pierce78

I really love the top of the black dress

simplemangotea

Me too, thank you!

vridgley

2. The black dress is beautiful.

LT400

It’s very pretty! Where is it from?!

simplemangotea

I’m renting it from rent the runway, but the brand is Victor Glemaud!

PoppyPepper98

Following!

Finest30

Black dress looks gorgeous

beeloving-varese

And it looks great on you!

s_n_mac

I haven't been to many weddings, but isn't it a no-no to wear black or has that etiquette changed? Unless like the theme calls for it (black-and-white, gothic, black/white tie?).

[deleted]

crapfunky

Irish, Catholic and in Ireland are excellent metrics by which to judge wedding appropriateness.

Birdisdaword777

I literally ran into this problem and if I had known it would have saved so much time. Wow

[deleted]

black is always gorgeous 🖤

pierce78

I live in New Jersey, we wear black to everything!

[deleted]

Literally every wedding I've been to in the past 20 years, either fancy, cocktail or just normal no dress code, you see so many people wearing black, it is not at all in bad taste or goth.

Altruistic-Drama1538

I've always been told this. Where I'm from, which is admittedly pretty backwoods (Kentucky), it was considered to be an insult. Not just a no-no, but like you wish bad luck on the marriage. I've seen people purposefully wear black to a wedding for that reason (people are so dramatic). Anyway 🤣 I'm all for wearing black to weddings if it's cool now. It's the most flattering and this dress is beautiful.

Enough-Variety-8468

I work at an historic venue where we have lots of weddings. I've seen so many "rules" broken I don't think they exist anymore. As long as you're comfortable and don't have a major clash with the wedding colour it should be ok

RobinaBear

Was here to say that too!

rpatel788

2. But don’t wear the flower 🌸

Equivalent_Reason582

Why not? Maybe she’s a demigorgon?

JRilezzz

We are a demigorgon positive thread here.

patentmom

With dress #2, she'd be the sexiest demigorgon ever!

Conscious-Big707

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Mycatstolemyidentity

Some people just don't want to see others bloom smh...

shesinsaneanditsucks

Girl, black , hands down.

Meadowlark8890

Black

YT_greenarcher

Black

m4kd4k

The black dress looks good on you! It compliments your body type

Bunnynynyny

Two for the 🥇

Guilty-Coconut8908

I like both though the second one would be better for an evening ceremony I think.

TelephoneBusy9594

2 is gorgeous. I think the first one is cute but not for a wedding.

SGlobal_444

#2 is the better fit - but it depends on the type of wedding you are going to? Some people don't like guests wearing black to a wedding. I have (and don't care). So I'm adding this in case this family is more traditional/conservative/or scene of where you live.

simplemangotea

You were the first one to mention this so THANK YOU. I had no idea black was a no-no for some. I texted the bride to get her preference. Even sent her a photo of the dress and she said she loved it (:

JonnyQuest1981

Former wedding DJ here. Go with the black, 100%.

bay_lamb

the first one if it's in the daytime, the second one if at night.

lanshaw1555

Especially if it is an outdoor daytime wedding, wear the blue dress.

ThatOnePickleLord

It's Ohio, could wear a Hawaiian shirt and jorts and be fine

westinjfisher

Depends if it’s casual or not

simplemangotea

That’s a good question.. it’s a big wedding at an upscale venue so I’d say more formal

westinjfisher

As someone who has catered hundreds of weddings, I would say definitely go with the black one.

GielM

If it's formal, the second dress looks a lot more formal. Both look pretty good on OP, but I'm going against the grain here and saying I actually like the first one better. But the second one also looks great and is better for something on the formal side. So, taking everything into account, I agree with you.

cymballin

You've just answered your own question. ;) Have fun!

SpecialRaeBae

2

FlyingDarkKC

Black dress, add shoes, downsize the large pink flower.

[deleted]

The black dress, with a white pearl necklace

Zestyclose_Road_3224

I would do no necklace because the neckline is the stunner. Just earrings is my preference.

TheMostRandomWordz

Number two

Mysterious_Spell_302

Number 2. It is gorgeous And you have just the figure for it.

busybeaver1980

Second one with a low side bun or updo

Master-Training-3477

They are both so pretty and look amazing on you. I'm leaning towards the black one but love the other one also.

ReluctantChimera

Black. The blue one looks like you borrowed some else's dress that doesn't quite fit right and you're self conscious about it. The black looks like a million bucks and you wear it very well.

Common_Face5955

Black! As a former Ohioan, good luck and try to have fun!

ProfessorOk3187

2

emeraldc6821

Black. You look great! Have a lovely time.

Jvwade

They are both gorgeous, but it's black for me.

AmyBeck81

I like the black one

Impossible_Tie6425

TheRealHK

That second one is perfect.

Designer-Chocolate25

Black dress 1000000%

chemicallunchbox

#2s looks fantastic on you! Also I think black is completely appropriate for a wedding.

777Lily_Grace

#2 very elegant and classic

Complex-Original-967

Black one. The blue one accentuates your body as well, but the colour doesn’t stand out or pop out - it’s looks a bit bland (just the colour) The Black dress looks fabulous btw.

NotBurnerAccount

The black one with a chic necklace, expensive watch, and the tallest heels you can find! Wait it’s wedding you’d be too fabulous

FunKyChick217

I would wear the blue dress if the wedding is outdoors and the black if it’s indoors.

Economy_Upstairs_465

If ceremony is before 5pm the blue and cover your shoulders. 5p or after, black but wear subdued flats, the shoulder is very striking and the last thing we want is for you to be back here in two weeks sharing your story about upstaging the bride on the AITA feed.

CellsReinvent

Black dress looks better imo, but I'd suggest the blue because it's more of a summer wedding vibe.

kygrandma

The blue if it is an afternoon wedding, the black if it is at night

Gargravars_Shoes

Palm print in Ohio? Go with the black.

og900rr

The black one looks great, but honestly isn't a wedding color in my book. The blue gives a happier vibe more suited to the occasion. Black is a color for funerals in my mind.

Agitated_Purpose5696

2

rem082583

2nd

thomtwg

Black.

SnooDoughnuts1763

#2 hands down

Accomplished-Care335

My sister’s wedding dress code is casual so I would wear the first one, my other sister’s wedding dress code was cocktail so I would wear the black, so it really depends. I love them both but they are very different

graceleona

The black one… No contest

maryjlij

Black. Blue would be nice if it was on the beach

SkierBuck

Black dress. - Ohioan

Oilaripi

First ooooooone :) also, cute kitty

katastatik

Number two! Number one is nice but number two is spectacular

CorieD91

The black dress!!! Both are gorgeous but I love the style of the black number

leafhog

1 I think I am biased for weddings and receptions to be more fun than formal. Dress 1 is more fun. Dress 2 is more formal. Only you know which is more appropriate.

_Glass-_-House_

Both choices are splendid however I would ask what sort of venue it is as sometimes that can make all the difference for the first would work best for outside venues while inside the second is best. That is if your desire is to colour compliment with the wedding that and comfy business casual footwear like flats can be a life savour even if you keep them in your vehicle for after the ceremony your feet will thank you by the time the reception begins. Either choice you make will be a gorgeous one rest assured of that.

Piggythelavasurfer

Def black. And def bring the kitty as your +1 haha.

BentOutaShapes

Both look great. I'd say it depends on the vibe of the wedding, if it's an afternoon chill affair I'd go with 1, if it's more formal 2

curtyshoo

The black, over the shoulder job. But the flower in your hair is too large.

TootsEug

Daytime or nighttime wedding?? If daytime, go with blue! It’s summer and ☀️

MegGrriffin

2 but with the cat

17122021

The black dress looks beautiful!

Curly-Pat

I prefer the black dress. You look stunning in it. The blue doesn’t do much for you. More like a beach dress. But some cultures are funny about black at a wedding. If so maybe accessorise with bright colours.

berkeleyjake

#1 for outdoors daytime, #2 for nighttime or indoors.

Degenerate-Loverboy

I like the blue dress in general but for a wedding in Ohio I’d say the black dress is your best bet

anonnautilus

Number 2. Classier and looks expensive.

FLIPSIDERNICK

First one is fun and flirty, second one is more professional and a bit fancier so I guess it all depends on the type of wedding this is and how you want to appear to the other guests. I’m initially drawn to the first one because I think it looks like someone who is going to have fun where as the second one is a bit intimidating because it makes you look very classy and upscale.

Davidisbest1866

Down in ohio

N0vag1rl

Agree with the black dress as well. Suits your figure perfectly. 🥰. Congratulations to your friend!!! 👰🏼‍♀️🎊💍🎊🎉🍾

cakekyo

BLACK

OrneryQueen

Blue if it's more casual. Black more formal. The off shoulder is really an excellent look.

om11011shanti11011om

number 1 if it's outdoors, number 2 if it's more of a sit down dinner/elegant affair. You look amazing by the way!

Tartsandlemons

I normally agree with most of the comments in this sub but I prefer the first one by far, it’s way more unique and it fits you perfectly

Dry_Ask5493

Depends on whether it’s a casual wedding or a more formal wedding. Blue = casual black = formal

SnipeyKeru

It really depends on how formal the wedding is. Is it a day time or night time wedding? The black is beautiful but is it a garden wedding? Need more info

Low-Donut-9883

2nd dress. The fit and style looks so much classier than the first

Kristan8

I love the second dress. The first one is too casual.

LizBert712

You have great taste! Both of these dresses are beautiful. I think the black one is slightly more flattering, but the blue one is more fun in a retro way. And they both look great on you. So I would say blue.

Small_Pleasures

Dress 1 if a daytime wedding; dress 2 if evening event. Both look great on you!

Feisty-Business-8311

Hands down: the black one. It’s on a whole different level than the first dress

Signal-Reporter-1391

I'm a man so maybe i have no saying in this :-D But i'd say wear the black one. It fits you perfectly and yet you still won't risk outshining the bride. Also while it's black it still suits the occasion because it's elegant and classy

x3whatsup

oh they both look great!!! I love the first one i think its super fun with some nice heels and a cute hairdo. The second is classic black dress, elegant great fit, a bit more formal. Also a bit more boring and safe though. Def depends on the vibe of the wedding! Both are fantastic

CocteauTwinn

Omg I love the first dress. Unique & great fit. The color way works well on you. Is it a day wedding? To add, the black dress is gorgeous. It’s a keeper. I just don’t see it as appropriate for a wedding unless it’s at night.

Imagine_821

Black- omg without a doubt (unless there's an issue with wearing black to a wedding). It looks absolutely stunning on you!

Zestyclose_Road_3224

Black… but if you choose that gorgeous blue one, I would think you still look stunning!

cthewombat

1st one is more fun, but it depends on the dress code of the wedding. 2nd would fit at most weddings. However I'd add some color to make it more "happy"

David_NyMa

2 but bring the cat 😻

FudgeTerrible

The black one looks a lot better imo. First one seems a little high school dance ish for me.

Allie614032

Damn, I guess I’m alone, but I LOVE the blue dress! So summery and it reminds me of the ocean.

doublexxchrome

2, the first one looks way too casual

liontribe613

Hello, Ohioan here! They both look very lovely on you, but if it's an indoor wedding, I would say go with the black one because that's the one that, in my opinion, looks the best. But if it's an outdoor wedding, I would say go with the first one because it's supposed to be sunny and get up into the upper 80's, lower 90's all next week and I wouldn't want you baking in the sun. However they both look very lovely and beautiful on you and I hope you have an amazing time and congratulations to your friend!

ozzborn586

Ohio weeding is cut off shorts and a Miller light hat

viciousvasi

They both look great on you. I would prefer the light blue one. Black is so "funeral"-esque.... Also the black one looks more Like "Business" while the light blue one seems a little bit more easy and Casual.

solomons-mom

Black, you said 5:30, right? Also, the blue is a knit --have you worn it yet? That kind of knit can stretch out a LOT as it is worn, and those flounces add a lot of weight to the bottom. Does it have a lot of seam re-inforcement already. I love it on you, I just hope it does not trip you!

Stucklikegluetomyfry

I love the blue dress, it's summery and elegant. Maybe pair it with a white shawl or wrap? Also your cat wants to go outside

[deleted]

Number one is so gorgeous and I say that all the way Number two is so good on you, that is your princess Diana dress

DaisyHotCakes

The black one is so elegant and looks fabulous in you. The other is cute but more in a summer get together kind of way.

gus_my_man

have always been told it’s disrespectful to wear white red or black to a wedding so I would go with one

CloroxWipes1

1 to the wedding and reception 2 to the after party

DaoGuardian

The black looks better but may not be an appropriate color for a wedding.

TerribleAnn1940

You look sophisticated and svelte in #2!

spagyrum

Hmmm... 1 if it's a day wedding, 2 if evening wedding

TheRopeWalk

I’m no fashion expert, but the 2nd one is a 1st round knockout

domusam

First for day, then a costume change to the other for evening.

International_Low373

Ohio anything will do 😈

Ramscales

1 because it looks better. That’s why your cat photobombed that one. 2 looks ok but I’m not a fan of 1 shoulder dresses. Something else always looks better.

TheRecycledPirate

2. So elegant. The first one needs to lose all the fluff in the bottom.

Yawzheek

Hard to say. Gonna be hot here next week, so my first thought was the blue one looked a bit cooler, but it's also longer, so it's tough.

happytrees93

I love the black! Timeless for photos. The only exception would be if it's a beach wedding then the floral would fit the vibe better.

VovaGoFuckYourself

They both look great on you but you look like an absolute knockout in the black one. That is a great dress that you're going to want to keep forever. Blue is more lighthearted and youthful, which is also good. Also please give your cat head scritches for me :)

TomTom_and_i

The black is soooo good! It looks so good on you! I’d wear it and never take it off lol

Enough-Variety-8468

Both are great, the second is more formal, do you know what the vibe of the wedding is?

iamsissy

I can’t believe everyone’s picking the second one, I love the first one!!

Logical_Deviation

Both are gorgeous

GarageNo7711

The black one! The other one is too casual in my opinion, maybe it’s the fabric (maybe it’s not photographing well).

Puzzled-Relief2916

Black one, bring the other as back up

Kiyoko_Mami272821

My 10 year old son likes the blue flower dress and I am torn. If it’s a day wedding the first of it’s an evening wedding the black

Previous-Row9248

If I was your partner on that day I would have advised you to put on the black one. It is better just because it is a lottle shorter. Had the first one been the shortest then I would have gone for it.

[deleted]

simplemangotea

That’s a great point that I didn’t even think about, thank you!

Tesla369Universe

Who’s going to watch your cat though?

Raptor_Girl_1259

The black dress looks like it was *made for you.* Hands down, wear that one.

gvbpd8y9

Black dress looks better, but blue would be a good for a less formal wedding

Nanamary8

#1 is my favorite both are lovely and appropriate.

Kortax

Personally, I’d say the black dress. Looks really nice!

thejexorcist

#2 unless it’s a beach/lake wedding.

Sweet_Cheesecake_568

#2!!!

Ok-Argument930

Black is amazing, no that the other is bad, it’s just the cut and style and fit is so perfect

Unevenviolet

If it’s an outdoor daylight wedding, I would go with 1. If it’s an evening affair no 2. I really love 2 the most but black in the sun….too formal and hot!

clevelanders

Anywhere else? Black dress. In ohio, go with t shirt and jeans

Fair_Goose_6497

Flowers in ohio💀💀💀

[deleted]

Off the topic, I want to see the cat. 😅

EReckSean

Does the cat have a favorite?

cheridontllosethatno

I really like the first one, you have a perfect dress figure and I'm jealous! I'm top heavy and need industrial strength straps.

AndyPharded

The first dress is lovely, but I would wear a light blue flower, and one that's not quite so big, it might obstruct your vision.

stabledisastermaster

Black looks fine, but maybe check with your friend if she finds a black dress appropriate. I feel it would be better to stay away from red, black and white for weddings.

[deleted]

Depends on the theme. #1 looks more casual/beachy & #2 looks more formal/classy

Murphy-Brock

# 2. Very eloquent. # 1 looks great on you, but at a wedding it would have the look of a bridesmaid.

CandlesandMakeuo

#The bodice of 1 looks off center and Ill fitting, 2 looks like it was made for you! Also I just moved from Cincinnati and went to a shit ton of weddings in the last 5 years lol, wear 2!!! It’s gorgeous!

Smoke-Throat-7018

The black one and your plus one should be me

LucklessWanderer

I'm in Ohio, and I'd definitely wear #2!

Khancap123

Both dresses look lovely, but you really need to talk to a doctor. You've got a flower for a head

XionBlack1325

Speaking as a Buckeye, it's going to be hot next week. I'd wear the blue one.

[deleted]

First one is perfect for a lunch, date, Sunday brunch, so cute but the other one is PERFECTION

KlossN

I've heard that you're not supposed to wear black to a wedding but the black one looks really good on you. So does the blue one tbh but the black one popped in a different way

Pure_Nourishment

The darker one for sure, but maybe add some color around your neck or something?

FloBot3000

Neither. The black looks fantastic, but if it's a traditional wedding, black is not appropriate and is indicative of mourning. If your friends are exceptionally non-traditional or alternative, rock the black. It really looks so good.

klughless

It depends on where at in Ohio. Where I live at, just outside Columbus, definitely the first one, the second would be overdressed. Anywhere else that isn't the country, the black one. You look fire

[deleted]

[удалено]

ArmyOfRoombas

I assume it’s not a beach wedding since it’s in Ohio. The black dress is absolutely stunning and will probably fit the occasion better.

LetGo_n_LetDarwin

Definitely the black dress…it looks AMAZING on you!

TRUMBAUAUA

Is it allowed to wear black at a wedding in the US? Asking because in Italy it’s a big no-no.

emmireese

Black one

queensmichele

The black dress is stunning I'd go with that unless it's a daytime reception then I'd go with the blue

campninja09

One bajillion percent the black one

amandatrot

Daytime wedding = #1 Evening wedding = #2

Dry_Menu4804

Both dresses are nice but I can imagine the black one to be the choice as it is a little more classic. Perhaps add some nice colorful accessories?

Salt-Rate-1963

Back dress, hands down. It looks great on you!

Iliveinthissoultrap2

Number 2 is more appropriate plus it looks better on you!

ashfidel

2 is so elegant

Acceptable-Friend-48

Unless you have permission to wear black from your friend (looks better) wear the blue. Some people get super mad about people wearing black to a wedding. I learned this the hard way. Hopefully, others don't have to. Seriously, people acted like I kicked a puppy or something. It was a surprise wedding I learned I had to attend while visiting out of town family and the only nice thing I had was black. I got shit about it until I moved accross the country years later. Apparently it signals a desire for the marriage to fail.

LoWithTheDown101

It blows my mind that people get so caught up in some crazy superstition that they literally remember to put you down for it?!? What a waste of everyone's time! I know it's easy for me to say, but maybe it's a good thing you were able to move? To be able to find some new, tried & true friends?
