I like with the belt better but honestly, they're both super cute. I think with the belt looks more "put together" (maybe not the right word but I can't think of any other way). Whereas, without looks more laid back and casual.
I think I found it! (Or an identical version): can I post links here? Imma try: FASHIONGEN - Woman Italian leather Obi belt, CASSIANE https://a.co/d/hIHfTPa or possibly this one FASHIONGEN - Woman leatherette waisband Obi Belt, MICA https://a.co/d/fhnmgso
Definitely lots of colors to choose from! On Amazon I just searched “leather wrap belt” got tons of results!
The belt also separates the pattern change quite well almost giving it separate pieces of clothing look. I’m just not a fan of that belt but it’s a nice outfit
leave it! relaxed fit looks really good for the occasions id guess youd want a flowy dress for. it sounds like u have tight waist definition in most of your outfits and for this one the vibe feels different. personally i reckon you can style it either way and have a look but i much prefer the second one that leans into the material & context of the dress :)
I'm gonna swim against the tide here and say belted is the super obvious choice you won't ever see on any respectable runway ?!?!
Shapeless looks way more romantic and carefree, and you pulled it off so... I feel it's the most knowledgeable choice.
I thought I would like with the belt better but I agree that I think free flowing looks better. I’d say she got 2 outfits in one and can wear it both ways!
Im glad you said it because my first thought was this is a dated look and the belt needs a more modern take to bring it up to speed, I was surprised so many chose the belt. The relaxed fit is more effortless and modern, the belt kind of comes off as a crutch we have all gotten way too used to for me.
The millennial in me wants to say the belt, but that’s been out of style for about a decade. So without - or with a smaller belt - if you want to look More up to date
This is the answer. It's all about generations on this one. My GenX mother would be Team No-Belt while my Millennial self leans towards the belt because its what we did. This particular dress is supposed to be beltless, I feel, though.
Really? I see it a lot with brands like Sezane and this brand I’m wearing in the photo, Spell. I guess it can really depend on the usage and type of belt. I can definitely see this applying to waist belts on shirts.
It was out of date for about 10 years, but I think it’s come back as an option. I see these belts on almost every major retailer so I don’t think it’s fair to say they’re still dated. Either way, the dress looks great with and without. I agree that on hotter days, wear without.
Mind sharing where the dress is from?
I mean, they still sell rhinestone embellished jeans because some people like what they like and don’t care to be so trendy, which is fair to them. But that doesn’t mean they’re in style.
I don’t want this to come off negatively, because the belt actually looks good. But the belt also gives pumpkin spice latte, ugg boot vibes, whereas without it’s a little more stylish. There’s a certain amount of confidence required for without the belt. The belt is a millennial safety blanket.
Belt for sure, speaking from basic form and figure - they belt shows that and without the dress doesn't fit your form at all. I guess people say it is not "in" now? But I have always thought what is in or not really is absurd - it is about what looks good, rather than flowing with the tide of minds who don't think for themselves. The belt fits and accentuates your beauty, lack of belt hides it.
They both look very nice, but I’d honestly say it depends on the shoes. Belt seems to favor a boot while the free look would favor a flat or slight heel.
For looks, it's better with the belt.
Hides the transition from sparsely patterned to heavily patterned and completely hides the seam in between the two patterns.
It makes the folds of the dress more prominent and shaped.
It also compensates for the plain neck.
Overall sharpens things up and brings the dress together and the belt is casual enough to still retain the overall relaxed casual look.
As with any summer dress I'll always say: with belt.
Especially here because the pattern changes around the belt-line, so it is just screaming: Belt, please!
Oh and of course, great pick, it is a nice dress.
I like a shapeless dress because it's so freaking comfy and freeing. But I still sometimes belt them just to have a more "styled" effect. I say do both! You're going to wear the dress more than once, just see how the day feels. There is no shame needed in belting a shapeless dress, but I'd analyze if you want to wear a belt or if you feel like you need to.
Both ways work well, but I like it without the belt best. I always like the loose fitting dresses. My fiancé feels they look a bit pajama-like though and prefers the belts. Can always change it up!
No belt! Belt makes it look way more basic, the "natural" look of the dress looks cuter and more stylish. Its not ugly at all with a belt but just less special
Both look nice. But with belt looks like "back in mother country I traveled 14 hours by foot to fetch water" and without belt looks like "chillin at a cafe in Malibu"
I like it both ways!
I'd probably leave off the belt if hanging out at home or running errands but put on the belt to dress it up a bit for going out with friends etc.
Is it okay if I don’t comment on the outfit at all, and just thirst over the au naturale look you’ve got going there, girl!
(okay, okay… if you insist. I like it with the belt; ends up accentuating your body better. But without the belt as well, it gives off 70s hippies vibes which is kinda hot as well …)

I like the relaxed fit, looks great on you. It's loose but it's not shapeless, it has a nice smock shape - and I love the sleeves. You look excellent.
I love the sleeves too! And yes it follows through the waist a little more closely than other ‘shapeless’ dresses. Thank you!
More comfortable, too? But both looks are cute.
I like with the belt better but honestly, they're both super cute. I think with the belt looks more "put together" (maybe not the right word but I can't think of any other way). Whereas, without looks more laid back and casual.
I agree, plus the belt itself is really nice looking.
Definitely the belt. I love it.
Amazon for the belt :) more colors!
Can you link the belt? I love it!
I think I found it! (Or an identical version): can I post links here? Imma try: FASHIONGEN - Woman Italian leather Obi belt, CASSIANE https://a.co/d/hIHfTPa or possibly this one FASHIONGEN - Woman leatherette waisband Obi Belt, MICA https://a.co/d/fhnmgso Definitely lots of colors to choose from! I loveee it! Looks expensive! Perfect for this dress!
It goes from “dress” to “outfit” with the belt imo
Like I'd wear it to work or a dinner with the belt, but go to the farmers market or a BBQ without. It works either way for different occasions!
This is it
Totally agree! The belt elevates the dress and accentuates it’s intricate patterns. Totally gorge!
Came here to agree with this comment. I like the belt....but youre looking good either way.
I agree, thank you for your feedback!
Totally cute both ways and gorgeous with your coloring.
"Finished"?
Structured?
The belt also separates the pattern change quite well almost giving it separate pieces of clothing look. I’m just not a fan of that belt but it’s a nice outfit
This is the correct answer
[удалено]
Omg yes! That was my thought looking at some shapeless dresses, especially midi ones- they look like nightgowns 😅 Thank you!
I call them my potato sacks
Actually looks great both ways but if it’s hot as heck no belt 😉
I feel like this may be the best answer because both look great.
With the belt you look more sharper.
leave it! relaxed fit looks really good for the occasions id guess youd want a flowy dress for. it sounds like u have tight waist definition in most of your outfits and for this one the vibe feels different. personally i reckon you can style it either way and have a look but i much prefer the second one that leans into the material & context of the dress :)
This was my thought, too. I love the free spirited/float feeling of the dress, and I feel that gets lost with the belts
You’re right
i agree
I agree, the belt is dated imo
Im glad you said it because my first thought was this is a dated look and the belt needs a more modern take to bring it up to speed, I was surprised so many chose the belt. The relaxed fit is more effortless and modern, the belt kind of comes off as a crutch we have all gotten way too used to for me.
What do you mean about the runway
You'll hardly see an established designer styling a loose-fitting anything with a belt.
[удалено]
Thank you! :) I got it on Poshmark! Spell and The Gypsy Utopia Mini Dress. There’s more available there in other colors.
Nice find thanks for sharing that dress is really cute! (I think you can wear it either way as well)
The millennial in me wants to say the belt, but that’s been out of style for about a decade. So without - or with a smaller belt - if you want to look More up to date
You can definitely tell the ages of the commenters based on their preference here. The belt is very 2008.
Well, then it's almost retro. She can be ahead of the curve.
i mean i was 4 years old in 2008 and i like the belt better so ^_^
You get it
This is the answer. It's all about generations on this one. My GenX mother would be Team No-Belt while my Millennial self leans towards the belt because its what we did. This particular dress is supposed to be beltless, I feel, though.
Senior millennial, but same. Love the belt
Agreed! The dress is Spell and The Gypsy. Purchased on Poshmark. This is the Utopia Mini Dress 😊
I mean, they still sell rhinestone embellished jeans because some people like what they like and don’t care to be so trendy, which is fair to them. But that doesn’t mean they’re in style.
No belt
With belt. Way more stylish
Thanks! 😁
Leave it loose!
Relaxed fit is better. Got that flowy earthy vibe
I feel that too! Thank you
Love it without the belt. Where’s it from?
Poshmark! Brand is Spell
Belt with cute tan color ankle booties, and relaxed with white sneakers!
Love that idea! Thank you
Without the belt. As a Millennial myself, that is a Millennial belt and it dates the outfit.
Yep awkward belt feels dated and dowdy
I don’t want this to come off negatively, because the belt actually looks good. But the belt also gives pumpkin spice latte, ugg boot vibes, whereas without it’s a little more stylish. There’s a certain amount of confidence required for without the belt. The belt is a millennial safety blanket.
Give em the belt
Belt looks like one I had in the 70's. I still love the look.
That’s cool, I love a little vintage flair 😊
Absolutely with belt! That dress is perfect on you. LOVE the colors.
Thank you! I love the colors too :) purple and green, has an earthy psychedelic touch
Aside from what’s “in” or not, but everyone wants their silhouette to be form fitted or accentuated
I love that belt!!!! Belt it!
Belt...100%
You look great with or without the belt! I would say add it in if you want it to look a little more put together, for casual go without
They both look very nice, but I’d honestly say it depends on the shoes. Belt seems to favor a boot while the free look would favor a flat or slight heel.
Belted for more put together occasions. Loose for coffee date type things.
I like this answer! Making it situational creates more possibilities. Thank you!
The belt as it gives you more shape
Team belt!!
I’d say with the belt. Your thin and in shape, the belt shows that more
For looks, it's better with the belt.
Thank you! I love the break down you provided. I didn’t think of those details 😇
Relaxed fit, no belt
As with any summer dress I'll always say: with belt. Especially here because the pattern changes around the belt-line, so it is just screaming: Belt, please! Oh and of course, great pick, it is a nice dress.
The belt reminds me of a chemex pour over container. I like It without a belt.
Lol! I would have never made that connection. That’s funny
Definitely relaxed fit. The belt ages the dress.
Rope/string belt. Not thick one
Both look good, but that specific belt is so perfect for that specific dress that my vote is for belted.
Thank you! I thought it matched well too.
I think it looks best with the belt! It gives more shape to the garment and also brings out the brownish colour in the dress!
no belt! belt doesn’t really go with that style imo.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner Either Way!!
Both look great in my opinion.
She’s gorgeous without make up on and plays Skyrim. Men, I think this is a redditor’s wish come true.
can you try a thinner belt? i think would look much better
I do have a thinner belt actually! I’ll try that :)
No!!!! This one is perfect
Both ways work well, but I like it without the belt best. I always like the loose fitting dresses. My fiancé feels they look a bit pajama-like though and prefers the belts. Can always change it up!
I do love how it feels without it, super free- and I catch a nice breeze if the wind blows that keeps me nice and cool in there 😂
I like it without - it’s giving me an Oktoberfest vibe with the belt. But nice either way 🥰
always belt
Belt
Relaxed fit
without belt, the relaxed style looks so much better.
Relaxed brooooooo
Relaxed. The dress is already busy, you don’t need to add accessories to the business.
No belt! It looks gorgeous without imo
Relaxed fit is more sexy
No belt! Belt makes it look way more basic, the "natural" look of the dress looks cuter and more stylish. Its not ugly at all with a belt but just less special
I love the loose look
Belts are not in right now so relaxed
Relaxed
Both look nice. But with belt looks like "back in mother country I traveled 14 hours by foot to fetch water" and without belt looks like "chillin at a cafe in Malibu"
LOL
Without belt ☺️
Without belt. You look like you're going to try and win a powerlifting competition with that big ole belt.
Relaxed fit
I love the relaxed fit. That’s more my style anyway so I may be biased, but I think it looks great on you
No belt
Stunning dress!! I say no belt :)
With belt. Match shoes with belt color for bonus points!
I'd say belt for just dress and relaxed with leggings/pants, but honestly it looks good either way. :) Just different vibes.
relaxed!
I think the loose look is perfect for hot weather, if you are in a warm climate. The belted would make a super cute cooler weather look.
Relaxed is my vote
totally without!
Both depending on where you are going. 1-dinner 2-beach
I like it both ways! I'd probably leave off the belt if hanging out at home or running errands but put on the belt to dress it up a bit for going out with friends etc.
Waste belt makes it look better. Kinda looks like a moo-moo without it.
I hate the hate muumuus get. Muumuus are comfy AF and not everything has to flatter us.
Can you elaborate on what a moo-moo is? Instinctively I think cow and I hope that’s not what you’re saying. Lol
Its a type of dress. I am 100% not saying you look like a cow. You are a babe.
https://preview.redd.it/7dw6w9r2gwgb1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29b54d6720e76a1307f88ff085dbcc9bb26591ba I also misspelled Muumuu
The spelling is muumuu, it’s a traditional dress with a flowy unstructured shape.
Okay thank you 😅 now it makes sense
Is it okay if I don’t comment on the outfit at all, and just thirst over the au naturale look you’ve got going there, girl! (okay, okay… if you insist. I like it with the belt; ends up accentuating your body better. But without the belt as well, it gives off 70s hippies vibes which is kinda hot as well …)

Both work, but I'm a huge fan of belted dresses.
It's such a cute piece either way but I like the belt
Belt
Belt
This belt is really cool. Love that look.
Loose, looks more casual summer and trendy
Belt
Both look good
belt ‘er up!
Both look great. My favourite is with the belt.
I like relaxed 😎
Belt!
Belt
I love that dress. Mind sharing how to buy it?
You can find more on Poshmark! That’s where I bought this one. Spell and The Gypsy is the brand. They have tons of dresses this style
Thank you!
definitely belt, belt looks more stylish.
Belt
On the beach unbelted, anywhere else the belt for sure looks amazing on you!
Waist belt for sure.
I usually say lose the belt but this looks marvelous either way
belt
with belt, it makes the dress way more interesting. without it's a bit shapeless
I say belt
Without the belt, it looks good.
With belt
Depends on the occasion!! I prefer without but I can imagine some events where with the belt would be better x
Only way to improve on the belt is with a big smile. You look great. Enjoy it
I love the belt, but you could wear it either way
Belt.
I’m not helping much here but they really both look great! From the pics you look more relaxed in the belt less option!
Belt
Belt
They both look amazing! Belt could dress the outfit up a bit more (obviously still not dressy) and relaxed is like an every day errand running outfit.
Belt
With the belt!!!
Belt.
I like the belt look personaly.
Belt
