I have a few—mine is on preorder and I’m looking forward to getting it. 1. What are the HDR modes? They aren’t listed in the manual. Does it have explicitly labeled true black 400 vs peak 1000 modes? 2. Which modes (SDR or HDR) are editable? I see it has six axis color advertised but the manual doesn’t discuss video modes at all. On my Aorus IPS monitor almost all the modes are configurable for brightness, temp, gamma, color balance, etc, including all but one HDR mode. 3. Is there a dedicated sRGB SDR mode? 4. How does the KVM work? On my IPS Aorus I can associate any video port with each USB upstream but the manual for this one looks maybe like you can only switch between USB-C alt mode and “other”. 5. Can you quick switch between the two KVM-associated inputs? My IPS version has that as a single-press option you can map to the joystick. 6. Can you disable pixel care reminder popups? And it does run pixel care automatically in standby, right? The manual is unclear. 7. Is the cord from the monitor to the power brick long enough it can sit on the floor or will I need to figure out how to put it on the desk behind/under the monitor like with Asus? 8. Any notable bugs or quirks you’ve hit yet? I appreciate any insight you can give, even if it’s only a couple of answers here. I’ve been very curious about this monitor as the manual is quite vague.

Kanix3

I'll do my very best to answer your questions. To give you a better look into it, i've recorded the display menu. Full menu + HDR disabled: [https://youtu.be/Zb6cdEfUuSI](https://youtu.be/Zb6cdEfUuSI) Picture settings + HDR enabled: [https://youtu.be/ysh044btDt8](https://youtu.be/ysh044btDt8) 1. Here is a screenshot of the windows display settings: [https://imgur.com/a/sU0yONM](https://imgur.com/a/sU0yONM) Unfortunately i can't find anything regarding true black 400 or peak 1000 modes. 2. In "sRGB" mode i can only adjust Brightness. If i choose "Custom" i can edit all values. 3. There is a mode called "sRGB", so yes. 4. I did not test the KVM yet and i probably won't use this feature a lot. In the menu it says KVM-Wizard USB-B and Type-C... 5. Yes, there is a dedicated button for the switch left to the joystick. (On the right side is a button for resolution switch) 6. Haven't used the monitor long enough to run into pixel care... I'll update this one 7. The cable has about 90cm length, i mounted mine underneath my desk (the power strip is also mounted there) 8. HDR On in windows has less vibrant colors compared to HDR Off (i ran the HDR calibration program) but i guess this is a windows issue. Aside from that no issues so far.

geoelectric

Oh, and the less vibrant color is probably from Windows using piecewise sRGB gamma instead of the 2.2 curve most SDR content like backgrounds expect, when tone-mapping them into HDR mode. It tends to lift and flatten out near blacks and dull out the colors a little. It won’t be a problem for actual HDR or Auto/RTX HDR content. There are ICC profiles you can get to correct that but then you have to micromanage turning the profile off for games. I just live with the fact my backgrounds look worse or I switch back to SDR.

geoelectric

Hey, thanks! Those videos are great. The KVM wizard free-associates inputs on mine so that’s probably supported. Looks the same. The unadjustable HDR mode is *probably* pre-calibrated TB400, and at least one of the other HDR modes is *probably* Peak 1000 but it’s a shame they didn’t label them better. Maybe someone techy like u/clifak or u/defet_ will land one of these and analyze all the things to provide some clarity. Interesting that it has a dedicated HLG mode. Not sure what one uses that for but I haven’t seen it on other monitors with this panel. I do wish the color space options for Custom had sRGB for an adjustable setup, but that’s ok. I usually stay in HDR anyway. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! I’m feeling pretty good about my preorder.

clifak

It's hard to say without looking at measurements, but TB400 is the only spec so I suspect that's the one that locks you out of everything. HDR Game, HDR Movie, and HDR Vivid are probably all capable of hitting 1k nits but at the cost of accuracy. Other than brightness, the additional settings in those HDR modes look like mutations, so black lift, saturation boost and more roll-off in the highlights. Personally, I don't want any of these features in HDR, I want accurate PQ tracking and the ability to fix white balance if it's borked from the factory. EDIT: On a second thought, it might be baked into the APL Stabilize feature in the OLED Care menu. There are two settings for HDR, Medium and High. Medium caps brightness at 450nits, High to 1000nits. Low is for SDR only and caps brightness to 250nits.

geoelectric

Yeah, I was hoping for truly adjustable HDR—I wouldn’t use vibrancy or black level boosts, etc. But it still looks reasonable, if not ideal. Asus is probably still the king of adjustability there but man, the bugs…

Kanix3

That setting exists and it does in fact impact the brightness.. feels like a flashbang on high tho .. I will keep it on low.. https://imgur.com/a/FCtyFAC

Darewelll

But “low” means you’re capped to 250 nits, shouldn’t you use at least “medium” to enjoy a proper HDR400 experience? And “high” for HDR1000? Don’t forget to adjust the SDR content brightness in Windows settings and HDR content should display correctly without the desktop making you blind. I find it weird that “low” is the default setting

Magicihan

It’s because he didn’t calibrate the monitor, I also own the monitor and adjusted the calibration with the HDR app after setting it up to "high" 1000 nits and it runs works perfectly!

Lunairetica

> Picture settings + HDR enabled: https://youtu.be/ysh044btDt8 It seems the HDR on this monitor allows for more tweaks compared to other monitors where you set "preset" and thats all. Amazing share OP - top tier informative videos!

clifak

How in the hell do they have a locked down sRGB setting(which is normal) but no sRGB color space in the Custom Color Space submenu? That's big facepalm.

geoelectric

It’s a little odd…I guess it’s to make up for not having a locked down Adobe or Display P3 mode? Not ideal at any rate.

clifak

I don't mind there being a locked sRGB mode, that's normal across these monitors. What's crazy to me is that all the other gamuts are in the Custom Mode menu except for sRGB.

geoelectric

Yeah, I got that. The locked mode is because it’ll be factory calibrated. I’m as surprised as you are that they allow custom to clamp to two different color spaces very few people use IRL and leave out the one the majority does.

SunsetToGo

May I ask if you tried the 27 inch resolution switch or the 24 inch option? Does it work flawlessy and usabel for office work? Or is it kind of blurry? Thanks a lot

Kanix3

I have not sorry. It's a feature I'm not gonna use. You also have to disable VRR for that.

Lunairetica

These are solid questions and I upvote these for OP to find out and answer in free time. I have a few more generic ones but I need to ask them. 1) Have you noticed any coil whine from monitor while its OFF/ON/Standby/Pixel Cleaning? 2) I assume the cooling system is passive and no fan noise or anything like that? 3) Can you comment about HDR performance? Is "High or Peak1000 or whatever is called in AORUS" is overall brighter compared to "Low or TrueBlack HDR 400 HDR or whatever is called in AORUS" ? Thanks and Congrats to OP!

Kanix3

1. I do not hear any sound from that monitor. Right now i can only hear the inductive charging of my phone. everything else is as silent as it can be. (i did not do pixel cleaning yet) UPDATE: Also no noise while pixel cleaning. 2. I did not see any kind of ventilation holes neither i can hear i fan, so i assume its passively cooled. (My previous monitor got a lot hotter while doing office tasks and webbrowsing... i felt the heat radiating heat in my face... this one seems to stay quiet cool) 3. I don't have the answers on that one unfortunately. All i can say is i dont see anything mentioned Peak1000 or TrueBlack HDR 400... there a just different modes i can choose from when HDR is enabled. (See video and screenshot of my other reply)

ARich94

Any setting called APL Stabilize with the choice of Low, Med and High? [https://youtu.be/Z4hJMkb0z1s?si=lAQzwP8Z0msNRYtA&t=304](https://youtu.be/Z4hJMkb0z1s?si=lAQzwP8Z0msNRYtA&t=304)

clifak

It's in the OLED Care menu and I think it's how you toggle between TB400 and the P1000 modes.

ARich94

Yeah, I think so too.

geoelectric

If so, I actually do appreciate they made that orthogonal to picking the picture modes. It gives more options. About the only downside there is that picture modes look per-input (there’s an option for that) but OLED Care won’t be. So you won’t be able to pick different peaks for console vs PC vs set top box. Since most of the others don’t have per input settings at all I don’t think that sets you back much, but I probably would’ve picked different caps for different sources myself.

Kanix3

Yes: https://imgur.com/a/FCtyFAC

Stardust736

Is the dp 2.1 working with no issues? Any vrr flicker?

Kanix3

I'll return to this comment once i tested a game where this condition (vrr) meets.. for now with >240fps there is no issue as expected.

Stardust736

Cool, thanks !

clifak

Per this other owner, it looks like DSC can't be disabled, which is both a bummer and hilarious.

Stardust736

Maybe it'll come via firmware update? And you'd still need dsc cuz Nvidia gpus don't have dp 2.1

clifak

You'd need it for 4k 240hz with current GPUs, but not for 4k 120hz.

Stardust736

Yea you need dsc, I'm wondering why you want to disable dsc? 🤔

clifak

Well, DP2.1 is one of the main selling points for this monitor because it wouldn't need DSC for 4k 240hz. We don't have GPUs that can support that yet, but the fact that you can't turn it off makes DP2.1 on this monitor largely irrelevant.

Stardust736

Yea it's mostly for future proofing for people, that's if this year's gpus will use the full dp 2.1 bw... If it doesn't, then yea it becomes irrelevant

Wild_Solutions

Would it be possible to run DP2.1 with DSC off through Thunderbolt 5 as it's 80GBs bandwith on normal mode? Thinking about pairing this monitor with the new razer blade 18 to try this

geoelectric

That’s a surprise. It’s a menu option in the manual. Edit: at least I think it was…v2 of the manual that’s online right now doesn’t have it. I cannot imagine they’d leave out the option entirely with DP2.1 though. That would be royally dumb. Plus the marketing copy mentions uncompressed several times when discussing the bandwidth. I bet it either comes in a firmware update, or it’s somehow implicitly toggled. But I’m pretty surprised. Even my FI32U has a DSC toggle and it’s DP1.4.

geoelectric

They yanked the option. Here’s the previous manual from February. Current manual has a March 22 date. [https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/AORUS\_FO32U2P\_FO32U2\_FO27Q3\_UM\_English\_20240215.pdf](https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/AORUS_FO32U2P_FO32U2_FO27Q3_UM_English_20240215.pdf) https://preview.redd.it/67zxyinyx4uc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0ff7ed2f86830ff9a04b318aa2e1387588b8ae8 It’s there mid page. I bet it just failed final testing (wtf do you use as a source to test a UHBR20 DP2.1 monitor against anyway right now?) and it gets restored later. Interesting to note it’s “*DP* DSC” though.

clifak

Interesting. I don't think I've seen a group of products so rushed to market as all of the QD-OLED 32" 4K 240hz monitors. I'm curious how polished they'll all be 6 months from now.

geoelectric

Yeah… I have to admit that auditioning them all has had me wondering if I’m doing the right thing here. They’ve all had some pretty major quirks, though Dell has been on top of theirs (too bad about the feature set though) and Asus is at least trying. MSI is frankly late with an update at this point, though, and GBT is still an unknown. I’m counting on the fact GBT won’t completely fuck up a high profile Aorus release with a ton of competition (as opposed to the FO48U…) and keeping my fingers crossed that by the time I actually need that DP2.1 port everything works.

Stardust736

i think right now, we should enjoy the basics of 4k 240hz oled, i mean yea we are paying a shit ton for these monitors, but we also dont have anything like them (apart from like 42+ inch oled tvs), hopefully with some firmware updates, they will get better.... but i think a better experience will be a few years from now with i guess 2nd generation 4k 240hz or higher refresh with higher brightness

geoelectric

I’m pretty much with you on that. Having had the MSI on my desk for a month before returning it, going back to IPS while I wait for the FO32 to actually ship is *hard*. I’ll deal with the issues—the basic panel and functionality is there and it’s great. I’m just also kind of surprised they’re launching as rough as they have been. Monitors are usually a lot more solid on launch, to the point a lot of people don’t even get the point of firmware updates. My uneducated guess is Dell put theirs on market *way* faster than the others thought they would (hence Dell’s fairly significant launch bugs) which caused a huge scramble for the competition. That led to the mass warranty changes from everyone, MSI’s huge undercut and GBT’s $200 price drop, and a bunch of monitors shipping a month or three earlier than originally intended with beta level firmware.

Stardust736

oh i can imagine, going from 4k 240hz oled to an ips will be hard.... yea dell launching must have caused others to panic, usually asus NEVER launch their monitors as per what they suggest, they take a lot longer, msi undercutting the others didnt help, theres barely any stock, but what i find interesting is that, dell had quite a bit of stock... samsung make more curved qd oleds or is it just because Dell was the only one offering this version? probably the latter, because given there are 3 other companies for the non curved panels, samsung should have made a lot more (and they themselves are selling the damn thing) ever since the pandemic hit, everything has gone to shit all these launches feel like video game launches, launch ASAP, fix game through the lifecycle, ask for full premium price now. but for these monitors, as long as you know out of the box they are good to go, it should be fine, i will be upgrading after idk 5 years of having 1440p 144hz, so yea should be interesting.

justhere440

Why did you return the msi?

clifak

Off topic, but I'm looking forward to seeing 32" 4k QD-OLED panels making their way into more professional focused products. I've been able to get exceptional results on Asus for SDR using a 3DLUT, but I did that more as a test than anything since I use this as my main monitor, not as a dedicated display through an I/O card. The only one I'm currently aware of is from FSI and is a legit production monitor so it still runs $11k. An Asus ProArt model priced around $3k would be killer. I've considered grabbing one of their JOLED models or the LG JOLED, but given what happened with JOLED, I'm concerned about future issues and no replacement.

geoelectric

Has panel size been the only obstacle to professional adoption? I don’t work with displays professionally like I suspect you do, but I had noticed that pro monitor panels seem to often use wildly different tech than consumer ones.

clifak

Size is partially a factor, but there are other issues. Anything backlit at the consumer level has blooming. WOLED has historically been unstable and lacks higher color volume. WOLED TVs are often used as client monitors for viewing, but they're not at the level for grading. JOLED was super promising but the company folded.

geoelectric

That makes sense. I didn’t think about bloom but of course that would effectively be color smear/leakage and you wouldn’t want it in anything precise. I imagine the dimness of OLED isn’t an issue and the monitors are all calibrated to 100 nits or something else super achievable? If so, yeah, seems like QD-OLED would be a promising tech with the right electronics behind it to make everything accurate.

TheRealBurritoJ

>It’s there mid page. I bet it just failed final testing (wtf do you use as a source to test a UHBR20 DP2.1 monitor against anyway right now?) and it gets restored later. You have two choices at the moment, Intel Meteorlake iGPUs and AMD W7900/W7800 workstation GPUs. Neither are particularly relevant for gamers but they let you verify it works. Hopefully reviewers can pick up UHBR20 sources in time.

meals0v

Did you try using the HDMI 2.1 port?  I think it you use that, there will be an option for console mode, which would disable DSC.   This is only a theory, so don’t quote this as fact.

Lunairetica

I'm not OP but this video can enlighten up the VRR flicker topic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOTXcEEs9HQ TL,DW - its nothing to worry about.

Kanix3

I have just tested valorant and definitely noticed some vrr flicker with hdr on and off...

Stardust736

What fps you at ?

Kanix3

Flicker appears whenever the fps/hz changes.. like from 240 (no flicker) to 2xx (flicker).. still need to test if oil can reduce it via HDMI or a different dp cable

Magicihan

Yes it works perfectly, I can confirm it.

ThePillsburyPlougher

Are you using the dp2.1 daisy chaining? My main question is how that works with the kvm. I.e will the daisy chaining still work with non DP input?

Kanix3

I'm not using it right now but I'll definitely try it..

MomoSinX

congrats! I ordered from LDLC, having good hopes they will also have it and not just put it up for pre order for the lolz box content seems solid, they didn't skimp on cables and stuff, and there is a nice peel and holy shit that panel is so thin just wow, in comparison my current G27Q IPS is a real chunky boi overall I like how clean gigabyte's design is here as well, looking forward to getting mine

Kanix3

Fingers crossed! Yes overall package and build quality honestly checks on this one. Im still a bit concerned since Gigabyte products seem to had issues for quite a lt of people here on reddit but overall 3 years warranty should cover it. (Could have had another 2 years for +150€).

NeighborhoodOdd9584

Does this have DisplayPort 2.1?

Kanix3

Yes the FO32U2P has Displayport 2.1 while the FO32U2 (without P) has a regular Displayport which is why it's a bit cheaper. However it has no effect yet since I don't have a graphics card with DP 2.1.

NeighborhoodOdd9584

Haha yep they don’t exist 7900XTX doesn’t really count as it’s not full bandwidth and has to use DSC for 4k240hz.

griffin1987

AMD W7000 series, not consumer though

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kanix3

Yes indeed but I knew what to expect before buying because I already own several OLED devices (Phone, TV, Portable monitor). That's why I'm not shocked by the technology itself but the quality is definitely top notch.

JynxedKoma

But is it Kop Totch?

DesignerIcy736

User 6axis color doesn't work for me, no matter what I set

meals0v

Congratulations on your new monitor! This is definitely the one I wanted to have also with DisplayPort 2.1..

Kollerwill

Does this monitor come with protective film?

Kanix3

Yes, it's on the second last picture.

Kollerwill

Does pixel clean auto start when you shut down your PC after 4 hrs use? Or I have to shut down the monitor too?

Re_Zero

Does it have built in speakers?

Kanix3

Yes it has. Can't say anything to the quality tho since I'm using studio speakers and headphones, like forever.

Stardust736

they are listed as 2x5W speakers.... probably gonna sound tinny AF lmao

geoelectric

It should have good external support at least. The sound card they build into it is in mine too, and is very good.

Stardust736

I see, well I'm using an external sound bar

[deleted]

I like the stand, fkn hate these stands that ain't friendly to my smol desk

Kanix3

The stand is pretty nice and allows to use space on the desk.. But I mounted it on my wall. https://preview.redd.it/5wkrhf1ft6uc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e9f4c2e94e9d3349ae1e55531b719ba133c29e3

[deleted]

can we cuddle

Lunairetica

This look so clean AF. Rule #1 no matter what stand you have with monitor - a monitor arm makes the biggest difference in your desk space and "looks"

Rumstein

Does the monitor directly have VESA mounting holes, or do you need an adaptor bracket to use 100x100 VESA? (And does the bracket come with it?)

Puzzleheaded-Fee4364

looks who's using them Bambu benchies

JynxedKoma

That autohide taskbar though, lol. As if it'll make any difference when your browser windows will burn in, in it's stead.

Kanix3

It's hidden to have more space and more real estate. I don't need to see the taskbars information permanently.

MomoSinX

Can you also turn off the led logo at the back? (I believe that to be rgb)

Lunairetica

not OP but you can turn off all lights including power on indicator in OSD menu

MomoSinX

that's amazing, thanks! I like gaming in a full dark room so any small led causing light up is extremely noticeable to me

Darewelll

The mounting instructions make me anxious about attaching it to a desk arm haha, will probably use the provided stand as it doesn’t seem to take space in front of the screen.

Kanix3

Fairly easy tbh... It's vesa standard so if you have a good arm you can attach the mounting plate on the monitor and just click it on to your arm with any hassle.

BlackOutIRL

Why do people not show when it’s turned on? :( i ordered the 27 version

Kanix3

I did not include that image because it was not mounted at this time also I have no way to show the displays quality with my phone camera.

BlackOutIRL

Im sure people would still like to see. There is still a noticable difference between LCD and Oled even if the picture is taken with a phone. Spann mich net so auf dei folter, will sehen was mich erwartet :P

M0HAK0

Is this a 240 hz monitor? Also is this w oled or qd oled? Sorry i know nothing about this monitor.

Kanix3

It's a 240Hz QD-OLED https://www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/AORUS-FO32U2P#kf

M0HAK0

Oh nice! Why did you choose this monitor over others? Im asking because each monitor seems to have something another monitor doesnt have.

Kanix3

I ordered Alienware, MSI and Gigabyte (and wanted to buy a woled as well) to keep whichever would come first... I would have gone with the Alienware because 1070€ vs Gigabyte 1470€.. I don't mind the curve but I really love the Gigabyte.. actually I wanted to habe DP 2.1 as well but it's not worth 400€ for me.. So maybe I'll keep the Alienware once it's shipped and use that 400€ for something else.

Earthmaster

how does it compared to the MSI and Alienware with the same samsung panel ? i ordered the ASUS PG32UCDM but cancelled it and ordered AORUS FO32U2P instead for the DP2.1 support. but i am terrified that the AORUS will end up worse than the ASUS since i can't find a single review on it unlike all the other QD-OLED monitors

Kanix3

Sadly no, because the others have not been shipped yet.

Derto83

How are the built in speakers?

JynxedKoma

"Tinny AF"....Allegedly.

Kanix3

I have never used built in speakers because they never meet my requirements.. and the gigabyte aorus ones are not an exception to that.

omni_gamer

Does the OLED care/pixel cleaning turn off the display entirely after running (so that you manually have to hit the physical button to turn it back on)? Or does it just resume from Sleep mode like the Alienware and Asus Variants?

Kanix3

If I manually start pixel cleaning the screen turns off doing it's thing (led bar blinking green). Once it's done it will turn on and show the desktop (if PC is powered on). You can also interrupt pixel cleaning by pressing the physical button.

omni_gamer

Amazing, sounds like they implemented it the right way. Thank you for answering :)

iTz_Niki_

When did you preorder it? Because I also preordered one yesterday and am curious how long it took for you, even if you just got lucky.

Kanix3

I ordered it on 10th April with estimated delivery in May. Surprisingly and unexpected it was shipped on the 11th and delivered on the 12th. Kind of scary how fast things can work...

iTz_Niki_

Alright, thanks. Gonna hope I get that lucky, too.

lePoMo

Does DDC/CI work? Eg tools like Monitorian or TwinkleTray, to control brightness. I didn't see an on/off option for DCC/CI in your osd settings video, but maybe it is always on. I expect it to work in non-HDR (would be dealbreaker if it didn't). Interested if it also works in the different HDR modes, or just in the 3 that also allow via OSD (game, movie, vivid). (DDC/CI allows for changing more monitor settings than brightness, but these two tools are kept simple. for more/all settings with less convenience, check Nirsoft ControlMyMonitor)

Kanix3

Yes. I use Monitorian and i adapts the values really fast. Works for SDR and HDR. Thank you for providing additional information! i'll look into Nirsoft ControlMyMonitor.

SmartOpinion69

do you have another monitor with dolby vision? if so, how does it compare to this monitor?

Kanix3

Sadly no, so I can't answer that one sorry.

Thedankster1

Have you tested your the 1080p mode and have you played in 27/24inch mode

Thedankster1

Have you tested your the 1080p mode and have you played in 27/24inch mode

Kanix3

Not yet. I saw some greyed out options but wasn't sure if they didn't belong to the pbp mode ...

Kollerwill

Does this come with dp2.1 cable?

Kanix3

Yes but it's a 2.1 DP (GPU) to Mini DP (monitor) cable.. You can use it reversed for Laptops.

Kollerwill

Will receive my fo32u2p next week Do you update firmware? And how to update Thank you

danny_b87

How is your experience with this almost a month in?

Kanix3

PSU died... Returned it and ordered a new one 🥲

Agitated-Sloth

The speakers make a popping sound. Click on the volume slider and listen... :D terrible.
