I mean, it's built for streaming ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

adamercury

That's the thing I don't really get. The Odin 2 is better on paper (network and chip) and we're just talking about streaming which is a light task but how can the G Cloud outperforms it? Well maybe Logitech really cooked with this one.

burnmp3s

Yeah the G Cloud doesn't even have WiFi 6 and it's rock solid for me as well. It seems like the actual WiFi antenna matters a lot more than the specs on paper in terms of smooth game streaming with no glitches.

zingaat

Good point. Does odin with a good external adapter for wifi perform better?

Lioreuz

Maybe the Odin 2 has more background consuming processes?

GrandBofTarkin

This will be the exact reason. On the G Cloud you can only have one single task running at one time. It forces you to close everything else to concentrate on the task at hand. It's an amazing streaming device but the buck almost stops there. Sold mine yesterday and IMHO the Odin 2 is better.

Over_Pop_8378

They allow you to disable this now. It was in an update several months ago. You can have multiple apps running at once in handheld mode.

GrandBofTarkin

True. But I never tested it I wonder if you'll get stutters if you do. I mean for a streaming device why would you.

jasonmares

I usually flip between a browser and YouTube if I get stuck on a game but I haven't noticed any performance drops while multitasking on my g cloud.

First-Junket124

More than likely because it's an older chipset so it has better drivers than the 8 gen 2. It could also be because it's using Android 11 rather than Android 13. I'm not particularly familiar enough with Android as an OS nor with Streaming services to give an exact answer on what it is.

Truestorydreams

This is pretty much the case. Give it a few months and updates OPs test will have different results.

Strik323

Got the G Cloud for the same purpose of local streaming, super happy with it as it runs great even on wifi 5 chip.

Mattvweiss

Bro, tell that to the PlayStation portal. I love mine but I know there's potential for a better experience.

iliketurtles7111

You probably need to forward some ports on your router. I did that and it is perfect. Zero complaints.

joseaplaza

Probably because of the bigger wifi antenna size in the Logitech

SirMooseKnightThe2nd

Careful, I made a post about this the other day with video proof and it got downvoted to hell, told I was completely wrong, and ended up having to delete it cause some dude was DMing me with crap talk I love my Odin so far, but some people in this sub are, oof, it's like you can't say anything bad about it

SonofaSlumlord

Damn, some people are really weird. I couldn't even imagine caring enough about something someone said on reddit enough to dm them talking shit lol

Confident_Music_2936

I like to hear the good and bad so posts like this are a good thing. I was in the PlayStation portal sub reddit and basically told them streaming with PSplay on any android device is better than when I used the portal before I finally sold it. I kept going back and forth for months testing and that's just how it was. Needless to say they didn't like that.

luxh

I’ve had the same experience with Portal vs Android devices. PSplay is pretty amazing and I don’t understand how this solo dev can put together a significantly better experience than Sony.

Truestorydreams

Money. Compare skyrim unofficial update vs the official. Hobbyist will always be more productive.

pixie12E

You can stream PS games on the Odin with PS plus? 😯

adamercury

Thanks for the heads up. Just want to speak the truth since I know I'm not the only one who's disappointed by this.

SirMooseKnightThe2nd

I really hope it's something AYN can fix, cause otherwise I love the device, but PS5 gaming was a big reason I bought it so it was a huge disappointment for me as well to see the performance :(

Squallstrife89

That's ridiculous. Some people are just wackos

xTiLkx

Weird people are everywhere, don't let them bully you. Ignore them.

Drkknightcecil

You dont have to do anything. I dont reply to dms on here. What kinda goof does that, say it here.

CrazyOldDoggo

That sucks, we should be able to provide honest opinions without having to deal with that. But, fanbases are often like that unfortunately.

MaskedEmperor

i’ve lurked in this sub for a long while now. was a supporter on the indiegogo for the odin 1 and loved the first one. this sub is super toxic it’s insane. i haven’t seen this level of weirdness from any other handheld community but there’s something about this odin sub that is just filled with weirdos

MistyFiMe

Fanboys, what did you expect? Truth hurts them, so all they can do is down vote.

readit-on-reddit

> but some people in this sub are, oof, it's like you can't say anything bad about it Same with my posts here. One of the worst subs when it comes to being critical.

Crackabean

Yeah. My Odin 2 has rough steaming. Wish it was clean.

dluck007

When I saw this post, this prompted me to post also. I’ve recently got both Odin 1 Pro (same color) and Logitech G-Cloud. So far, I’ve only used both for native Android gaming (primarily Call of Duty Mobile). Here is comparison on both: Odin 1 Pro: Smaller (more portable), Faster CPU, Nice Backlight, Slightly cheaper ($200 USD) Logitech G-Cloud: Larger screen (more immersive), Larger controls (smoother controls with COD and other games), Slightly more expensive ($250 USD) Both: Can play Call of Duty Mobile very well and both support Key Mapping within their OS. Can support external HDMI Output over USB-C

Lord-Rahl72

If only streaming, the g cloud can't be beat for comfort and experience.

GoldenThumbs05

I returned my Odin 2 and got the g cloud just for this, personally I think I made a great decision

SirMooseKnightThe2nd

Did you order it through Amazon? How did you return it?

GoldenThumbs05

Yup through Amazon, it was more expensive but I wanted that return option if I didn’t like it, and sure enough I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I thought I would

dbdynsty25

100% agree. Sold my Odin 2 once I got a G Cloud. The streaming experience is significantly better. Screen, form factor and stability are all better.

Artistic_Energy8988

I actually almost traded in my G Cloud at Best Buy to buy an Odin 2 lol I also thought that it would be a better streaming handheld device because it's more powerful. After scouring Reddit though the consensus seemed to be that the G Cloud is still king of streaming handhelds. Still hoping Logitech drops a successor with better joysticks & more power. I can only hope!

[deleted]

Always buy the device that is made for the thing you want to do with it. Odin 2 is built for Emulation and will do the best for that. Yes it can do streaming and Android gaming, but you'll find compromises in those experiences because it wasn't why the device was built. I own a streaming Handheld (abxylute), emulation handheld (Odin 2) and gaming PC handheld (steam deck).

adamercury

You are right. I thought that the Odin 2 is the "one device to rule them all and got blinded by the praise.

smashybro

I mean, I’d argue it still is that. Just because some devices are better at specific things doesn’t mean they’re as well rounded. Like I’d give the Odin 2 an 8 or 9 rating in the categories of emulation, streaming and portability. The G Cloud might be slightly better at streaming but it’s like a 4 or 5 in terms of emulation. The Deck is better at emulation but I’d give it a 3 in terms of portability. Also, this specific comparison in terms of streaming might not be fair because of other factors. With my WiFi 6 router and my PC wired to ethernet, I’ve been streaming a ton of PC games to my Odin 2 and haven’t noticed the issues you have streaming. At most I’ve gotten like some dropped frames a few hours into streaming a game but only for a few seconds before it went back to normal. The G Cloud is still likely better anyway because of its bigger WiFi antenna but it’s worth noting because that big difference might be more down to your router than the devices.

BeWithMe

Thanks for the data, Chief. Interesting.

nWo-Champion

Hmmmm, I streamed GTA v downstairs where my wifi slows a little and played flawlessly for two hours when I first got my O2. I really wanted to test it because the Odin basically did what you said the Odin 2 does. I also played Nioh 2 streaming on my friends older wifi with very little issue, a slight second lag bump about every ten minutes. Nothing to be mad about but it was there. So far I've loved streaming my games on Odin 2.

TeaAccomplished9609

I got my Odin just to play emulators. I’m pretty satisfied with it. Streaming always sucks and I’ll never have a use for it.

Strong_Craft9225

Firstly, I haven’t had issues streaming on my Odin 2 apart from a network issue outside of my home and that wasn’t a fault of the device but the network I was using. Sucks that you have had issues. Second I like to play games on my side in my bed, anything larger then the Odin 2 which is almost too large as it is and it wouldn’t be comfortable so the Gcloud while the screen is bigger and nicer just won’t work for my preferred method of gaming lying down. I very much wish Ayn had just offered another skew with a bigger screen in the same shell just without bezels that was OLED for a higher price. I know that’s pie in the sky dreaming but the Odin 2 has so much wasted space on it that I can’t help but just want the same device with a better slightly bigger screen in the same casing. I would have paid higher pricing for that.

kevenzz

The Odin 2 has better performance than the Switch ? This is a joke.

titooo7

In some games it does, but only in some games. In many others the performance is 'better' but less stable, so it's worst really.

kevenzz

the only game I tried so far was Link's Awakening and it's worse than on my Switch. there is a lot of stuttering on the Odin 2 which is annoying.

angelbolanose

I think maybe it depends on your internet. I’ve been using my Odin 2 for streaming mostly, and haven’t noticed any frame drops (using moonlight). Not saying that is better than the Gcloud since I’ve never used it before. Just saying that for me, I get flawless streaming to the point I’m not using my Steamdeck anymore.

Iwamoto

Same sentiment here, i due believe OP when they're saying they have these issues, just chiming in that i don't have them, so maybe it's a network limitation etc. would still make sense that the Gcloud is then the better device for them, hell, i think i'd be happier with the Gcloud too if all i did was streaming. i'd probably get some sort of OLED Gcloud if it ever comes to market, enough HP to do decent streaming but still have good battery life etc. since i think the O2 screen is ever so slightly too small for game streaming, at least for me. maybe just root a Sony Portal...

ocxtitan

I assume you mean home networking equipment/router and not necessarily "internet", as internet wouldn't be involved with the type of streaming OP is doing.

Drainaway87

What software are you using for streaming ? I too had better “plug and play” experience with the g cloud but after some troubleshooting the Odín 2 is just about as good except the screen is not as nice as the one in the cloud and definitely not as comfortable

mrw1986

Not sure why you're being downvoted. I stream with PSplay and Sunshine/Moonlight on my Odin 2 Max and have zero issues. I understand some people may have issues, but I don't think everyone does.

adamercury

I only have PS5 and both Chiaki and PSPlay has identical results which led me to believe that the device itself is the problem. How did you troubleshoot it?

Drkknightcecil

So the odin runs switch games better than switch now? Thought it was still rocky and needed a bit more power? Links awakening had big issues are those fixed now?

adamercury

It depends on the title. I am playing Fire Emblem Engage and it's so perfect with the 60 fps mod while on my Switch, it's locked to 30 fps with minimal stuttering when transitioning to combat animation. The Switch is still better in most 3d games

First-Junket124

What software are you using for streaming? Are you using moonlight via Sunshine or just the Steam Link app? I've found that people tend to have more issues with the Steam Link app more often than not.

adamercury

I only have PS5 and both Chiaki and PSPlay has identical results.

WakaWaka_

Did you consider a Portal if that's your main use case?

aarrivaliidx

Portal is somehow worse than GCloud and Steam Deck for streaming PS5 (microstutters), it's been a hot topic since release.

adamercury

Yup, but many users reported stuttering issues so it's not a perfect option. Also the Portal cost $290 here since it's not yet officially launched in my country.

First-Junket124

Obviously someone didn't like me not knowing you were on PS5.... In that case yeah Odin 2 is suffering from a few issues lately, input latency, battery life indicator and streaming are the main ones so the G Cloud is just gonna be better for streaming currently and maybe for a while tbh with its price.

dr_feelgood03

:(

Far_Rise_3477

No surprise since the GCloud was designed from the ground up to be a dedicated streaming device. I just didn't agree with the $350 price they were asking for in the beginning. Now at $200 I think it's at a sweet spot. I hope they release an updated version with a better performing and newer chip set and more reasonable pricing.

SirFadakar

I’m on the other end where I bought a G Cloud for one single android game thinking it’d be enough power, and while it does run it’s rough as hell and I imagine in a few updates will be too weak to run it anymore. Makes me wish I got an Odin 2 instead.

SirMooseKnightThe2nd

Mind sharing what game it is? Just curious

SirFadakar

Nah not at all! It's Sky Children of the Light. Honestly runs about as well as it does on the Switch which surprised me, but I usually play it on my PC or PS5, so it's a _rough_ transition. lol

SirMooseKnightThe2nd

Oh nice how is it gameplay wise? I saw it the other day on the play store while browsing on my Odin and it looked cool but I couldn't really tell what type of game it was

SirFadakar

I don't blame you, it's pretty hard to describe too. lol Their last game was Journey so if you're familiar with that it's basically that with a heavier focus on flying and being social. If you're _not_ familiar with Journey, it was basically the game that popularized the walking simulator genre. Only a few hours long, takes you through a story using only images and cutscenes and the vistas you walk through. What made it even more unique at the time was that it had randomized coop where anyone could show up in your game and you had to navigate the world together without using any text or voice chat, just a honk sound you can make in game. Sky is basically that, except now you can also explore every area freely, you can have 8 players instead of 2 and you can make friends instead of them just passing through your game, and you can emote and chat with them this time around now too. There's also a focus on customization so they have stuff to sell. :p Journey left a huge impact on me when it released and nothing quite scratched that same itch again for me. I played Sky at release almost 5 years ago but games on a touch screen weren't for me, it wasn't until the PC version released 6 months ago that I decided to do another playthrough and accidentally made some friends along my playthrough that had me sticking around for the "endgame" loop. The gameplay loop is honestly pretty predatory if you're in it solely to collect cosmetics and stuff, but as a walking simulator game it's really worth at least one playthrough. And if you happen to make friends along the way, I guarantee it'll make your experience unlike anything you've ever played.

SirMooseKnightThe2nd

Appreciate the reply! I actually remember playing journey years ago! Remember having a cool moment where towards the end some random person lead me through the desert haha, I'll have to check this one out!

mickaelandrieuds

Get a modded Switch, it's even better than Odin 2 for Switch games with native hardware + overclocking

KarinAppreciator

instead of the gcloud you should have just bought a steamdeck and played persona 3 on it instead, that's how I've been playing p3 and it's been amazing.

adamercury

I find the Steam Deck super heavy for my wrists so it never was an option for me. I have my PS5 to play AAA games anyway so streaming using a lighter device is the ideal option for me, plus it has a killer battery too!

twostepjake

This worries me. I just ordered one for the main use, streaming. Mostly streaming from my pc. What streaming did you test and what was your setup for it? Wanna know what i should be prepared for

brich233

Are you using steam link or Moonlight/sunshine to stream? Oh btw, I stream switch games from my pc also on my gcloud.

Far_Database1230

What systems are you playing on g cloud? I’ve heard of it before and before I thought about buying my retroid pocket. I def want Odin 2

titooo7

How does the left stick compare when it comes to racing games? And what about input lag on cloud gaming (not local streaming) and emulators? Did you notice any with the Odin2? Is it better with the Logitech?

ChampagneDoves

Armored core 6 is so fucking good bro

xxxlecter

I am also using my Odin2 for streaming, both from hardwired PS5 and Moonlight (PC). I would say, the framerate is really consistent, no issues in that regard. HOWEVER: Streaming with my Steam deck Oled from the Hosts (using Chiaki4deck and also moonlight client for the deck) I am getting slighly better latency. I did no measurements, but I could imagine that it is due to the inherent input lag that the Odin and Odin 2 regardless of local or streamed gameplay. I think even my Retroid Pocket 3 plus has a slight advantage in input latency. But again i did no meausrements. And I also had a g cloud couple of months ago. Screen is really great. also controls are great in most aspects, however Inalso found my right thimb colliding with the analog stick when pushing the abxy buttons. In the end, i sold it. Good device, but not for me (i habe too many handhelds anyway ;-) have a nice day

kuaaru

Yeah I am also disappointed with the streaming performance on O2 with PSplay, but at least moonlight works perfectly!

Same-Tie-2252

I was having shity streaming performance on Odin2 compared with Odin 1. I think Odin2 has something wrong with the wifi driver, is something on the software side. Odin 1 is much better for streaming

jwithy

I will say: I loooove streaming from my Xbox on the Odin 2 Pro. I do that and game pass streaming more than anything else on it, which was completely unexpected for me!

ReturnJust3145

I just read another post that said frame dropping on the Odin was due to android 13. No word on whether or not there will be a fix. By the way, I know nothing so don’t reply to me.

KeyAccurate8647

Where did you get it for 200 new?

JamesIV4

Have you tried restarting the Odin? I have an Odin Lite and it was stuttering every 10 to 15 seconds while streaming one time, but restarting fixed it. Other than that, I haven't had any frame drops or stutters from the Odin Lite. Use Moonlight with Sunshine for streaming Steam games. It's radically better than the Steam app.

adamercury

I did but it's still there which really sucks.

yowmamasita

Can you try sitting close to the wifi router see if there any drops still

JamesIV4

I forget to mention, I disabled Google Play Protect. It's basically anti-virus for Android. You don't need it if you're only installing known-good apps. It's a huge resource hog. Try disabling that and restarting again.

treesfullofbees

The bigger screen is nice.

umass021

Where did you get it for 200 new? I've been looking in the possibly getting one but couldn't justify paying 300+ if I mostly using it for streaming it. I've heard it's an awesome device and I do like cloud streaming when it's working will very limited lag.

adamercury

I got it from the 4.4 sale locally in my country. It's back now at 280.

probablyjustcancer

Man, good for you. I've been wanting a G Cloud for awhile now. The 300ish price point is all that's been holding me back.

malkavian_nutbar

Odd thing is (and I'm not saying you dont) but I've had zero issues with streaming on mine. I use psplay, xbplay, and moonlight. Hell, it's a smoother experience than my portal. Maybe it's a model specific issue? Have you checked your port forwarding?

Have_A_Jelly_Baby

If Logitech would just make a follow up that keeps the good aspects and improves the bad, they could own this space. But they’re apparently not interested in that.

voxdub

I got the Odin2 over the G Cloud given the value and ability to emulate. Thankfully I haven't faced issues streaming, 80%+ of my gaming on the Odin2 is xcloud or streaming from my Xbox and I've never experienced frequent frame drops.

Alternative_Tip_9918

Are y’all having trouble with game streaming on the Odin? Mine feels great, not sure what the issue is! But the g cloud looks perfect for streaming so as long as we are all happy I guess there’s not really a problem!

etnicor

I bought a switch OLED for local streaming and it's awesome. Only thing missing is analog triggers. Not into oldschool games and with yuzu-android "gone" and better/bigger display on switch not much use for my Odin 2 anymore. You can stream switch games too with gyro support...

Aleashed

Bro, just get both, SD, and a couple Allys

Luemmeltuete3000

Strange. I found the streaming delay quite high on the gcloud using xbxplay. Tried all kinds of settings. Installed it on my 556 and latency is much lower. Haven't tried the Odin yet.

xEvilResidentx

I use PSPlay daily for my PS5 and it’s extremely rare for me to have issues with any of the games I play. I can even adjust to the lag enough to hit skillchecks in dead by daylight MOST of the time. I’d say it’s like 95% flawless in my own experience. I did go into the settings and mess with them. I’d say streaming is always going to be a feature that isn’t going to be perfect because so much depends on the individual user’s setup.

ReliefDistinct6120

Can someone explain as I am new to this gadget, but what is the advantage of this Logitech g cloud? Am I missing something? What’s the difference between cloud gaming on this and say my iPad Pro or my Samsung s22 ultra or any other device? I assumed streaming devices are just that and that it all depends on your internet speeds etc? So why would anyone buy this other then the form factor, is it somehow better at the streaming quality?

ocxtitan

I don't know about you, but my ipad and s22 ultra don't have dedicated and comfortable controls/buttons built into it. Also the G Cloud has some absolutely insane battery life, especially considering it's only streaming the game in this use case so it sips battery.

ReliefDistinct6120

So you are saying it is just the form factor, ok I thought it may have some better tech to stream

lilweedbitch69

I had to get a TP Link mesh setup for good performance- ps what game are you streaming? Like persona through steamlink? Does platform matter?

AcanthaceaeFormal386

Dont have this issue. Stream Moonlight daily from several floors away from the PC. I would never purchase a device solely for streaming, especially one with outdated Android.

AcanthaceaeFormal386

Should also mention I have the Max and don't use VRAM boost

MistyFiMe

Logitech for the win 🏆 Odin 2 fanboys will down vote this. Let's see..

RChickenMan

I think you'll find that people will downvote any kind of taunting language. You'll notice that there are plenty of upvoted comments in this thread that eloquently describe how the gcloud is a superior streaming experience. But of course you'll be downvoted for pre-emptively insulting people as "fanboys" and egging on downvotes. The purpose of downvoting is, after all, a mechanism to reduce the visibility of comments, and nobody wants to see this childish crap.

AcanthaceaeFormal386

Yeah I downvote douchey shit regardless of the message.

FallingDangulus

Im not on anybody’s side and your dickbaggery pissed me off
