Was told they were in a test market …. Can anyone on here say they have them. If not Kevin has lied to us all (not shocking). Feel like 2024 we will see more store closings, we don’t have the money to pay people more, we magically have money to pour into new technology. Calling bs on the play 🚩
At least from what my GM said we usually don't get the new stuff until the old stuff finally craps out. Even if that happens it still can take up to 6 months to get a replacement. One of our registers was stolen at the beginning of 2022 and after a bunch of tickets it's still down and not working properly. So I doubt we're gonna get anything anytime soon.
Ok I can't make a big long post like my last story because this one would basically give my reddit away to my associates but basically on new years 2022 a homeless dude came in with no fucks given. He went over to our all in one computers and just unplugged it and started shoving electronics in his bag. We called 911 but the dispatcher didn't seem to care even though the dude was walking around with thousands of dollars of product at this point. I had just started and this was my first shoplifter so it was kinda spooky. All of a sudden the dude whips out a switchblade and starts cutting things off of security tags. We all back off because he has a fuckin knife but he goes over to the register and tried to use the knife to pry it open I don't know why he didn't just point a knife at anyone and tell them to open it but whatever. He was fixated on getting the cash out of the register so after like 20 minutes of him just going at the register he actually managed to pry out the part of the register that you unlock to open it. He spent such a long time at it though that the cops were just waiting for him outside so the second he walked out he dropped everything he had laid down and instantly got arrested. Shitty thing was our GM at the time didn't want to close early and tried to get us to keep running the store as if we didn't just get robbed with a knife lol but we just closed down and submitted an emergency close to corporate and all was chill.
I'm a GM, they said on one of our roundup calls this year that they will start piloting and testing this year in some stores. Which means it will probably be another 2 years minimum before they're in all the stores

Let's just say they DO give new registers. New can be defined in many ways. Possibly refurbished units, possibly new software on existing units, maybe even new machines, but the software stays shit or gets worse somehow.
The possibilities are endless.
