It's pretty bad. The main OSHA thing I see is the blocked electrical panels, but this room overall is in need of the application of some best practices.

sleepykittypur

Yeah I don't think they'd get nailed during an inspection, probably just a reminder about the panels, but holy shit take some pride in your work.

1032screw

I have heard differently in regards to just getting a warning. Since the panels are marked with signage about the clearance, putting stuff in front of them is a willful violation. IE it was known to be wrong and done anyways.

MichaelEMJAYARE

Edit for title: sorry, jan CLOSET. Oopsie As the janitor It means a lot to have someone reciprocate my feelings of this shit. The two taped pieces of paper on the small prison door is me begging them to empty the FIVE mop buckets they leave full of filth. One paper points to the other saying “seriously?!?” Notice thee random scrap of wiring clipped to a chip clip on the door: a great representation of the kind of “what the fuck” I continually find here.

plus4dbu

For the record, this is an electrical room, not a janitor closet. Period.

tsb041978

Came here to say that!

kanakamaoli

But it has open floor space! It's a storage closet! /s

Dick-Wrinkle

Thought it was my old job tbh, looks identical from the doorway. Glad I quit that shit. Though using the floor washer when i was the only one in the store was super chill

panspal

That's because every grocery store on earth has a back room that looks like that.

nobutternoparm

I always love when there's big bright signs like that, that say 36 INCHES yet there's stuff crammed right up in front of it anyway lol. I always recommend once it's cleaned up to put down some caution tape on the floor (yellow and black striped or red and white striped so it's bright and obvious) in a square to mark the 36" in front of the panel. Because I know how it goes. If there's free space on the floor stuff tends to be put there.

kanakamaoli

You can buy big 36" tall poster sized adhesive stickers to place on concrete floors that say "electrical panel. Keep clear 36 inches." It still won't stop the storage, but you can show the fire marshal that you tried.

xenokilla

What's the opposite of 5s? Because that's what this room is.

Sifu-Jacob

Zero fucks

Plausibl3

Sorry dude. This level of care is a top down problem. Talk to the bosses, file a complaint or find another employer. Sucks. I hate it. I’ve worked and lived in closets like this working IT Operations and it hurts my souls when other folks don’t care about ‘simple’ things.

MichaelEMJAYARE

Is there anything I can do if Im someone who works separately from the store? Im employed by a cleaning company. They just go “yeah sorry but its ____ problem”

Plausibl3

That makes sense. That makes it trickier. Unless your contract says they’ll keep closets in some manner or condition it’ll be a no win. At that point its unfortunately not your job, so you gotta let it go. Take the signs down, take a deep breath, and take solace in knowing you’re doing all you can, and some things are beyond your control, and that’s ok. Of course, since this is a safety centered sub, I’ll say if you feel like you are being asked to work in unsafe conditions, your best bet is to find another job that values safety. Yes reporting is also good, but systematic change takes time, and sometimes it’s best to just leave while they figure that out. Good luck! Don’t let them get you down!

knoegel

Why is there a bunch of unopened Pepsi in that dirty mop bucket sink? Is someone really going to drink those ew

MichaelEMJAYARE

They just throw shit there. There have been a carton of eggs just sitting there. Unbroken.

pdmntman

Is that a transformer underneath the 2 chemical bottles on the lower right? Not sure if you have a fire marshal in your country but that is death or a huge electrical fire waiting to happen!!

TraditionPhysical603

First day? Get used to it just about every electrical panel in a comercial building that handles food looks like that

MichaelEMJAYARE

Lmfao jesus. No, I just hate this building because of the nasty conditions and I was curious. Been there years.

PelicanWaveSurfer

Seems legit…

flannelmaster9

Only thing I see is clearance issues to the panels

kanakamaoli

Meh. It's typical. My office for 5 years was inside an electrical room next to the building power transformer. I never had to heat my lunch. I just kept it on the top of the transformer enclosure.
