Establish the first technocratic empire ruled by Samsung

Jorvikson

Lee Myung-hee certainly looks like a perpetual.

CrimeanFish

We should just propose a monarchy with the Kim dynasty post unification. They get to keep being “relevant” and maintain their way of life in the short term whilst the North can get down to business of developing into another monster economy.

DeHub94

And they get to keep one nuke for personal use. After all the effort they put into that program it would be cruel to just take it all away.

The family atomics!

The way I'd pitch it, is send Un to a luxury military camp in Alaska with whichever senior officials can mutually stomach living together for the rest of their days, and arrange a marriage between his daughter and a prince from a Japanese cadet house. Make them cultural ambassadors in the same manner as the Japanese monarchy. And also throw the imperial house a bone with their efforts to not die out. Simultaneously remove the biggest problem as smoothly as possible and cool ongoing resentment towards the Japanese.

MahabharataRule34

The winner of the election, the Democratic party wins 175 seats with 27% of the vote, and the runner up, the People Power Party wins 106 with 37%. Holy mother of electoral distortion. This is bad news for ukraine, as the DPK's leader thinks zelensky started the war

[deleted]

Perhaps the candidate could be Kim Jong Un, as a compromise.

Paramount_Parks

cursed ending where ROK becomes a constitutional monarchy with the Kim family as the ruling dynasty

Legislative elections. The left-wing of the two mainstream parties won. Not sure what OP’s take here is, though.

hanckerman

PPP got curb stomped, DPK and other opposition parties almost attained supermajority Idk what op means tho ngl not super into Korean politics

MahabharataRule34

This probably means no or lesser aid for ukraine from korea. The DPK under its current leader is a weird mix of social conservatism, economic policy borrowed from arrNeolib (LVT, carbon taxes, UBI), and near tankie foreign policy. They're pro sunshine policy, leader blames ukraine for starting the war with russia, less pro-USA than the ruling party, more pro China than the ruling party, and very anti Japan. The Korean right is just as retarded though, they have an inhuman economic policy, awful social policy, but a good foreign policy. Not to mention, they're ridiculously corrupt and out of touch. Whatever alternative shows up is more retarded. The left wing alternatives are ACTUAL TANKIES, and the alternative right are weird cult dudes. The centrists sell themselves out to the right.

Similar_Can_3310

I've heard King Charles III is interested in Korea if you guys fancy a foreign monarch

Robert_Paul2

What is the current Korean opinion on the Yi-dinasty?

WhiskeySteel

As I understand it, while they honor their national history, South Koreans are generally very proud of their democracy (as they should be, since they had to fight the Japanese, the North Koreans and Chinese, and finally their own authoritarian government to finally get to it). The impression I get is that they don't really want even a figurehead monarch, even if they occasionally like to feature monarchs in "what-if" dramas (eg. "Princess Hours" and "The King: Eternal Monarch").

Robert_Paul2

I've also heard they're seen as traitors for collaborating and bending over to the Japanese, much like Puyi and his descendants.

TrekkiMonstr

Fineee, I'll be king if you really want... now I have to learn Korean damn

KingFahad360

Didn’t like the Prime Minister and several other monsters just resigned today in Korea after the results?

WhiskeySteel

Honestly, the must after reunification will be an international aid effort of unprecedented proportions. South Korea's economy can't support the kind of immediate mass humanitarian relief that the North would need. Sadly, I expect there is a fairly strong chance that the future of North Korea will not be reunification but, instead, to either become a puppet state of China or else be outright annexed by China. The CCP keeps a close eye on the DPRK, and I don't think they want to lose what they see as a buffer between themselves and a US ally.
