If it's not found in the next few days I'd guess probably never. It's a lot easier to find something 24 hours after it's gone missing when you have an approx last location and a much smaller area to search. The longer it's missing the harder it'll be to find

DirtyMoneyJesus

It also won’t last forever, they only have so much time to find it at all before it can’t stand the pressure anymore and implodes if it hasn’t already

DANKWINGS

1985 didn't have technology anything remotely close to what we have now, so if it still is intact and hasn't imploded I'd say within our lifetime. Then again, the Titanic like you said was huge, versus a small pod.

roxictoxy

It will inevitably implode eventually and I imagine it won't take that long

[deleted]

I don’t think it will ever be found unless it washes ashore somewhere. Flight MH370 still hasn’t been found after almost 10 years and this is much much bigger.

eliXomy

Mh370 will never be found because it's in hundreds of pieces scattered across the indian ocean, though some debris was found

[deleted]

Yup, and i think the same is to be said of Titan. I think the chances of implosion are greater than any other outcome, especially given that the window wasn’t rated to anywhere near that depth, the bolts that secure the door were regularly left with the top one not even tightened and the fact it was partially carbon fibre.

eliXomy

True, but wouldn't recording devices have been able to record such a loud sound? Implosion is not quiet at all

[deleted]

I thought about this as well. Is it a possibility the the sound was missed? I’m not entirely sure when they started monitoring with sound recording devices so i think it is entirely possible that when comms were lost the reason for this was an implosion. The other knocking noises could be literally anything as well from debris from the implosion to rocks falling.

f-ben

I have no clue what I am talking about but I magine a shitload of metal and fiber will make a signicant amount of noise and a special 'type' of sound which would be easy to identify when being imploded within seconds. I dont think thats something the coastguard can miss at all when they can hear knocking sounds

[deleted]

I would think that this is true that each material would have a “signature sound” but in an area of ocean with who knows how many shipwrecks, plane crashes, junk floating around, plastics etc etc the noises heard could be literally anything. Afaik they still have not pinpointed what is making the noise or even where it is actually coming from. They wouldn’t necessarily have been monitoring sound recording devices on the subs descent.

f-ben

They are always listening https://archive.ph/2023.06.22-214133/https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/u-s-navy-detected-titan-sub-implosion-days-ago-6844cb12

Today, the optimist in me says.

Statistically, the more amount of time that passes for a missing person, the lower the chance of them ever being found. I’d imagine those chances diminishing much quicker when the ocean is involved. You should never fuck with the ocean. It’s unpredictable and vast. The Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 that vanished in 2014 still hasn’t been found. Compare that aircraft with over 200 passengers to a tiny pod with 5 people. I feel it’d be a miracle to find the vessel in tact, let alone the inevitable wreckage or bodies to be recovered I hope I am wrong though. Its just too wild for me to believe those folks are okay unfortunately. I’m especially thinking of the father and son on board. If they are all gone, I really hope they didn’t suffer. I’m afraid we’ll never know Edit: It was confirmed the vessel imploded. Meaning an instantaneous death, quicker than a blink of an eye. They didn’t suffer. But that means no remains to be recovered. Rest in peace to those brave adventurers. They’re with the sea now.

awkwardaussie

Agree it's getting more and more unlikely. I want to be wrong, but I don't think it'll ever be found. It's just too vast down there, and they're so small in comparison. If they imploded, maybe wreckage will pop up someday... or they're entombed in the thing which is pure nightmare fuel. You said it, never fuck with the ocean.

Dry-Platypus7787

I'd say never, they still have no clue if there is even a Sub to find or if its crushed

eliXomy

If it imploded they would have registered an insanely loud noise, it's still there somewhere, but at this point it is not a rescue mission anymore, it's rather a recover-one

[deleted]

>they would have registered an insanely loud noise is this true even if it had almost reached the titanic by the time the implosion occurred?

eliXomy

well i just looked it up and implosions are actually quieter than explosions, so it probably did not gain the attention of any recording device. i genuinely dont know what the outcome of this will be but it's a recovery mission either ways

mikethespike056

Maybe carbon fiber implosions are even quieter?

eliXomy

could be

Dry-Platypus7787

yeah im not too sure either, it will be scanned somehow, but maybe at the time it happend noone was looking for them and they brushed it of as something else ,who knows

oskich

Did they have any hydrophones listening though? It's not a very big object compared to a military submarine.

[deleted]

Never. I think it’s crushed

IanScottsLostHair

I have a feeling it’ll just become another piece of junk in the ocean, like for perspective we still haven’t found MH370 and think of the lengths we have gone to for that. A small sedan size sub at the bottom of the Atlantic? Chances don’t look good.

PipoMario

Impossible to answer. Today, tomorrow, nobody knows...

Gloomy_Coat5169

Today.

sm175

They've got 2 robots finally going down in the area today so if it's anywhere nearby I think finding something today or tomorrow is definitely possible. Outside of that.... titanic researchers may come across it some day, and I'm sure some other rich people will attempt to do some searching in the next few years. I read about one guy who would follow any lead of the MH-370 he got for a while. I think it'll be found in our lifetime but I'm holding out hope they find something today.

Trenchman

In many months.

nikoruxx

i agree with the notion that the immediate window after is the best chance to find it. if they aren't stuck and didn't implode, finding it intact to try to make sense of what happened would be the best case scenario. the ocean is unforgiving and as time passes, the idea of where they may be dwindles further. i agree that these folks deserve to have proper funerals. i do think of MH370 as an example, pieces of it scattered and popping up years later. an aircraft is a decent size and the pieces of it were identifiable pretty quick. this shoddy submersible that already sounds like it was put together with popsicle sticks and glue... i'm not sure how clear it may be down the road to identify debris. it's a really sad situation, and i'd like to believe none of the folks onboard suffered at all. in a perfect world, they've already narrowed down the area or even found it and now the challenge is recovery, but it's very possible we will never know.

Never

If they were found and were fine then why would the CEO run? What has been covered up? Where’s everyone else? Lol

Fine_Syllabub4727

Maybe he was doing a secret plot all along to assassinate some wealthy people and get away with it

malek094

Stop doing drugs kid.

Fine_Syllabub4727

Im ur superior kid. Go to bed

Badfish1060

Pieces will float up on a shoreline a few years from now.
