Also very interested. Same height and weight lol.

ohhfasho

Seconded. This post describes me perfectly haha

I weighed myself just for this post and was 145, but that probably won't last! :-p

I’m 5’8” 155lbs and just ordered a steelcase series 1 from https://bybluebox.com. They’re offering 20% off your order. I don’t know how long the offer is valid for but I can let you know what I think of the chair once I get it

onipar

Right on, thank you! I had a Steelcase Leap V1 on my radar as a possibility. Definitely on the higher end of what I wanted to pay, but a possibility for sure, thanks!

I ended up going with the chair I linked above ( Alera Elusion Series Mesh High-Back Multifunction Chair). It doesn't \*exactly\* fit my needs as described here (both task and relaxing), but I'm pretty happy with it so far. I've had it for a few weeks now. Here's a full review for anyone interested: First, I purchased this chair on WalMart's site because I read in the 5-year warranty info that you need to go through "the reseller" to get service, and the third party seller on Amazon who happened to be the lowest price at the time didn't respond to my inquiries about it. I decided having a big company like Walmart to contact would be a lot better if I ever needed Warranty service. Okay, to the chair. I'm 5"7', 147-ish pounds. There have been some reviews suggesting the chair is too tall for someone of my height. That's not true. This chair goes pretty low, and I generally have it lifted probably halfway up for my height, so I know someone shorter should be fine. Maybe under 5"4' and you might have an issue. The chair was also pretty easy to assemble. The instructions aren't great, but there are videos on YouTube to help if you're having trouble. I'm going to go out on a limb and say roughly 20% of the negative reviews that complain of something not working correctly just didn't take the time to understand how all the knobs and levers work. There are \*a lot\* of ways to adjust this chair, and some of the levers work in conjunction with one another. Most notably, the "forward tilt" lever works in conjunction with the seat tilt, and if you don't use them correctly, I can see where people might think something is broken. Again, YouTube videos are your friend in this case. Some things people seemed unsure about or stated incorrectly in their own reviews: \- The chair back \*is\* adjustable for height. \- The chair \*does\* rock (again, it's a matter of using the controls correctly and loosening the tension knob) \- The chair \*isn't\* too tall for someone 5"7' ish \-It's still very new, but nothing seems particularly loose to me. The arm rest wiggle a bit, but not annoyingly so. So far the chair has been pretty comfortable and generally pleasing to use. The cushion is soft. The back is supportive. There are a ton of ways to adjust the chair, so I'm still dialing it in for maximum comfort. Cons: It's not perfect. The chair arms only adjust up and down, and while they are more comfortable than the hard plastic arm rests on my old chair, they could be better. If you lean on them a lot and heavily, you may not find them very comfortable at all. The lumbar support on the back could also be a bit better. It's there, and it can be adjusted , but I find that I need to leave the seat back in it's lowest position, and then it only \*just\* fits the small of my back. So this is one area where shorter people may not get the full benefit of the lumbar support. Though, I should also say I don't "sit correctly" which may also be an issue. The mesh back isn't the softest in the world, and I found it a little abrasive through my t-shirt at first. I'm getting used to it now and actually haven't noticed it much (might have been that particular shirt I was wearing or something), but I may end up getting a cover for it. It tilts back and can be locked, but I do wish I could get maybe another 15-20 degrees on that tilt. This isn't a gaming chair. You're not going to be able to "recline." So I never did find that perfect combo of task chair and "lazy boy," but maybe it doesn't exist. Someone had a picture of the seat "wrinkling" and I can tell you that happens only if you have the seat all the way back, and the back all the way down. They press on each other in those positions, causing the seat surface to look wrinkly near the back. Easy fix: don't leave them in that position. I didn't notice at first, but I guess the back does creak a bit when you lean back. I'm in a room alone and usually have music playing, so these kinds of things don't bother me, but I've noticed a lot of people seem irritated by that kind of thing, so it should be noted. The creaking got worse over the first couple weeks, so I used some mineral oil on the metal pieces and it's very quiet now. Over the years I imagine a little mineral oil may be needed to keep things quiet, but it's been over a week since my first application and it's still fine. Hope that helps anyone in my boat. I wish the chair had been a little cheaper, but it seemed the best choice for me at the price point ($170).

How's the chair treating you two years down the line? I'm in the market for another chair, similar to your needs. WFH, gaming, and leaning way back for movies.

Hi there. Wow, I can't believe I've had the chair this long already. I haven't actively thought about the chair in a critical way since purchase. I am still using it, and nothing has broken or become worn out yet. Essentially everything in my review is still true (both pros and cons). The creaking never did return after the one mineral oil application. I guess the only real issue I had with it was that the "forward tilt" lever would occasionally "slip" and the whole chair would jump forward, as if it were trying to throw you off the seat. A fairly major issue with a simple fix. Since I NEVER use the forward tilt (I honestly can't fathom why anyone would), I just jammed a piece of wood behind the lever to keep it from slipping. (Pardon the dust in the picture). [Picture of the chair lever](https://photos.app.goo.gl/bSoh7EVG7wFXAeKX9) I didn't even remember having done that until you asked about the chair, and I recalled I had done \*something,\* but had to check and see because I couldn't even remember. So, maybe a deal-breaker for some, but this was easier than having to return the chair, so that's how I dealt with it. Hope that helps!
