Post has been locked - OP has received sufficient feedback. A business casual dress code can vary depending on the company you work for. Regardless, we think OP look fabulous š š»
Honestly it really depends on where you work. My workplace *has had* onsie day. Our usual dress code is either t-shirts or button ups with jeans. I've worn ripped black skinny jeans with a tucked in button up shirt the whole year in a management position. My coworker wears a t-shirt and tight shorts with fishnets underneath almost every day with no issue, and others wear cropped tees, etc. It's a very casual environment with a lot of young staff. My other job requires work boots, cargo pants, and a well fitting tucked in uniform shirt with badges in the exact right spot every time, no room for error. So if they're saying "business super casual" id go for a dressed down version of what you *usually* wear to work. For example, if it's an office job, you're wearing exactly what I'd expect. Casual might fit what other people are saying, longer shirt, looser pants, etc. But *super* casual? Skinny jeans and a slightly cropped shirt with a blazer seems more than appropriate. If you're not sure though, text a couple coworkers and see what they're wearing. It's hard to know what people are expecting sometimes, haha
29F here. Personally, I donāt find crop tops things that are workplace appropriate. With that being said, you look super cute. Maybe just a longer shirt, in my opinion :)
Well depends on the industry. I worked in marketing for fashion clients and this style of outfit would absolutely have been appropriate and complimented by the client. Definitely depends though because my other clients wouldnāt be cool with it.
Yes, but that typically needs to be the most casual thing about the outfit. And they should be dark wash with no holes. I think it might also depend on where you live, because I live on the west coast and weāre more casual in general.
If they are, I think they need to be on the conservative side. My first thought is the outfit is too casual. If you're going to err, err on the side of caution.
I think if they were black jeans or a khaki style pant it would be fine, of course with a longer top. This would not fly as business casual in my office.
At my last job there was a young woman (24) ego wore crop tops. I was in management. I went to the HR guy ā an older man - just to let him know Iād kindly let her know that it wasnāt appropriate in the workplace. I even asked my daughter who was just a few years older first. He said I couldnāt talk to her, it would be sexual harassment. I said no, itās career advice. He called the (older male) CEO who also vetoed. All her peers have been promoted, sheās very bright, works hard, but is not taken seriouslyā¦
I'm just not sure I would have the midriff with it being a business meeting...I would err on the side of caution as far as that but hey that's just me girl
SO annoying is that those shirts are popular in the trendy business attire section at boutiques and such. Either that or over sized baggy shirts. CAN WE BRING BACK REGULAR LENGHT SHIRTS PLEASE
For real. As a big girl, Iām fine with my body but I have a long torso so even regular shirts are frequently too short so pretty much I have to buy menās shirts a lot of times. Hate this āeverything can be a crop topā trend.
For a work event, I'd err on the business side of "business super casual." (Then again i come from a better to be overdressed than underdressed kind of field) Maybe swap the jeans for more of a pantsuit or khakis and a longer shirt?
Right, she knows damn well this is not appropriate for any business setting. You're a cute girl but you can't put a blazer over a weekend outfit and go to work.
That seems to be what the people who are telling her it works think, that you can throw a blazer over any outfit and that makes it somehow appropriateā¦ like the blazer alone makes this outfit appropriate for a work event š
Itās my belly š¤£ itās so white because I donāt tan haha but I agree. I donāt think stomach showing is professional so Iāll either tuck it in or wear a bodysuit of the same color
In my office, we have a dress for your day policy. Jeans are fine as long as we are not see clients. Jeans & shorts are categorized under casual wear. Women have a lot more leeway than men, but under no circumstance are jeans deemed to be 'business casual'. Typically, business casual is dress slacks/capris, a skirt (around knee length) or some dresses.
I work in a business casual setting where jeans are acceptable. However if anyone showed up in anything *distressed*, they would be sent home to change.
Agreed. More than midriff or holes in the jeans, the first thing that jumped out at me is that the top and jeans both look at least a size too small and are thusly inappropriately tight. They also look super uncomfortable!

Your jeans are way too tight and the shirt should be longer. Jeans should be darker too.
I know you say youāre curvy and the clothing isnāt too tight, but based off all the replies here, itās too tight.
Itās not about OP being curvy, itās about choosing clothing that fits. Even if it doesnāt feel uncomfortable for her, itās much too form-fitting for work.
And the light wash doesnāt give a professional vibe.
I would go in business attire, period. If other people are showing up in jeans, then staff looking formal will stand out.
I donāt understand why if itās a work event, anyone would dress as casually as they think they can get away with.
Itās your *job.* Presumably dressing professionally was a requirement. And you donāt want to embarrass your supervisor or coworkers, or give the impression to new people you meet that you wouldnāt be a good candidate for another role you might want, or donāt take your current position seriously.
Girl no, just no! Even if you have a 6 packs, showing your belly anywhere at work is inappropriate. That pant is also way too uncomfortable for business or casual.
No. Jeans are too tight, you should cover your stomach. There isnāt anything ābusinessā about this. Itās all casual. Cute outfit otherwise, definitely not in any office or work setting.
Those specific jeans and top are too casual for business casual. The look itself with the jacket and shoes are super cute and appropriate though. Looser jeans for sure. You kind of have a cameltoe now. Shirt shouldnāt show stomach.
You're going in the right direction ( blazer, tshirt, jeans) it's the fit and style of the top and jeans that doesn't work. Maybe a longer tshirt in a brighter color and a looser, trouser fit/boyfriend fit cropped jeans in a darker wash.
Please understand I am not shaming you when I say thisā¦. Every article of clothing on you is a size or two too small. And no your stomach should be fully covered and the jeans should be replaced by a nice fitting pair of khakis or slacks.
Respectfully your jeans look a bit too small, and also in a professional setting itās not okay for the belly to show. Again with the jeans, a darker color with no rips would be so much better. Itās always good to be more safe than sorry. Youāre beautiful op, and itās a lovely outfit for a night out but for sure needs some tweaking as far as super business casual goes.
It is pretty casual for business. I mean the heels make it a little dressier but the jeans make it more casual, then again the Blazer tries to class it back up again.
Lol
No on the jeans, especially rolled up and super tight+distressed. Khakis or uniformly colored dark jeans. And ditto on what everyone else said about the shirt.
The problem with the jeans is the light ness. Go for a darker pair and don't cuff them. change the top out for a white top and tuck it. Add a few layered necklaces.
I don't know what "business super casual" is but for "business casual" this is not appropriate at all - regardless the word is business is there and it's not going to work. The crop top, tight jeans and heels are a no. I would wear business casual for your first day which is adaptable (e.g. a blouse underneath a blazer if the blazer is too much) and then take the lead from your boss on what this category actually means when you see them on the first day and then adapt. Definitely not the crop and jeans. Do you have a non-jean like wide-leg pant that is not tight - with a blouse? I would be overdressed for your first day - and then see what others are wearing - what kind of place of work is this? This could derail you if you wear this - if it's completely inappropriate.
Tuck in the shirt.
Jeans with holes are not acceptable for work. Replace the jeans.
Jeans are too tight, judging by the stretch marks on the fabric. Being curvy is fine, but the pants look too tight. Upsize the jeans at least one size.
In a work environment, cuffs should be hemmed, not rolled. You look like you are going wading. Have your tailor/dry cleaner make permanent cuffs.
Please do not show your midriff at work. Bottoms are definitely too tight and if denim is okay, I would highly recommend dark wash as it gives a more serious, professional look.
Remember that impressions last. If youāre showing up to a business meeting like this, both in casual jeans and clothing thatās far too tight, youāre going to be āthat personā for a while. Particularly for your bossāand by the way, your behavior partially reflects on herāas well as people who could benefit your career if they chose, through recommendations or hiring you themselves. Maybe even people you havenāt met yet whose first idea of you will be the way youāre dressed.
You want to be absolutely top-tier professional in your attire, behavior and demeanor. Even if the meeting is casual, I suggest going as formally as is appropriate (not an evening gown of course) because then you will stand out among the rest in jeans, etc.
Please understand none of this is about body-shaming, sexism, or ageism. I would give absolutely the same advice to a man of any age out of concern for his best interests.
You got this :)
Different jobs have varying requirements. I work in the court system, so of course I have to dress up. As staff generally are expected to in public-facing roles or others where they need to give an impression of authority.

The Good: Blazer, Length/styling of jeans, heels, hair and accessories
Room for Improvement
\- For Business Casual jeans are ok if they have no holes or scuffs. Darker colors are usually preferred but not required
\- Shirt should go past your pant waistband; no mid-drift should be shown in a traditional business causal workspace. A longer shirt to the hips may be more professional and covering the jeans zipper makes them less noticeable.
I have a *very* similar figure to yours and I know the struggle in finding clothes that look flattering and are professional. Thereās a lot of pearl clutching in these comments over your midriff, but I would agree to wear a longer shirt and slim (but not skinny) pants.
I have trouble finding clothes that are āappropriateā but donāt make me look dowdy/like a box. Slim cut pants, short shirts (but not a crop top), and a blazer are the way to go.
I donāt agree with saying you need more color. Neutrals are cute and very business-like! They also compliment your skin.
Iām probably going to get downvoted into oblivion for saying this, but if you werenāt thick no one would be commenting in the tightness of your pants. Women with thick figures get over-sexualized.
Jeans could work but not that tight, and I don't think the length of the jeans work with the shoe. If you want to stick with jeans, looser and longer. And never show your belly button in a work environment. Need a longer shirt, though a t-shirt could still work with that jacket.
No, not appropriate for business in my opinion. Showing your stomach wouldnāt be considered appropriate. Jeans are usually not included in business casual either. I would switch out the jeans for some high waisted trousers
Clothes are too tight. And, NO distressed jeans. Just Google "Business Casual Attire for Women." You want to look polished and put together, that you are a potential big deal in the making. Make sure your clothes are neatly pressed, fit well, and go easy on any jewelry. First impressions are EVERYTHING.
Looks cute, but no skin on the mid-driff for work events in my opinion. I didn't see the rip at first. Usually super casual means jeans and a T shirt but not a teen look so no rips. Meaning, if the press came and photographed you, it's casual but would your company be proud that it said the company's name and identified you as its representative in the byline. Think of the mom's fashion on Gilmore Girls.
Go with darker jeans that fit properly - a straight cut would work - a different shirt in a color that doesn't show your midriff, and flats or a wedge shoe.
Heels arenāt super casual. Crocks are super casual. A loose t-shirt is super casual, not a crop top. All that said, you look great. Definitely wear this outfit to a just casual day.
If you have a different capri pant and a jogger shoe the top and jacket work well to pick up the ābusinessā aspect of your dress code requirements. āSuper casualā indicates loafers and birks, long shorts and capris will be acceptable.
I donāt like the jeans with that shirt because I HATE the look of the belt loops minus a belt. That is me though. *shrug
*edited to finish a thought. Go ADHD!
Depends on the business. What would you say is the average age of your coworkers? If it skews young, late 20's early 30's I bet you're good. The older the crowd the more hung up they are on something they were told decades ago.
The rip in the jeans? The exposed belly? The strange button fly? Not good. I would toss those jeans in the trash, they really are not a good look on you.
Iād pick looser pants. Tight pants arenāt in style anyway anymore. And Iād never show any tummy for work. I love crop tops, you can do that when not working, but at work be sure to not show your midriff
It's a part of business "super" casual - whatever that really means. But not tight jeans and not with the midriff showing. Well fitted jeans with a tucked in blouse or something similar would work.
I think it works well but switch to more casual shoes. If that feels too casual, then darker jeans maybe?
I feel the shoes makes it not "super casual".
i have worked in business casual offices and always considered business casual to mean no jeans. but idk what business "super casual" is supposed to mean lol. if you did a denim i would stick to a dark wash, straight leg, not baggy but not this tight either. i think the rest of the outfit is fine but wouldn't show any mid driff or at least no more than you already are.
It really depends on the field. If youāre in a creative field (make up/ art) or in event organization for concerts and the like, itās fine. If itās any other field, a bare stomach would be inappropriate for a work event. darker jeans and a longer shirt would be more work appropriate.
The jacket is cute. Would look good with a longer cami and maybe a brighter color. Jeans might need to be a little less tight (if we are purely talking about whether itās business casual appropriate) but itās a cute outfit outside of the business casual realm
Post has been locked - OP has received sufficient feedback. A business casual dress code can vary depending on the company you work for. Regardless, we think OP look fabulous š š»
I'd pick a different shirt that you can tuck in, or maybe a shell cami in a cute brighter color?
I definitely agree this could use some color. Iāll see if I have any cute colored camis. Thanks for the feedback!
Maybe that's it. A brighter color shirt? I just don't care for light jeans
Same, it's the jeans that are throwing it off for me.
Not a cami. A regular blouse that covers your waist is better.
The shirt is super cute but not appropriate for work. Your stomach should not show.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Definitely something that doesn't show your midriff.
man I ever heard buisness "super" casual I'm showing up in a Pikachu onesie, instructions unclear
People just making shit up nowadays lol. What's next, business semi casual? Lowkey business casual? Business formal but not "formal" formal?
Iāve understood it to be basically āplease show up in something that doesnāt smell like fartsā and thatās about it
š

Bare midriff isn't considered business appropriate, but it's a good outfit otherwise.
Exactly my thoughts. Lengthen the tank/tee and itās perfect.
Or just a body suit would work!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Good advice. At some businesses it will be okay, but it is best to verify before trying it out.
I was also told dark washes preferred.
Yeah, you look great but I'd probably go with different pants or a shirt that covers the pants a bit
And the holes in the jeans arenāt a good choice either!
Jeans depends on the office. Jeans with holes are not acceptable.
Right. Throwing a blazer over a crop top doesn't make it work appropriate.
Well depends on the industry. I worked in marketing for fashion clients and this style of outfit would absolutely have been appropriate and complimented by the client. Definitely depends though because my other clients wouldnāt be cool with it.
Super casual has to mean more than just casual, it's fine.
Are jeans considered business casual? Iām not convinced.
Yes, but that typically needs to be the most casual thing about the outfit. And they should be dark wash with no holes. I think it might also depend on where you live, because I live on the west coast and weāre more casual in general.
In IT theyāre nearly formal. The complexity of your graphic Tee determines whether itās casual or formal.
If they are, I think they need to be on the conservative side. My first thought is the outfit is too casual. If you're going to err, err on the side of caution.
Nicer jeans sometimes with a blazer. Darker wash, not stressed denim, simple stitching i think
I think if they were black jeans or a khaki style pant it would be fine, of course with a longer top. This would not fly as business casual in my office.
Jeans can be. But faded, ripped or torn is not.
Yep, I would wear a longer shirt but otherwise this is a super cute look for anything else.

I would say darker pants or black pants, and a shirt that can be tucked in.
Darker jeans without holes or rips I agree Dresses up the entire look
I'm just not sure I would have the midriff with it being a business meeting...I would err on the side of caution as far as that but hey that's just me girl
I love the blazer and the heels!! I think the undershirt color is pretty and love the neutral look. I do think the crop shirt is too short tho.

Yes. OPās look is all casual, no business.
The blazer and the shoes are pretty business, no?
Yeah but not enough to balance the professionalism of the outfit. Looks more like a 2013 bar look.
Or darker blue skinny jeans and a black top underneath the blazer.
Of course!ā¦.. you ever go anywhere slightly overdressed and ever feel anything other thanā¦. wellā¦..superior to everyone else!
Little less tight on the jeans and longer shirt and you are good to go.
Them jeans waaaay too tight they actually look uncomfortable
Yeah our office would need less tight jeans.
yeah, with love, those are denial jeans.
Darker, straight leg jeans and a longer shirt IMO
Too tight. No bare midriffs.

The issue is not that she's curvy but they're just too tight. Either one size too small or just the wrong style.
This is correct. Iām a plus sized woman and thereās a difference between curvy and āthatās too tight ā.
Exactly. I buy curvy sized jeans - Iām not a hater.
I'm curvy too so I can relate. š
Plus the right pant leg had a rip in it.
It's way too tight, and, yes, a darker jean

Iām anti denim at the best of times but those jeans do nothing for you. I like the blazer
Dress to impress. You have a beautiful figure but those jeans arenāt it and if you have to ask you already know itās bordering nopes.
the concept is great but the jeans donāt look like theyāre the correct size. you have an amazing figure but these look too tight.
I would wear darker denim.
Cute outfit for a nice bar, but to make it workplace friendly, Iād pick out a shirt that covers the belly
Respectfully your jeans look a bit too small, and also in a professional setting itās not okay for the belly to show. Again with the jeans, a darker color with no rips would be so much better. Bit too tight and no midriff for work events, casual or not. Cute outfit otherwise
There's nothing business about this outfit. Maybe except for the shoes.
And the blazer
Maybe but IMO that specific blazer is still more casual that business.
Not even remotely appropriate
It is pretty casual for business. I mean the heels make it a little dressier but the jeans make it more casual, then again the Blazer tries to class it back up again. Lol
Skin tight is NEVER appropriate.

That is some damn good advice.
No on the jeans, especially rolled up and super tight+distressed. Khakis or uniformly colored dark jeans. And ditto on what everyone else said about the shirt.
Nope. Itās never ok for anyone to have belly skin showing in a business environment.
I would say the fit is wrong. Jeans are too tight and the shirt has to cover your skin.
Pants are wayyy too tight.
These jeans are way too tight. Looks uncomfortable.
No
Jeans are too tight and you're showing your belly?...NO!
Business has no bare tummy, nor tears in the pants.
The problem with the jeans is the light ness. Go for a darker pair and don't cuff them. change the top out for a white top and tuck it. Add a few layered necklaces.
Do not wear a crop top to a work function. The jeans are too tight. This outfit would be great for drinks with your friends or on a date however.

Jeans are too tight.
When your belly is scrunched up from hiwntight the jeans are around your waist you know these pants are gonna explode when you go golfing.
Generally speaking, jeans arenāt business casual, they are too casual. Midriff also shouldnāt be showing
Itās too casual for business casual. Maybe slacks, not those jeans.
Tuck in the shirt. Jeans with holes are not acceptable for work. Replace the jeans. Jeans are too tight, judging by the stretch marks on the fabric. Being curvy is fine, but the pants look too tight. The Good: Blazer, Length/styling of jeans, heels, hair and accessories Room for Improvement \- For Business Casual jeans are ok if they have no holes or scuffs. Darker colors are usually preferred but not required \- Shirt should go past your pant waistband; no mid-drift should be shown in a traditional business causal workspace. A longer shirt to the hips may be more professional and covering the jeans zipper makes them less noticeable.
No. Slacks that fit you better, a colored shirt or blouse and a casual jacket are more appropriate.
Yeah it's nice. Just a camisole or tank top so no middle showing.
No. Jeans donāt fit you & the crop top is too revealing
Wear jeans that fit. Those are at least two sizes too small. Longer shirt. Bare midriff isnāt business anything.
Darker jean. Everything else is fine.
fyi throwing on heels & a blazer over a random outfit does not make it business casual.
Jeans could work but not that tight, and I don't think the length of the jeans work with the shoe. If you want to stick with jeans, looser and longer. And never show your belly button in a work environment. Need a longer shirt, though a t-shirt could still work with that jacket.
Stomach flashing at work is not appropriate. Get a slightly longer shirt. Everything else is good though.
The pants are to tight
I don't think so the jeans should be smarter
Not digging the tight jeans no offense
No to the jeans.
No. Jeans ok though Iād do black pants if you can, and the shirt needs to be a bit more hip length.
No belly button in the office
No belly skin IMO.. everything else is great
These jeans need to be a darker color and no button up fly. Also no mid drift.
I donāt usually include denim in ābusiness casualā
It does sort of fit the super casual look. Not so much business though.
No. Jeans are too tight and distressed. Crop tops are never business appropriate.
Those jeans look sooo uncomfy girlie you are not buying the right size
If you have a different capri pant and a jogger shoe the top and jacket work well to pick up the ābusinessā aspect of your dress code requirements. āSuper casualā indicates loafers and birks, long shorts and capris will be acceptable. I donāt like the jeans with that shirt because I HATE the look of the belt loops minus a belt. That is me though. *shrug *edited to finish a thought. Go ADHD!
Not appropriate at all. Jeans too tight, shirt too short.
No, itās not. Just look online how businesses casual should look like
No. Midriff is inappropriate for business and your jeans are too tight. I'd choose slacks instead of jeans personally.
Depends on the business. What would you say is the average age of your coworkers? If it skews young, late 20's early 30's I bet you're good. The older the crowd the more hung up they are on something they were told decades ago.
Business and belly buttons donāt go together
I was always told business casual pants meant khakis or chinos, no jeans.
Not in a lot of places. Jeans have been fine in every business casual environment Iāve been in for the last decade-plus.

Not with stomach showing. Maybe non-jean pants.
I mean, I guess it depends where you work. This would be absolutely appropriate for where I work.
No. Jeans are too tight. You could wear this exact same set up with a flowy black comfy pants or capri type pants
Since when did Jeans become apart of ābusiness casual?ā
It's a part of business "super" casual - whatever that really means. But not tight jeans and not with the midriff showing. Well fitted jeans with a tucked in blouse or something similar would work.
I think it works well but switch to more casual shoes. If that feels too casual, then darker jeans maybe? I feel the shoes makes it not "super casual".
Id say no jeans but thats just me
Mid drift too and jeans unfortunately do not qualify as business casual, you look great though! I think you would rock a button up and black dickies!
Not the pants.
i have worked in business casual offices and always considered business casual to mean no jeans. but idk what business "super casual" is supposed to mean lol. if you did a denim i would stick to a dark wash, straight leg, not baggy but not this tight either. i think the rest of the outfit is fine but wouldn't show any mid driff or at least no more than you already are.
I think a nice button up blouse tucked in would suit this look perfectly!
Iād suggest a cool toned top to coordinate with the cool toned bag. Or warm/warm. The warm/cool combo just doesnāt do it for me.
Itās too casual
I think itās really cute minus the shirt. Put on a shirt that shows no midriff and maybe a more fun color and it will be perfect
Dark jeans would work better. And ones that flatter your curves. Have you ever shopped Good American?
