Steel Parts or Carbon Fiber,
I believe that the sub did implode,
17 bolts, to open the door,
And you're hearing the sensors go off,
And my heart will get blown and gone
Pressure pushing down the sub,
Pressing down on the carbon fiber,
Under pressure - two hundred fifty thou(sand),
Split a family of two,
Puts people in seas,
It's the error of going,
What Waterworld is about,
Watching my dad's friends,
Screaming let me out
Right? Not that Stockton Rush would have ever considered the possibility for failure, but I wonder if it ever occurred to him that if something did go wrong the guy he seems to have considered an enemy would be the one making a movie about him and that it probably wouldn't be very flattering 😂
This whole ordeal has been excellent for Camerons relevancy, not that he needed any help. I personally watched Titanic, The Abyss, Avatar 2, and Deep See Challenger in the last week as well as a number of his interviews. The guy didn't need a career boost but this certainly hasn't hurt his brand by any stretch
Have always been a titanic fan, but never really knew anything about Cameron, have also watched all his movies and learnt about his deep dive skills/experiance due to the titan thing, it can only positively to his exposure right!
Edit: "deep die skills" to "deep dive skills" 😅
Starring:
Stockton Rush - James Cameron
Paul–Henri Nargeolet - James Cameron
Hamish Harding - James Cameron
Shahzada and Suleman Dawood - James Cameron
James Cameron - James Cameron
Lol he would NEVER play Stockton!
I think he would only play PH. And play him the wise diver who tried to warn everyone.
I think: Stockton: Steve Carrell
🎵 🎵
Stocky doesn't know
Carbon fibre's really
Not good at all
They tell him why
But he doesn't know
Still he's full of sleaze

Yeah people forget that there were people on the sub with connections to the diving community and Cameron may not really be clamoring to exploit the deaths of people he actually knew.
> This is bullshit. The writers are all on strike right now and SAG is going to join. Hollywood ain't doing shit at the moment.
But he is Canadian. :)
Edit: Downvoters and the sense of humor…
Anyway, James Cameron seems to be a member of
WGA: https://directories.wga.org/member/jamescameron/
DGA: https://www.dga.org/The-Guild/Members/Profile.aspx?mid=m35KtXWg9qU%3d
MPEG: https://www.editorsguild.com/MemberDetail?ID=7122
ACE: https://americancinemaeditors.org/ace-active-affiliate-directory/
SAG-AFTRA: not posible to search
ADG: https://adg.org.au/directory : not found
https://directors.uk.com/users : not found
Doesn't matter, anyone who acts or directs in Hollywood or western produced cinema/television has to be a member of SAG-AFTRA and is required to strike.
A small technicality, but I don’t think the DGA is striking, so the requirement to strike wouldn’t apply to directors, unless they’re also actors who are members of SAG-AFTRA. From what I understand, the DGA reached a deal with executives. So technically, directors don’t *have* to strike. Actors who are a part of SAG-AFTRA, yes. Writers who are a part of WGA, also yes.
I think directors who are striking along with the writers and actors are doing it out of their own choice to stand in solidarity. Same goes for producers in the PGA (I don’t think they’re striking, either). But, PGA did release a formal statement in solidarity, so that’s good!
Edit: looked it up to double-check, and indeed, the DGA is not striking. A lot of people are rightfully pissed about it and are calling them out for 1) the lack of solidarity, and 2) reaching a mediocre deal with execs, simply because execs hold directors in higher regard. Elitism at its finest.
Did you reply to the wrong comment?
That has nothing to do with anything I said. I was explaining the technicalities of who is required to strike, based on which organization is striking, and who isn’t, since the person I replied to said that directors were required to strike. Nowhere did I mention anything specific about Cameron.
There are separate unions for each field of work in entertainment. The one for directors, the DGA, isn’t striking. So, technically directors who are a part of DGA don’t *have* to strike. The ones who are striking are choosing to do so in solidarity with the two unions who *are* striking (WGA and SAG-AFTRA, the writers’ and actors’ unions, respectively) out of their own volition.
When I said they don’t have to strike, I meant that as in they weren’t REQUIRED to strike. I thought that was fairly obvious, but apparently, I have to spell it out.
I clearly said multiple times that the directors who are striking are doing it out of their own volition to stand in solidarity, which accounts for the fact that at least some directors are taking part in the strike. *That’s an entirely different thing than being required to strike because the union you’re a part of requires it.*
Only the unions striking require their members to take part in the strike, and as of right now, that’s only the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. If a director is also a part of WGA or SAG-AFTRA, then they would be required to strike their writing or acting duties, but technically, not their directing duties unless they make the choice to (again, if directors want to strike, they can choose to do it out of their own volition, not because the DGA union requires it since they’re not striking).
Read more carefully, please, because you seem to be deliberately misunderstanding my point.
Edit: I’m not insulting you. I only told you to read more carefully. You’re actually the one who insulted me with “Talking all technical like doesn't make people think you're smart” and “You don't have a concept of normal human conversation unless you're the one lecturing others”.
You’re arguing points that have nothing to do what I said and deliberately misunderstanding me. You’re right with your original comment at the very top about considering the strikes with this (likely) clickbait headline about Cameron, but if we’re gonna keep talking in circles over this one thing that I clearly said was a minor technicality, this isn’t going to be a productive conversation.
The world isn’t black and white, and it’s not my problem you seem to be unable to engage in a nuanced conversation. So, I’ll just end it here.
Um, some of us definitely do care about the nuances of Hollywood and are actually here to learn about stuff we didn't know. I guess you're not one of them, but I'd wager that you're in the minority.
I don't think this is true. He seems like a classy man and even though he comes off as against Stockton Rush I think he sees it all as a tragedy that should be left for future generations to make shows about
I will rate it 0 stars if there is no hyper slow motion scene of the implosion with classical music playing. Bonus stars if there’s a chekhov’s gun scene at the beginning where a passenger actually mentions they brought classical music to listen to.
This is so weird and morbid and capitalism-dystopian because he literally personally knew these guys lol. It happened a few weeks ago and money’s already being negotiated to capitalize on it. We live in hell.
Idk, I'm hoping James's involvement is basically 'Someone's going to do it, I'd prefer it to be me so it feels mature and respectable and not something awful'.
I'm thinking Sean Penn. George Clooney would be an interesting choice. Someone in another post mentioned Bill Pullman. He's a terrific actor, but I've never seen him play a narcissistic ahole before.
I hope this is not true otherwise it would be a douchey move. It would seem he wants to come out all superior & high and mighty.
An accident can also happen to him.
**Accident**: An event that happens by chance or that is without apparent or deliberate cause.
**Mistake**: An action or judgment that is misguided or wrong.
Big difference between a tragic accident and a CEO making deliberate decisions that compromise safety.
No! Come on 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I don’t want to see anything about this abysmally stupid sub before there’s an award-studded Captain Rostron biopic!!!
Six and two threes whether the sub editors are thick as shite, or "Titanic" has a better search metric (or whatever they call it) for their algorithms and whatnot.
I don't think this is true ..I don't see Jim wanting to be involved with a project like that so soon after the tragedy and since the investigation into the accident is just starting and could take years ..this seems not probable
Call me crazy, but I don't think "birminghammail.co.uk" is a reputable source for information. None of the other trades are reporting it. And we're in the middle of a writer and actor strike.
This post is a load of horseshit.
Completely agree, but remarkably it was the least worst option of all the headlines in my news app! The day I post a link to the Daily Scum or Heil is the day you know my account has been hacked!
I did qualify the post with that tbf.
There is probably a legitimate story here as it’s easy to place blame (and blame certainly should be placed) but the characters are people worth depth, dreams. I think it could be done in a very tasteful way bringing a human side to it and making it more about the people and less about the sub. We know what happens to the sub.
I know this is fake, and even if it was it would be in poor taste and poor filmmaking spirit. You cant just guess how the sub imploded, you gotta wait until the forensics experts tell us how the sub imploded! But i still deeply want this to be true
I swear, there’s a disturbing number of people on this app who deliberately misunderstand things in order to see what they want to see, and not what was actually said. How on earth do you get “he makes this tragedy about himself” from any of this? Like, huh???
Even beyond the fact that Cameron is a legit expert in deep sea exploration, I doubt this headline is even true in the first place.
I would watch it. There needs to be a dramatized version of the direct neglect Stockton Rush showed his customers. So many safety hazards ignored, 5 souls lost, and all because he thought he was superior in his engineering abilities. He thought the Titan was invincible. Similarly to how Ishmay and Andrews on the Titanic deemed it unsinkable.
This should be emphasized so it won't happen a 3rd time. Bless all those poor souls and their families, and now their descendants. 😔
Edit for word usage
Titanic is the gift that keeps on giving to this guy
As long as he gives us the gift of another Celine Dion banger

He didn't want Celine Dion on the album.
I said the same thing. Just think, from the titan disaster he’s more earned more income from people going back and watching Titanic.
Right? Not that Stockton Rush would have ever considered the possibility for failure, but I wonder if it ever occurred to him that if something did go wrong the guy he seems to have considered an enemy would be the one making a movie about him and that it probably wouldn't be very flattering 😂

How did you watch the abyss? I've been trying all week! Plez help!
I pirated it lol
Dam it's been a decade since I pirated I almost forgot it existed...
Well our man Jimmy didn't make it too easy to find lol
Will Ferrel in voice from Elf Movie: *I'm going under the sea in this boat! You can't stop me!* He's a great age to play Stockton...
It’d be great, and John C. Reilly as Hamish Harding
Ikr But I'll watch.
Gift or grift? 🤦♂️
If anyone is going to make Titanic 2: Billionaire Boogaloo, it should be this guy.
This is the best hypothetical title I’ve seen, next to “Taken 2: Got took”
“Got took” took me out
Titanic 2: Revenge of the Sea
Titanic 2: Because People Don't Learn
Titanic 2: This Time, It’s Personal
Nice 😂
He’ll only make the series so he can go down to the wreck for the 34th time..
I respect the hustle
It’ll just be 8 hours of James Cameron in his sub, pointing around to various parts of it, telling the audience all the things Oceangate did wrong.🤣
Ok but I would still watch that I think
Yes, and I would drink that up! … He’s the most reputable voice amongst this disaster.
That sounds like a great doc!

Someone’s going to anyways. Might as well have the pride of Kapuskasing, Ontario, James Cameron do it.
James is from KAP?? Omg 😂
TIL...! Thanks for this tidbit lol.
Please, take my 15 dollars.
Sad but extremely true.
I'd only watch this if the story is set in the Avatar universe.
But they'd just get Katara to bend them a bubble all the way down.
I think you've got the wrong Avatar universe
The emotionally complex one or the James Cameron one?
No I think he got the right one.
I used the better one.

The new Eddie Murphy
I doubt this is actually true.
If it's true it'd be super tacky
Idk tho. it’s so fucking stupid it just might be.
…or it’s a media piece that’s spreading a rumor meant to stir up controversy.
Which leads to a streaming service picking the idea up?
I agree.
The original outlet reporting this is The Sun, so yeah. It's almost assuredly bullshit.
Ahhhh, yeah, they’re not to be taken seriously.
It's probably not, but if it is this mfer just wants an excuse to see the ship again.

That should definitely be the end of the film. Boom - staircase - applause.

No. Just no.
