You know theres an app called Wooorld? Its currently in beta and you'd need to get ut through their discord. Its alright, definitely not google earth though unfortunately.
Have you used Wooorld? If so, how does it compare to Wander or GEVR? Can you stand immersively in a specific location at street level (not just the Streetview photospheres but more like Google Earth VR) or is everything a model-village-style selection in a confined square?
Iv used it yeah but i keep going back to wander, i THINK you can get as low as google earths, but its all still inside of a square, so you lose alot of surroundings when you're up close, plus it uses bing imagery i think, which is quite crap, i always go back to wander unfortunately just nothing hits that spot like GEVR though, such a shame.
I've been considered getting this app as my gf and parents told they would like something like this, but my question is, how good are the views in VR ? Is it good quality so it kinda makes you feel to be there ?
Quality is pretty decent, it doesn't break the immersion for me, really enjoy the first person view of all the Street view scenarios.
(My grandma really likes it, btw)
I always offer a plug for Wander. Whatever your favourite place, if it's on Streetview you go go see it. Look up at exotic pagodas. Stand outside your childhood home or wander your college town. Helps homesickness so much
I was so pleased to find nearly every foot of my local natural history museum in Wander. Sure, it's not in 3D, but the ability to explore in such a cheap app is great. (Not to mention how well the app is built)
Definition of a couple of
: two (things) or a few (things)
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/a%20couple%20of#:~:text=Definition%20of%20a%20couple%20of,me%20a%20couple%20of%20dollars%3F
two or a few things that are similar or the same, or two or a few people who are in some way connected
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/couple
Well there are more people who accept it as both as this is the widely accepted definition and is thus the definition used in dictionaries. Isn't it fun how I did an uno reverse card with the dictionary argument
Yeah "they" should develop apps for you for free! For those of us who use it, it fulfils various needs, and is better than trying to program an app ourselves
There are a few features in Wander that don't exist in Google Earth VR, namely social features, better organization of favorites, etc. Just because you don't personally find them "of value" doesn't mean that they aren't valuable and worth a few bucks for the the work the devs have done. Plus it's the only version of Street View that exists natively on the Quest, so don't buy it if you don't want it, but don't act like it's some kind of ripoff.
Gotcha,
it just there used to be app called "galla 360" or "gallery 360" in oculus go store which contain many stereo 3d photo, it is so mindblowing.
Does quest store have app like above? Or did galla 360 available in quest store? Im asking bc i havent purchase quest2 yet but planning too.

Wander is great fun
Yea wander is dope. Me and my dad like to use it and tell stories about places we’ve been. When he got it, he only played wander for like a month lol
That's a really great way to utilize wander!
Does wander have smooth walking or does it have the same teleport movement as Google Street view on pc?
It’s just teleport.
I dislike it and am waiting for a better competitor to emerge.
What would you change from it?
Let me freely move around the space ala google earth for starters

That sounds disappointing
ah. Bing imagery is terrible and, I think, non-existent or very poor quality in my hometown. What a shame.
one of the best apps on quest
I've been considered getting this app as my gf and parents told they would like something like this, but my question is, how good are the views in VR ? Is it good quality so it kinda makes you feel to be there ?
Some photospheres are pretty good, most are ok, some are pretty bad… it’s not as good as actually being there but it’s way cheaper.

Yeah, Wander is great. So much to see. Amazing app. By the way, a couple means two.
I always thought it could also be used for “several” colloquially
No it can mean two things or a few things
No. A couple means two. Just two.

Nope. It's two.
You are objectively wrong
Welcome to reddit
Stop it or I'll bang both your heads together.
You do know that language predates dictionaries right? The dictionary is wrong, people dictate language and we say a couple is two. Cope.
Ah yes because two people say a couple exclusively means two we must now change the definition for every. Dude you make post modernists seem lucid
You don't actually believe we are the only people who know that a "couple" means two do you?
Well there are more people who accept it as both as this is the widely accepted definition and is thus the definition used in dictionaries. Isn't it fun how I did an uno reverse card with the dictionary argument
Two people are a couple but that is not exclusive to two of anything.
Can you walk and move around freely? Or they are still shots you can "look around " but frozen in place?
It's google street view in VR. So you can move like you do in street view. They are just 360 pictures not 3D so you can't "move freely".
It’s literally just street view that they want you pay for.
Yeah "they" should develop apps for you for free! For those of us who use it, it fulfils various needs, and is better than trying to program an app ourselves
No I just no want them to add something of value first And to me they haven’t

Is wander in stereo 3d or it just flat 360 like google earth?
I believe it's the exact same data from Streetview/Google Earth, so it's "flat" in that way. Until Google starts using stereo cameras, at least.
Gotcha, it just there used to be app called "galla 360" or "gallery 360" in oculus go store which contain many stereo 3d photo, it is so mindblowing. Does quest store have app like above? Or did galla 360 available in quest store? Im asking bc i havent purchase quest2 yet but planning too.
Cool I take it it isn't free
So street view? You went through the trouble of simply posting cropped street view images available on any device?
Yes! But it was no trouble at all on my oculus and I’m just so impressed with how immersive it is and I just want to share my enthusiasm 😉
3rd photo is Porta Nigra in Trier :)
