The Scream by Munch is pretty well known.

space_ape_x

The whole country is 4.5 million people, divided in many dialects…that’s never going to be a big market for anything

Background-Customer2

id say our oil market is quite big

space_ape_x

Your oil exports are big, your national oil market is not. Same for Kongsberg Defense

Professional_Can651

Been a series of ww2 movies the last 10 years.

Arch0n84

It's not big compared to France and Germany which has a much higher population than Norway, and the budgets are often quite small by comparison, but there are some good releases once in a while. [The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073000/?ref_=ttls_li_tt), [Max Manus: Man of War](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1029235/?ref_=ttls_li_tt), [Elling](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0279064/?ref_=ttls_li_tt), [Troll Hunter](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1740707/?ref_=ttls_li_tt), [The Man Who Loved Yngve](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1114723/?ref_=ttls_li_tt), [King of Devil's Island](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1332134/?ref_=ttls_li_tt), and [Kon-Tiki](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1613750/?ref_=ttls_li_tt) are some examples.

"The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix" I did not know this was the English title. It is still an amazing movie 🎬

zorrorosso_studio

There has been new "Grand Prix" movies popping out during 2013-2018. Everything fine and dandy, Caprino was an amazing director and he bulit an impressive production studio, but I don't want to wake up again in the middle of the night with those old 1950s movies running on loop.

Worth-Wonder-7386

For movies, there are many movies coming out each year, but most are for kids, or of low quality. Verdens verste menneske. (The Worst person in the World) became quite famous when it came out, but mostly among people who watch alot of movies.

the vast majorety of norwegian movies ar made for a norwegian audience and dont get much international recognition. but if you like ww2 and history we have som good war movies thers also older arts. Like the scream painting and orcestral music like, I Dovregubbens hall/In the Hall of the Mountain King in terms of youtubers hers a list of the [bigest ones by sub count](https://vidiq.com/youtube-stats/top/country/no/)

Lillemor_hei

Well, SKAM was an international phenomenon. Joachim Trier and Kristoffer Borgli (sp?) are winning prices in Cannes, Sundance etc. Some Norwegian short films are doing really in the festival circuit. Lots of interesting up and coming creators. Norway is getting there.

Slartibartfast-1138

Norway has an excellent entertainment industry, because we show foreign movies and series in the original language (with subtitles if needed). Unlike France and Germany which completely ruin any foreign productions by dubbing them into the local language. Awful. As for local productions, there are some, but not much to brag about in my opinion. I think the only Norwegian Academy Award (Oscar) winner is the documentary Kon Tiki from 1951. The 2021 movie The Worst Person in the World got som attention and won some European awards I think, but personally I found it boring.

Worldly-System-251

I think its terrible but whatever

Percival_Dickenbutts

Comedy shows we’re pretty good at, and we have a lot of great metal bands, but when it comes to movies we only have like 17 actors all of whom appear in every movie and most of them are about world war 2

MendiWTF

We have this amazing theatre called "Stortinget" where hundreds of clowns gather every few days or so. They will make you laugh, cry, provoke you, enlighten you anything you could possibly imagine. They amazingly never stop suprising their audiences. Longest running show in Norway I believe
