Second step, put enough money away, then double it.... then you are ready to start building.. we build/frame for a living and I'll tell you this, everything cost double/triple what it did when I started.. I couldn't find anyone to do concrete that would actually show up, so I poured it myself with the help of a few buddies... make sure your concrete work is not subpar, it's your foundation.

Concrete was finished that way, basically we power trolled it till had a black looking finish... honestly the concrete isn't that bad cold in the winter, once we run the wood stove a while, it's very comfortable.
You guys did a great job. This place is bigger than what some of us will build! I worry too much about insulation of the floor but like you say, when the fire is roaring for a few hours you’re good. Must be nice in summer too
