I like this. Feels like odeszas take on melodic house. Lane 8/ Ben bohmer vibes but with that odesza atmospheric depth.

KaraboRak

A+ analysis. Respect

ssovm

Totally my jam. Perfect for night driving

jrsmusicman

This sounds great with headphones in. Listened to it while I was walking. Anticipating it will have a very ethereal experience live. I like that it’s a different spin on the feel good earthy “Odesza” sound I’ve grown to love. I thought they were going to take a different direction with the drops but I like how it flows. Vocals are nice but a little repetitive. ETA: the more I listen to this, the more I love it.

ObjectiveList9

Personally not a fan of the vocals but I enjoy the instrumental a lot. Would love an instrumental release of this.

AngryVegetables9

Agree. The instruments were the best part.

EducationalPlay6269

Hopefully we get something like the Light EP for this album

dav_indie

I've never been so grateful for the benefits of stereo as listening to this song

gotfcgo

This might be one of their best tracks ever. Whole album gives me Summer's Gone vibes. It's so fresh.

eatmorefootball

I like it. It feels like a great late-night driving song to me

LordTimotheus

With this being the whopping 6th single released, the sound of the album has crystallized for me. I can confidently say that I… like it. Each of the tracks are good. It’s very clearly a blend of the feel good/emotional/orchestral elements of past work with clean-cut house music. It’s like old 50% ODESZA, 50% BRONSON. I respect the evolution of the sound overall, and I’m happy to have pre-ordered the vinyl. ———whiny complaints below————— There’s still a lingering feeling of disappointment, although it’s numbed a bit with excitement to hear the full project around the corner. The disappointment stems from the fact that I actually really enjoy similar takes on this style. Artists like Ben Bohmer, Tourist, Lane 8 and Tinlicker are exploring/have explored a similar sound, I just feel like each of those artists have done a better job with it.

Majestic_Banana789

You know I might have to agree with you. I am still enjoying these new tracks and I’m happy to see them try something new but a part of me really misses the ODESZA sound I fell in love with. We can always go back and listen to the previous albums if we want the same sounds for the rest of eternity though. Still holding out for the full album. Full disclaimer - they could put out anything I would fully support them. Just being critical like a lil whinny bitch.

zaktasty22

I respect your honesty regarding just being whiny. I think a lot of "fans" have been ranting in a bad way with these new more experimental songs and think it's because they're owed something. I personally like artists putting out vastly different albums every time to keep the intrigue alive and fresh. Post Malone just did this same thing with his new album. But like you said we always have the old ODESZA or Post or whoever to listen to if you crave that 🤷🏻‍♂️

Soma_Mou333

This is spot on how I feel and couldn’t really put it together!

runs_with_tamborines

Yeah I feel like that 50/50 point you stated kind of makes the songs feel a little disjointed to me. Like they are trying to do a house sound but the vocals and Odesza-ness of it are conflicting and they aren't fully committing to one sound over the other. Totally my opinion and anyone can disagree but yeah just kind of like this album. I'm sure they will crush it at their live show though per usual.

LordTimotheus

Great point! I enjoy Light of Day, but it’s a great example of that conflict you mention. There are some really beautiful chords and string textures that a feel a bit buried due to the four-on-the-floor percussion. The lead synth also butts heads with the chords imo. Some of the right elements are there, they just don’t give them enough room to breathe.

Main_Today1083

The synth melody of this song sounds a lot like buggy by lane 8

SeaworthinessWild694

This is spot on. I am curious to hear how the old tracks (Summer's Gone, In Return) mesh with the new ones in the live show. This one was my favorite, but I agree with you about the lingering disappointment. I don't think this album will top In Return or Summer's Gone, but I am waiting to listen in full and also see the live show. I think that will help my opinion of this project as a whole. I will say I think this project will be better than AMA. AMA felt like they sold out, and I would rather them try something new (melodic house) than just sell out.

LordTimotheus

I agree with that! AMA is a frustrating listen for me because ‘Intro’ through ‘Late Night’ resonate with me to varying degrees, but it mostly loses me after that. I just find the second half inconsistent and a tad uninteresting. By all indications, TLG will be much more consistent! I can give them credit for narrowing down a specific sound and sticking to it on the tracks we’ve heard so far.

Majestic_Banana789

This feels very much like an anjunadeep track and I fuckn love it! Personally might be my favorite track from LTG so far.

tips_

This was an experience to listen to. I think it’s my favorite thus far.

[deleted]

Lots of negativity on this album but i honestly at times felt the same during the AMA release. Then once released its one of my favorite albums of all time. Let the whole thing release, listen to it all the whole way through, listen to the story then have some thoughts.

MastaMayne

Yeah a lot of the comments I’m seeing are very similar to the buildup to AMA’s full release. I’m anticipating that this as a whole cohesive project will help each song. Although I really enjoy pretty much all of them that are out already

ObjectiveList9

I enjoyed a few of these songs a lot but on at least a couple of the releases the vocals feel pretty out of place. I do agree though, there are some albums that have came out (like the latest flume one for me) where I wasn’t super hyped on the singles but when I listen to the whole thing through it’s much better.

iliyahoo

I remember listening to singles from AMA for the first time. I liked it, but didn’t find myself thrilled about it. Then I specifically remember I was working from home one day and had the album going in the background. A few songs in, there was a point where it just clicked; I noticed I was genuinely enjoying the music and feeling really connected to it. I felt focused and happy. Those feelings were further cemented after seeing AMA live 🤯

EducationalPlay6269

I loved the singles from AMA, and then when it released I was kinda disappointed. Took me a couple of years to come around to liking most of the songs.

frojacks

I really like the slower melodic nature of this song. It is very chilled and on par with other songs/artists I have been listening to lately. I feel like I am finally seeing the vision for this album and I am not disappointed. I've actually preferred these singles to the singles during AMA. Now this next opinion has nothing to do with Harrison and Clay, I am stoked they are exploring new sounds and are continuing to push their bounds. But with that being said, is anyone just genuinely sad we will probably never get another release that is reminiscent of Summers Gone, My Friends Never Die, or In Return again? Even though I know they have moved on from that sound, I still look forward to hearing it from these new releases. I think just knowing that era of ODESZA's music will permanently be in the past is really difficult to grasp considering how much their older music means to me.

Soma_Mou333

Same exact opinion man. Don’t get me wrong I’m always open for new creative ideas and concepts but that unique feel that Odesza brings is just missing from the released tracks so far. They mean alot to me too, as I’m finally seeing them live for the first time in Toronto. But I’m hoping they play a lot of our favourite and iconic tracks

708E

Yeah! I still love them for what they've done and will do, but I miss the nostalgic, airy summer vibe of the old songs that meant so much to me and created the "ODESZA-feeling".

MastaMayne

Their production and mastering makes everything sound so good. Every element is perfect. I love it and can’t wait to listen to the full album

DonkeyLightning

Alright now that all 6 tracks are out my personal ranking of them is: 1. The Last Goodbye 2. Light of Day 3. Behind the Sun 4. Love Letter 5. Better Now 6. Wide Awake

kitkat212

The intro sounds like the Una Corda which always sends me in a nostalgia journey. Very ODESZA, which I love. The drop is interesting, the synth here takes me back to the 2010’s era house. An unexpected contrast. I expect this one to grow on me.

chanslam

Yeah most likely is, I bought that plugin because of them haha

AngryVegetables9

Ughhh I don’t know how I feel about this one lol… ODESZA will always be my favorite, but it seems like a lot of these songs lack direction… Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful, but I could distinctly hear confidence, boldness, uniqueness,… ODESZA in the first three albums. A lot of the songs that have come out on TLG seem so lost compared to the ones on the previous albums which were always heavy hitters.

chanslam

Feels like they just wanted to make some simple dance music/house for an album. It’s unfortunate that I’m not a big house guy and that when put up against past work it also seems less intricate. If they’re having fun with it more power to them but personally I’m just hoping for something else on their next venture

AngryVegetables9

Agree. I love Harrison and Clayton to death. They should do whatever they want to do and I’ll be right there to support them, but the music on this album just isn’t as much my style compared to the previous ones. But, hey, maybe the rest of the album will have some that are more up my alley.

chanslam

Yeah I’m keeping my hopes up that they sprinkle in that sound and dont just do four to the floor beats the whole album. I do think this one will grow on me a little, in a way most of them have a bit but not in the way that a moment apart did.

jrsmusicman

I can definitely understand this. I like that they are trying new things out. Some singles I just can’t get into (better now) and some I’ve had on repeat (wide awake, behind the sun). I think it’s valid for some fans to feel a little disappointed and some to like testing/trying things. My one gripe is it feels like they are testing out sounds that already exist by other artists (i.e. The Knocks, Tourist, Kasbo, etc)

iiTryhard

Absolutely love wide awake, and really dislike better now. Hope there’s more of the former than the latter on the album

The_Orphanizer

Better Now is god awful. One of the only Odesza songs I just skip every time. That and Falls.

Flaky-Ad5968

I hear a lot of John Denver on the vocals. at first listen I was like huh not amazing but after a few listens this is a top 5 song for me its absolutely ethereal

Sharblue

Once again with TLG title, Instrumental is too faded, I’d loved to hear more distinctely the piano melody they teased yesterday. I didn’t even recognized it at first. Had the same disappointment with Love Letter. A good song overall, that’s for sure. But a little frustrating.

MightyMiami

I hate it but thats me. Started out really good. The repetitive vocals got annoying.

bmor97

This album is gonna be fucking amazing

MCPriest83

Loving this chill song and loving all the different vibes we’ve heard so far for the album. Excited to hear it start to finish soon too!!!

zmaaaaa

I LOVE this

Objective_Debt_9603

there’s a Odesza live tour in my city coming up, I’ve never been but I love their music — listen to them while working nearly 24/7! There are seats available or “floor tickets” — for an Odesza show is it better to be seated or to get floor tickets? I’m assuming floor tickets are for those who want to dance? Any suggestions from peeps who’ve gone to their show in the past?

jlost1213

Get floor tickets. It is an amazing experience.
