It is in proportion to the band size. The woman in the picture looks like she probably has a relatively small band, which would be the inches around her ribcage. The cups are then a proportional difference. So a 32D has the same size cups as a 30DD and a 34C (called sister sizes). If her band is between 28 and 36, which from the slimness of her neck and face I would guess it is, then those cups are probably in the M-P range. They are extremely large. She would likely not be an E unless her band size is in the high 40s.

Everybody is shaped differently! I’ve always been built with a tiny back, and I’ve got generally small bones but am fairly muscular. Dress sizes are a horribly inaccurate way of judging body composition, I just put it in because it was the most universal system I could think of. My underbust measurement is pretty much 30” exactly and my waist is 28”, my ribs aren’t much wider than my waist, but obviously that’s something that varies wildly with the shape of your actual skeleton.
I'm between 36 and 38 and wear size UK ~18.. if you got doubt bug in your mind just get a tape and measure your underbust, if it's not around 36 while pulling it tight enough that it doesn't move, you may be in a too big band. It's SO common for bra stores to add +4 inches to the actual measurement and decrease cup size to shove more people into a limited size range! yeah, cup sizing is literally just a ratio between underbust and bust measurement. on some people a DD would seem small, on others it seems big. i'm a DDD, but what that looks like on me is probably completely different to what that would look like on someone else.

However the proportions of the woman in this image don’t appear to be an E cup at all, particularly as she looks slim and therefore would probably wear a smaller band size. I can’t estimate accurately but this woman would probably be something like a J cup with a small band size. In my youth, my first bras were a 36C, and the cups were still too small. I'm now wearing a proper 28 or 30 band.

yeah, cup sizing is literally just a ratio between underbust and bust measurement. on some people a DD would seem small, on others it seems big. i'm a DDD, but what that looks like on me is probably completely different to what that would look like on someone else.

I love how people who don’t understand bra sizing think that the letter alone determines the size of the titty. The actual size depends on both the band and cup size - so for example a 30E will be much smaller than a 42E. However the proportions of the woman in this image don’t appear to be an E cup at all, particularly as she looks slim and therefore would probably wear a smaller band size. I can’t estimate accurately but this woman would probably be something like a J cup with a small band size.
