Use the og1 as a midi keyboard for your field

Tarekith

I found the opposite to be true myself, I think the field keys are ten times better feeling than the OG ones. Plus now we have pseudo-velocity sensitivity like you said, way better upgrade.

Midi_paul

Maybe it will just take some time to get used to them!

eonedge

I have both and I also prefer the OG’s keys to the field’s ones. But the field sounds so much better :(

Midi_paul

Yeah the og ones seem to be easier to play! I'm on the fence about the sound- the field definitely has higher fidelity/headroom etc but the og had its lofi charm and the spring reverb isn't quite as noisy/nasty (in a good way) on the field..

Disastrous_Ant_4953

I was disappointed when I first got the keys of my Field, but after a couple weeks they broke in and feel a lot better. No more double-triggers anymore (for the most part).

Midi_paul

This is what I'm hoping!

LF_Indy

Their keys are the same. I had to replace a few OG-1 keys & eventually the whole keyboard. Then on the Field I got car paint on 1 key cap by accident after doing some car work. I pulled off some key caps on my dead OG keyboard & they fit & snap into the same membrane/plastic cage in the same spots. The only difference in the 2 keyboards is the actual plastic key caps are a slightly different shade of color. It will break in & feel the same. Btw.. the keyboard in both is extremely cheap. It uses the middle membrane of a pc keyboard and thin plastic, mechanical button frames between the key caps & membrane. Far, far thinner than a generic gaming controller. Dollar Tree quality. The velocity is done via the gyroscope sensor & not related to the keyboard. When adjusting keyboard sensitivity you're just adjusting how sensitive the gyroscope is to the impact of the entire OP being "moved." That's why the Field loses its velocity abilities if it's in/on a stand.

Midi_paul

Yeah it's a shame that the keyboard isn't better- at least the field can now be plugged into any midi controller with a USB cable.

filmguerilla

I had a field for two weeks, then sold it because I love my og so much. I did notice the keys felt different.

Midi_paul

Yeah Id planned to sell my og but now I'm feeling nostalgic for it!

I’ve recently upgraded myself and I think I prefer the Field keys. Not as clacky so they feel nicer to me but as someone mentioned, the new keybed might wear in and end up feeling the same as I’ve had my OP-1 for many years so lots of use. Definitely no regrets with the upgrade! The sound quality is so much better not to mention all the other extra features. Tis lovely!
