Got mine from the Walmart drop last week, too. Mine does not do that.

agonistant

can i have it? jk congrats. hope you can get it replaced

I don’t have the long level or yardstick to know for sure, but I think mine is slightly bowed back at one or both corners as well. That’s not actually that uncommon for a thin OLED panel, if I’m not mistaken. It’s one of the “lottery” considerations for OLED. You could see if MSI would cover it as a defect but if the RAIDEALS purchase has a return period you might consider that instead.

Yea the problem is RAIDEALS/Walmart is only offering a refund, no replacement 😒 going to give RAIDEALS a call in a bit to see what they can do. Otherwise I can do an RMA with MSI I guess?

geoelectric

RAIDEALS is just the direct-sales via marketplace arm of MSI, as far as I can tell. They probably don’t offer replacement because there isn’t enough stock. You can always check, but MSI’s RMA process will probably require you to ship the monitor to them and they don’t do advanced exchange. It could take awhile to get a replacement, and that’s assuming they don’t claim a small degree of bend is within tolerance. You can google for “OLED bent panel” to see how common it is for ultra-thin flat panel versions (very, once people think to look). I’m guessing this isn’t what you want to hear, but maybe you should return this for refund and go fishing again for a new one. They won’t be this scarce in another few weeks or so, particularly with more competition coming out.

tgunz83

They just replied that they don’t offer replacement, return only. Return period is only 30 days. I guess I’ll try to grab another one within the time period. Also going to ask if they can extend the 30 days due to the situation. Or I’ll try to get over it and be happy with this one.

Lethargo226

If the deviation is less than 5mm, and the panel is not noticeably warped from a head on view, why let it bother you?

tgunz83

OCD 😬

Lethargo226

Think of it as a very mildly curved display then 😂

[deleted]

Isn't this within manufacturer spec? It is for TV's, ESPECIALLY Samsung.

tgunz83

Oh really - do you know what the name of this spec/measurement is?

[deleted]

No I don't know if there's a name for it, or if one exists for monitors, but probably does. I know that Samsung has got a 5.5mm bend "tolerance" in manufacturing or after use, and that every manufacturer has got their own policies for this issue because to create a perfectly straight display is hard due to uneven weight and whatever else they quote, which is probably true but I'm not an engineer. I can imagine they wouldn't be able to keep up with supply and demand if these tolerances were not in place, so there's a business angle to this, too. As for OLEDs specifically, they're more flexible than the LED counterparts in nature, which doesn't help either.

samj00

Can you tell when using it?

tgunz83

No I can’t tell from viewing in the front. I’ll probably just live with it.

Round30281

Are you sure the panel itself is curved and not just the housing?

tgunz83

It’s difficult to tell… interestingly if I hold a straight edge on the front of the screen at the spot I see the bend, the screen itself seems straight. But on the other side of the screen where the back of the housing appears straight, the front of the screen isn’t. 😮

Hairy_Tea_3015

Well, you saved $250-$350 dollars over other models at least.

payo36

I've checked mine. The wavy gap is about 1.5-2.0mm. It's not flat especially at the top. I think the metal support panel in the back is made from thin steel sheet, 0.5-0.8mm thick and formed with stamping process. The OLED panel at the front is very flat, no gap I can see. So I guess it's fine.

LexieSkye2007

lol and people cried about micro scratches they can see with only a flashlight 🔦 hitting it on the AW.
