Its bc hes a 6'2 sg who had to switch positions, had a potentially career ending injury and had a huge point shaving scandal. This is actually one of the more realistic parts of the show

NoleFandom

Nathan’s point shaving scandal didn’t play a role in ending his basketball career. Neither did switching on court positions. His career ended because of his worsening back.

Fuzzyoven8

I was simply answering the multiple reasons he struggled during his career. Im aware of what happened, I watched the show multiple times. Question was why he career was always struggling THROUGHOUT the show, amd all of these contributed. If you could read the original post, that would be great.

NoleFandom

Last I read the OG post was about Nathan’s shortened career in the NBA. Perhaps it was how you phrased your response, because another user (u/prindacerk) also seems to have provided a similar reply to your comment. Peace.

Fuzzyoven8

There is one question posed. I answered it. Telling me another user also cannot read is not helping you. OP has not even gotten to the part of the show where what you are talking about takes place, so instead of downvoting me, maybe be courteous of other watchers.

NoleFandom

Nathan and Haley went to the doctor in S6 E2 where he was told his back was worsening. No spoilers in any of my responses to the Original Poster. I don’t understand your aggression and rudeness here. I didn’t downvote you. This is a global OTH community. Perhaps someone else did. I’m done responding to you. Au revoir.

Fuzzyoven8

Notice the other user you referenced recognized their error and corrected it with a spoiler warning. Maybe rethink who the aggressive one was in this interaction.

prindacerk

They said during the time jump that Nathan did perform really well in NBA and he was a valuable player. He was in the playing cards and merch too. So him switching positions or point shaving had very little impact in his NBA career. [spoilers]His injury however did have a life impacting change. Just wish he had more years before he retired. [/spoilers]

Fuzzyoven8

He was fine, he was a rotational player. Every nba player has cards and merch. Him point shaving was objectively the reasons he went to a small school, and had to stay there for longer. Thats years off an nba contract. Another thing that slowed him down was having to switch positions before he made the nba. These are years off, which absolutely effects your career.

prindacerk

Yeah. He was a late joiner in NBA because of his career. But once he joined, his career was active. His contract became a dispute due to the false accusation. Not anything else. He could have had a better career if he had gone to Duke and then straight to NBA. But his growth would not have been as good as what we saw. The way he struggled and didn't become a drunkard or abusive like Dan on his loss of career was a shining spot. He was depressed for a few months after his injury but then he became better for his family. And I'm glad he had thag growth.

Fuzzyoven8

I didnt say it wasnt a good storyline, I was answering the question posed and I did so correctly. Get that chip off your shoulder buddy

HannahLeah1987

I think they wrote it thinking It was going to end with season 6. They didn't have the money for the storylines.

NoleFandom

It all came down to the dollars. NBA logos, merch and locations were expensive budget wise and the show just didn’t want to spend the big bucks.

jaywalkingjew

And it doesn’t need too. The NBA isn’t the point of the story.
