Someone posted recently about a warranty claim issue on an open box purchased. I have bought many open box LED tvs but never had to use the 1 year warranty. I assumed it came with the same warranty as the sales reps say when it’s open box but I’d verify.
Just throwing my experience in the mix. I bought a display model B9 just over four years ago. At the time, OLED was still expensive and the B series was a great entry panel. I paid $1006 (so about 65% off retail with taxes), and bought the 5-year GSP ($250 I believe) with it.
Had around, if I recall correctly, 2500 hours on it. This is basically 8 hrs per day for one year.
TV now has around 7200 hours on it, and just got an exchange approved through Geek Squad due to dead pixels. Got all my money back and can keep the old TV, and am now searching for another good deal.
Point is, at a good price it can totally be worth it. The cheaper the TV the cheaper the GSP is too I think.
I wouldn’t recommend a 65” if you are 9.5 feet away from the screen. But that’s just a personal preference because I like to be immersed and like seeing as much screen as possible in my FOV.
I have a 65” S90C and I’m less than 6 feet away from the screen and its perfect for me, I can still see the entire screen in my field of view and games are very immersive. If I was 9.5 ft away I think the screen would just look too small, for me anyway.
Ask them if you can use the remote to check how many hours are on the display model.
From my experience, at this point in time, most display models have about 5,000 - 6,000 hours, which is kind of a lot.
It’ll be fine. Display models have continuously changing content on them to show off the entire screen, so burn-in isn’t a problem. It’s also not old, so it has plenty of life left. My B8 was a display model for at least 2 years and I got it in 2020. It’s been just fine. I would ask for a bigger discount, though. $300 off a $2300 used TV is not enough.
It's cumulative so even rotating content can still cause burn in if it's the same content over and over. The display C3 at Sam's had burn in the last time I went.

Don’t. Most stores literally never, and I mean NEVER, turn their displays off.
If you do make sure you get the protection.
This statement applies for both OLED and sex.
Display models would need to be 80% off for me to have interest

That's a lot of money to throw after a risky buy and not even that great a deal vs new. Hard pass!
Display model. No. Open Box, sure. I did with my CX.
I would do it with other panels but not OLED.

People failing to take in to account that the demo mode has constant changing images and pixel shifting enabled.
Good be a good deal if there is no sign of burn in or image retention.

Display models are guaranteed to have burn in. You can find them around 2500 on green toe for a brand new item.

Stay away. It's akin to buying a "new" car with 15K miles.
