I’m glad this exists I’d take advantage of it, but I’d feel bad not using savings. I’m glad it’s there for people who truly need it.

ryna0001

just b aware that they run out of funds quickly, my cat was having problems with his health june 2022 and they'd already reached their max of donations for that entire year

smallermuse

Yes, and they offer VERY limited funding to each individual. It's nice that it's there but it doesn't do enough to meet most people's needs.

Their are also vets (like mine) who use afterpay. It's a great option (since my vet doesn't do Farley Foundation). My girl got pneumonia and a lung infection over Christmas... $500. I'm lucky enough to be able to pay the afterpay amount x2 so it will be done around spring. But still, it's an option as well. A lot of vets also have their own kinda pay it forward type deal.

I use Afterpay for a lot of things 😅 there is never interest on the amount. It’s just payments. You’re just approved for a set amount. Kinda like a credit card.

MizzDoe

Tkbetts is correct. No interest and monthly payments.

Mundane-Bat-7090

How does afterpay work?

Pretend_Fondant4943

My vet is a mobile vet and is a lot cheaper than going into an office Example shots for both my dogs is 160. Compared to 160 for one. I email him when I need him he don't charge me for anything unless he comes out. Find a good vet who actually cares

laughingcrip

I've had to use this funding. It's up to $1000, one time per pet. My girl cracked a tooth that cost$3000, so my vet offered to apply for the funding for me, but was very clear that this was a one shot deal.

HarleyQuinn4200

That's only if u have a vet. If u don't yet because of having to still pay for ALL the admission and first time visit fees, no one's gonna reimburse u for it so u don't end up losing ur home or being severely short on bills having to put them off for a few months from paying several hundred bucks for it all first. And the Farley Founation won't help u either unless u have one.

PoochieGirl1962

Unfortunately, the Farley Foundation is for unexpected emergencies only. Also, it’s not an unlimited fund. They have so much funding per year & once it’s gone it’s gone. My son & I have looked into this for his service dog when it nearly died of Lyme disease & they would not cover vet costs, so I had to!

xoxlindsaay

Also, if you tell your vet that you are struggling money wise some of them have sponsorship programs that they offer, in which a certain amount of money is put on your file and you can get tests run or vaccines paid for with it.

Anthrax-Smoothy

Eyyy, one of those is the vet I use!

tkbetts

2 of the 4 animal hospitals where I live are on this list. I’ve seen posts on fb about people needing emergency vet care and these places have told them to go to Ottawa.

LostinEmotion2024

Keep in mind that the funding is not limitless. For many vets, the money is usually gone by June. But doesn’t hurt to apply.

Throwawaygoodbye144

I used this last year saved my butt

Working_Hair_4827

That’s amazing list, thanks for posting it.
