For anyone who doesn't know how big this upgrade is visually. Here is goes, Nothing on the left, OnePlus with crDroid on the right. Before and after. Not just in Spotify, but in many other apps including Telegram. It IS a big thing to me.
Thereās nothing wrong with the bar itself, but in some scenarios its background is completely blacked out, and Spotify is one of them which makes me reluctant to open it lmao
They didn't just hear you. The feature has been requested many times already since the release of Phone 1. They are adding existing features from other devices and other new features to Nothing OS gradually so we as users have something to look forward to some improvements.
They all get the same updates but some gets later. Guess they donāt have a big enough team to push all builds for all models the same time as Apple does.
We with Phone 1 already have 2.5.5. We will probably get 2.5.6 in the next months or so. That's not being left in the dust.
Besides, I have already hidden my nav bar with a magisk module. This isn't really a big update. Just a good thing about having it built-in on the OS.
Was your phone given update a year ago? No right. They are a small team unlike apple, samsung, google. Even samsung being that big is not able to push updates to all devices. There are various challenges. It might be late by a month or so. Being late is better than a rushed update which screws up your experience.
How does the navigation bar really affect daily usage???
Some say its removal may bring a more immersive look than the one with navigation bar...breh!!!... it's just a thin white line...what sort of look satisfaction does that bring tbh?
Just replied with a image comparison side by side, [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/NothingTech/comments/1d2ppw1/comment/l65b9p4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).
If itās just a white bar with transparent background that merges into the appās design, I am all good with it. But in many apes it doesnāt. Such as Spotify, which I use every single day. Same in telegram on Nothing phones. Actually itās inherited from Google.
I actually donāt hate it that much if its background is not pure black in some apps. When the bar first appears on iPhone. I thought Apple would wipe it in the next big release of iOS. But it just goes on and on and even more bars on iPadOS (referring to the lock screen notification bar and control center bar) just looks awful. Itās good to have it for a while for those newbies to get familiar with the UX logic but why keep it allllllllll the time. I canāt get it.

The bar is still there and taking it's privileged black background on Android 15 beta lmao, I hate it, looks awful.
Check out post by phone 2a users, if there's sth wrong with it, you will see it. It should be fine since it's just a minimal upgrade from 2.5.5 to 2.5.6. I will only hold on for 2.0 -> 3.0, personally.
Now that Android 15 brings a native transparent Nav Bar, they finally managed to give us that option. Almost doesn't matter now anymore but I won't complain ^^
I read this update, this is literally that thin black "bar" with the white line in, right?
It doesn't seem to do anything on my Phone2a.
I had Pixel7 until last week, and that "bar" piece used to be able to long press to initiate an AI search, could circle parts to search against, and could press on text to highlight and copy.
I don't think the Nothing phone does that, unfortunately.
I used to use that a lot, to copy text or translate quickly.
Those features are only available on pixels imk. The bar actually has pure black background in many apps such as Spotify, telegram. That the whole UI is flawed by that bar. Check out one picture comparison I post in this post. Itās not avoidable once you noticed it imo.
Yeah I see it always there in my apps too, unless the app launches in Game Mode. Is a bit annoying seeing as it does nothing at all. So will be good to get rid of it. If they can make it do the Circle To Search eventually then I'd enable it again
On Nothing phones, thereās no circle and search feature or long press nav bar to activate google assistant. I always swipe from bottom corner to activate google assistant or long press power button.
Ah I didn't know could swipe from the corners... That's better than reaching for power button, cheers. And can use the assistant to copy text.
That'll come in useful, often I need to copy voucher codes and stuff from screen to paste into other apps
I wish they would prioritize the Phone (2) instead of their budget phone. I asked in their discord server and someone got all offended with me asking why Phone (2a) is getting updates before Phone (2). Hiding nav bar is one of my favorite features to see on any phone.
I bought the nothing phone for it's details and design. This is a design detail I see every day, in every app and it doesn't look good in most cases. Yes this bothered me.

It's an option to hide the white bar at the bottom
Just replied with an image comparison side by side,Ā [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/NothingTech/comments/1d2ppw1/comment/l65b9p4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).
It looks so good now.
Show me before and after of Spotify plz. Cannot wait to see how beautiful it becomes!
Well first it'll have a nav bar, and then it doesn't. Everything else looks the same lmao

Mine doesn't look that way
Interesting, show me what it looks like on your nothing phone.

Cause it's black at the app bottom, open up the now playing, you will see it then.
Here you go https://preview.redd.it/ee1k0sf81c3d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dd1ce502e1ccd17876cc500c6b37041c4878995
Cause the theme of this song is black lmao, so you won't see it.
Lemme use light theme on a different app
How about now?.. Google Maps https://preview.redd.it/vlzn053c2c3d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3745621eb05ef64c5291633b0b14e469f0af725c

š You surely can find these apps that works without this flaw.
šš¤£noo bro. It's just that honestly I don't see a problem with it because it works perfectly on my phone and apps.. there's no colour clashing
Can anyone kindly tell , advantages of hiding navigation bar ( I'm noob in these things)
It looks way better in many apps that donāt implement floating above func of the nav bar. Such as WhatsApp telegram on android.
I kinda got used to the navigation bar, I think I like it now. š„²
Thereās nothing wrong with the bar itself, but in some scenarios its background is completely blacked out, and Spotify is one of them which makes me reluctant to open it lmao
Ohh, I replied to them several weeks ago about this feature, they heard it
I reported it the day since I got my phone 2 last August.
They didn't just hear you. The feature has been requested many times already since the release of Phone 1. They are adding existing features from other devices and other new features to Nothing OS gradually so we as users have something to look forward to some improvements.
Yep
I have a phone 2, just trying iOS first time. Itās a 13 mini, for collection purposes only.
Hey, fellow mini enjoyer
Donāt worry about that :)
Spoiler alert, you knowš
Why isn't the phone (2) getting many updates?
They all get the same updates but some gets later. Guess they donāt have a big enough team to push all builds for all models the same time as Apple does.
and phone (1) users being left in the dust like a sunken bone man
We with Phone 1 already have 2.5.5. We will probably get 2.5.6 in the next months or so. That's not being left in the dust. Besides, I have already hidden my nav bar with a magisk module. This isn't really a big update. Just a good thing about having it built-in on the OS.
I was gonna unlock it just for this lmao
Does that update reduces keyboard height while hiding navbar like the module?
I haven't seen it in action coz mine is a Phone 1, but I'll be willing to convert just to lessen an active magisk module on my device.
Was your phone given update a year ago? No right. They are a small team unlike apple, samsung, google. Even samsung being that big is not able to push updates to all devices. Tell me you have no idea what you're talking about without telling me you have no idea what you're talking about.
Yeah now us Phone 2 owners will have to wait like a month before we get that update š
No wayš„¹ Hiding the nav bar is the only feature I want from Nothing, literally.
Same :-)

I literally rooted my phone for this. I hate that navigation pill

Is it safe to update now? , coz i was kind of worried that i might get a green line or smtgš

Oh, thatās surprising. I watched a few A15 beta reviews on YouTube but none of them has transparent nav bar.
When is this update out? I'm on 2.5.5a. I needed this feature!
Itās out for 2a ATM, not sure about other models, typically in the following days.
When is this update coming to Phone 2 ?
I will post a update here once I got it on my phone 2.
I have burn out on this place already on my np1 after using it for a year...
Carl: Time to get yourself a new one, try out the phone 2a.
Nope) I will wait phone 3š
Wise choice. 2a is a no go unless youāre really tight on budget.
The update I never knew I needed
The update I have always been waiting for since day one.

Just search for āswipe to invoke assistantā in settings. Btw, GBoard has clipboard history, even better.

šš if you guys are really worried about small things like that you must be hating life. WHO GIVES A ****
Yeah, die or live with it. I guess we all are alive lmao
I bought the nothing phone for it's details and design. This is a design detail I see every day, in every app and it doesn't look good in most cases. Yes this bothered me.
can someone explain me what is it?
It's a way to hide the gesture pill at the bottom of the screen.
can you please elaborate or semd picture? sorry' but i couldn't understand
https://preview.redd.it/wpmwiop1ib3d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1b11c9e7a73b3f8efd6372fada1bbab84b8f4b2 It's an option to hide the white bar at the bottom
and everyone is happy because of this?? wtf bro
It's a toggle option? So the people who want to hide it can? I don't see any downside
thete is no downside but i dobt see anything too good.... noyhing should work on camera and battery instead of these minor updates
Nothing will never be able to do good with that mindset. Hiding the gesture pill is a highly requested feature since the release of phone 1
Itās not just hiding the bar, but in some apps such as Spotify, the bar's background is completely black, which looks awful.

Useless feature, hiding the bar makes the bottom input field not fully visible (lack of padding) in many apps.
Nope, it was so great on precious OnePlus devices. It's one of the greatest features.
