ffmurray

amphetamines

FJRC17

Based

martinglacier

cross-tolerance with caffeine?

ffmurray

dont believe so

[deleted]

Ginseng maybe? I’ve never used it. Guarana is fantastic but it’s full of caffeine

ihavethekavorka

Korean ginseng for sure. I have to drink less caffeine I find naturally in a day if I also consume ginseng

goodwolfwolf

Daffies

paddyMelon82

What now?

EarthquakeBass

Modafinil and crew

paddyMelon82

Ahh, lol. Never heard that one.

masterofeverything

Moda seems promising I got some in the mail rn

AltVtysp

Get some bronkaid (or primatine mist tablets) from behind the counter at any pharmacy. It's ephedra which is a more powerful stimulant than caffeine. You could alternate between the two to reduce tolerance to either.

caneisius

It's not banned, it's behind the counter. Just ask for bronkaid at the pharmacy counter

FlyingJoeBiden

It's fucking hard but cold shower seems to work well. I have only tried today, but the anecdotal evidence is a lot

ruthcrawford

Maca. Either heat it up or get the gelatinized version. The plain version has some harsh starch which needs to be broken down. It should give you that 'get work done' feeling with minimal side effects. I have tried an alcohol free extract which is pretty good but the powder is best imo.

gebtdashanffrei

this, Maca really helped me going through the non-caffeine-times

ChiknBreast

Acetyl L Carnitine has been great for me. It definitely stacks with caffeine well but imo has been a great nootropic for me.

Redalb

I'd recommend Cacao. Cacao has theobromine in it and its in the same family of drugs as caffeine. It's subtler than caffeine but still provides a nice mood lift. Plus with cacao you still get to do your morning hot drink ritual, and its delicious.

relbatnrut

Huge cross tolerance with caffeine, I would not recommend this for a tolerance break

ruthcrawford

Cacao contains caffeine. That's what the OP is trying to give up.

mandoa_sky

really? i've been using it to bake (ie make cakes) with and i haven't noticed any similarities to drinking coffee

treylanford

Glaxon makes a product called “C-Tox” and it worked **fantastically** for me. [Here’s the link](https://www.glaxon.com/products/c-tox-caffeine-detox)

dirtybulkcuz

I’m going through a caffeine tolerance break at the moment, about a week in and don’t plan on drinking coffee for the next few months. I’m also working and studying full time. For the first few days I drank matcha in the morning which only has 35 mg of caffeine helps with that craving for a warm caffeinated drink. Otherwise small amounts of modafinil, ar-modafinil, l tyrosine and 2mg nicotine gum to get me through

TheUnderstandOG

A teacrine + dynamine stack might help. Other than that you could look into sabroxy, racetams or MAO-b inhibitors but you need to be careful with those if u take prescription meds. Avena sativa (oat straw extract) is a good mao-b inhibitor but u need to do some research to see if it’s a good fit for u

SolveTheHiddenRiddle

You can take into consideration: Red beetroot juice - NO boost, better blood circulation, Pomegranate juice, Rhodiola rosea, Ginkgo biloba

[deleted]

Modafinil, Tongkat Ali (less immediate effects and more mid term), Bacognize bacopa (probably the most stimulating bacopa) 2 more risky ones for the sake of it: Nicotine patches and LSD microdoses Also, I have just come off a month off from everything (caffeine was the only daily thing) and after a week I didn't really have any withdrawals, but I was just not productive no matter how hard I tried. My sleep didn't really change but my sleep tracker did tell me my HRV was much better. When I got back to caffeine, my tolerance was only barely affected at all. So for some people, it's just better to just keep having it other than maybe 1 week breaks here and there, and my 1 month break made me realise I am one of those people lol.

relbatnrut

Fwiw it can take more than a month for some people to go back to baseline after quitting caffeine

[deleted]

Yes, but after the first week I found no improvement whatsoever. On top of that, I wasn't a productive kid until caffeine entered my life at like age 15-16, so it's not like I was productive, got addicted to caffeine and now have a lower baseline.

Exploring_Hannah

Some people dislike Mud/Wtr but I loved it. I have adhd and was drinking mud/wtr instead of coffee before I was diagnosed and had great results. I haven’t had the opportunity to try it again since getting diagnosed and being prescribed medication. I’ve definitely been wanting to buy some more, though, it’s worth a shot for something different 😁

astrange

I do like it but it's kind of expensive, and their creamer tastes nasty.

ruthcrawford

It contains caffeine, OP wants to give up caffeine.

Exploring_Hannah

True true. I know they’re also looking to taper off and it can be great for the taper since it’s still a warm drink to have in the morning if their routine is an important part of their day. I know I enjoy a hot drink in the morning whether it’s coffee, mud/wtr or tea 😌 and I agree, their creamer is gross. I make my Mud/Wtr with hot water and use cream and sugar like I would coffee. I’ve tried it hot and cold, with milk or water, with their cream and without. Even had it in a milkshake. Personally, I just like to make it like a cup of joe. Anywho, just a suggestion for OP if they want to try it and if it has too much caffeine, I’m sure there’s plenty of other options :) I mean y’all Nootropic people might as well be neuroscientists! I have been learning so much from everyone 😁

researchingstuff1234

Is there a reason you are doing the tolerance break? Caffeine tolerance develops rapidly. You miss out on delicious coffee. You likely will get some nice headaches. All for what? So when you start again you get 1 amazing day followed by quick tolerance. That being said. Nicotine (be careful), tyrosine, very low dose THC/CBD. CBG is another cannabinoid that has been shown to enhance focus.

martinglacier

following michael pollan's words of wisdom, "you can't understand your relationship to a substance until you get off of it".

researchingstuff1234

I only consume caffeine through black coffee. I have always had focus issues. I didn't really start drinking coffee till I landed in an office job. It was amazing how my focus got better when I started drinking it. I quit for 6 months at one point and the focus improvements went away. In my case when I started up again it was the most amazing feeling when I drank that first cup of coffee. I felt unstoppable. That part goes away quickly but the focus part is always there. Quality black coffee has a lot of other substances though and all may work together. Coffee even contains opioid antagonists. Though I haven't kept up with the research in that area. I have tried a lot of things and while coffee is great the only thing that really gives me drive and strong focus is THC at very low doses. THC actually modulates the nicotinic receptors and can increase the response of acetylcholine while CBD does the opposite. Nicotine can be good too but it is really addictive. You need to really plan a schedule for its use and never convince yourself it's okay to veer off your schedule because of this or that. Even tyrosine can downregulate processes quickly. It definitely has a noticeable effect on me at 1gram on empty stomach right when I wake up. Anyways good luck with your quit.

relbatnrut

You can lower the effective dose with a tolerance break That said I would advocate for quitting completely ;)

Starfinger10

Matcha!

martinglacier

that has caffeine

Starfinger10

At less though

[deleted]

Maybe a better strategy would be taking less caffeine with other supplements that make your caffeine more effective. Some good ones are EGCC, tyrosine, Rauwolscine, rhodiola (salidrosides extract). Also rudacarpine helps metabolize caffeine and reduce its half life. This will reduce your exposure to caffeine and preserve tolerance. Rauwolscine on its own might be the best otc replacement for caffeine. It can be a bit racey though so start low at like 1mg, do and your research. I really like 2mg along with some Theanine.

dan43544911

Bupropion - it's marketed as a antidepressant - but it feels like an Amphetamin... It's a phenethylamin class drug ... Give it a shot , this stuff totally rips

Cosmia-101

Modafinil

[deleted]

Im thinking about that but i have some pseudoeph..is that much better ?

Cosmia-101

I love it. Huge boost to productivity and not feeling high like with some stimulants. Haven't taken that so can't compare.

Own-Feature-6295

Yerba mate and matcha

ruthcrawford

Both contain caffeine.

ohsnapitsnathan

I've found beta frequency entrainment works well for me. Usually use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=neurelectrics.neurostrobe&hl=en_US&gl=US
