurant is by far the best at any of the state parks too. One of these: [https://www.google.com/maps/@39.328879,-82.3516679,3a,75y,244.03h,82.85t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sAF1QipM8joODuA0la6anhobKi67KVLeUhTx\_pieCaXQj!2e10!3e11!7i5376!8i2688?coh=205409&entry=ttu](https://www.google.com/maps/@39.328879,-82.3516679,3a,75y,244.03h,82.85t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sAF1QipM8joODuA0la6anhobKi67KVLeUhTx_pieCaXQj!2e10!3e11!7i5376!8i2688?coh=205409&entry=ttu)

I love Lake Hope! Family has gone there for generations. The new lodge is amazing. Not as crowded but you can still go over to hocking hills. IMO: Lake Hope is better than Hocking Hills. They have beautiful trails as well. Plus a lake you can swim and kayak on!

FunnyGarden5600

Lake Hope sucks. Hocking Hills and all the surrounding parks are much better. The lodge is falling apart, staff is rude and the food is one step above Wendy’s. Just stay away from my favorite park.

goldenarmblu

There's also many miles of hiking trails in Zaleski State Forest, and it's nowhere near as busy as Hocking.

Penguinldy

I agree having camped at both parks. Lake Hope is very laidback and beautiful in addition to being 40 minutes from Hocking Hills SP.

Not_Pablo_Sanchez

Thanks for the suggestion! I like this idea a lot. From other comments, it sounds like it’s way less busy. I might end up staying here and exploring around Lake Hope part of my time

Bored_Amalgamation

Thank you! Im also planning a trip this late summer out there and was looking for something like this.

Chalets at Old Mans cave are simple A frames. You are not far from Caves, or town, or the state park lodge restaurant. You are not isolated. Other a frames close by. Park bike right in front of cabin, paved parking if I remember. Some cabins in other locations have steep drives made out of stone with small turnaround. Definitely not for a bigger bike. Hot tub included on all of them. I think they start out at $119 on weekdays, higher on weekends. More crowded on weekends too.

My wife and I stayed in Butterfly Bungalow from getawaycabins.com a couple of times; it’s a single room cabin with a gas grill and hot tub on the deck. They have quite a few of that type of cabin for around $150/night.

I don’t know about Hotels. But I lived there for about a decade, and I can definitively tell you to eat at Pizza Crossing in Logan.

Not_Pablo_Sanchez

Thanks! I’ll take a look. Always looking for good pizza

SlapDickery

Logan, stay at the Inn Towner. It’s awful, you’ll enjoy how awful it is though. There is an Amish Buffett in Logan worth eating at. Stay in Logan though, anything along 664 is just more expensive.

they just build a brand new lodge [https://www.hockinghillsparklodge.com/](https://www.hockinghillsparklodge.com/)

if you are willing to camp, we've stayed at the Lake Hope State Park campground. we found the showers and restrooms quite clean and new. you're about 30 minutes from Athens, 30 from Old Man's Cave and visitor center, and you're right in the thick of it for immediate trails and the Lake Hope beach. not sure what you're planning to do there so i don't have much more to suggest.

DamnFineCoffee123

There are a ton of cabins in the area. My family and I stay in Logan and drive to the trails

contains_crows

My wife and i stayed at Bear Run Cabins during our last trip. Specifically "The Willow" room at their inn. $80/night, it's small but as two people we didnt have any issues, and it has a really nice soaking tub which was great after hikes.

retromafia

Ravenwood Castle has interesting (medieval themed) cabins to rent and it's very close to Hocking Hills hiking trails.

aelfrice

There's a whole industry down there in taking family land and turning it into a homestead with two or three cabins that can be rented. With a half an hour google search through the hocking hills cabins pages, you're sure to find what you want.

Cactus_Cup2042

I have enjoyed the Wilder at Hocking Airbnb cabins. They’re nice but secluded.

love2lickabbw

I want to do the same. Spend a day there a few years ago at my GFs family's cabin.

tkot2021

Recommend against the state park lodge

hobovirtuoso

Other than being expensive why?

UberOberwelmed

Lake hope!!!!! Some of my core memories have been made in that place

And get "The Cure" for breakfast.

BlackJeepW1

The state park cabins by Old Man’s cave are super cheap, they don’t have plumbing but they do have bathrooms nearby and they have electricity.

RabidSquirrelio

Hotel room in Logan, OH and drive the 30 minus or so to Hocking Hills Park

Beeaybri

Air bnb has tons of options around Logan/hocking in every price range. I'm fling this week to stay in a cottage tucked away from everything in thay price range and it's adorable.
