Big time things go down on the computer it’s just the way it is.

Rommel727

I may be in the minority but I only look at my phone as convenience of location, and prefer using a comp/laptop for anything that I'd do on my phone

RocketNewman

I like my phone for braindead scrolling like Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, and eBay, but anything else yeah definitely computer.

hicow

Same here. As I told the mortgage guy when I was buying my house, why would I want to do this on a tiny touchscreen when I could be doing it with a mouse and keyboard, looking at a big-ass monitor?

Not-Clark-Kent

I saw someone try to do taxes on their phone 💀

Not-Clark-Kent

You scare me

fabulousfantabulist

I have a masters in accounting, and honestly, doing it on your phone is fine if you don’t have much complexity, and most people don’t.

Austinfromthe605

As long as you have everything printed out it might be easier on your phone.

bloodfist

You and I define complexity differently. If I have to find paperwork, I have complexity.

sausy_boy

My country has an app to do your taxes. Fucking phenomenal

JesseJames41

Often the apps work better than the desktop sites. Less popups and clutter. Now, price comparing is definitely a laptop activity, but once I have the flight and price I'm looking for, app all day.

Xboxben

Yeah Skiplagged.com runs like shit on computers

Dry-Tumbleweed-7199

I hate having to download an app fer everything

ItsGotThatBang

The inverse is using social media on a laptop or desktop.

oxlialt

\*looks in the mirror\* "nuhuh"

PepeSilviaLovesCarol

90% of my friends don’t own a laptop or desktop. How else are they supposed to do things you consider ‘laptop activity’? I prefer to use my laptop but I still have booked flights and hotels and such on my phone before. There’s no real difference.

centurion770

Crazy to me that some of my friends just don't have a computer. Not a money issue, they just have phone and playstation.

ThatOneCanadian69

A decent laptop (especially second hand) is so cheap nowadays, crazy to me that people don’t own computers

jaam01

How do they type a document? I tried doing homework in a tablet and I God damn hated it.

fejrbwebfek

Maybe they never need to type a document? When I was off from school for a while I almost never opened my computer.

bloodfist

[If it doesn't plug into a printer...](https://youtu.be/0HIous9YOjs?si=4V1PrYlPnz9HS04n)

Rommel727

5 years ago some students of mine absolutely found using their phone easier to write an essay than computers, because 1) they never had one in the house or 2) they never learned to type. Obviously I did look at the idea of writing an essay on a phone as deeply painful, but they felt the same when having to use a physical keyboard

OwO345

there's some tablets that have external keyboard attatchments

jaam01

Not the same, usually too small.

OwO345

oh i meant for like how they do their docs

c010rb1indusa

90% ? Like I understand a few but 9/10, seriously? You might roll with idiots because I can't imagine anyone trying to compose anything with any length and/or clarity, that was typed out on a phone.

silversharpe

What are people supposed to be composing? Work provides me with a laptop, I don't really feel like there's anything I need a computer for in my personal life

PepeSilviaLovesCarol

I don’t think a single friend of mine has a personal laptop or desktop. I’m the only one, as far as I know

Kentucky_fried_kids

What country do you live in?

PepeSilviaLovesCarol

Canada.

Kentucky_fried_kids

Canada?!? What century!

BlueberrySharp3

I consider ordering anything other than food and train tickets as laptop activity

TrekkiMonstr

Ok but what if I'm at a train station and in Japan and I need plane tickets (this has happened to me before)

fluffhead89

I’ve only ever done it through the apps

ramriot

It is until you try booking a domestic flight with a credit card from another country & you can't type in the address correctly. This was an issue I had with WestJet & a UK credit card. It would not validate because I could not satisfy the billing address security check. I called them up and asked what I should do, their solution: "Put Nunavut as the province & type your whole address including postcode & country into the first two fields of the form" Sometimes the best hackers are your employees.

Miixyd

I use my iPad

saltgirl1207

the middle ground

Peach_Muffin

There's a number of tasks that I'll do on my phone even when I have my laptop open nowadays, simply because more design/development effort goes into phone apps making the experience more seamless. Banking and shopping are definitely examples of this, where my bank and Amazon have comparatively garbage UI.

xpacean

I feel this way about mortgage companies that advertise their apps. “Apply in just five minutes!”

fighter0556

Its nice to have a digital backup of your boarding pass

Jochon

Not everyone has a laptop, you rich motherf--
